Decided to stop by and give Pholicious a try! We ordered the Bun Bo Hue and the Shrimp Banh Mi both were really good! The service was great too. It's a cool, chill little mom-and-pop spot with a cozy vibe. The only issue I had was with the noodles in my Bun Bo Hue. I'm not sure if it was the type of noodles they used or if they had been sitting in the fridge for a few days. I say that because I've noticed a similar texture when I reuse leftover vermicelli noodles unless you eat them the next day, they lose that soft, springy bite. These noodles were really dense and hard to scoop with chopsticks, they kept bouncing right off my spoon and even out of the bowl! When I bit into them, they didn't have that soft, chewy texture, they just kind of broke apart. Gave 3 stars mainly for the price I paid. I couldn't really enjoy my Bun Bo Hue or finish my bowl because the noodles threw it off.. read more

Tried Pholicious over Pho Ivy today, and omgggg so worth it! I got the vegetable pho with beef broth it was soooo good. I don't care for the meats as they freak me out but nonetheless this pho broth was delicious! The pork bahn mi was also amazing and extremely flavorful. Pho was decent. It hit the spot the day I went into restaurant to grab a quick lunch with friends. There are many types of Pho so I probably need to try a different type. SERVED RAW PORK I ordered take out, specifically their Char Siu Wonton soup - after I ate a wonton and bit into another one I realized the inside was completely raw. I called and spoke to Nancy on the phone, first she told me I was wrong that it was cooked, and then she told me it's slightly uncooked and that I just need to boil it. Clearly from the pictures we can see it's completely raw. She told me to come in with the wontons to get a refund. I came in to get a refund, and they issued me a full refund - until I checked my bank and saw that the refund never went through. I wasn't going to leave a review as I'm a regular and I thought it was a mistake that was rectified by giving a refund - however the refund was never received and serving raw meat is unacceptable and could be extremely dangerous. Imagine if a small child, a pregnant woman, or another immunocompromised person ate this? Totally unacceptable, unsafe, and disappointing. read more

I came across this restaurant in a Vietnamese Facebook group. Since I was in Wilton anyway, I decided to give it a try. As a Vietnamese person, I'll be honest -- the pho wasn't great. The broth had way too much MSG and sugar, making it overly sweet. For the portion size, it already felt expensive for a small town. In fact, I think it's one of the priciest pho places in the Sacramento area, but it's really not worth the price. read more

When you walked up to the restaurant, you'd see pretty plants and a bench before the door. The bench is perfect for waiting for your friends to show up. I was greeted by a server when my husband and I walked in. I ordered the shrimp rice plate and he ordered the combination pho. I had a coconut juice and he had the Vietnamese iced coffee. The shrimp plate was good. I added sunny side up egg for more protein. My husband thought the pho was pretty good. I like how the server didn't have to be asked to refill our water. The husband and I stopped here for lunch. It's a pretty small place but very cute. I believe it use to be a Chinese restaurant before Pholicious took over. We both ordered the combination pho and shrimp and pork spring rolls. Honestly, I didn't have high hopes but to my surprise the pho broth was very very good. Perfect flavor. The spring rolls were also really good. It was a little different than the ones we usually get as this one had pickles carrots and daikons in it. I like the extra crunch and flavor it gave. This is definitely a hidden gem and my new go-to Pho spot. Its been years since I wrote a review and for me to come out of retirement to write one up just shows how amazing this place is. The ambience is great and decorations were simple but still paid homage to the Vietnamese culture. Food - On the table displayed their special Hu Tieu. It was tempting and I almost ordered it but saw that they have Bun Bo Hue. I ordered that and their crispy egg roll. BBH was delicious! It was hot (temperature) and broth was flavorful. They give you a lot of meat (I didn't finish all of it ). Oh man, and the crispy eggroll. They are smart for that! Crispy and it just melts well in your mouth (if that makes sense). Service - 100% - Server visited me at least 2-3x to make sure I was okay. Highly recommend and would come back again :) read more

I really hate to bring this up, but I believe the owner should be aware while they are not present. I stopped by today around 6 PM for dinner. I had the P1 Pho, which was quite good, and I also gave the Bun Bo Hue another try. It wasn't bad, but the broth seemed to be missing something compared to my previous visit. My main concern, however, wasn't the food--it was the service. Two younger ladies were working as servers, and unfortunately, both came across as indifferent and somewhat dismissive. When I asked for straws for our ice waters, one of them dropped them on the table without a word--not even a simple "here you go." Later, I requested some extra lime for my soup. The other server brought a few small lime wedges and dropped them on the table with the same silent, abrupt demeanor. No acknowledgment, no smile--just a cold delivery. What made it more noticeable was that I could hear them chatting and laughing near the kitchen, so it's not that they were having a bad day. It just seemed like that friendly energy didn't extend to our table. The attitude and body language were a bit off-putting, to be honest. Despite the lackluster service, I still left a tip out of respect--especially knowing it's a family-run business. I truly want to support local places like yours. I hope this feedback is received in the spirit of improvement. Elk Grove is full of food lovers, and first impressions matter, especially for a new restaurant. Delicious. Everything we tried has been so good. I love their veggie Pho, the tofu is delicious and the chicken broth is so flavorful yet no greasy or grainy like other restaurants. I heard about this place from social media and decided to check it out. I ordered bun bo hue, my go to at a pho restaurant. It was perfectly seasoned and not too spicy. There was a generous amount of meat. My dish came with a side of lime and cabbage that you can add to your soup as well. I also ordered a Thai iced tea, which was the perfect complement to my meal. Came with the family during their soft opening. We arrived around 5:30pm and the restaurant was already bustling! We had a small wait, but understandable as a large party was seated right before us. I tried their pho dac biet. The soup was piping hot, flavorful and had depth. It was star anise forward and a tad sweeter than other restaurants. Meat was tender and there was a generous portion of noodles. 5/5 We also ordered their crispy egg rolls (cha gio). These were amazing! Crispy on the outside and full of flavor on the inside. The egg roll skin is unique, very few places make it like this in the Sacramento area. Overall, the egg rolls were very delicious and I would come back just eat them! 5/5 The rest of my family ordered various items. Husband got the pholicious dac biet with filet mignon, he said the meat was very tender. Everyone also liked their vermicelli bowls and BBH. Staff was attentive, we had multiple staff members come by and ask how things were going. After you're done eating, customers go up to the cashier to pay. Came in 30 mins before closing. Left 5 mins after closing time which is ok and expected and only because we had to pack and pay for our food. No smiles, no water, no cleaned tables (had to ask for a cloth to wipe the table and chair down). Is this place ran by a bunch of kids or what? We ordered and finished our food (except mines) before closing time which was obviously enough time for them to clean up and leave but nope, they wanted to pour the extremely strong pine-sol solution and started stacking up the chairs to sweep while our food was coming out. The girl probably swept some dirt and dust onto our plates too. So rude! I ended up packing it Togo because who the heck is gonna eat while smelling pine-sol all up in their faces!?!? Good pho, but the experience was overshadowed by strong cleaning chemicals and staff starting closing procedures while customers were still dining. I ordered the #2 pho. It was good, but not great. The service at the beginning was fine; we arrived around 7:00 PM, ordered within a few minutes, and our waiter was friendly. Around 7:15 PM there was a very strong cleaning product smell (possibly bleach) coming from the bathroom. We were seated near it and the restaurant is small, so the smell quickly filled the dining area. An employee had just finished cleaning the bathroom and left the door open to air it out. The smell was strong enough that I actually had to get up and close the door myself. Our food came out shortly after, but before I even started prepping my pho, the same employee who cleaned the bathroom began mopping the restaurant floors while several customers were still eating. By about 7:30 PM the staff started shutting things down, turning off the TV, music, some lights, and stacking chairs on empty tables. We were almost finished with our meal but it definitely made us feel rushed. I also felt bad for a woman who had just walked in to eat and ended up sitting between tables with chairs already stacked on them. The restaurant closes at 8:00 PM, so starting strong chemical cleaning and closing procedures while customers are still dining feels unprofessional and takes away from the experience. We were greeted by a young girl right when we walked in. Her name is Haley. She was very thoughtful and asked if we wanted iced water or hot water (because the weather was so cold outside). She let us choose where we want to sit, so we chose a corner away from the door. I ordered bun bo hue, and my husband and cousin ordered pho dac biet. We were all hungry so we didn't get a chance to take a picture of our foods. Our first thought on my bun bo hue was it looked different because it lacks the red color from the annato seed oil/extract. DON'T LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU!!! The broth was on point and everything was cooked to perfection! It's not spicy but they do have the chili sate and mam ruoc sate on the side to add in yourself to your own liking. Both my husband and cousin said pho was good too! My cousin made some bomb pho herself, so for her to say that it's good, it must be good! Next time when I come back, I'll add some photos. read more

I'll start by saying i picked this up for takeout and live about 15 mins away. This place is amazing! We got two different pho options, i got the pholicious special and I got my mom the Pho ga(chicken breast). The broths were still piping hot when I got home and they gave very generous portions of the meat, noodles, and toppings! They were extremely friendly when I picked it up and the way they renovated the old Happy Garden made it feel more open and inviting. We also got two orders of they're spring rolls, one order of pork, and one of shrimp. They were so good and they're huge! The peanut sauce is a nice accompaniment to it as well. The pho was delicious! Honestly one of the best broths I've had. It was good without adding anything but i still put some hoisin and chili oil in it as per my preference. I came for the Pho but was convinced to get the Banh Mi Chao special. It was incredible! That toasty crispy french bread lathered in the golden butter and stacked with pate, steak and sunny fried egg made me do a happy dance. You ever have food so good it gives you the shivers?
