Spring rolls with pork and shrimp overstuffed with lettuce
    Victoria L.

Friendly greeting and quick service. Casual environment. The managers (or maybe owners) greeted me immediately and since I was unfamiliar with the restaurant, gave me a menu to peruse and space to do it The prices are higher than other restaurants serving tbe same dishes. I only ordered the fresh spring rolls (rice paper) with shrimp and pork. For me, this has been an indicator to other Vietnamese dishes at places I've eaten before. They arrived quickly, and with the dipping sauce and chopped peanuts. Fresh ingredients and large rolls. Overstuffed with lettuce - too much - and not enough noodles a protein. The sauce was runnier and sweeter than the typical sauce that comes with this appetizer. Not sure I'll return with mid-tasting rolls and higher prices. But I'm glad I stopped in.

Good pho - rich in flavor. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. Definitely hits the spot

I've been coming to eat here for years. I always get the large Pho Tai and egg rolls. The taste is consistently delicious and I've never had a bad experience. The staff is super friendly and always recognizes me when I come in. There's plenty of tables to sit at inside and outside.

Pho from PhoTasia on a rainy day completely hit the spot. The beef tenderloin with the garlic butter rice, the shumai and the crispy eggrolls were equally delicious. I want to say the food was the best experience at PhoTasia. The restaurant and the customer service were both fair. Nothing special, nothing above and beyond. There was definitely no service as we had to try and get the servers' attention multiple times during our visit here. I also think there might be language barriers but not a deal breaker. I would come back, specifically for the food.

Got egg rolls "to-go", the egg rolls MELTED the container. PhoTasia - Please source different containers for your "to-go" orders to keep your customers healthy.

This place is our go to for Vietnamese in Irvine. We go 1-2 times a week. The food is always freshly made to order (obviously pho is made before ordering) and prepared with care. The staff and owner are really friendly and helpful. They have a great patio seating area with umbrellas or you can choose to eat inside the restaurant. Highly recommend PhoTasia.

So yummy! The little neighborhood marketplace is very chill and laid back, and there were maybe three other parties within the restaurant while we were there. We were immediately seated, food and drinks were SO fast, and the staff were super on top of it and nice! It's always great to have good local food, especially in residential areas where you can simply enjoy a nice walk in the post-drizzle and enjoy the crisp fresh air before filling up with a big hot steaming bowl of goodness. It's a rare luxury to have a restaurant within walking distance, especially a great restaurant! Pho was delicious, and the Vietnamese coffee was yummy too! Generous portions. I got the regular size, and my sister got the large size of the soup. Even with the regular portion, I struggled to finish! Such a nice way to spend a rainy afternoon. Thank you :)

A solid choice for a good bowl of pho in Irvine. Tucked in a nice shopping center near the 405, this place has quick, friendly service, a pleasant interior, and plenty of patio seating. Their pho is tasty, with especially good broth, and their prices are reasonable for Irvine. Recommended when you're craving a comforting bowl of soup. I like the P4- rare steak and brisket pho.

I went with a few friends and it seemed like there was a bit of disorganization with ordering. We all ordered at the same time, but one person got their food immediately while another person got their food 14 minutes later. There are a few things I would say would've improved our experiences.... Things we did not like: 1. The spoons all smelled like chlorine/bleach? I'm not too sure what they can really do about this, but all of the people at our table tasted a pretty noticeable chlorine taste from the spoons 2. The portion sizes seemed to be a bit on the smaller side for the price. If pho-holic could do 12.99 in Newport Beach for a large.... I have no idea why Pho-tasia is charging 15.50 for a small and 16.30 for a large... with small portions. the picture shows how shallow the bowl is. Things that were good: 1. Plenty of parking outside 2. Ambiance is nice 3. Next to the market The reason for the three stars is... The checkout and ordering process was nice and easy with the QR code at the table. It would've been nice to eat with the group altogether instead of waiting 10+ minutes for the last person to get their order. While they offer a generous amount of basil, bean sprouts, and cilantro, the overall amount of pho was disappointing for the price. The taste of the pho checks most people's boxes. Not fantastic nor offensive in taste. The utensils smelled and tasted of chemicals which was unpleasant. Overall, it left my group saying "let's not come back".

    Tri-Color Bean Boba

Decent spot for a quick Vietnamese meal! My friend and I visited this Vietnamese restaurant for lunch, located in the Parkview Center Plaza. The plaza has ample parking, and the restaurant offers a cozy ambiance with a decent seating capacity. If you prefer dining outdoors, there's also plaza seating available. The staff was friendly, and the service was quick and efficient. We started with the Duo Appetizer, which included a spring roll and a crispy egg roll. Both were good, but the crispy egg roll stood out--it was hot, fresh, and flavorful. For the main course, we went with the pho noodle soup: the chicken breast sous vide and the special combo, both in large portions. The noodle and meat quantity was generous, but the broth was a bit underwhelming--lacking the depth of flavor I was expecting. We also tried the tri-color bean drink and the black sea grass jelly drink. The jelly drink was okay, but the tri-color bean drink felt more like a scoopable dessert than a beverage--not my preference. If you're in the area and craving pho, this place is a convenient option, but it might not blow you away. A solid choice for a quick Vietnamese meal!

    Egg Rolls

Instead of a usual pho, as a first timer here in particular, I ordered the grilled chicken thigh piece with the garlic butter rice. It comes with a side of fresh veggies, a small pho broth and a side of fish sauce. I was blown away!! The chicken was tender and juicy, the rice was flavorful and soft (but not in an overcooked way). The only adjustment I'd make is to the broth, which was a tad too salty (but nothing that got in the way of enjoying it). Our side order of eggrolls were piping hot and delicious as well. The service here was great and friendly. We had no waiting time to be seated. This restaurant is located in the parking lot with plenty of parking. I appreciated the decor and overall cleanliness too. We noticed this restaurant has a lot of mirrors inside, but we didn't mind it.

    Chicken Pho
    Daph H.

Ordered online and picked up some pho to go and was pleased to see that it held up quite well! The noodles and piping hot soup were packed separately. I got the Chicken Pho ($14.95), kind of risky because I've found it pretty bland at some restaurants. Luckily this one was pretty flavorful, probably helped by the beef broth. I normally don't like chicken breast but this one was cooked sous vide so it was nice and tender. It came with a bag with bean sprouts, limes, cilantro, jalapeños, Thai basil and a decent portion of noodles, with packets of hoisin sauce and sriracha. It made for a light and healthy meal. Parking in the lot.

It is also surprisingly affordable. Both Orange County locations I have been to (the one in South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa and the one in Jamboree Plaza in Irvine) are sadly in very busy areas. It can be annoying to find parking and/or wait in a long line just to sit down and eat. Thankfully, the food is so good that I will go out of my way to eat there, even if it means having a super early lunch to avoid the typical noon-to-1:00 p.m. lunch crowd. The main thing I love about Marugame is its surprisingly large amount of udon options. You can get the softer-tasting broth or the stronger-tasting broth called BK broth, which is generally my personal go-to because I think it has a more savory yet smooth flavor. There is also a surprising amount of customization, from basic choices like a regular or large size, extra noodles, and whether you want the typical Sanuki-style toppings of tempura flakes and green onions. There are also options like curry udon, beef udon, pork-broth tonkotsu udon, and, more recently, rice bowls. That said, one of my favorite things about Marugame is the number of tempura options. These do not come with the udon, so you generally have to pay roughly a dollar per piece, depending on the type of meat or vegetable you get. For example, the standard tempura choice, shrimp, costs around a dollar each. Thankfully, the shrimp are fairly long and thick, with great batter and flavor. There are also other meat options, such as squid, along with plenty of vegetable options like zucchini and onion. If you are someone who eats out often and likes rewards programs, Marugame has a mobile app where you can earn points toward things like a free Spicy Bomb, extra noodles, or extra tempura. I definitely take advantage of this. Just make sure to either order through the app or save your physical receipt so you can upload it to the app. Overall, when I want great, specialized udon and tempura, you cannot go wrong with Marugame Udon in Orange County, whether you choose the South Coast Plaza location or the Jamboree Plaza location.

While I never thought Capital Noodle Bar was the best noodle joint that you could find in/around Irvine, this place was always so tasty and convenient! Even though they weren't our favorite place, the times we stopped by Capital Noodle Bar was usually on our way to/from the airport for a quick bite. Not only was the restaurant large (snagging a table was never an issue), but our food (typically) came out relatively quick. In addition, their menu was stocked with so many delicious options. It felt a little more Malaysian than Chinese to me, but, regardless, their collection of appetizers, dim sum items, congee, noodle soups, stir fried noodles, entrees, fried rice, and rice plates was so enticing, we couldn't help but come back to try more and more! -- HOT SAUCE TRAY I know it's kind of weird to mention this, but I love their dish of hot sauces. In particular, their jalapenos and chili oil go well with everything we've had here. -- CRISPY TOFU This may not have looked quite like what I had expected, but this was pretty good! The tofu was pillowy soft and piping hot while the outside of it was surprisingly crispy, given how it's not really battered. -- WONTON NOODLE SOUP - Pork & Shrimp Wonton, Egg Noodles We got this as part of their weekday special ($12 all-day, dine-in only), so I'm not sure if the portion size is any different. Either way, this was great. The wonton skins were a little thin, but each piece was plump and juicy, the noodles had a nice bite, and the broth was solid. -- CHAR KWAY TEOW - Shrimp, Chinese Sausage, Bean Sprouts, Egg, and Large Rice Noodles I've been on a bit of a kick ordering this whenever I see it and this was one of the better ones. The noodles were cooked really well (very bouncy), the dish had a slight kick yet it wasn't overly salty/seasoned, and the dish wasn't overloaded with beansprouts. -- SPICY GARLIC CALAMARI Ehh...this wasn't "bad", but it was definitely underwhelming. Although these were seasoned well and had a nice crispiness, the calamari itself was chewy and reminded me of the generic type you get at most other Chinese restaurants. -- TRIO OF BEEF NOODLE SOUP - Sliced Tenderloin, Beef Ball, Beef Stew (Beef Shank, Tripe, Tendon, Carrot), and Egg Noodles I was super hopeful for this one, but it turned out to be just okay. For me, the ingredients tasted fine, but the portion seemed a little light on the beef shank and the broth needed a bit more body to it (felt a little thin). -- CRISPY HAINAN CHICKEN - Deep Fried Dark Meat, Pickled Vegetables, Ginger Rice, Soy Sauce, Ginger, and Chili Sauce Not very traditional, but no less delicious. Boneless Hainan Chicken is appealing enough, but fried, too? While I wish there had been more of it, each piece was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The ginger rice was quite tasty as well! -- WAGYU BEEF POSTICKERS Pretty standard, though, not necessarily in a bad way. Although there wasn't much of a browned bottom/crust on these, I love how big and plump these were and how the filling had a nice, beefy flavor to it. -- HONG KONG STYLE CHOW FUN WITH CHICKEN, Seasonal Greens, Carrot, Mushroom, Egg, Gravy Sauce, and Large Rice Noodles This was just okay for me. The dish had a good ratio of vegetables and meats to noodles, but the gravy didn't do much for me - there was so much of it, it felt more distracting than additive. -- MANGO GREEN TEA Surprisingly, this wasn't nearly as sweet as I feared it would be. The mango flavor in this wasn't super intense and went well with the green tea. Along with how satisfying most of Capital's dishes have been, the other thing that I liked about this place was the staff. Every time we came here, the workers were always friendly and really attentive, even despite how they usually only had one server working. That being said, it has never been all that busy either, which might help explain why their closure. As genuinely bummed as I am to learn that this place has closed, it should be said that it's not like Capital Noodle Bar is gone forever. If you missed your chance to try them, or just want to eat here again, they have another location in Costa Mesa that's still open and just a short drive away. And, as it turns out, it's even closer to the airport, so our pseudo-ritual of stopping off can continue to live on. Thanks for the memories, Irvine Capital Noodle Bar!

Terrible fake Chinese food…read more Spent over 20 bucks for this meat fried with chili. Meat is not fully cooked, and they taste like boiled meat. Extremely salty. The beef that's in the noodles is boarderlne spoiling. The fried dumpling is not even what the description is. In Chinese fried dumpling, they only pan fried the bottom. In this place, they put the dumpling deep fry, and it doesn't come out crispy, it comes out soft. If you go here, only order their cold noodles. Do not order anything else because everything is terrible. Some of the worst money I've ever spent.
