Brand new Vietnamese restaurant that had its grand opening yesterday. Small cute clean inside. There's about 6-8 tables. Wait staff very attentive and courteous. I ordered the pancake with pork AND shrimp; the waitress repeated back. I only got pork and that's all that was written on ticket so I was disappointed. The pancake was quite soggy. Beautiful presentation with crisp salad. The fish sauce and carrots were great especially on the salad. I'd like to go back and try the pho. I won't order the pancake again however. Had high hopes with all the great reviews. I don't understand all the hubbub. I ordered the pork banh mi which is supposed to be a hearty sandwich and the beef happy rolls for take out. I knew something was wrong when I picked up the bag of food and it almost flew out of my hand, due to absolutely no mass inside. I thought, well this is going to be a light dinner. The only thing I kept thinking when I saw and bit into each was, "Where's the beef?" The banh mi was mostly a stale roll with a paltry shaving of beef and the rolls echoed the miniscule beef strip. Love their pho! Located in a plaza, there is easy parking and plenty of seating inside. The staff is courteous and service is quick. Best of all, the pho is delicious - flavorful and generous. I have come a couple times now and have yet to have a disappointing meal! I've also tried their grilled beef banh mi, which is a modest size. PhoLy is my town spot for a great bowl of along with other delicious Vietnamese offerings. I found myself comparing every pho to PhoLy and promised myself not to waste any more food experiences. Pho: The star is the broth, perfect fat ratio, umami and spiced just right. The bowl comes out steaming and the bowl is nicely packed with all the fixings. It's fantastic and am shocked at how fast my meal is gone. Spring rolls: They are always fresh and the ingredients are high quality. The pork is my favorite if you're looking for a bit more kick that shrimp can give try the pork. You can make a meal just out of these. Ban Mi: INCREDIBLE!!! This is hands down the best deal in Vernon. All of the offerings are delicious, but my favorite it the Vietnamese cold cuts. The smear of pâté adds a kick that you won't expect. BunCha(Spelling?): Get the special offering with all the meat and the egg roll. It will knock your socks off. The flavor keeps building and building and each bit is uniquely created from what ever saucy but you grab. This is my favorite meal; it's light but, filling and won't have you feeling like a sloth. Very good Vietnamese restaurant. We stopped by on the way home from Boston and was surprised to find a Vietnamese restaurant along the way. The food was very good. The summer roll was refreshing and had a good amount of shrimp to noodle. The peanut sauce was not too sweet. The crepe was very good. Alight Curry flavor in the crepe and large pieces of shrimp. Lastly we ordered the beef pho, and we're very happy with the bowl. The center of the sliced beef was still undercooked, which was perfect. It was topped off with white pepper cilantro. The broth was light and flavorful. It did not taste like it came from a premade seasoning packet. Great experience as well. The waitress was very friendly and adorable! The good news is that the food was decent, if more expensive than I expected. If I were looking for a quick stop on the way home, I would go back. We had originally gone to eat-in, but the place smelled like bathroom disinfectant. Maybe they had just cleaned, but it was NOT an atmosphere we wanted to stay in. Take out came with all you would expect: the soup base; a styrofoam container of noodles and meat of choice; a baggie of lime, sprouts, and basil, and a container of hot. All we were hoping and more! The bahn mi sandwich was great with complex flavors and only $5! We also had the PhoLy special soup which was delicious. What put it over the top though was the service! Very attentive water refills, they split the soup into two bowls when they heard we were sharing it and overall just anticipated all needs. Surprising for a small place like this. I actually dream of their spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo hue, without all the accents), which I believe is a special you can get only on the weekends. I could be wrong. But, it really reminded me of how my mom cooks bun bo hue. It wasn't overly spicy, the meat was tender and the noodles were perfect. Such a great alternative to pho when you want a kick. read more

This restaurant is not bad at all. Waitresses are quick to take your order but damn do they take forever to come out with the food. Literally took a good 30 min until I got my bowl of pho. And it wasn't busy either. lol Never knew it could take that long to make a bowl of pho, isn't the broth already made? lol. anyways at least the broth was good, I really liked it. I ordered the regular size which is $10.50, a price I'm not really use to spending on pho, if I was to get a large it would've been 12.50. Not to sound cheap but living in Houston, TX half my life I've only always paid 6-7 bucks on a bangin good bowl of pho. The regular size bowl was basically a kids small bowl. The BEST Vietnamese restaurant in this area. Very quaint, clean restaurant. The food is outstanding especially the rare steak pho, the bubble teas and smoothies. Owners are always happy and very outgoing. The spring rolls are delicious. We also ordered the Vietnamese pancake aka crepe with shrimp. The crepe was filled with shrimp, bean sprouts and all sorts of goodness. Complimented with a very tasty fish sauce. Note: the crepe is extra large, nearly impossible to eat by yourself. The pho market in greater Hartford is pretty tough, although not so tough in the Vernon area. Being the only offering in these parts, this place will do well. However, while I found the food pretty good, there are places in East or West Hartford for which I'd still drive the extra miles. That doesn't mean I won't be back to PhoLy. Not at all, especially because of it's relative proximity to my home. While good, there are some notable shortcomings. First, I always order the regular pho tai (beef broth with flank steak or brisket) on the first visit to any new pho joint as an overall measurement. Sadly, while not particularly late, we were told they had run out of beef broth. No soup for you! Fortunately, Beef Stew was on the specials board, one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. My wife ordered it, and I got the bun (rice vermicelli with cuke, lettuce, peanuts, mint, etc, topped with grilled pork, and for an extra $2, an small egg roll. The $2 was not necessary, and this was the first pho place I've seen charge extra for it. It's usually part of the dish, and the surcharge brought the small bowl of bun up to $12.50, in my opinion over the top. But it was good. Not great, not the best I've had by any means, but a good solid bowl of bun. The thinly sliced grilled pork slices were flavorful, but not particularly hot. The beef stew was somewhat disappointing, and I can honestly make this dish better at home. It lacked the rich, aromatic broth, instead being essentially a soup. The flavor was bland, missing the beautiful cinnamon, star anise and other spices that usually make this dish shine. The beef hunks were huge, and it appeared a piece of oxtail or some type of beef bone was thrown in, too. It didn't help. If you haven't tried really good French-influenced Vietnamese beef stew you might find PhoLy's version just fine. We thought it was seriously lacking. Fresh spring rolls before dinner were pretty much by-the-book, good sized, but the wrapper and overall texture was a bit chewy. Not bad, and otherwise fresh tasting. I see some on Yelp have raved about the Bahn Mi, but it didn't look impressive to me. More like a sub sandwich, much more bread than filling, in what appeared to be just a regular loaf of French bread. I can't vouch for the flavor, so give it try. As others have noted, the place is quite small, and there is no waiting area other than a tiny piece of real estate just inside the door. It's clean and decor is nice. Quite a nice little place, really, and the servers were all pleasant and attentive, and very apologetic that we had to wait. Several other things on the menu we need to try -- like actual PHO! -- and PhoLy appears to be off to a good solid start. Again, if you don't feel like driving to East or West Hartford (or even Middletown), this place is a welcome addition to the Vernon area. read more

This is a really great little Vietnamese restaurant. A friend and I were in the area looking for a quick lunch and this little beauty popped up on my Yelp app. It's only been open for 2 weeks (when this review was written) and the interior is very nicely done, although a little bit small. Being small isn't a bad thing but after eating here once I have a feeling PhoLy is going to be popular. We both ordered a bowl of Phò, mine with shrimp and my friend got the brisket. We also ordered a Bahn Mì with Vietnamese cold cuts to share. The Phò was really top notch, the broth was rich and excellently seasoned. A large portion comes with 6 large perfectly cooked shrimp and a side plate with bean sprouts, Viet basil, lime and jalapenos. All the standard sauces are also available for you to add as wanted (I go heavy on the siracha). The Bahn Mì was also good and alot bigger then others that I've had. The Viet cold cuts were decent, I have no idea what kind of animal it came from, but the closest thing I've had to it would be liverwurst although this was less repugnant. Like another reviewer said the pricing is a little on the expensive side for the serving size but well executed. The pho broth was not overly salty. Grilled pork chop had a nice crisp to it. We enjoyed our meal here and were delighted with the friendly, quick servers. We ordered the Chicken Pho (Ga Xe) and Rare Steak Pho (Tai, with added brisket) and found both quite tasty. The regular bowl was plenty for us, but there is a larger serving if you're really empty. We also liked the BBQ Pork (Heo), which was good right down to the bone, though the noodles seemed oddly dry. The spring and beef rolls were just average; a little more marinating might have helped. Prices are fair ($9.50-11 for the Pho). The small restaurant, with 6-8 tables, is spotlessly clean, and the atmosphere is quiet. We'd recommend a visit for anyone in the area. read more

My husband and I went here last night for dinner. I have driven by PhoLy dozens of times and never noticed it because the font on their sign is hard to read. We ordered egg rolls and pho - he had brisket, I had chicken. Have I had better pho? Yes, but this was good, solid pho. The true selling point for me was that they had a TV that was not showing news or sports, but adorable pet videos, and nothing but adorable pet videos. This place is awesome. Family owned and operated. So much pride goes into everything they do. Clean, comfortable, great service and the Pho is amazing. Their pho broth takes 24 hours to make one of the daughters explained to me. It was so authentic. I had the house special beef pho.
