It looks like a family business restaurant . Everyone super friendly. The restaurant is big for 50 people. The service was good and fast. I am new in Phoenix and not sure if every where is like that or just the small local restaurant, but they did not have water bottle. The dolmeh was okey. Not my favorite.The portion was big for small plate. The hummus deluxe was delicious , it was coming with choices of meat or chicken and we tried the meat which was yummy and delicious . The kabab was really good and fresh. It was coming with 2 side dishes, such as rice , tabouli , fries , hummus and lots of other choices. The portion was huge. They have something interesting in their menu which calls unlimited or something like that combo. Give you so much options to choose and have almost all the appetizers and 2 different choose of main dish , just for $34 ! I asked our waiter about it and he said it would be enough for 2-3 people. Clean restaurant. Tea was brewed fresh. Cashier was reasonably friendly but in a rush, when there wasn't even a crowd. Baklava looked good but was pricey for a piece so I didn't get it. Overall meh about this place. I got a Chicken Shawarma Lunch Combo. Ended up being 12.50 with upgrade to greek salad. Salad itself was good. No picture because I had to eat it right away because dressing was added, eventhough the cashier specifically asked if I wanted it on the side. Salad dressing got all over my bag and was quite messy to eat at my desk. Disappointed with my sandwich as I thought it would be a wrap and not thick pita bread. I love pita but wasn't expecting it. Wanted lavosh bread or a wrap. Sandwich was messy. Plenty of meat. I didn't care for the seasoning on the meat. Wasn't expecting lettuce or tomatoes on my sandwich. Tomatoes were fine, lettuce wasn't the best cut and very chuncky to be on a sandwich. My expectations were not met for this place. As parents of young children, we order our food to go 9.9 times out of 10. Haven't been able to dine in at this place, but I certainly don't appreciate the "I'm doing you a favor" attitude on the phone when placing a to go order. One of my favorite places for gyros in Gilbert. I normally order the gyro plate with rice and hummus but today I replaced the hummus with fries to share with my gf. The portions are generously large. The gyro shavings are very crisp and tastey. The basmati rice is surprisingly flavorful. Fries are good too but I think i'll return to my usual order of hummus instead next time ; can't go wrong with hummus We also ordered the falafel de luxe. The falafel was crispy and the tabouli inside tasted very refreshing. Everything mixes well together. However, I would advise eating this dish quickly as it will get soggy if you're slow at it like us Overall, I have always had a pleasant experience here. I literally had to point at what I wanted on the menu. "I want the chicken kebabs with ALL salad...no rice...and a water cup" I should have known there was a miscommunication when he asked if I wanted utensils. Disappointed with the meals we ordered last night. The chicken in the Chicken Shawarma meal & sandwich was very dry, the sandwich itself was dry. I came here on a whim with my kid and decided to dine in. It was super early, like 445 on a weeknight and the place was surprisingly busy. We took a seat and chatted while the waiter busted his booty. The service was great despite the fact that he was alone and it was busy. We got a humus appetizer and a gyro plate to share and it was all absolutely delicious. We had leftovers and were able to eat on them for TWO more lunches (he's only seven, but still). This place has been around a long time but I had only been here once before several years ago. I was underwhelmed then (I can't remember why), but very pleasantly surprised this time around. I love Mediterranean food and this is only a few miles from my house, so we will definitely be back! read more

Wow! I just received the best service I have ever had. Anywhere. We wanted to celebrate a great Christmas concert last night and my son remembered how much he loved the food at Phoenicia. It was quite a drive but we thought it would be worth it. We arrived 5 minutes before closing. My son and husband lingered outside the door not wanting to make the employees work late. But I was determined since my son had specifically requested this place. We determined to to take it to go and hurry in and out. Ryan took our order and reassured us repeatedly that he wasn't in a hurry and to take our time. He talked us into staying and eating in. He made a special lemonade for my son and we sat down and are the best meal I have had in months. The hummus and tabouli were to die for! My son enjoyed the baklava for the first time ever! Stopped to place a to go order. 2 customers sitting outside, no one inside, placed an order for 2 gyro both with only meat and onions, plus lettuce on one, the server heard 3 gyro, corrected to 2, asked if we wanted sauce, no, not even in a single serving cup. The order was repeated, I paid and gave a tip. As I waited a couple of other people came and sat at a table. One phone order was called out but no one claimed it while I there. Eventually my order was ready, bagged and I took it home. With great expectation we opened both gyro. Imagine our disappointment when both gyro were loaded with the sauce we specifically asked not to be added. The sauce was everywhere, it made the pita soggy so the sandwich quickly fell apart. After removing the meat, and scraping the sauce off as best we could, rinsed the gyro meat off and reassembled while the meat was flavorful but not as what we anticipated. The question I suspect you are thinking. Why didn't take the food back and insist a on replacement. Frankly this meal was a treat after a long day and neither of us was up to take the time or effort to return the sandwich's. Instead we will choose another restaurant when we crave gyros. read more

It pains to write this review because I've been going here for many years. The quality has slowly gone down here for a while. And I know everyone's had hard times recently, but the food was really just terrible. The pita bread was hard and rubbery. The hummus was too much tahini, not enough chickpeas. The gyro meat was hard, dry, burnt. The rice was bone dry, did they not put any oil in it? I've come previous times where the rice was too oily. The only good thing I ate there were the French fries. Hence the 1 out of 5 stars. The were some new young workers who could of done better, but were trying to give better service by the end of our time there. I heard the workers saying the owner and other workers were sick. Thats unfortunate, but this was truly the worst experience I've had at a middle eastern restaurant, and I've eaten at a lot of places. I hope they can do better, but I think I'll be finding somewhere else to get a gyro from now on. read more

Phoenicia Cafe was an interesting experience. The food was really good but the service could have been better. We came here off a recommendation from a friend and really can't go wrong with the food. Once you walk in you can order at the front register or take a seat and have a waiter come to you - pretty standard stuff. The service was pretty slow, we thought, and they seemed to be under staffed for the number of people there. After we placed our order it didn't take too long to get it but they had messed mine up - giving me a salad instead of the hummus. It wasn't too big of a deal as both were delicious but the hummus is AMAZING - so I was a little dissapointed. When I told the other waitress she said she'd get me a side of it since they messed it up and I never got my side. Towards the end of the meal she asked if we wanted another pita, which would have been good to have to finish off the gyro - but, again, it never came until we were literally about to leave and I still got charged for it. Overall, the food here is good. The location is nothing special and the service is poor at best. The food was awesome. I got the schwarma and the other two people we were with got the gyro.
