This was my first time visiting this second location on Amar Road in West Covina. We usually go to the original spot on Nogales Street and La Puente Avenue, but this one opens earlier at 10:00 a.m. (the Nogales location opens at 11:00 a.m.), so I decided to give it a try. This location is larger, cleaner, and has a more modern interior. The menu is slightly different, though. They offer Maki rolls and Onigiri here, but they do not carry the salmon bowl here. However, they do have gourmet bento boxes, such as the beef sukiyaki bento for $13.95 and the BBQ chicken bento for $12.95. They also serve a grilled Atlantic salmon plate and pork chashu kua pao (soft steamed bao buns), which I plan to try next time. For this visit, my older daughter and I ordered the "Kinda Deep" (3-protein) poke bowl and the salmon toro Maki rolls. The Maki rolls were okay, the salmon belly fat tasted great, but the rice could have been better. Fortunately, the poke bowl tasted just as good as the one at the original location. The ingredients were fresh, the bowls are customizable, and the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back to try their other items!

Pick A Poke - Amar Road is one of our regular spots, and we keep coming back for a reason. We almost always order Ocean's Deep, and the portions here are incredibly generous. We've honestly never had poke served this generously elsewhere. The fish is always fresh, and everything--from the toppings to the rice--is consistently high quality. The value you get here is excellent. You walk away with great food that's filling, fresh, and well worth the price, which is becoming harder and harder to find. Customer service is another strong point. There's one staff member who's almost always there (we unfortunately can't recall her name), and she's consistently friendly, efficient, and welcoming. She really helps make the experience pleasant every time we visit. There was one occasion where the sauce was accidentally left off our order, but aside from that single incident, we truly have nothing but praise. Mistakes happen, and their overall consistency far outweighs that one-off moment. As for the space, the ambiance is minimalist--but you're really here for the food. We almost always do takeout anyway. That said, the shop is very clean, which we genuinely appreciate. If you're looking for fresh poke, generous portions, excellent value, and reliable service, this location delivers every time.

I'm not kidding, I might be the happiest person about this new location. I've been going to the first location since right after covid and I saw this sign when stopping for Jollibee once and sent multiple messages to my friends hoping they were opening a second location in that plaza. I don't think there's an ideal poke spot in WC, Pick A Poke was / is the best in the area! Location is ideal in a plaza that's not so busy that there's no parking, but is still in a busy intersection that it's pretty convenient to stop by when you're out (located in the plaza behind Target, where Seafood City, Red Ribbon, & Jollibee are) Immediately we were greeted by a friendly server who I think was also the owner who is incredibly sweet and kind! Ordering is easy (pencil and paper order), and food is quality and fresh! Their bowls are large and I think you really get value out of them. Comes with a complimentary miso soup which is great. Space is clean and tidy. Please consider coming here and supporting this small business on their second location!

I really like eating at Pick A Poke at the other place across from Nogales HS but this location is super convenient and close by, which makes it an easy go-to when I'm craving something quick and fresh. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the portion sizes you get, and the quality of the poke is consistently good. Everything tastes fresh, and there are plenty of options to customize your bowl just the way you like it.

Mica is the best. She quickly attended us and gave us such a delicious bowl. Great portions and even better food.

I discovered this poke spot about 4 months ago, and since then, I've been going religiously at least once or twice a month and the food is always amazing! I've tried poke all around LA, OC, and even the IE, and nothing compares to this place. The service is top-notch, the food is high quality, and the portions are honestly the best. I usually get the poke bowl at the Amar location, and the salmon and rice bowl at the Nogales location and they never disappoint! If you're looking for consistently delicious poke with great portions and service, this is the spot.

Tried out their new location next to seafood city. The menu is a little different from the original location since this one only has a "half-kitchen." Of course they have their famous poke and some of their other food. One thing i noticed they have here that i haven't seen they have at the OG spot is the chashu kua pao. We seen it had the "open" sign one random afternoon so we decided to stop by and say hi and support because we been a regular customers of the original location. Food is great as per usual. i got the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls. Something different from the OG location. The rolls were great. I've gotta come back and try the rice balls!

    Kinda deep bowl - Amar

Today, October 3rd, 2025, I went to Pick A Poke on Amar Road because I noticed they had opened up a second location. I've always been a HUGE fan of Pick A Poke at their first location on Nogales Street, so I figured I should try this location. Upon entering, I noticed the store was pretty similar to their first location and quiet, however, I wasn't greeted by the staff when I entered. I'm not really looking if they greet anyone, but I saw that there was another costumer there already, so i understood why they didn't greet me. I then proceeded to do the usual--write and circle my order on the order form they had on the side. I got one kinda deep and one oceans deep bowl. I came in having high expectations because I truly LOVE their first location and assumed they would be the same, but I was wrong.. It took 10 minutes for me to get my order... I was pretty disappointed as I was the only one in the store and they did not have any other customers. While the server was preparing my 2 bowls, I noticed that he had ran out of the spicy salmon, so he went to the back and asked someone to make more. He said, "Can you make 2 scoops of the spicy salmon, actually 3 scoops because there's one online order that just came through." I didn't understand why they would only make a specified number of scoops. Why don't they prepare a bigger batch because it seems like it's popular.. (Side note: I also heard the person in the back ask the server if garlic was in the spicy salmon.. How do they not know how to prepare it..) The server proceeded to come back to the front and continued to prepare my 2 bowls and the online order which was one bowl. I also noticed he was rationing everything.. I saw he put cucumbers in one of the bowls but I guess he thought it was too much so he took some of it out and put it back.. is that not some type of cross contamination? Eventually my order was done and packed into the bag nicely. However when I arrived home and opened my order, I noticed something was off.. There was NO SAUCE in both of the bowls I ordered ?!?!! This is unbelievable as I had already waited 10 minutes for my food... and my order was not right. At this point it wasn't worth going back to tell them .. but I had to make my own sauce at home... As someone who consistently goes to the first location and loves it, this second location needs to train their servers better. Even the portion size is different--you can see in the photos I attached. I would NOT RECOMMEND going to this location until their servers/staff have better training!

just had the poke bowl with triple tuna, salmon, and albacore with all the toppings--and wow, it was incredible! Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful, and the portions were perfect. The fish was high quality, the toppings were plentiful, and every bite was a burst of flavor. The staff was super friendly and the service was quick, making the whole experience even better. Ambiance was clean and welcoming--definitely a spot I'll be coming back to often. Highly recommend this place if you love poke bowls. Easily one of the best poke experiences I've had!

The establishment is clean, and properly stocked with condiments and napkins for your dining needs. The fries were good and well salted. The onion rings have a really heavy batter and can be kinda greasy but back a good crunch and soft bite of the onion inside. Overall, if I was on a time crunch and wanted a consistent and well-made burger I would visit here. However, the cashier/man at the counter (who I'm assuming is the owner) that takes your order upon arrival is very dismissive. He doesn't make eye contact with you while you're ordering and does not actively listen to your order at all. He messed up my order. When I requested onion rings, he gave me fries. Instead of honoring my original request and apologizing for the mistake, he mumbled, "I didn't hear that" and had my boyfriend pay the difference of 2 dollars for the onion rings. Hospitality and kindness can go a long way in situations like this and he has missed the mark. I am more than happy to support small community based businesses when they hold themselves to a good standard and appreciate the patronage they receive, especially when we were nothing but cordial. I hope this review changes things around.

I've been coming here for well over 15 years and it's always been that place you think of when you just want something solid that won't disappoint. The food itself is exactly why people love this place. Everything tastes best fresh, especially the fries and the teriyaki bowl. That's the kind of food you want to sit down and enjoy right away, not throw in a bag and rush out the door. Which brings me to the only reason this isn't a five star review. We showed up with about 30 minutes left before closing and were told we couldn't sit in the dining area, even though it was still open. That felt a little off and honestly kind of disrespectful, especially when the food is meant to be eaten fresh and hot. That said, the food was still really good, even to go, and I'm still recommending this place without hesitation. It's right there in the same shopping center as 85°C Bakery, super easy to find, and absolutely worth trying if you're in the area. Please try it. Seriously. This place has earned its reputation over the years and it's a true classic for a reason.
