This doesn't even deserve a star and here is why. We made a reservation weeks in advance and arrived 10 minutes late due to local town traffic. As a punishment, we were told that we could no longer eat in the dining room but could eat at the bar. Really? There were empty tables in the dining room, but we were not 'allowed' to sit there. For a meal of this $, I'm not sitting at a bar. The two 'teenagers' at the front of the restaurant are rude and miserable. Go home and finish your homework, it's past your bedtime. read more

First off i must say that their food is very good. I had ordered a pasta dish and asked for 4 pieces of shrimp on it. About an hour later i get the food and on the bill it says they charged me $32 for 4 pieces of shrimp. That is $8 a shrimp. These were by no means anything other than ordinary pieces of shrimp. They tasted fine and were rather small in size. But $32 for 4 pieces of shrimp being $8 each. GET OUTTA TOWN! read more

Like Franco said, this place is super-cozy and romantic. It's been a destination for my family for 8 Christmas Eve's and counting. They have a few different seating times in which to come here, and the food is (mostly) superb. We had a little hiccup in service last year, as we were seated in the booth next to the bar and the door. It was freezing cold there, and the food wasn't nearly as good as it normally was. I can't really recall what we had ordered, to be honest. This year more than made up for last year. The chef changed up some of the items on the menu, but kept some of the old favorites, like the calamari with basil aioli and red sauce fra diavolo. A new addition to their line up is the goat cheese stuffed figs, which come with 1/4 canteloupe and proscuitto di parma. The figs were beautifully ripe, and were slightly warm and the goat cheese was mild and creamy. Whatever they are doing now is working; the restaurant is evolving with the times and is keeping what has made them so popular in the first place. read more

Definitely not one of my faves. It's more like... 2.0-2.5 stars. So I'll give it a 2.3. I went there last week with three other people. We were very excited to try this restaurant because of the reviews and luckily we also had a gift certificate. And based on the prices on the menu I'm glad we had a gift certificate there and that I didn't spend actual cash on the food. We had 2-3 different servers. One who asked us for our drink order. I thought it was rude that we asked for a wine menu and a woman in short blonde hair automatically assumed we didn't need the glasses, took them away only for another waiter to bring us back the glasses. We had a waiter give us our menus, literally gave us maybe 3 minutes to look it over before coming back and asking us if we were ready. Luckily we were smart enough to look at the menu before coming in. We asked for recommendations. The waiter recommended us fried calamari in Thai chili sauce and seared ahi tuna with wasabi and soy sauce served with white rice. UH... Isn't this an Italian restaurant? Or are you recommending this because we were a table of freaking Asian people? -.- We didn't want to be rude so we went along with his recommendations. We gave him our orders and attempted to start our night. But a few minutes later...another waiter comes over and starts handing us the menus again. Hey, try talking to each other. You DO work together. It just makes the place seem so unorganized. We ordered... Hot antipasti and the calamari to start. I definitely had much better so I was disappointed. Entrees... Veal dish..forgot what it was called but it was good The seared tuna the waiter recommended. Wish we didn't order it Pan seared scallops with wild mushroom risotto. How do you mess up risotto? It was undercooked. And pork tenderloin. What a freaking waste. Why do they deserve the 3 stars? It definitely isn't because of the food. 2.3 stars for: the young blonde hostess. She was very friendly and sweet. As we left an old skeevy muscle head was hitting on her and you could just tell she was being polite. She looked 20. So it just made that place seem ehh... The decor. Came on a Saturday night with friends and it was crazy packed, uncomfortably crowded to the point where I was concerned of a fire hazard while standing over a couple trying to enjoy their dinner. I understand there was a Bridal Shower (a little odd in my opinion), but they were very late to out 9:00PM reservation. When you're dining and at a restaurant of this supposed caliber, you have expectations and standards before you even arrive, this slightly disappointed me. Overall, the service was great and friendly. The food was good however I don't think I'd go out of my way to go there. I love romantic and dim restaurants- specially on a 1st date, but I felt the seating was very tight and the lights too dim. I had the shrimps and expected the dish to be busting with flavor. My second favorite Italian restaurant on Long Island. It is small and intimate. They have a piano player there ever night except Friday- Sunday. I like when he is there. My favorite things has always been the stuffed veal chop. the last time i went it just wasn't up to the excellent standard it has always achieved so i will give them on pass on that. The whole menu is really great. I had the calamari with a mango sauce and it was the best I had ever had!!! Awesome!! You wont be disappointed if you go. It has an incredible wine list as well. The service is great, but you will definitely wait for your table on a Friday or a Saturday even if you have a reservation (which you will definitely need). read more

Very small Italian restaurant in Huntington. Tables were small and really close together, not much space between our table and the next. Started with the crab cake and burrata cheese, both were very good and nice portion size. Had the shrimps for dinner it was fair, definitely needed more seasoning. Husband had the veal parmigiana. I thought the service was excellent and very personal - one caveat - we were with friends that are somewhat regular so we may have gotten better than normal treatment. Friday night - PACKED! The bar area is small - but the drinks are excellent. We had an 8:30 reservation and were seated promptly despite the crowd. The menu is quite good - but the specials were really interesting. I had swordfish that was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. My wife had flank steak which was very good. The restaurant is a little loud for my taste - so it is not a place for an intimate dinner - but it is perfect for a fun night out with friends. I will go there again many times. read more

Everything was perfect, up until the dinner came. It's not that it was bad, it was just really small from what the price was. 3 thinly sliced pieces of chicken neatly placed on a mountain of mashed potatoes. The price I paid, I could have gotten a whole bag of frozen chicken, and i only get three small slices?? Thank god their pasta dishes were huge, and the pianist playing Norwegian wood made this experience wonderful. I got the gnocchi with pesto, and it was one of the best gnocchi dishes I ever had. This is a gem, a find, an authentic place full of delicious dishes and old fashion service that is sure to make you smile. Called for a reservation on a Saturday night, they were booked but had one table available if we could make it in 20 minutes, worked for us! When we arrived they put us in the front booth which I wasn't impressed with until the curtains were closed and it was like our own private cozy, romantic booth, Service was excellent, 2 gents took care of us and food came out relatively quick. Food was outstanding, we got the buffalo mozzarella (melted in your mouth!) and tai calamari appetizers to start. I got veal marsala (was a little overcooked for my liking but was very good!) and my boyfriend got penne with marinara sauce and ricotta cheese. We didn't have room for desert but the menu made my mouth water. By the time we got the check, the place was packed and it was almost like the guests entering the restaurant were eating with us (even had one rude guyn pull the curtain back and made a joke saying "oh that looks good can I have some?" ew). The only reason i gave any stars was because the wait staff happen to be the best part of this whole experience, so the following has no bearing on them. We booked a double communion party at Piccolo's of Huntington. Went in months prior to book the main room and left a deposit for that room and day. Fast forward to the day of our event (40 guests), only to see that they arranged our party in the bar corner of the restaurant. It was entirely to tight to accommodate our group,,, let alone the staff who was unable to work through the limited isle from the kitchen off our the guest table. The "manager" jason, was extremely rude and not helpful at all. We asked to speak to the owner and jason made ten excuses as to why the owner could not speak with us. It was embarrassing to host our event and we will never patronize this establishment again. I plan on calling daily to reach the owner and i will disputing any charges through my credit card establishment. Do yourself a favor and do not book an event here..... so many other beautiful restaurants in huntington with professional staff that will go above and beyond for you!!!!!! read more

One of the best restaurants on Long Island -- it's impossible to have a bad meal. Even the pickiest of foodies are impressed time and time again. The food is consistently excellent and the waiters are a core part of the ambiance. Old school Italian gentlemen transport you back to Italy. The portions are very generous and the drinks are excellent. Try to sit in the window seat near the bar if you have an opportunity. The toughest thing is that there are too many excellent dishes to order. The stuffed pork chop is insane but we force ourselves to try new things because every time we do we have new favorites. This was our first time at Piccolo and we'll definitely be coming back. My boyfriend got the 14oz prime sirloin steak and I got the penne alla vodka. We also got the fried calamari for an appetizer, which wasn't my favorite. However, we were pleased with both meals. The dining area is small and the tables are close together, but it didn't bother us. Not a quiet atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. We had dinner on Friday night at Piccolo. The meal was delicious and the service was great, as usual. We were warmly greeted by Jason, the manager, who made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Jason seated us just a few minutes after we checked in, and our waiter, Marvin, took over at that point and responded helpfully to all of our questions concerning the daily specials and provided his personal recommendations, which were spot on. The food was excellent, and we look forward to returning soon. My wife and I have particular concerns regarding COVID compliance and were very impressed by how Piccolo continues to maintain a safe and compliant setting. Through the pandemic, we have had to stop going to some of our old favorites (since they do not appear to be setting up safely with appropriate distancing), but Piccolo is exceptional in every way -- food, service, ambiance with safety, and overall courtesy toward its customers. I don't get it. We had a horrible experience here celebrating my friend's birthday at what had once been a favorite restaurant. We reserved in advance, prepaid the bill with a healthy tip percentage, and asked for a table to the side. We were plopped in a middle table, and ignored for 10 minutes. When we placed drink orders, I asked for a wine list. Several minutes later, I flagged down another waiter and he brought a list. When the cocktails finally arrived, we had to request menus. Then it got worse. The food was blah, the service was silly, the noise was obnoxious, the wrong meals were served to each of us and arrived before we finished the appetizers. I ate dinner at Piccolo last night with my family and it was my first time dining out since the start of the pandemic. Our waiter, Marvín, made the entire experience especially enjoyable. His candid recommendations steered us right for every course. He checked in to see how we were doing several times and was extremely attentive. He made us feel like such special customers. This used to be one of our favorites. Sadly, it's no longer a 'go to' spot. We gave it several tries but were disappointed every time. On our most recent visit service was spotty. An adjacent table was seated 20 minutes after us but got drinks and food long before us. We ordered off the 'specials' menu, thinking the food would be fresher. A chopped salad included mealy tomatoes, ripped lettuces and not much else. This tasteless, mostly inedible plate was followed by a roast chicken dish that had been over cooked and had obviously been sitting for awhile since the 'gravy' was congealed on the plate. We requested a particular table and when we got there the host said the table was occupied- we entered the dining room to find that the ONLY table occupied was the one we had asked for! 2. We were told we could not order half orders of the pastas as appetizers as the chef would not be happy (even though we had done so on previous visits). We had to order a full order of the same pasta to split as our appetizers! 3. We ordered the bouillabaisse special at $38 - the mussels were raw - it was totally inedible Add to that a waiter who in spite of saying there was no rush came to our table 3 or 4 times in 5 minutes for our order. This is one of the places to come during off hours because if you are here on Saturday dinner hours don't plan on enjoying any conversation with your tablemates without a lot of leaning over, repeating words and hearing the bozo at the next table trying to outshout everyone. We've been coming here for years and in my opinion the food leaves a lot to be desired - as does the service. I ordered the special "Porkchop porterhouse with balsamic glaze. blue cheese and hot cherry peppers" for $35. What i got was a pork chop drowning in a gelatinous brown gravy with onions. I told the waiter it's not what i ordered and he tries telling me "the blue cheese is mixed in" then points to one sliver of pepper that probably came from someone else's dish. They bring it back to the kitchen, come back 10 min later with the same pork chop (it was still sitting on the brown gravy) cheese and cherry peppers on top - except now it is so OVERCOOKED, I can't cut it with a steak knife. they had the nerve to still charge me for this crap - we took it home for the dog. The basil gnocchi with pignoli nuts came with no nuts. The place was empty with at least 4 waiters standing around and not one would come over to take our card to pay for this terrible meal. We will not come here again, $170 wasted. Extremely disappointing. read more

To celebrate our Anniversary, we went to our favorite restaurant. Piccolo is a Manhattan quality restaurant located in Huntington. They treat you like family. We were seated immediately by the manager. It has a quiet distinguished atmosphere. Two waiters served us. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. I like that they don't rush you and don't ignore you either. Too often I find the wait staff hound you to place your order, bother you while eating than disappear. Here they could not be more accommodating and courteous. We both had the Red Snapper special over Risotto. My wife had finished the Risotto but not the fish. When the waiter packed it up to go, he gave her more Risotto. The manager greeted us an arrival and thanked us for coming. This was truly a great Anniversary meal. Furthermore, this was our favorite restaurant to take my aged mother. It is ground level without any steps, Very comfortable and the wait staff always catered to her. DO NOT ORDER FROM PICCOLO'S FOR PICK-UP OR DELIVERY. This is the third time we have ordered for take-out at Piccolo's. The food is good but the service is horrendous. The first time, I was on hold for 20 minutes to place my order, and I gave up. The second time, it was a 2 hour wait after I ordered by phone for the food to be ready to be picked up. The third time, we ordered online through their own website 4 hours ahead of time for it to be delivered. When the food was 20 minutes late, I called and was told "it's on it's way". I asked the woman to actually double check that my order was out with the driver. She supposedly checked and told me "yes, it should be there shortly". (We live 5 minutes away.) I called again when the food still hadn't arrived at 45 minutes, and then again at an hour after it was suppose to have been there. The last time I called, I was told the driver "just left" 5 minutes ago - evidently they hadn't told me the truth the first two times I called. The food ended up being delivered 70 minutes late but the worst part of the experience was the rudeness of the manager on the phone. He actually raised his voice at one point and said I shouldn't use their delivery option because "it's too hard for them to get the food out on time". He also pointed out that there is a disclaimer that food delivery may be one hour or more late when they are busy. When I told him I hadn't seen that disclaimer, otherwise I would have opted to pick the food up myself, he said it was on the confirmation email - well, what good is that after you're already ordered? Had he simply apologized and spoken politely, he could have retained me as a customer. Now, I, and the other guests at my house will never order from Piccolo's again. read more
