Heck yeah this is a legit patty melt. Pumpernickel bread was delicious with two patties Swiss cheese and grilled onions. The tater tots came out extra crispy just like I liked them and the side of garlic aïoli mayo was tasty. My daughter my daughter got the brisket eggs Benedict on a biscuit and she loved it as well. Oh phoebe's diner is Gem. The establishment is well kept. The food is to die for. I've frequent this establishment twice during my visit over the weekend. I plan to return to Austin just because of Phoebe's diner. The staff is very very, very kind and delightful. Especially Izzy our waitress who did a phenomenal job in serving us during our time. The environment is quaint and warm as a diner should be. The parking is street parking, which is free on Sundays. I visited Phoebe's Diner for Sunday brunch before flying out of Austin. It was just a fifteen-minute walk from my hotel. I joined the Yelp Waitlist but when I arrived, I saw that the restaurant was packed with lots of people waiting outside. I was worried I would have to wait a while, but to my surprise, they were able to seat me at the bar right away. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I opted for the migas with side of fruit and side of avocado as well as an iced coffee (Café Du Monde Vietnamese). The migas comes with hatch chile hollandaise, scrambled eggs, onion, tomato, Hatch chiles, crispy masa cake, cotija cheese, and cilantro and served with crispy red potatoes... It was exactly what I was looking for! It was flavorful and very filling. I struggled to finish it, especially with my fruit and avocado which complemented the migas. The Vietnamese iced coffee was sweet and creamy. I don't usually indulge in sweet coffees so it was a little treat! Greeted and welcomed very warmly by two young ladies at the front door. Escorted to our table right away where we were greeted by our cheerful server - Presley. Quick shout out to her - she was a big part of our excellent experience here today - friendly, informative and just a bright personality that warmed up the whole place. Give this girl a raise! Full house for brunch, lots of forks hitting plates - always a good sign. We started out with the Cheeky Monkey which was delicious and not too heavy - even with the sausage gravy. We had the fried chicken and grits dish, and also the Chicken Fried Ribeye. My wife is Gluten-Free and loved everything we had that morning and the fact that they had really good GF options was such a bonus because few places actually do (in spite of what a lot of them say). Great Food & Drinks - Wish We Had More Time! Stopped by with some coworkers, and we all ordered something different--every dish was a hit! The food was excellent, and we left more than satisfied. Parking can be a little tricky; we ended up parking down the street, but it wasn't a big deal. There are a few 20-minute spots in front of the diner if you get lucky. Inside the diner gives you the old school feel, but make no mistake it's super clean and fun! My husband found this place searching "locally owned restaurants" while we were visiting Austin last weekend. 10/10 recommend!! We were a table of three and did not have to wait to be seated. I loved that. Once seated the server who took care of us was amazing. They also had a really great music playlist going that was just at the right level of enjoyment and you can still hear your party without raising your voice. Now, the food.....GREAT!! I had the brisket burrito with red potatoes. My husband had the chicken biscuit. My cousin had the chopped brisket sandwich. Great portions!! I eat a lot and had to take half of my burrito to go. Heard about Phoebe's as a primo brunch spot for years since living in Austin and surprised to be writing about bland and forgettable food for much too high of a price. We were able to walk in and request a table, without a reservation around 2pm on a Saturday during the Texas Book Festival. We ordered the Brisket Benny which had no seasoning and a huge lack of flavor unfortunately. The biscuit was extremely dry and the brisket meat on top was overcooked. The best part of this dish was the side of hash brown casserole, which was super wet in contrast, but had some salt flavor. We also ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT which was good, but the bread got soggy super fast so we mostly ate the inside parts. The tater tots were crispy, but again nothing here seemed to be seasoned with anything. I got a Vietnamese coffee that was the best part of the meal experience as it was done well and my partner got drip coffee. For the prices, a $14.99 sandwich the bread should be toasted and for a $15.99 brisket biscuit it should have flavor and not be overcooked in all its parts. Our server was wonderful, checked in plenty of times, kept us updated, answered our questions thoughtfully, and brought our items as soon as he could. This location definitely has more of a sports bar vibe to it. This place was walking distance from our hotel so we stopped in. It is a cute little diner that was packed! We did get seated right way. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We ended up ordering the brisket burrito (without eggs) and it was HUGE and sadly I was not able to finish it. The potatoes were great but needed some salt. My husband ordered their version of a scotch egg and loved it. He also got pancakes but they came out cold, so we had to send them back. The new ones came out quickly and they were taken off our ticket by our very apologetic waitress. My husband said they were very good. The sourdough toast was also great! First time here. We waited 45 minutes and I'm not sure it's worth it, to be honest. The food was just ok, not terrible but not worth the wait or less than average service. I think the aspect that lost a star or two rating was the service. Our waitress showed up twice - once for the order and another time for the bill. The manager swung by and offered to fill coffee cup sitting bone dry for 20 minutes. And then when the food delivery girl set our plates down, we attempted to hand her the appetizer empty plates and she refused to take them and replied "oh, your server can get those" and turned away. We all were a bit surprised at that reaction as she walked away with an empty tray. Not efficient, nor customer focused. Wow, I have ordered from this restaurant on a delivery app known for its BOGOs on Migas, Badass Bacon and Eggs, and Chicken Biscuit but this was my second time in person. Last time, I sat at a very uncomfortable table but this time I sat at the bar. The coffee was adequate but the staff's attention was insanely good. My best friend and I split the Crab Benedict as an appetizer and it was pretty good. I wouldn't order it again at its price point but it was nicely prepared with perfectly cooked asparagus. The star of the show was the Cheeky Monkey. I don't know how to explain it -- something like crispy, gooey, crunchy, soft, runny perfection. The sage sausage gravy was so good, my friend used some on her Fried Chicken and Grits. She enjoyed her Bloody Mary, too. Wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I sat at the breakfast bar. This is place is great for families. Not loud or obnoxious, you can hold a conversation without yelling. I had the Chile Relleno with chorizo. It was a bit salty, probably because of the tortilla chip crust, but extremely flavorful and delicious. They sat my wife and I in a tiny table that couldn't even fit both menus on it side by side even though there was a booth open, no one else waiting for seating, and other couples had booths. This is after dodging insane people with big sticks screaming at themselves just to get to this place, hoping not to get assaulted. Then they tried really hard to sell us alcohol even though it was 10 am and all we wanted to drink was water or orange juice with breakfast. Super bad experience, left a $20 tip anyways since it's not the waitresses fault I guess, she's just following orders I suppose, but we walked out and didn't even order a meal after so much stress, didn't even touch the two glasses of water she served us. 1st time at this location. I really enjoyed this location. They have tables, booths and bar space. I would recommend you add yourself to the waitlist via their website or on Yelp. The wait times were pretty accurate. They have chairs and water outside while you wait. We ordered the chile relleno, chicken and biscuit (add the gravy), and 2 pancakes. Although the main dishes were amazing, the pancakes were just ok. The server was also just ok. They had zero sense of urgency, was slightly passive aggressive ("so you want a dry chicken and biscuit"), and forgot my gravy. Phoebe's never disappoints when it comes to food. We arrived around 11:30, and there was a wait (not surprising for a place this popular), but they had cooling water set up outside, which definitely helped make the 30-minute wait more comfortable. The moment we stepped inside, the place was buzzing--warm, packed, and full of good energy. We were greeted and seated with menus right away. We ordered the chicken sandwich with potato tots--crispy, juicy, and so satisfying. But what really stole the show was the Berry Foster French Toast. When the server brought it out, it looked absolutely epic. We literally said "wow" out loud, and the staff just smiled and said, "I know." Wednesday 7/24/2024 I made a takeout order for the French toast $11.49 and brisket burrito $14.49. - The French toast carries the entire brunch experience for me: I did not think it was going to be that GOOD. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and THICK. - The brisket burrito was a bit pricey and could've been a lot better with a bbq sauce to compliment the brisket but overall it was decent. I love to try new different things, so I was sold. The grits are made with goat cheese which intrigued me instantly. It also has mushrooms, corn, chorizo, shrimp, and green chile hollandaise sauce. Although I was kind of skeptical about the flavor profile while reading, I was pleasantly surprised by how everything just works well together. It was honestly a really good bowl of shrimp and grits and I was not disappointed. The bacon was also very thick and good good portion sizes. The only thing I ordered that I didnt care too much for was the hasbrown casserole. I think it was just too soft and mushy and the flavor was odd. Needed some texture to it. However, I really enjoyed the ambiance here, they were playing some good hits and everyone just had great positive energy. We started with the fresh cornbread muffins recommended by our waiter topped with green pepper jelly made in house, were the perfect combination.
