The rest of the photos on their listing and pretty much all of Google images turned up no 'pizza' shaped quite like the one I was delivered...I can only imagine it must be a Swiss rendition since it also came with holes. I was served it right out of the oven, transported it carefully and nearby, and consumed it as soon as it was at a safe temperature, so none of those factors are to blame for the structural disaster of a pie that lacked any punch of deliciousness. The Eat24 pickup order of Diavola Pizza (Lunch*) -- Tomato, mozzarella, spicy salami -- was ready at the time I specified way ahead of time, and the staffers were friendly (hence 2 stars rather than 1), but unfortunately the price is just absurd (*$16.28 after tax, same price as dinner -- especially crazy since it's cash or Amex if you don't order online) and the product is way off the mark. Stick with Prince Street Pizza for a far better and cheaper similar slice; guess this is why I of thousands of bookmarks hadn't had this place marked for a future visit despite the stellar rating, which certainly seems way off base. read more

Ordered delivery. No indication that the pizza would be the smallest I've ever had delivered. No indication that my pizza was actually more like a pita, two pieces of bread stuffed with the described toppings. This place is a great find! I stopped in by myself for dinner and wine. The owner/ bartender was very helpful in making suggestions and was very kind! I had the octopus, arugula and fennel salad... Amazing! I also had truffle, mushroom pasta that was great! The pizza looked delicious so I'll be back to try it... Definitely worth stopping in if you're in the area. read more

My friend just mooved to the heart of Little Italy because... why not? We got real drunk and needed an exciting Italian food adventure and this place was still open, and empty. Usually I'd think twice about going into a random empty restaurant but I'd had most of a bottle of wine so why not? (Notice the theme here) We ordered a bunch of pizzas and our brilliant server (who I started calling Maestro and he totally went with it) brought us a recommended bottle of fantastic bruzzo (or something that sounded like that word) and the pizzas were done in what felt like 8 seconds flat. THEN. A beautiful magical ewok of a puppy came in with a weird foreign couple and started dancing for treats and letting us play with her. Her name was Samantha. THEN. A supermodel walks in, also a friend of the establishment, with her date for drinks. More happy models and cool kids stream in. The once-empty cavern is now full of happy beautiful European superpeople. We sat in awe of them chatting away, got Maestro's real name - Marco - and happily tumbled out into the street. "Finito." This is what our waiter (also apparently the manager of the place, from what I could tell) told us when we asked for an additional basket of bread stick. Hopefully, it will also be what everyone says to considering supporting their business further. I called a day prior to make a reservation, because we had 11 people in total. When we arrived they attempted to squeeze in a customer before us because we arrived roughly 20 minutes early at the table they cleared for us. So we awkwardly stood beside the table and watched them hustle these two ladies through a full meal in sub-20 minutes (ordering and everything). Anyways, back to the bread sticks. Aside from the portions being pathetic, at best, we received two baskets of break for each side of the table (remember, 11 people). The food didn't come out for forever so another round was brought out. When the food finally did come out, we asked if we could have a third, particularly because some people had to split bread and everyone was starving (compounded by paltry serving size). It was then the manager infamously said "Finito." We were effectively told we were not allowed anymore. Being an Italian abroad I am quite picky about food and especially about ingredients. I found their pizza amazingly prepared with fresh ingredients and I loved the fact that they don't offer American versions of Italian dishes unless most places . The only complaint I have is about the size of the pizza, I've been there with 3 girls and we don't eat that much but we found the pizza a little small for the price (15$) That's the only reason I'm not putting 5 stars read more

Went here on my recent east coast visit and they definitely had one of the best pizzas I had in NY. I went at around 11pm on a Thursday night and this place was empty except for a table of girls just having some wine. VERY dimly lit so I had a hard time reading the menu. All the dishes are listed in Italian with English descriptions (thank god!). We settled on a spicy prosciutto pizza and the scallop with mushroom appetizer. The scallops came first and they were TINY. The mushrooms were very undercooked, almost raw. The scallops were perfectly cooked but really sandy. I couldn't bite down all the way when I chewed them cos I could hear the crunch crunch of sand gritting in my teeth. Pizza was VERY GOOD though. That, I would come back for. I also noticed their pizza delivery guy was in and out the whole time I was there. That's where there customers were, at home waiting for their pizza to get delivered. read more

An outstanding little trattoria with nice outdoor seating in the spring and summer. The pizzas are first rate and I had the pappardelle with boar and mushrooms and it was simply wonderful. Service was excellent but it was mid afternoon and we were one of three tables so you kind of hope that it will be. They only take Amex or cash, an odd combination, so I drop them a star for a lack of credit card democracy. They all seem a bit green to the restaurant game, but they are doing a pretty stellar job with the food, so the front of the house stuff will come in time. read more

Great brick oven pizza located in little italy. This is the clsoest it gets to eating pizza in italy. You get many choices with fresh vegtables and what not. And the important thing - it tastes great. 2 downers for this place: 1. No cappucino cofee (why not??) 2. They don't accept credit. (Only American express but who uses that anyway). But the Gnocchi is some of the heaviest I've ever tasted - and I've had better pesto from a tube! Tried this place with my wife and adult children this past Sunday, because the restaurant I really wanted to go to had a two hour wait and all of us were very hungry. My initial thought was to share a couple of pizzas, have some beer or wine, and talk and catch up while we waited for the other restaurant to text me that our table was ready. Well, as they say "the best laid plans..." I'm giving this place two stars, one for the pizza and the other for the service. Usually when I write a review, I assign stars as follows: 1 for food, 1 for service, 1 for ambiance and 1 for value. A fifth star would be if the restaurant was truly outstanding in one or more categories. So, as you can probably tell by now, the ambiance and the value just wasn't there. As for the food, if Yelp allowed half star ratings, then a half star for the pizza, which was very good, would have been all they would have got... because the rest of the food we ordered was awful. (Oh, did I forget to mention that since we hadn't heard back from the other restaurant right after we finished our pizza, beer and wine, the family out voted me about waiting and just wanted to stay at Piacere for the rest of dinner?) So, I thought to myself "Well, the pizza was really good, why not stay for dinner?" Turned out to be a very bad decision. Between the five of us, we had two orders of the grilled calamari with arugula and fennel; two orders of the paparadella special with a wild boar ragu; spaghetti with wild mushrooms and truffle; and an appetizer special of baked calamari in tomato sauce with peas. I did have at least a taste of everything, so I can say first hand that all of the above were very bland and tasteless, and way overpriced for the size of the portions. And it's really too bad, because Piacere could be a really great place, having a wood burning oven and very well made fresh pasta and a great pizza dough. All they really need is a much better Italian red sauce gravy. (My bet is that they use the same bland tomato sauce in their dishes as they use on their pizza. Any great Italian restaurant knows bland is good for pizza, but you need that "old family Italian gravy" recipe for everything else.) Moral of the story for me is... next time I go into an Italian restaurant that has a nice wood burning oven for pizza and beer, and the ambiance is just that of a pizza place, don't bother eating anything else there, you'll probably be disappointed. read more

They are cash only, so beware. They also take Amex, but who has an Amex card? I had a margarita pizza and linguine with clams. The pizza was excellent, I think it was at least on par with Grimaldi's. The clams and linguine had an excellent sauce and came in a decent sized portion. Service was good, the server was knowledgeable and everyone was friendly. They know how to run a business and they are passionate about food and making customers happy. The ambiance is nice, it's a good place for a date. I was in the immediate area at 1 AM and was looking for a bite to eat. I expected bad food, I really did. Man, was I surprised. We ordered the margarita and the San Daniel pizzas. Just watching that oven, I knew I was in for a treat. The crust was thin and crunchy, but the sauce really made it. We popped in here on a cold weekday and I was excited to try the food here. The place is intimate and rustic, similar to Italian pizzerias in Italy with exposed brick, long communal wooden tables and the big pizza oven in the back. Getting to the food, we started with the polpo & patate (octopus was a bit overcooked and chewy) which I would pass on next time. For pizzas, we tried the margherita (simple but good) and the affumicata (smoked mozzarella, spinach and speck that was ok) but they were not well-done as I asked which I think adds a little more char/flavor to the pizzas so I was slightly disappointed. Overall, the service was attentive and atmosphere is great, but I was a little disappointed with the food. We decided to stop in for some authentic Italian while we were passing through. We were the only people in this place almost the entire time we were there. Some people would look at the menu outside but decide not to come in... fools. My friend and I just wanted some lunch, so we decided to share some salad with tomatoes and avocados as well as some cannelloni with tomato and basil. Both of them were delicious - perfectly cooked and FRESH. We also decided to try their tiramisu and we almost melted in our seats with how delicious it was. Seriously - get it. Fantastico! This place is owned by authentic Italians. Pizza oven is WOOD burning, not gas. The Moretti Rosso is draft beer that is smooth and deliciouso!! Right on the outskirts of mulberry street but the food is great and authentic. The pizza phenomenal! The fresh pappardelle is out of this world. The best Italian food outside Italy, really. Honestly, the food taste like in Italy, in well known areas of the country. Do no hesitate to have a lunch or dinner there, and try their pastas with truffles/tartufo or any other dish. It is full of flavor, tasteful like in Italy. Ordered a late night pizza for pick up. Super friendly staff and excellent pizza. They only do one-size wood fired, which was perfect for a post-bar snack. Between the dim lighting, rustic picnic style seating, and the bustling of the fire crackling from the brick oven can make any cold evening enjoyable. The Burrata with speck over arugula was delicious! Cons: While the pizza was thin crusted and cooked to perfection, the crust was way too salty. Pizza is Ok, but better can be had in NYC. It's completely overpriced individual pizzas only. No liquor license, so beer and wine only. The server kept flirting (aggressively) with a married woman in our party, it was very awkward. Worst of all, there is a sign on the door saying American Express cards are accepted, but no mention that it's the only card they accept is American Express cards. They were very quick to recommend their card scanning ATM in the bathroom though... Total scam, don't eat here until they change this. I have eaten here well over twenty times and the food is consistently great as is the atmosphere. It has a casual feel in a perfect way. Great for family, friends or a date as it has a warm vibe, great music and the volume of the space never seems too loud or too quiet. There's a wood burning oven in the corner and that combined with the warm tones of the lighting and the wood tables makes for a nice feel. The owners and the team working here are always friendly and attentive. And not just because I've been to this restaurant often. I've sent friends to Piacere who have all later thanked me for the great recommendation. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and there is always an excellent wine to choose from. The pizza was good but the service was bad. Their was 3 servers and all of them were on their computer or cell phones. It was a sad place to go. I was waiting for at least one person to come up and ask if we wanted more to drink, I probably still be waiting. So my boyfriend had to go to them and ask for my drinks. I would never come back. Oh my God, what a Gem!!! We discovered Piacere some night last year, after being out a little too late. We closed down the restaurant with all three owners, who double as waiter/bartender/pizzaiolo. What a riot! We had so much fun with them and had the best pizza in Nolita (in NY??)! It melted in my mouth as I scarfed down every morsel; it was amazing. My ten year old niece and I ate here earlier this week. It was wonderful. I loved the rustic wood interior and the warm lighting of the room. The owner and cook were really friendly and accommodating. They made a special plate of pasta for my niece with just butter and parmesan and she loved it. It's hard to mess up something so simple, but it is also hard to make it memorable, and it was to her. I had the Affumicata which is a pizza made with smoked mozzarella, spinach and speck. It was delicious! The subtle hint of smoke from the cheese, combined with the earthy spinach and silky, salty speck made this pizza one of the best I've ever had. The crust was as good as any pizza I have had in Italy. To top it off, you can add a drizzle of their wonderfully spicy olive oil. Awesome! This place has only been around seven months and I will be sure to return every time I am in New York. read more
