I had the BST omelet and wow this omelet is fantastic. The roasted garlic aioli is what sets this apart. The flavor it adds is crazy! The thick chopped bacon in this omelet was meaty and not fatty. The potatoes were crunchy the outside, soft on the inside. I also had a short stack of pancakes, which were yummy as well. My mom had a pimento cheese omelet and short stack of pancakes. She loved the pancakes and potatoes, and although she liked the omelet she thought it was a little too much pimento and needed something to offset the all around soft texture. IMO this place was rude, condescending, & treated my wife & I like second class citizens! Customer Service is a big deal to us and this place can careless about they treat their customer especially for average food. We walk in and nobody greeted us but gave us a table relatively quickly; that was decent of them. We sat down & gothic girl came in and raised her voice by saying " are you on the waiting list?" She in my point of view made a scene. Are you kidding Me? I can spend $50 anywhere for lunch and our economy is so depleted customer service should be very important but she was rude and arrogant. The good news is I won't spend a dime there ever again and the bad news is they are still serving people. Good Luck for those customers that continue to go there. LOCATION: A nice, comfy diner right off of W Oltorf, a bit outside of downtown Austin. Parking can be a bit hard to find and tight given there's only about 40 spaces for a number of businesses there. Inside, it's a nice, classic, 50's style diner with good music playing and a few TVs on. People I came into contact with were nice, attentive, and quick. FOOD: What I had this visit was the Burrata Omelet (pictured below) with a side of brisket. It was absolutely delicious. I can't say I've ever had a basil pesto on an omelette, but it worked wonderfully. I also am not typically a huge burrata fan because it can overpower other tastes in my opinion, but with the strong tomato gravy and pesto sauces, the cheese just complimented everything perfectly! I would absolutely recommend adding the brisket too. It wasn't as soft and pull-apart as I'd like, but the fat added some of the juiciness and softness I was looking for. I visited during Austin's restaurant week and got an incredible deal, a three course meal for $25 and an option to add a cocktail. A huge five star rating for this fabulous diner! We're visiting from out of town and this was on our list to try- we are quite impressed!!! Meals were beautiful and delicious, but so huge we all had to take some home. Our server was so nice and friendly! Two gender neutral restrooms in the back. My family and I tried Phoebe's Diner while visiting Austin and reading great reviews about this location. I joined the waitlist that only had a 20 minute wait at the time but was just enough time to drive to the location. Pro-tip: Join the Yelp waitlist Once we arrived we checked in with the host and were seated almost immediately. The restaurant is cute with lots of decor on the wall. We were sat to the left of the main dining area which made our spot a little quieter. Our waiter greeted us and took out drink order while we looked over the menu. I ordered the short stack with strawberries which was delicious! The pancakes were so fluffy! I'd highly recommend them. Both of my kids ordered the kids chocolate chip pancakes with fruit. The first time we tried to visit Phoebe's was in 2021--only to find the entire lot wrapped in police tape. We later found out someone had been killed in a fight over parking. A delivery driver. It stuck with us. We gave it another try later. The food really is great--worth the wait, even. But the whole time we were there, we kept looking out the window, worried about our car. Even as paying dine-in customers, we felt anxious about the aggressive parking enforcement in the lot. It's not the food's fault. But the atmosphere just doesn't feel welcoming. We were excited to try so many different things on the menu that we already decided we needed to come back before even trying our first order (hah!) The brussel sprouts I have to say were a tad too salty for my liking but it worked out because my chile relleno eggs had no seasoning/flavor at all so I just would fork some brussel sprouts onto my eggs and voila, seasoned eggs on my chile relleno! We both also got the cheeky monkey, and I also have to say, they aren't the most aesthetically pleasing dish to look at lol... when I cut into the egg it looked a little funny but I'll blame it on the longer wait because the drive home. This place is wildly popular, especially on weekends. Clearly it's many people's breakfast thing; unfortunately, it isn't my breakfast thing. According to the owner, "Our cuisine features dishes you would find in your classic American diner . . ." Based on my experience, that is just not true. Rather than having standard breakfast items, it tries to get way too cute and fancy. I love omelets! In my opinion, any breakfast place should have multiple omelets, plus a catchall "make your own" omelet. Phoebe's has only three omelets, and all of them are very culinarily artsy and not appealing to me. Accordingly, I had the migas instead. But the migas had no tortilla chips! That isn't migas at all! It was way too spicy for me, with Hatch chilis. I love eggs, but I couldn't taste them at all through the chilis, onions, and tomatoes. The fried potatoes were pretty good, but the hushpuppies were dry and again, too spicy. I gotta say, the coffee was excellent, and the service was on point. read more

The vibe inside is super cool. They play hip hop music. All the staff are pleasant and you can tell they enjoy working here. They are very attentive and will describe the dishes with great flare. First time at this establishment. My friend and I shared cheeky monkey starter. It was an entrancing dish. The gravy had a smooth consistency. I recommend it. Also ordered the pulled pork Benedict. Personally the Carolina BBQ that the pulled pork had was very tangy and sweet. I just think they should not mix the pulled pork with the BBQ sauce. And just have the sauce on the side. So customers have the option to add it themselves. Plus we also ordered pancakes. But I should have ordered the fried French toast it looked appealing. The toast looked huge. Enough to feed two. We were seated right away by our friendly server, who provided great service from start to finish. Bo ordered the '04 platter, I ordered the fried chicken and grits, and we split an order of the deep-fried French toast with berries. From the side of pickled onions and jalapeños, to the brisket, to the fried chicken, to the grits, to every component of the French toast, everything was delicious. My water glass had lipstick on it. We had the migas and a chile relleno (stuffed with scrambled-eggs). They were pretty good. The migas were a little too cheesy for my taste but my wife liked it. The relleno had a hard and crispy crust, which I was not a fan of. The side of broiled potatoes were a nice change.The migas plate came with corn meal "masa" balls, which were epic. Such an intense corn flavor! I could have made a meal of those. I don't usually notice otableware but my knife was incredibly dull and almost couldn't cut my chili relleno. What a wonderful breakfast! We came here early on a Friday morning, around 8 AM. Super easy to get a table at that time. This is a cute diner with a really unique menu. Our waitress was very sweet and took good care of us. We started with the Cheeky Monkey, a scotch egg wrapped with breakfast sausage, potato and cheddar, served on top of loads of sausage gravy with green onions. The egg was a tad overdone, we would have preferred a runnier center, but that doesn't stop this from being a 5 star starter! Freakin delish! I had Migas, scrambled eggs with hatch chile hollandaise, onion, tomatoes, green chiles, cotija cheese, masa cakes, and served with red potatoes. This was an AMAZING breakfast! Those masa cakes were so tasty and I love, love, loved the hollandaise! Husband ordered the Baked Eggs, which had tomatoes, creme fraiche, parmesan cheese, basil, mushrooms, and sourdough bread. This was so unique, we have never had anything like this, and I am so glad we tried it. When he mixed it all together it kind of tasted like tomato soup, but breakfast style. Breakfast came in just under $50 (we only drank water) and I think it was a good value for how amazing the food is! We were so full when we were done, we actually went back to our Airbnb to rest before we set out on our next adventure. Get crowded easily, and I would recommend joining a waitlist on Yelp or over the phone. It was a breeze since they don't want you to be there to join their waitlist. I had goat cheese grits and fried chicken (gf). They have a separate fryer. The maple syrup sauce was very spicy - served on the side. I could dip a little. You got 2 large pieces of chicken. Love this place but I'm going to have to give it 3 stars because they charged me $3.75 for hot water.
