For me, Pickleman's is way above food from Subway, Quizno's, and Jimmy John's, and just a notch beneath Panera Bread, in terms of quality and taste. My co-workers and I have ordered from Pickleman's four times in one week as of this review. No one in my group has had anything but good reviews about the food. I always order online and pick it up. Their online ordering system is very efficient, and the food is always ready in 20 minutes or less (except pizzas). Their front counter staff are very friendly, too. Granted, we work evenings, so the place has always been relatively dead when I walk in to pick up food, so YMMV. Although my co-workers and I have eaten most of their menu offerings, my favorites are the cafe' chopped salad, asiago caesar salad, broccoli cheese soup, and tomato basil soup. Even better is that they make their ranch dressing fresh in-store. As a ranch dressing junkie, that alone is worth a high rating! I suppose, if there's any negatives about Pickleman's, it's their downtown location, in terms of parking, especially with construction in the immediate vicinity. Many stalls in front of Pickleman's are closed off, as of this review. There are also several restaurants, two bars, and Starbucks in close proximity, so the area can be busy, especially on weekend nights. So, if you order online, have someone drop you off and drive around the block until you come back out. That works for us! Regarding their delivery, our office is less than two miles from Pickleman's. Normally, it is relatively fast, but on a recent lunch order (Feb 2014), the order took over one hour to receive, and one person's meal was forgotten. Once the driver returned with the forgotten item, the entire order took about two hours to complete in full, ruining one person's lunch for that day. Hopefully that was a one-time hiccup. read more

Similar to Quizono's and my hometown favorite Potbelly's. The concept is not new and there is a better one in Shreveport with a similar menu, but a much larger variety of soups. I had the giardinera chicken pizza; which was a huge portion and was pretty good. It took a while to make the pizza, but worth the wait. My negative is that the place SMELLS like burnt toast. They have the oven going, door open; yet the place still smells awful. I walked our reeking of smoke, almost as bad as walking out of the local smoke filled casinos. Picklemans is a solid lunch stop. They have a menu that is about what you'd expect at a toasted sub shop. Love the Chipotle Chicken sub - really liked it and would order it next time - very flavorful. The light toasting adds a lot to the sandwich. The toasted sub world is pretty crowded and some have set a high bar. If you are craving a toasted sub and Picklemans is close, it's a nice stop. read more

I just received an order for the downtown Pickleman's and I ordered a sandwich a half salad and 2 chocolate chip cookies. The sandwich was good as was the salad, but when I got to the cookies, no kidding, there was a bite taken out of it. Not just looks like a bite, but clearly obvious someone took a bite out of the cookie and put it back in the paper sleeve. This is really unacceptable, especially with the COVID-19 spikes. not only was that bad enough, when I called the store to tell them what had happened they just brushed it off like it's not that big of a deal. They did offer to send me more cookies, but that clearly wasn't the point. They should have voiced a seriousness that anyone should in these times when you trust someone else to handle your food. I have ordered from Pickleman's many, many times over the last couple years and always use their delivery when I'm at work. I love Picklemans! They deliver to your door, they have the best salads, and an awesome thin crust pizza. My husband and I often order delivery because it's really fast and still hot by the time it gets to your door. They only deliver locally...meaning close to their shop which is a bummer for me when I'm at work! But lucky for me when I'm at home! Honestly the Italian chop and a thin crust pizza with pepperoni and olives are my favorites. I have also had the meatball sandwich which is good but I feel like something might be missing. Oregano maybe? Even still I wish that I could order the Italian chop daily! Prices are high when you order delivery because there is a delivery fee and then the tip...still worth it. Walk in, large large line, and you are freaking hungry! This place is large, clean, and is fashioned 100% like a Quiznos. Here is the problem. The food-especially any sandwich with bacon-is sub par. Not enough toppings, not enough flavor, and not enough of a value. The bacon is REALLY bad. I mean to the point of me asking for a refund. This place knows how to f*** up a grilled cheese real good. I ordered the grilled cheese because I'd already eaten a meat sandwich earlier that day *and* because my downtown dining options near work were limited. I was disappointed to see that the employee was using sub sandwich bread instead of regular sliced bread (I mean, really, WHO makes a grilled cheese on sub sandwich bread?), and I thought, Ohhh, this is going to be bad - so maybe putting some sauce on it would make it a little better. So I asked for the spicy buffalo sauce on it. Another big mistake. I was only able to take three bites of the sandwich before i had to throw it away. The sauce was nuclear orange and thick and disgusting. Had I not put the sauce on it, the sandwich would have been edible. There is nothing gourmet about this place. That nasty sauce on my grilled cheese is undoubtedly from a jar. The chili that I ordered there previously was also sub-par, although not as bad as the buffalo sauce. You'd probably be safe ordering one of their meat sandwiches as an edible option, but you're still going to be paying too much for bad food. read more

Order from them often, lunch in my studio at the Hotshops Art Center. I usually order a full sandwich and full salad, this gives me leftovers for the next day, or for dinner. I have a small refrigerator that won't make ice, so I order a cup of water and ice for a quarter. The drivers are always really friendly, and very quick, and they get that I want the ice, not really the water. The delivery fee is reasonable, so no complaints there. I always use the app to order. I ordered the pizza sandwich, I forget what its exact name is, but pretty much its the one with pepperoni, cheese, and marinara sauce. I got the combo meal which comes with the sandwich, chips, and a drink. I was able to swap the chips for a warm cookie which was pretty nice I thought. The food was fantastic, it was a terrific tasting sandwich, one of the best tasting things I had ate in awhile. That was hands down the best part about my experience, and as it turns out, the one saving grace of this restaurant in my opinion. As other reviews have mentioned, there is pretty much no value in the food, it is not filling at all, and definitely not worth the almost $10 paid. To be frank, a Subway 6 inch fills you up more than this place does, and it costs half the price. We got there at 11:40 and I am so glad we did, when we left at 12, the line was out the door, and it wasn't even a Friday! If money isn't an important factor in your lunch decisions, then I would recommend going here, like I said, the food tasted fantastic. For value lunch goers though, stay clear. read more

Good sandwiches. The main problem with this Pickleman's in downtown Omaha is they are so busy during the lunch rush that it seems nearly impossible for them to keep track of which sandwich goes with which customer...and which customer to ask about how you want your sandwich topped, or whether it's to-go. They are scrambling behind the counter to manage call-in orders, internet orders, and customers standing in line. It's a crap shoot whether you'll end up with the sandwich you wanted, or go back to the beginning and start over. They've messed up several times to the point where I've stormed out. Also, be careful when the guy asks if you would like bacon on your sandwich, which I assume meant it was optional. He SHOULD have said, "Would you like to pay $1.86 extra for 2 tiny paper-thin scraps of bacon, only about 3 inches long, to be added?" Everything's better with bacon - - that's true! But if they'd clarified it cost that much more for that small a quantity, I'd have declined. And beggars sometimes come in the back door and shake customers down for money, threatening you if you don't cough up some cash. That back door ought to be a fire exit only. read more

So MUCH more than just a sandwich shop! The pizza's, salads and soups are sit down restaurant quality at a fraction of the price. Pickleman's sandwiches are also truly a cut above the rest. They offer plenty of options no matter your taste or food preferences, simply put Pickleman's has something you will LOVE. Fresh, real ingredients, plenty of topping options and full rich savory flavors. They also bake fresh cookies daily, made from scratch! I love my favorites so much, I haven't tried as many menu items as I should. My favorites: The Hog (copious amount of delicious meats, peppers and more) and the Asiago bacon chicken ( your mouth will melt!!! ) are both great places to start, but you can't go wrong, so explore. Picklemans thin crust pizza's really let the toppings shine, gooey delicious cheese with a thin crisped crust that is baked to perfection with mouth watering toppings. The broccoli cheddar soup aka "liquid gold" changed my lifelong held views on broccoli. Just saying. The Walnut Cran salad on spinach is incredible, I get their homemade chipotle ranch dressing. The #9 Italian beef with cheese and peppers, the #15 Buffalo chicken sandwich and #17 Chipotle chicken are game changers. Wandered by and in. Fresh ingredients and good soups. I went with the turkey club and avocado. It was good. I had the tomato bisque to help it along. The soup was delicious. If it is busy you might be rubbing elbows with other patrons as they stack in to get their order. Some are more aware of the presence of others and some, not so much but that isn't on the restaurant aside from sort of making it a one way in/out concept. The staff was friendly, although I was a little put off that although only one other patron was in line when I walked in everyone seemed as occupied as they would be during a lunch rush, even if they weren't handling food. Ok, I was pretty miffed that out of 5 employees someone could pause for a split second to acknowledge me even if they weren't planning on taking my order. It was a little awkward. I had no problems with my order in the slightest, surprisingly for how busy it was. I come in today (June 26th) and there was almost no line at all, I get there, put in my order, and some how they mess up. I wanted a 12 ounce Broccoli cheddar soup, and a #13 with a drink, right? I just stopped in to Pickleman's downtown as I work at 17th and Harney. They were super busy but I don't mind waiting in line as they move fast and the food is worth it. I frequent this establishment often and have never had a bad experience. Today, I ordered and didn't think the gentleman heard me but he moved to make something so I just moved along in line. When it was my turn for "toppings", the sandwich I had ordered wasn't there, which I had feared. The manager was there assembling sandwiches and without hesitation told me it was on them. What a nice gesture, I certainly didn't expect it, but having waited in line for 15 minutes I feel that what he did was super kind. They now have a customer for life. Watched three mistakes happen. Food is good, but servers are trying to go too fast. Too many people behind the counter grabbing with no knowledge what order the item is for. Person in front of me ordered two #1's but they only made one. Then my #17 was almost passed along as the second #1. The wrapped sandwiches didn't have a note to what it is. I have never eaten their food. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and a bag of chips for delivery. The delivery took about 5 minutes which was fast. The sandwich was delicious and crispy and had good flavors. Only downside is not only do they cut the sandwiches, they cut the sandwich through the wrapper which left shredded wrapper bits. We tried this while visiting downtown Omaha, and picked it for dinner. I am not sure why this place doesn't have higher ratings because it has a huge high quality variety of salads, sandwiches, soups, and pizza. It's really really good. We each got a side side salad and shared a small pizza. Our salads were filled with great healthy veggies and toppings. The pizza was quite good, we tried the veggie pizza in cauliflower crust, and it was delicious. One of the things I look for with a restaurant like this is a place that can make a real salad with real varied greens and a variety of fresh diverse toppings. Absolutely delicious and healthy. They make your food fresh and the customer service was wonderful, the staff is very friendly as helpful. It's great and I will be back! Thank you for serving healthy food! read more
