10/10 recommend this restaurant! The best meal I've had in a long time. I love a good Asian fusion meal. Everything I had was delicious. Started with oysters and the pandan roti for apps. The green sauce served with the oyster was perfect. The pandan roti came with roe and coconut cream on the side. At first bite, the roe with the roti was weird but it started growing on me. Very interesting combo. The pork chop was juicy and paired perfectly with the dipping sauce. Also tried the Thai paella. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it but I ended up lovingggg it. Super flavorful and the mussels were juicy. Lastly for dessert, I had the crepe cake. That was the only semi-miss for me. I've had my fair share of crepe cakes and this one didn't do it for me. You guys - this place is worth all the hype! Let's start out by saying the ambiance, decor and vibe is so fun and relaxed. They have this funky leaf wallpaper, outside bar style seating and an exterior train/trolley car that is fire! Appetizers were the albacore, pandan cheese roti and curry puffs (not pictured as everyone devoured it before a photo could be taken). The cheese roti is the Thai version of a quesadilla but it was finished with a drizzle of condensed milk which was an unexpected flavor surprise in my mouth. It seriously could be a dessert! The curry puff was served with a to die for peanut sauce and light refreshing cucumber salad. The only thing wrong with it is that we didn't order enough - it is a must order. The carrot and eggplant were sides but they held their own and could be stand alone small entrees-both had great flavors and the eggplant had little bit of heat which I loved. The paella and prawn curry were equally delicious, robust flavor. Both desserts were scrumptious for different reasons. The crepe cake included a passion fruit and sesame flavor profile and the strawberry rhubarb was so light and airy. The only thing I would change is increase portion sizes!! Came back a 2nd time and wasn't nearly as good as the first. Service felt hurried. Entrees weren't as thoughtfully prepared and it was crazy loud inside and hard to hear the server and my friends. Dessert was again a disappointment. Ordered the crepe cake this time. Still really like the flavors. Going to try to come back on a weekday (when its hopefully less busy). I also think the portion sizes and set up of the restaurant lends itself to a smaller party so going to come back with just my husband, rather than a bunch of friends. Those Mai Tais are still on point as we spent a small fortune on drinks. Still highly recommend and definitely plan to come back but 2nd visit not nearly as good as the first. read more

Basically EEM but with seafood. So if you like EEM you'll prob like this. One comment is on the price to portion size ratio. Prices are quite high compared to the amount of food you get. The food was decent but quite spendy in my opinion. Our favorite was the pork belly however the portion was extremely small making it a lot harder to accept how much it was. I had mixed reviews about the service. They were attentive however I didn't appreciate the over explaining from the server. He explained to our table full of Asians how to eat the Asian food and didn't take the hints that we were very aware how to eat the dishes. It actually really did dampen the vibe. read more

Phuket Cafe was a wonderful brunch experience that included both fantastic dishes as well as an exciting ambiance. I came in at 11:45am on a Saturday as a group of 4 and luckily was able to be seated right away. As this was their first day of opening for brunch, I think we lucked out. The staff was very friendly and welcoming right from the start. I ordered the French toast and the black cod curry. The French toast was not overly sweet and allowed the different components of the dish to mesh well. A fantastic starter. A word of warning on the black cod curry: I like spicy foods and can handle it pretty well, and I thought it had a great kick to it. However, I could easily see it being too much for someone who isn't good with spicy foods. With that note out of the way, this curry had an amazing amount of flavor that was accentuated further by the fiery spiciness. I probably could have downed like 3 bowls of rice to go along with it. The roti, egg, and greens were a very nice accompaniment to the curry. The greens had a nice kick to them as well, but more vinegary, which made for a nice change of pace. The egg was very crispy on the outside while maintaining a perfectly runny yolk. The roti provided a nice chewy texture. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience - fantastic food, friendly staff, and very pleasing aesthetics! I doubt I'll get a chance to walk up and get immediately seated again at this restaurant though, haha. Can't wait to try dinners and explore the cocktail options! read more

Phuket was amazing from start to finish. We got there early to get in line and it was worth every minute. We started with the Pandan Cheese Roti and Muu Kua Grua. The Roti was super tasty and the Grua was really nice as well. Definitely combine the Grua with the garlic and cilantro for the full flavor. Next we got the Curry and Thai Paella. The curry was definitely the best part of the meal it was a burst of flavor but still felt light. We finished with the Pork Chop which was incredible. The tomato relish was super bright and really complimented the Smokey flavor of the pork. I also got the "I can't pay for this..." cocktail which was really nice but I don't know if it was $17 nice. Overall the vibe is awesome the service is fast and fun and the food is amazing. Will definitely be coming back for more. read more

Wonderful meal- I have never been to Thailand but my well traveled friend said the food is very authentic. Cute place. Great service. Four stars only because we were on the sidewalk and so was a homeless person who was singing songs that no one has ever heard of... ugh. So, I reccommend inside or in the trolly car. Be sure to follow the waitpersons reccommendations and those in the reviews. One dish where you can eat the whole fish-- amazing!!! read more

So impressed. This place really understands flavors. They know how to create interesting, delicious dishes that are Thai-inspired, layered with the own chef's new ideas. There is much on the menu to explore -- we will have to come back. I could tell that even the servers were very knowledgeable about food. When I mentioned that to our server, he shared that he had previously worked (elsewhere) as a sous chef. That's representative of the quality of the staff. We chatted with a young couple sitting at a table near us. Turns out they were owners of a food business that operates morning through lunch. They chose to come here for dinner. If this were a Thai restaurant "cafe" as it calls itself it would have excellent small plates and interesting flavors and presentations. It doesn't. And....its wine selection is very weak and makes no effort to complement the food. The "cafe" sits in a street plywood shack---it is not character, it is simply downtrodden. And... it is waaay overpriced. You can do far better at other excellent Thai places in Portland. read more

Got lucky and happened to walk by a couple of days after they started doing lunch service so we changed our plans from Nob Hill food pods to go here and it was a great idea. We shared the chicken wings, salad with citrus, the pad see ew and the Chinese broccoli. Everything was excellent but the broccoli and the salad both stood out as extra special. Everything was super flavorful and we were very pleasantly surprised by the bill. We expected it to be much higher. Everyone was super friendly and the service was great! read more

We got a reservation last minute and unfortunately had to rush dinner a bit but holy moly was it fantastic. We couldn't decide so we got the ribeye and the pork chop. The pork chop had a better flavor as you could really taste the smokiness. We also had the oysters and the fried shallots made it! Phuket has been in our neighborhood for awhile and we just got around to trying it out recently. I highly recommend the Miang Plaa Jaramed and Vegan Curry. Miang Plaa Jaramed is a variation of Miang Kham only with a deep fried fish (edible bones included). A great blend of flavors and lovely start to the evening. The Vegan Curry has a subtle yet rich curry sauce that I couldn't get enough of. Normally I find curries lackluster and watered down, but not this version. My only criticism would be how they make daiquiris. Though listed as 'Classic', they're really not, there's too much ice which waters down the drink. I would suggest they look up the original recipe for a Floridita Daquiri on Imbibe.com. It's much more interesting than what we were served. If you want a table inside the restaurant be sure to make a reservation. We were there in the middle of the week and they were packed. We will definitely go back to try out other items on the menu. My friends had been telling me they wanted to go here and when I had the opportunity I had to go. Everything that you see on here looks the same in person and while the food is good, I really don't understand the price point. First the positive. 4.5/5-atmosphere-This place is a vibe. It's really cool inside and everyone seems to order a variety of food so you can see the drinks and various dishes on every table. Part of the kitchen is on display so you can see people preparing food and the bar is beautiful. The only downside is don't expect to have deep conversations if it's busy because I had to yell to talk to my friend seated next to me. I think I would have chosen outside had it not been so cold. It's really hard to hear anything when it was so packed. 4/5- Service- The waiter we had was very nice and checked in often. There was a girl shadowing her that just stood behind her and it was kinda awkward. I would hope in the future they would introduce both people and tell us she's in training so we don't have two people staring at us with no explanation. With that being said, taking plates is very nice but I felt a bit like I was being hovered over. I also asked to box our food and had to tell her 3 times that I would prefer to box it over her doing it. I don't know if they have a rule that the waiter is suppose to but that felt very uncomfortable having to repeat that I can box my own food. That being said everyone seemed nice. 3/5- Food- The 60+ steak was good but not filling or as flavorful as I was expecting for dry aged. The broccolini was 3 spears for 16 dollars. I was very disappointed. We got the special fish appetizer for 10 dollars that was 4 pieces of 1 and a half inch cubes of fish that wasn't anything I would buy again. The curry was the highlight of the night. The prawns were beautiful and the sauce was an explosion of lemongrass and spices that had a kick of heat. The portion size was still smaller than I was hoping but this place operates off of the fine dining feel. My friend and I both got non-alcoholic beverages that were pretty lackluster. I saw a lot of people enjoy drinks and think the mixed drinks would likely hit better. We had the crepe looking dessert because it just looked so good and I was honestly really dissatisfied. It didn't have a taste to it except the mango moose on top( if you do want this dessert ask for a bucket of that stuff. It's delish). That being said, I have gone to fine dining places and understand the presentation of food, but the food has to meet or exceed my expectations to come back and unfortunately it just didn't hit. For ~$180 buck for two people, I just wanted more. I really think the vibe is what makes this place cool and while the food is better than your local Thai joint, I don't think the mark up on food was justified. I feel bad writing this review because I know this is a brand new business but after reading previous reviews I expected this place to blow me out of the water. I love EEM and have gone to great lengths for burnt end curry but this place isn't the same food nor does it live up to the hype for me. That being said..... if you want a cool place to grab drinks and a couple apps or a LIGHT dinner and are willing to fork up some money, this is your spot. If your looking for something that will fill you up, there's other places in Portland I think does the vibe and food justice (gado gado wink wink). read more

The bartender here bullied me (kindly) into ordering everything and it was worth it. Give that man a raise. He was the best wing man at the bar. We started off with the hamachi. The fish was fresh, the sauce was zesty, the fennel was a good texture contrast to the fish and everything was served at an appropriate cold temperature. The pork belly was whatever. It tasted like pork belly that was left on the kbbq grill for a lil too long but still flavorful. The pandan cheese roti was reminiscent of a quesadilla with sweet condensed milk (flavors reminded me of a Vietnamese Chè Thái). Good balance of sweet and savory. The curry puffs were as if a samosa and an empanada birthed something beautiful. Nice, crispy, and flavorful. THE FISH HOLY SHOOOOOT. It was cooked to a crisp then lathered with a sweet and salty fish sauce that paired so well. The Thai chili gave it a good kick and balance and it was served in bite sized pieces. I ate everything! Prawn curry was the same old (but excellent) Earl Nimson curry that we all love. 11/10 would go back and spend my whole life saving again. read more

the food looked delicious in pictures, but we went on a weekday and there was an 1.5 hr wait. We luckily snagged a menu to see what we wanted to order, and the prices were outrageous. Only 4 main course options, with curry starting at $18 and a ribeye at $65. The "snacks" listed on the menu were small plates so imo, not worth the price. Overall, not worth this much of Thai food.
