Visited this place last Saturday night and I have to tell you, very disappointing to say the least. The only reason I did not give it a 1 star was because our server was amazing and tried to make our night better. Let's start off with Ambiance, mediocre at best, place could use a facelift. I felt like I was in a dance studio. Place definitely needs a facelift. Food: Not sure where the chef learned to cook but he needs to understand what seasoning food means. The calamari appetizer, which was "gluten" free, made up for the lack of gluten by adding a pound of salt. Rice balls were ok, but mozzarella in the center was not melted, thus why they were a little cold. The chicken Marsala....hmmm...chicken on top of pasta with some sort of purple brown sauce on it which did not even come close to Marsala. The two fish dishes were good although they could not figure out the correct sides on those dishes, but, hey, I can see where you confuse fingerling potatoes with Parmesan truffle fries.... SMH.... Finally, the Rigatoni and sausage pasta dish, tomato creamy sauce tossed with rigatoni...which probably had 0.5 ounces of sausage in it. Flavor was ok, just lacked substance. Server apologized to us several times but not her fault, you can tell the head cook had an attitude with how he was responding to the staff. Also, when the old lady came over, either a manager or owner, she had the best attitude (sarcasm) like she really cared..... we will not be back..... good luck! read more

I was pretty less than pleased with my visit to Piastra. We sat at the bar since we didn't have a reservation and it was so busy. Our server/bartender seemed busy, so we were understanding of that, but I feel like my orders, in particular, were always neglected. She only brought out my friends gluten free bread and then had to be reminded to bring bread for me. She remembered to bring the appetizer my friend ordered, but she forgot to put in the Caesar salad I ordered as a starter, so I didn't get it until after my entree came out. Overall, the food was quite bland and the best part of the meal was the bread. I doubt I'll return. Please be sure to treat all your paying customers with respect. I know Saturday nights can be busy, but the negligence of forgetting my orders seemed almost blatant. read more

The owner said he'd take half off and they offered me a plate of spaghetti;( I will probably never come back here or recommend this place. Hidden gem. While I was visiting Marietta, I ducked into this charming place for a little lunch. Right off Marietta Square, the deeply wooden antique bar seemed to call out to me. The staff was fantastic. So friendly and helpful, offering menu suggestions and pleasant chit chat. I decided on a local crafted hard cider and a roasted garlic, goat cheese and basil pizza. We used Piastra for our rehearsal dinner. Food was okay. A couple of my family members ordered Pork and they all sent them back, saying it wasn't cooked all the way. The service was also a bit slow, took about an hour and 45 minutes to receive food from the start of the dinner. We had about 38 people, with a couple people that we had to accommodate new seating for. But overall, not a bad experience, I just wasn't wowed. A little gem on Marietta Square. They have some limited seating outside so if you are interested in not being indoors I suggest a reservation in advance. They do have tables very well situated inside for social distancing. Friendly staff who are working hard to make sure you are happy. We started by sharing the Mozzarella Scottato. This is a good appetizer for sharing and it was crispy and gooey and the tomatoes on top were just delicious. The only sad part is the server did not bring the bread service until after this was served so we missed pairing it with the lovely crostini they served as part of the bread service. Speaking of, the bread service was really nice and they served it with roasted garlic and olive oil. For dinner we enjoyed the lasagna with the house-made sausage on the side, the gambieri putanesca and the special of the day which included a lovely pork tenderloin and gorgonzola sauce. The manager doesn't know how to deal with customer concerns. On Mother's Day a group of 6 went to the restaurant as part of a theater/dinner package. When we questioned the bill, the manager came over with rude comments, that were unprovoked, and without basis. We simply wanted to understand why there was an outstanding balance when we had paid more than the bill total. We will NOT be going back again. We are so blessed to have a restaurant in our home town that provides first class service and delicious food. Our party of six enjoyed our meal with perfection from the first pour of water down to the assortment of delightful desserts (the tiramisu is my fav!!). The servers were hustling, no slackers in this place! The view of the chefs busy every second made me excited to have my first bite of food and it was well worth the wait ( fresh to order is not fast food service so I always align my expectations accordingly and it's always worth it-it astounds me the arrogance of people who complain about waiting for their food in a restaurant like this-and I find it's usually people who have zero clue what goes on behind the scenes and just like to whine and complain about everything that isn't instant-if someone overlooks silverware for instance then speak up. If you are outside then go in if you feel too much time has lapsed for instance it's really very simple-these people are working their asses off they are not wasting time as you find in other establishments ). Our food was authentic, absolutely served perfectly and the bread, freshly made, was very hard to resist. The assortment of wine is a bonus, we love our Tuscan varieties. The lasagna is always a great choice. I had the ravioli special and it was truly the best I have ever had. I had the ravioli and a very strong apple martini, so amazing! The atmosphere/ vibe was mellow and the service was great. However, I believe the staff is being mistreated there was an older woman walking around (not sure if she is the manager or the owner) but she was berating the staff and being extremely rude to the point where myself and others could hear and see this. Tonight was my first but not my last visit to this establishment. From the moment I walked it I fell in love with the very quaint and inviting atmosphere. My date and I was seated at a table in a window by the bar. Being a weeknight, it was not as busy making this a perfect setting for a romantic dinner. We started with the Bruschetta and was not disappointed. The pesto was amazing in the thinly sliced bread with Roma tomatoes. For the main course, I ordered the Branzino Di Salo, Sea Bass, hesitantly, as in the past, at other restaurants, the preparation made the fish very dry. But I do love a perfectly prepared sea bass so I took the chance. To my delight, the dish was perfect. Passing on Piastra from now on. My guy and I stopped by back in December to get some apps and wine before a show at the theater. It was all good. Based on that, invited friends to meet us there this weekend for dinner. Out of the 3 appetizers and 4 entrees (one lasagna, two fish specials, one pasta special) only the lasagna and the salads were good. Could not make heads or tails out of the pasta dish, which was supposed to be cavatelli but was more like little leaden dumplings in an oily sauce. The fish was overdone and the side black-eyed pea ratatouille was underdone. I feel bad writing this, as the owner was sweet and came over to say hello and our server was so nice. However, if you are going to spend well over $100 for two, it should be on food that is all delicious. UPDATE: I appreciate the owner reaching out to me, and he is right - he gently suggested that I should have spoken up there instead of leaving unhappy, and that they would have made things right for me. Let me start with saying the service was great, fantastic. The wine selection was nice and long as well. The food was ok. The lasagna was made with homemade mozzarella but even with that was just ok. The veal parmigiana was bland and needed some flavoring/salt. We had mussels to start and they may have been the worse mussels I've ever had. Very "bad/off" smell to the point we were worried to eat them. When we had a few that tasted bad we quit eating them. I previously had two pleasant dinners at Piastra. Unfortunately, tonight, dining there for my wife's birthday, was disappointing. Our server kept apologizing for disappearing, because she had to attend to a large party in another room. The bread basket was nice, served with roasted garlic cloves in olive oil. We ordered Arancini as appetizers - they were very creamy and tasty, served with some grated cheese and a sauce, but were delivered and consumed well before the server returned to take our entree orders, let alone delivering entrees to keep the meal moving along. The three of us each ordered a white wine flight - three different whites of three ounces each. The server brought the first two rounds and again disappeared for about ten minutes before delivering the third glasses. That is just poor execution. My wife seldom complains, but said the chicken parm was rubbery, without a crispy breading. I had the brodetto, which used a great recipe - mussels, clams, breaded calamari rings and fish, served with grilled bread to dip in the spicy, creamy sauce, and served over polenta, but the execution was off. Three of the four mussels were just empty shells. The two shrimp were large, firm, fresh tasting and cooked just right, but the opened shells were left attached to the tails - I've never seen that before, and the small piece of fish was rubbery. The host at the desk pulled double duty, refilling my water, but instead of holding the carafe above the glass, not touching it, he placed it hard against the inside of the glass, cross contaminating the carafe, my glass and everyone else's before and after. I wouldn't touch the glass after that and would expect better training at a Steak N Shake. Piastra could again be a worthy, upscale Italian restaurant, but as it stands, can't compete even with Olive Garden, let alone Carrabbas, Modena or Fusco's in Acworth. I won't be back unless there are significant improvements. read more

Food was Delicious! Received a complimentary box of Chocolate covered strawberries after our dinner - regards from the Chef himself! Quite a treat! We were the last patrons at the restaurant arrived around 9:40pm; just enough time before their closure @ 10pm. We had just walked in from the Dinner + Play @ the Marrietta Theater Company - watched the 5 Course of for Valentine's weekend. We were worried that the restaurant would close early. But, was saved on dinner hunger from the wait during the play to curb our appetite! To my surprise for an Italian restaurant, servers were friendly with close attention to our needs and food was awesome! I rarely dine at an Italian restaurant as I'm usually disappointed with the savory of the food. Not this one... I was quite blown away from the yummy & rresistible food! I will begin my saying our service was awesome! Our waitress was very friendly and kind. We came during restaurant week so we ordered from the pre-fix menu. For appetizers we had Caesar salad and bruschetta. The bruschetta was four tiny pieces of bread with a green sauce and one single tomato. I didn't care for it and neither did my bf. For dinner we had two pasta dishes and both were pretty bland. I think mine had a little more flavorful because it was a pork dish. The pasta itself did not have any flavor. The desserts were also mediocre. It was a beautiful presentation but the cannoli lacked flavor and sugar. The chocolate dish had a warm sauce poured over it and I think it ruined the actually cake. We had a great time due to the service, nice atmosphere, and company but we probably wouldn't go back. read more

After being advised by a couple of friends to not go to this restaurant, I decided to give it a shot anyway because it has 4.1 stars online. My friend's experience included bad food and bad service. I placed a togo order, and it took 40 min. I ordered the mozzarella appetizer, and it was missing any kind of seasoning, and there was no basil or balsamic, which the menu describes it having. After adding fresh basil, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, and lots of salt, it's still inedible, and it's absolutely terrible!! I also ordered the tiramisu for dessert, and there is something all over the outside of the container! Someone had to load this up, and think it was acceptable to put a filthy container in the togo bag! I also ordered the little neck clam tagliatelle, and there are only five tiny clams in the entire dish! One of them is so dry and rubbery, I won't be able to eat it. The three items totaled $38, before tip. It was a complete waste of money, and now I'm figuring out what I can eat at home. I have no idea who's rating this place any more than one star. While we were there, waiting on our food, we heard another table speak to a manager about the poor service they had received. I wish I would've listened to the people who advised me not to go! I will never be back here again. Follow up: After calling the restaurant and speaking to the owner, he was very apologetic and comped our bill. This place is spot on! I ordered the lasagna which has fresh house-made Pasta wrapped around Ricotta and Spinach with Mozzarella and Provolone, topped with Pomodoro. This dish is amazing. The flavor is on point and the lunch portion is just enough. Because this is a vegetarian dish, I didn't feel overly full. The dish contained just enough sauce and wasn't over saturated. Ambience: The restaurant is small and quaint. I am in love with this place. The restaurant is dark, but warm and the decorations are inviting. This is the perfect location for a date night. Staff: I ordered my dish to go but the waitress was very nice. She approached me when I walked into the door and didn't make me wait long for my order. We went for a celebratory dinner earlier this week at Piastra. Since COVID began, we have very rarely dined in at a restaurant, but I felt strongly that they would follow all necessary regulations. To say they met my expectations is an understatement. Tables have been spaced very far apart, all of the staff were wearing masks (and wearing them correctly!), individual spoons were wrapped, etc. We are always pleased with the quality of food and service, but I was thrilled that they are clearly taking COVID seriously and I felt as safe eating there as you possible can. read more

The bruschetta photographed online had fresh tomatoes. What came to our table was a dish of bland cheese with maybe a single spoonful of some sort of concentrated tomatoes. No arugula pesto as listed. The accompanying bread wasn't grilled all the way and was so oily it wouldn't tear and when folded oil was seeping out. The sauce in both my husband's and my dish had way too much garlic, cream, and what tasted like sugar to be a Bolognese and sausage rigatoni. We sent back only the appetizer because at that point we just felt bad for the small business after trying to ignore existing online reviews and try Piastra ourselves. Staff was friendly until an older woman came to our table and ask how our meal was only to make comments like "so you passed on the bruschetta" or "that's a lot of pasta left on your plate." I recently at at Piastra with my book club and I can't wait to go back. I had the arugula salad, lasagna, and a poached pear desert that was to die for! The chesses wisps on the salad were delish! The lasagna was so good I couldn't stop eating it and finished a portion that I thought looked huge! (Going in I thought I would save half of it!). I have been here quite a few times now as this is my local Italian spot. Husband and I walk up to the square a few nights a week for dinner and we do enjoy this place when we are craving Italian. We've tried quite a few items on their menu and I have to say the most consistent items are their pasta with a red meat sauce. I love their tomato sauces with meat. Very flavorful. And they actually have decent pizza. I prefer my pizza a tad thinner than what they serve but overall their pizzas are flavorful too. We have yet to find an appetizer that we really love. While the apps are OK, they do lack a little flavor and presentation. Unfortunately I was most disappointed with the lasagne. I don't know if it was a slow night when I had it but I was served a very dry lasagne. It was also on a night where my husbands order got served to someone else and we had to wait for them to remake his dish. So I don't know if my lasagne was sitting under a heat lamp while his dish was being remade. The service here is usually really good. Everyone is nice. I've never had an issue with the service. And they have a ton of wines. Which is nice to have the variety. Overall this place has a lot of potential. I give credit to the chef for trying new things. And if your are OTP and in the area, this is a good option for Italian. But for me, if I stick to the few items that always turn out great then I am never disappointed. I would like to see the space updated a bit. It's a cute space but it is very simple. The square is starting to up their game with regards to restaurants and the decor and design of the restaurants and I would like to see this space be able to compete long term. The heath pasta was in a cream sauce with broccoli, spicy sausage and chicken. At first my dish came out with out the grilled chicken but they brought it out shortly after. My dish was good. The bolognese was pretty plain. It was pretty quiet on a Sunday and not very busy. I have a feeling that dinner will be a different story - more than just an average meal so we intend to return.
