Wow- this place has really gone to the dogs in the last decade. The food used to be fresh and full of vibrant vegetables. I hadn't been here in a few years (now I remember why). My meh experience started with the hit taking my order. He didn't look me in the eye and it took me 3 questions to get him to actually speak a response instead of shaking his head. I plunked down $17 for lunch. I am grateful they gave a 10% military discount. I got a wonton soup that was runny and smelled fishy with 3 overdone wontons, 2 shrimp and some rubbery chicken (full order). For the main dish I asked what is their #1 selling chicken dish. He said the house chicken. Let me tell you, Panda Express is better. The chicken was fried in a sickening sweet sauce and literally the only vegetables were a few pieces of scallions. It looked like a gooey mess. White rice was served on the side. Only warm and stuck together in clumps. They only had one cook at peak lunch hour but there were not a lot of tables, so that makes sense now. We've been going to Stone Fire grill lately and the food is amazing and fresh. This used to be Mimis, near In and Out. The employees are all well mannered high school and college all-American kids (similar to In and Out). We feel so respected when we are there and will continue to. Sorry, went off on a tangent but I am kicking myself for trying PIck Up Stix again instead of going to Stone Fire for the 3rd time in a week. Anyway, save you money for Peking Dragon or The Little China Kitchen. You'll pay almost the same price but get fresh delicious food. read more

I saw a lady eating salad from the window and it looked good so I decided to try the salad. I ordered Miso Chicken salad and it was delicious! The lettuce was crisp and the dressing on the side was perfect. The girl behind the counter was pleasant and friendly. It was the perfect spot to stay cool and eat a light meal. Very rare for me to absolutely not like a place. The rudeness started as soon as I walked in the door. The people in front of me were not ready and they still weren't 3 min later when you decided to be done organizing and see if you could take an order. Wish I could give this location zero stars! Twice have placed a phone order only to arrive and they do not have my order. Asked to give us the food for free because this has happened multiple times and the owner was very rude and refused. When my husband went up tp pay at counter in his white dress shirt (60$+) he put his sleeve on the counter which was filthy, he accidentally put his arm in a pile of red sauce. I asked if they would at least pay to have it dry cleaned and again he rudely refused and acted like we had done something wrong. Went in for a buy one get one deal-should have known by the giveaway! No good! Ordered Thai Curry chicken snd it was rubbery with what looked like chicken pretend. The Orange chicken was weird. They deep fry with batter and this is where it gets weird...instead of normal vegetables in the dish its huge pieces of orange and HUGE watercress discs like mini hockey pucks. Blech! July 2016, the contractors working in our home wanted Stix when we offered to buy lunch for the crew. We arrived around 12:30 and saw two professional looking gentleman greet us from behind the counter. There was one person in front of us and we were discussing what we'd order. A woman who was sitting in the back of the restaurant doing some paperwork got up and came to the other register. Nice! After we placed our order we thanked both of them and stated it's been a couple of years since we'd been in. We told the story from our previous visits in 2014 and the woman thanked us. I was a little surprised because the woman introduced herself as the Dist Mgr and the other gentleman was one of the General Mgr's. I let her know we had refused gift certificates in the past because no one ever made changes to fix or replace the staff in that location until they hired someone from Panda Express next door. We were informed she was promoted to the San Clemente store and they were getting ready to find a replacement for this store. I was really impressed to see a DM and GM running the store until a capable store manager was located. So ... The service shortcomings have been cured, our take out meal for seven was spot on and things are looking good at Stix in Dana Point. Pick Up Stix is the sibling of Stix Pacific Grill that was located at 28251 Crown Valley Pkwy Laguna Niguel. It was a sit down full service restaurant with a full bar, seating in booths with tablecloths and staffed with young, professional, upbeat servers. They closed in 2008 and we really miss the savory experience. If you're listening, we'd love to see Stix Pacific Grill come back to Laguna Niguel. read more

Been ordering food from here for years now but after a 6 month break I ordered 3 entrees and some fried rice. I'm not complaining about the food or it's quality, I honestly am saying if the $9 containers get any smaller, you will literally be able to fit the portions into what is now their sweet n sour sauce containers. I hate giving bad reviews. Anyone can have a bad day and reviews can make or break a business's reputation. However, I have bitten my tongue too many times on poor service from this location. 3 out of last 5 times they gave me something I did not order. As take out, it either meant eating what I didn't want or going back, wasting my time after a hard day at work. Yesterday I ordered orange peel shrimp, making sure they they knew I meant SHRIMP and NOT CHICKEN. Certain items don't have gluten.... if you get the chicken only. I got the tofu on one of the gluten free items which seemed to have a breaded coating. After I downloaded the online nutrition guide I discovered that the tofu does have gluten which is profoundly upsetting. You would think after all these reviews they would improve their restaurant. The food was not great, but I am vegetarian and ordered the noodles without chicken, I specifically put NO CHICKEN in my online order. When I picked it up, the cook had just put it in the bag and he approached me and said: "here are the noodles" and I said: "no chicken, right?" and he looked straight at me and said "that's right, no chicken". The management at this location SUCKS however. I believe the managers' name is Annette? She is extremely rude, classless and lacks manners when it comes to customer service. I recommend visiting Pick Up Stix in Laguna Niguel off Alicia and Crown Valley, or any other location for that matter! Regarding catering a party: Everything turned out perfect, we went with Pick Up Stix because the price for the party couldn't be beat. We had a budget to deal with and no other restaurant in the area could accommodate us. But in addition to the pricing, the service was great, phone calls and questions were always answered right away, easy to contact the catering people, they made the changes I requested, provided all the extras I needed and kept up with my changes in the pick up time for the food. Everything was nicely packed, hot and ready on time. The food was good, same quality as it usually is. But the overall quality of the catering experience was exceptional! read more
