I'm giving this 3 stars because my friend, Rich was far too harsh in his review last night. It's true it took an hour to get our food. We sat down, starving, and people who literally sat down after us had finished and left before we got our food. It's much more infuriating to experience this when you waited 20 minutes to sit and were faint from hunger than reading these words in the palm of your suburban-softened hands. The menu was quite fun to use. It felt like an ancient tome pulled off the bookshelf of an eccentric Englishman who had recovered it from his campaigns in Africa. Food itself was ok, I'll probably get the pizza next time. Our experience stands at a 3. It's inexcusable that the staff didn't explain the eternity we had to wait to get our food. But over all, ill call it "good for Florida". read more

I love this place, The food is delicious. Last night I had the caprese salad. Oh so good. They have a little homemade pesto on the side. Next I had the parmesan garlic twists. They were also great. The "kitchen sink" pizza was so huge and tasty. There was plenty to take home for later or for family members who worked late and had not had dinner yet! The wine list is so good. It is small but the wines I have had were fantastic! There was a little wait when I got there, but the staff is so friendly and offered a drink while I waited. Another wonderful restaurant experience thanks to Yelp helping me find this gem. The wait was a little long before the waitress asked for our drinks and when we first walked in we just stood there for a few minutes wondering if we were to seat ourselves or wait to be sat. We waited and eventually someone assisted us. Once we did have the waitresses attention she was very god at recommending items as well as extras like adding ricotta to the meatball pizza. The interior is very nice and from the other patrons the wine must be good because everyone except I had a glass. I love Eggplant Parmesan and since the menu listed theirs as crispy I had to try it. I was disappointed. They bake it in a dish with the sauce and cheese, how that is ever supposed to be crispy I will never understand. However, there was LOTS of cheese and very good flavor, plus the breadsticks were heavenly soft and fluffy with lots of garlic! They also have good sweet tea :) read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants! Don't let the location fool you ( I almost never eat in a strip mall!) The staff is friendly and there is a great wine selection. The chef is amazing! We love the pescado and the spicy penne arribiata. Also the pizza is the best in town!! read more

We LOVE Picasso's. Always have good service and great food. Last time we ordered to-go, got home to find someone was a little heavy handed with salt but it was still good. No impressed. The food was just mediocre - after all of the rave reviews, it was just OK. Kudos for the fresh pasta, but the Alfredo was nothing special. The garlic cheese bread was also just so-so. Nothing I'd go out of my way for. And we were shocked to see how dirty the floors were, and how worn the tables are. It's not a great impression when the front of the house isn't clean - raises concerns over the back of the house. All in all - it was just OK; nothing I'd go out of my way to return for. read more

Fantastic gourmet food at a great price! Not just a another pizza place. Heart and soul pours into this Italian-am fare. Fresh creative ingredients that go beyond hand-cut pepperoni and artichoke hearts. Picasso's employs a chef and serving staff that truly enjoy making the experience a pleasant one. My server, Mauricio, was very accommodating and knowledgeable. I started with the gumbo. I will preface this in saying that I have traveled all over the US including to NOLA. I am a connoisseur. If a place has fresh made gumbo, I consider it my litmus test of that establishment. Considering, I was just coming in to get a slice of pizza and a beer, I didn't put too much initial stock (pun intended) into my faith in their gumbo, however.... Picasso's gumbo has to be in my top 3 that I have ever tasted. The combination of dark roux and homemade stock create a distinct Smokey flavor that are essence of a fantastic gumbo. It tastes like they add freshly sauteed veggies to each order because the celery and scallions had a slight crunch that added to the texture. The gumbo was then topped with Fresh blackened shrimp! Spicy and delicious and highly recommended if you like a good spicy gumbo. The special was seared barrel fish served with polenta and steamed baby kale. I witnessed several orders go out and it looked very impressive. It was a late lunch for me and they had stopped serving slices of pizza so, I ordered an Eggplant Parmesan with hot capicola sub. Not on the menu but, these guys were able to put together one of the best I've ever had. I added a pic to this review. I personally always go for something off their specials board. If you are ever there and the Ribeye is available you have to try it! On our way home after a 10 day road trip, my family and I needed a change from all the fried chicken, BBQ, etc. So we searched for pizza right off of our route. Not only did this pizzeria live up to the high reviews and comments it left me wishing for a location near home. We arrived around 5pm as a group of seven and were seated immediately. The location was clean and the service was incredible. Our waiter Jordan was courteous and on top of all of our needs. All the food we ordered was delicious and tasted very fresh. We ordered both the bread twists and the cheese breads as appetizers. We ordered both the New York and St. Louis style pizzas, both were hot and full of flavor. Considering all the food was freshly made, the length of our visit from start to finish was expected. (About an hour) All the staff was friendly and helpful, we left very happy and full. The decor was very artsy hence the name Picasso's and the food is AH-MAZING!!! They have a slogan (Picasso's, where food is art") Love it! This restaurant is known for taking pride in their food and using the freshest ingredients. Their Shrimp and Grits which is probably the best I have had to date. Welll....I love the Shrimp and Grits from Brick but this comes pretty darn close in comparison! The shrimp were decadent and the flavors of the grits and broth were perfection! I especially loved the bits of tasso or smoked bacon bites garnished atop the dish! It adds a great pops of flavor! This pizza.....this pizza right here...was seriously gone in 5 minutes, tops!!! It was the Saint Louis pizza, which according to the menu, has been voted the best in St. Louis every year for the last 40 years. I love thin crust pizzas so that was the first plus! It also had several different blends of cheeses including a smoky flavored cheese that added such a unique flavor to the pie! We added pepperoni, sausage, and lots of veggies and all in all this pizza was simply DELICIOUS! I'd recommend Piccaso's over and over because it was truly an amazing dining experience. Amazing! Extremely flavorful place to eat. Although the the strip mall decor isn't that welcoming, the servers certainly make up for it. We had a few appetizers. Surprising, the Lobster Fritters (3) weren't my favorite. Maybe it's that I couldn't really taste the lobster? The beignet batter was sweet and yummy though. We had the Crispy Risotto Bites (3 big balls) next. I would definitely get those again. I'm not sure if the filling or the sauce was better! We also tried the Italian Stew Pot. This is a spicy little number. The meatballs were extremely tender. Yum! For meals, we had the Shrimp n Grits and the Spicy Pasta Arrabiata. The Grits were so flavorful and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The pasta was homemade and we cleaned the plate. Pray that the Chocolate Bread Pudding is dessert of the day. I was intrigued enough that I will return and hope to be able to give more stars. We ordered the eggplant chips which were nice. My husband is not a fan of eggplant and he commented on how much he liked them; crisp and flavorful without being overly greasy. The cheese pizza pleased the kids. it was reasonably priced. So far so good. We ordered a NY style with an exotic mushroom melange and a fontina cheese. The cheese was the same as what was on the standard pizza for the kids and the "melange" (which should mean a mess, implying variety) consisted of some quartered button mushrooms, very sparse at that. One slice had only one lonely little quarter of a mushroom. There was an option on the menu for mere mushrooms as a pizza topping, but we paid extra for this hoping it would be special. The specials looked interesting and the variety of pizza toppings and doughs intriguing. I hope our disappointment was a mistake and not a switcheroo. We will try again and see. read more

Went by another Saturday night and it was packed inside and out. So decided to go try another nice restaurant just down the road. They said it would be an hour wait. We just relocated to Jacksonville from the Chicagoland area. We Have been looking for good pizza and pasta and haven't had a lot of luck until now. The St. Louis style crust is the closest we've found to thin crust pizza in Chicago (yes, we eat thin crust in Chicago!). The sauce is amazing and their pasta is as well. Was delicious and could tell the meatball and sausage had cooked in the marinara for a while. Not just dumped in there fresh and new. Only complaint was there was only three slices of grilled bread. Why not four so there's an even amount for sharing? The Greek salad was a nice blend of feta and lettuce/Romano, red onion (sliced thin), green and black olives, tomatoes and pimento. Comes with a lemon vinaigrette. My husband wanted to try the gumbo, and it was an epic fail. Apparently the cook burned it, because that's what we tasted. Burned rue. Anyways the Kitchen Sink pizza is delicious and a large pepperoni New York style is gargantuas, but equally delicious. Would have given five stars but for the gumbo. read more

Visited this location recently and it was pretty good. I can't say that a more local place closer to UNF wouldn't have been the same or better but it was a good place to visit. I ordered the chicken parmesan and I received a very nice portion of pasta and chicken. I'm giving them 4 stars because of the time it took to receive our food. So a few weeks ago I mentioned that coincidentally there were two restaurants with similar names that produced extraordinary food and service, Picazzo's in Scottsdale and Picasso's in Jacksonville, Florida. Today, I am going to write about the Jacksonville restaurant that has a very special place in my heart as it's a restaurant where I have had many amazing culinary experiences. It's literally the place where food is cooked and served with artistry and nothing short of perfection each and every visit. When I'm in Jacksonville doing business, there's one place that's a "must visit," and a "must eat at as many times possible," as I can in one visit restaurant. I know this sounds wordy but you get the point. If you're a tourist or visitor in the area, you need to trek to this restaurant because it's worth the journey. This INCREDIBLE and AMAZING restaurant, notice how many times I will probably say the word AMAZING, is located in a quiet strip mall and every time I come and visit, there's always a line in front of it or inside the restaurant. I always imagine there's some famous golfer or other kind of famous sports celebrity eating in there because it's always crowded. That right there is a sign of not only a successful restaurant but one with a cult following. No matter when I come and visit there's always a nice line of very patient and social people, dedicated regulars and traveling foodies waiting to get in. Again, it's that AMAZING. Luck must always be on my side because every time I've come here after a long day of meetings, I've never had to wait long and I get seated within about 10 minutes of arriving. Thank you food gods. From when you walk in until you finish your meal, you are surrounded by beauty in the decor and how the food is presented and cooked. The place is beautifully decorated with large paintings of my favorite painter, Picasso. If it's available sitting in a table in the center of the restaurant allows you to see all the art work from every direction. It's a visually arresting touch and makes for a pleasant place to have lunch or dinner. Now let's talk about why I make a point to eat here on every visit...the AMAZING food... Let's put it this way, when I die and go to heaven, I hope that the chef/owner of Picasso's is in charge of all of our dining. Really it doesn't matter what they serve, everything from the menu to the specials are beyond delicious. No matter what I've ordered here all I wanted to do was to even order more of the same thing. This place absolutely brings out the foodie glutton in me. I know you'll think it's crazy but I've sampled everything. That's how AMAZING this place is. Just like my favorite song in the Sound of Music, (Cue the music) here are few of my very favorite things: Fried Mac and cheese, Cheesy Bread, Garlic-Parmesan Bread Twists, New Orleans BBQ Shrimp, Lobster Fritters, Fried Mozzarella, Da House Salad, Caprese Salad, Shrimp Grits, Rosemary Encrusted Snapper in a Beurre Blanc sauce (OMG) And of course why I make it a point to stop here every time I'm in town... The New York and Saint Louis Pizza...(OMG OMG OMG) Not only do we order these two particular pizzas when we come in but some of us (ahem...) take a pizza to go to bring home to our room. Yes it's that good. One pizza is not enough. I have never eaten a pizza so perfectly cooked and with the best crust you could ever imagine. It literally makes my mouth water when I think of it. Now if that wasn't enough to make you drool for the more adventurous foodies check out the board on the wall with all of the daily specials based on what the chef finds when he shops every day at the fish, meat, and local farms for fresh vegetables. That's pretty special so I make sure I check that out first before diving into the regular menu. As far as the overall customer service and dining experience, the place is always bustling, the staff hustling, the place always spotless, food always served with love, care and piping hot. Service here is terrific and the staff whether they're greeting you or serving you gives you a world class dining experience. This place is not only a gem but a DIAMOND in my book. If only there were Picasso restaurants everywhere in the world....(hint hint Picasso's) I wouldn't have to make up meetings to go to in Jacksonville. read more

There was a little bit of a wait but they were swamped with take-out orders. We did have a mix up with one of our entrees but they fixed the mistake immediately and even comped us dessert. What has happened to Picasso's? we went there last night for our monthly girls's night out, and they completely had my reservation wrong, and I had even made sure they had it a couple weeks ago, for Nancy, party of 10, at 5:30. They had it under a different name for 7. Oh well, do not know how that happened, since I checked in person at lunch one day. Anyhoo, went to order a glass of moscato, since he said they had it, and no moscato. no sweet wine at all he told me. Then my friend wanted some appetizer, and he said they know longer carry it, even though it is still on the menu. Our waiter said there are a few things still on the menu that they don't carry anymore. Desserts, too. They have desserts, just not the ones listed. Really? We all ordered our food, and the stew pots were different, and less of them. The ones that got salmon, got a very small piece of salmon on their salad, and their entree, like a half a piece. I would have been embarrassed to serve that small a piece. Oh, and our drinks were all served in small glasses. That has never happened before. This was not the Picasso's we have had in the past. Are they under new management? We will probably cross this one off our girls night rotation, in the future. We did order a couple desserts to go, for a friend. Hope they were good for her! read more

I just love this restaurant! Why? The food is delicious and fresh. My husband and I live in Atlantic Beach and drive the miles through traffic because we haven't found Italian food anywhere as good as this. Yes, there's usually a line or long wait but that's because the food is YUM. I'd wait hours for a slice of their pizza with a choice of any crust you choose. I was in the mood for a really good non franchise Pizza and also wanted to go for a drive, found this place. Ahhhmazing! They have the best fried Mac n cheese and their pizza is to die for! My friend and I ordered a pepperoni pizza but I added pineapple to my side. We decided last minute to change the type of pizza from the St Louis Pizza to a New York style and our waitress made it happen! We will definitely be coming here more often! read more
