I have been going to Phoenicia Cafe for 10 years now. The food is delicious there and it is one of my fave restaurants in town. Fouad is the owner and he has added so many new delicious menu items. The servers Ryan and Nick are the best. I have been to many Mediterranean restaurants in town and none compare to the savory flavors at Phoenicia. The hummus has delicious seasoning and the right texture. My fave dishes are the spanakopita, dolmades, the beef entree or chicken shawarma entree with rice and salad. Everything there is delicious! Wow! Absolutely great food and fast friendly service. We had Tabouli, the Deluxe Humus and the Spinach pie. So delicious. We share among 3 people and had lots of leftovers. Man, does the crew at Phoenicia have it dialed in! We used to stop in here quite a bit back when we lived closer. Stopped in for lunch today, and wow, I was super impressed. They've always been known to have good food, but my first impression was how clean and well they've maintained the space. The last time we were there, you ordered at the counter, yeah - it was that long ago! We had the gyro salad and chicken shwarma salad, and they were piled high with the freshly grilled gyro and chicken shwarma. Fresh and delish! We got baklava to go, and finishing that honey dripping amazingness is what made me want to write a review. Thank you to the ownership, staff, and crew and Phoenicia for keeping this gem going and putting most other EV strip mall gyro joints to shame! I'd forgotten how delicately the gyro meat is seasoned and how perfectly they crisp the edges of the meat. But, in classic fashion, the baklava stole the show. This is how baklava is supposed to be! Excellent place for Greek food, the shawarma was very good and the portions were fair for the price. The humus was fresh and served with a center of olive with approximately a tablespoon of olive oil. The kale and quinoa salad was the best I've had and the Greek fries were lavishly and generously showered in feta (not skimpy, unlike so many "cheese fries" which only cover the top six fries)! The baklava is fresh and rich, the portion seemed small until the end when I realized it was so rich, I wouldn't want anymore. Order it ala mode for an extra flavorful treat! read more

I've come here a couple times, once lunch, once dinner. Service was friendly and responsive. We ordered the sample plate for an appetizer. It's enough food for four people, but a great way to taste a bunch of different things. The baba ganoush was EXTRA smokey. Not sure if it was over seasoned or what. That wasn't our favorite. The gyros are good, but I felt they should refine the tzatziki recipe. Not as good as it should be. The Greek salads are good. Went specifically for falafel one day and thought they did a good job. I ordered 2 salads, 1 lg Greek salad, 1 lg gyro salad to go. Neither came with salad dressing. I didn't know this till I got home. The menu and website both salad the salads were 9.99 and 12.99 each. I was charged $10.98 and 13.98 and operational charge of .81. When I questioned the sales person on the charges, he showed me a small sticker on the front of menu about up charges. He said the menus are from 2017. Not sure why the website hasn't been updated. I also mentioned that they should inform the customer of updated pricing. He saw me looking at the menu. Who know what the operational charge is for. No dressing for salad, up charges and price changes, we will not be going back. Too many good restaurants to choose from. read more

My boyfriend and I ate here for lunch one day. I have had a lot of Greek food in north Phoenix but not so much out in chandler. I can say that this restaurant highly outranks any Greek place I've been to in north Phoenix. We ordered the dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) to start. They were perfectly tender and soft with a subtle lemon flavor. I would come back just to get these. The yogurt sauce that accompanies them is delicious too. For our main, we ordered a chicken gyro and the chicken shawarma wrap. We both had Greek fries. The chicken gyro has a delicious garlic sauce that contains a slight bit of spice that you get from raw garlic. The tomatoes in the wrap were insanely ripe and good quality! I wanted to know who their tomato supplier was - they were that good! The shawarma wrap was equally delicious. Portions are large and we loved the Greek fries. You almost can't stop eating them. For dessert, we had the almond baklava with chocolate drizzle. One of the best baklava I have ever had! I would order this for parties in large quantities for sure! Check out this restaurant. What an awesome place! I had never been there before and from the time we walked in, we had a great experience. The food was just incredible! The hummus was some of the best I have ever had outside of the Levant. The shawarma chicken platter was just amazing and the portion size was huge. The staff just kept spoiling us. Came here for the first time with my parents on 05/26 for a late lunch around 3:00. I was nervous to try because I just moved to the area from a different state and oh my... it was Delicious to say the least. We came back after a long absence and tried some entrees we've never tried before (or forgot). We then came back the next night. Yeah...it was that good! First of all...I'm not into French Fries, never have been...until I tried their Greek fries. Holy mother of grease and calories! They hit my stressed out "I don't care about calories" heart dead center. YUMMY! I wish I remembered the names of all we are, but I don't. I do know we ate til we were stuffed, took home leftovers and cane back a couple days later for more. I'll post pix...know it was all good. The food was okay but the service was not. I was very excited to have some Mediterranean food but it wasn't a good experience. The extra charges, besides what the menu says is outrageous. There was definitely some anti blackness is how we were treated. I so badly wanted to like this place but rude service and up charges is insulting. I was going to place an online order. I looked at the online menu and it says, in small print "All food prices have incurred a $1-3 increase." Some people might interpret this as meaning the online menu prices reflect the new prices since the menu says "HAVE INCURRED". It does not say "Prices shown do not reflect our $1-3 price increase. PLUS I do not need to be reminded of your hardship which is now passed on to me. MAKE YOUR ONLINE MENU ACCURATE, spend the online web money to make it accurate, PERIOD. I did call ahead of time to ask what the prices were and each item on the online menu was incorrect. What would have happened it I ordered, and it would have been an order for 10 people and I got sticker shock when paying the bill. OR would I argue that the online menu is wrong, and they say that it states "All food prices have incurred a $1-3 increase." and I argue HAVE INCURRED is past tense so one could assume the the new prices HAVE BEEN reflected in the menu. Then what do I do? I have placed and order and I walk out leaving you with 10 prepared meals unpaid for? I assume they charge you ahead of time for the order so that might not have happened. BUT isn't this false advertising. They seduce you to make an order then they swap out the price once it's time to pay. I wonder if the in restaurant menu is accurate? Great Little Spot With Great Food & Nice Family Owned Service This is a tasty little gem of a restaurant. I really like the family that owns it, they were all very friendly the mother and daughters all went out of their way to be legitimately and genuinely nice to all the customers in the building. We got the Chicken Shawarma and also a plate of beef Shawarma. The sauces and the rice and meats were all very exceptional. Great flavor out of this family owned gem. The inside as they sleep decorated and clean with a good amount of seating, but I would imagine on a Friday or Saturday night this place would probably be a little bit packed. My hubby and I LOVE this place! The hummus is seriously THE BEST we've ever had - so smooth and creamy and full of flavor. We usually order the hummus trio, deluxe style with lamb. The food is mediocre, not bad, but not good. The reason for the low rating is that when you go to pay, you discover that they're going to apply an across the board 3.5% service charge to your bill that wasn't listed on the menu. This is outrageous! Why am I paying a service charge to give them my business? If they need more money for their product, they should be transparent and raise their prices by 3.5%. Left with that getting nickled and dimed feeling. The food isn't nearly good enough to put up with their dishonest business practices. I won't be back! read more

I used to go to the Phoenicia Cafe over by ASU when I was in college and loved it. Authentic and delicious Greek food. I am very excited that they opened this second location near my house. The Greek fries are to die for. The chicken schwarma is better than Pita Jungle. The seasoning and sauce were very flavorful. My dad got the gyro platter and said the lamb was tender and flavorful. My mom got the Ghallaba without spice and loved it. The prices are right and the service was friendly and fast. We will be coming back often to try new menu items and get our Greek fix. Nothing better than a Mom-and-pop restaurant. I highly recommend either the Gilbert or Tempe locations. read more

I hate this place as much as they hate vegetarians. Went in with a friend who had a 2-for-1 entree coupon. But wait, it's not 2-for-1 after all, it's a 2-for-get-$8-off-the-second-entree coupon. Gotta order an entree. Okay. Do you have vegetarian entrees? No. Can you make me a chicken gyro plate, but with falafel instead of chicken. No substitutions! Fine. The fries here aren't even good anymore, and they only fill half of their fancy little fries dish. No reason to go here. Ordered the Greek salad with gyro meat. The meat was too salty for my liking, and I tried to balance it out with the blandness of the salad (I used the dressing sparingly to save on calories). Waiter was great about me asking for more tomatoes, as my salad only came with 2 thin slices. Sadly had to knock off the 2 stars because my mouth was feeling so parched half way through the salad because of how salty the gyro was. It was almost difficult to eat because my mouth felt like sand paper :( That aside, everyone seemed to go nuts for the dessert, especially the baklava. I was too stuffed to have any, but if I get to come back again, I'll be sure to leave some room. We were excited to try a new place but when our food arrived the meat was dry as can be, the rice was dry and flavorless, the fries we ordered on the side were a big pile of sogginess and the pita bread was given to us in what appeared to be its original packaging and however they warmed it up left it very hard. Overall we were very dissatisfied to spend a decent amount of money and be left dissatisfied in every area of our meal. read more
