Today we waited for over an hour for our food because our waitress walked out apparently(not because of us I'm guessing terrible management.) The manager didn't bother to ask us what we had ordered so we were missing half of the food that we originally ordered. She then spoke condescendingly to us to ask us what we were missing. One of us literally had to leave because of the stupid amount of time that we waited and half of the food that was brought out was already going cold. It's a nice building I can tell someone sunk a lot of money in this place. Service was good. I had a beef fajita burrito. It was not great for the cost. The tortilla was homemade. The beef was dry and not seasoned well. It was cooked, diced up and set to the side for a while, rendering it cold. The queso on top of burrito was forgettable. My wife had the Avocado enchiladas. She was under the impression it was going to be an avocado cream sauce, maybe cheese or chicken in the filling? No. They put avocado in the corn tortilla as a filling. It was over ripe, warm, not a good idea for an enchilada. Desert was tres leche. It comes on a huge plate and the cake itself is a small serving. It's just not a great place to eat and is pricey. we came in for dinner a few weeks ago, and my experience has left me feeling icky ever since. everyone was pleasant, food was not great, but edible. my biggest issue was that we were seated close to the front desk, and the supervisor or manager was chewing the host out and belittling her pretty frequently while we were there. he had the host so distressed that she cried (in front of other customers and employees) and had to excuse herself multiple times. we left quickly and didn't try dessert because we didn't care to give any more of our money or time to that negative environment. read more

It's definitely "modern" Mexican food, so if traditional is what you're wanting, try Leal's, I heard they're owned by the same family. We were in Lubbock for a meeting and definitely were down for some Mexican food! My coworker ordered the $22 margarita which I will warn you is HUGE. Pretty funny when it arrived to the table with our queso. The margaritas were strong and kept flowing. We ended up shutting the place down on a Wednesday night! We had such a wonderful experience tonight. Our waitress was pretty awesome, the food was served way more quickly than we expected and was delicious. The steak and chicken were soo tender. The atmosphere was really nice. I would have given it 5 stars, but our only disappointment was the size of the enchiladas. About like the size of a cigar. What a great experience from start to finish! We were seated quickly and our server came to our table quickly. Our server was amazing, attentive and had great recommendations. The chips, salsa and hatch green chili queso are all amazing! The margaritas were good (spicy cucumber and frozen). I had the combination plate with a naked chilie relleno, beef enchilada with green sauce, soft corn beef taco and rice and beans. I was able to eat all this gluten free and they have a great menu in the back of the bar menu to help navigate gluten free options...there are many! Where to begin First off, lets get this out of the way, this restaurant adheres to maybe 2% of Covid rules. Masks, who wears those? Nobody here, that's who! Luckily we were seated in a remote corner of the dining room, but many large parties seated right around us within 15 mins of sitting down (no restrictions in Lubbock?) UPDATE: since the business owner decided to respond to this. Check on your employees walking around the place with their masks on their chins. How about distancing between tables. Onto the important part, food/service. I went here while in Lubbock for work with a coworker. We were sat instantly and given chips and salsa within a minute of sitting down. Chips were meh, salsa was decent. My coworker went to use the lavatory as soon as we were seated and the waiter for some reason thought i wanted to order drinks, apps, and dinner for 2 grown men at that time. When we did order I got a Superfruit margarita and my coworker got a Black Jack margarita. Mine tasted like bottom shelf cough syrup and his was apparently watered down with not a hint of alcohol in it. Our waiter took our meal orders when he dropped our drinks. We got an order of the fajita nachos with chicken. I got Fajita burrito with steak and he got the carne asada tacos. Service wasn't all that quick but our waiter did come back and get us another round of drinks. Unfortunately my second drink, a mojito this time, was also undrinkable as it tasted like medicine and nothing more. That's when my decision was made that this place deserved 1 or NO stars. Our food arrived, 2 entrees AND our nachos. Smooth! Photo attached of "Nachos". These looked like something I would have made at home for myself when i was 12 years old. I've never quite seen nachos with full slices of tomato on them. These were also so overcooked that the cheese was hardened on them. Honestly it was more of a taco salad than nachos. My coworker was satisfied with his tacos thankfully, but my burrito can barely be called that. What arrived at the table looked great, good presentation and everything. First bite was all it took. The melted cheese poured over the top of this burrito was absolutely 100% cheese whiz melted down. But even better was attempting to cut into this burrito with a fork (took 20 mins to get a knife) showed that this burrito was literally ONLY steak rolled into a tortilla and call it a day. That's not a burrito, how about anything else inside this thing?? Refried beans were cold and the rice was hard. Needless to say I cut open the burrito, ate the steak out of the inside and was done with my meal. So in the end I'm left with a couple of questions... Did every patron actually in fact HAVE Covid and lost their sense of taste? Do the owners of this restaurant just not care that their food and reputation is at stake serving stuff like this? My friend and I ate at Picoso's and discovered our new least-favorite restaurant in Lubbock. The hostess when we walked in was very apathetic (bordering on being rude), then we were seated only to wait 10-15 minutes before our drink orders were taken. The restaurant was nearly empty. When the waitress brought our waters, she forgot to give us straws and ran off before we could ask. She didn't return for another 8-10 minutes. The chips and salsa were alright, but fairly bland. After our food came out (we both ordered enchiladas), the plates were very messy looking. The taste was also very poor, as if it had been made earlier that morning or the day before and then just been reheated. My friend could not even finish his food. We also had weird stains on our plate from food that was not part of the orders. I had a "bean stain" on my plate and my food did not come with beans (picture attached to this review). The manager eventually came over when he saw we weren't eating and asked for our honest opinion. My friend told him that the food did not taste very good (like it had been reheated) and the manager got extremely defensive and told us they didn't own a microwave. He ended up comping the meal without saying anything. Our waitress never mentioned anything either and made it very awkward and almost guilted us for giving our honest opinion about the food when we were asked. We will not be returning. read more

First impression was not great! Was with a group of five people and we were told a table was not available. We sat down to wait and they were not very busy. Several other groups of people came in and immediately got a table. So we asked again and they stated that their big tables weren't available. This is understandable but the staff was not very friendly when we approached them. Pros: Atmosphere was great and prices are reasonable. Fajita plate was the best plate we ordered. They were tender and the beans that came with it were good! Cons: Food doesn't have enough seasoning and salsa is not spicy. Service was not great since we waited a while for a server to get our drinks and salsa. My order was also brought out after the rest of the groups. I came here with family and friends to celebrate my sister's high school graduation. They were very prompt in seating us, and we were a semi big group too which we all appreciated given how busy they were. They have complimentary chips and salsa like every other Tex Mex place, but had multiple salsas for our table which was a plus. Service was amazing - our server came to check on us multiple times during the meal, and was good about refilling waters which I personally as a very avid H2O consumer appreciate very much. I ordered the chicken stuffed avocado, and my goodness their portions are huge. Definitely worth the bang for your buck. They didn't skimp on avocado at all, but I definitely would've liked more chicken in my dish. The only thing I didn't like about the dish was how salty it was - I generally really like my food very well seasoned, but even this was a bit too much sodium for my taste. First the good, the building and atmosphere are very nice. A lot of money was spent to build a nice building and there are many nice touches to the decor that sets it apart. The service was excellent too! Unfortunately, the food is just "meh"'. This is owned by a member of the Leal family. Leals is a big deal in Muleshoe. Leals was on Slide in Lubbock several years ago. Picosos is just Leals 2.0 and offers the same bland watery salsa and chips that taste like they were poured out of jar and bag. The Supreme queso was less than "su premed" with the canned yellow cheese sauce. The very bland chimmichurri shrimp tacos didn't appear to have any actual chimmichurri on them, and the carne guisada was serviceable, but unspectacular. Bottomline, this is the third best Mexican food restaurant on Milwaukee in my opinion. Avoid the long wait and try Alberans or The Plaza, you will be glad you did. Once you have tried Picosos, you will likely be as "over it" as I am. Nothing special here, move along! read more

I love their branding!! The Edison bulbs are a very hip touch. The staff was great! My beloved and I approached the bar, three women had their purses on chairs. They were not polite enough to remove them and allow us to sit. Some purse hooks would help in getting more people in seats. We would have definitely consumed more drinks if seated at the bar. The food came out quickly. The taste was just ok. I had the Crispy Chile Relleno and he had the beef nachos. I certainly understand they are working out kinks. But on a Mexican Level it was a 2/5. It was as if your white uncle opened up a can of refried beans and made some "Spanish rice" from a box. The brisket that came with my Chile relleno was off in taste. The relleno was not as crispy as I expected but it was pretty good. The nachos were pretty unremarkable. My fiancée was very disappointed. I likes the familiar Leal's salsa, but it is too runny and runs out quickly. The cocktail I had was MEHDefinitely not worth the price. The atmosphere could be much more modern, upscale, hip and cosmopolitan if the music was LOUDER and the lights were dimmer giving the Edison bulbs an opportunity to really SHINE! First time trying Picoso's - my siblings really like it and I'm always up for good Mexican food. I arrived at 7:15. The decor is... uhh.. interesting. Definitely trying for "artsy industrial". I was told there would be a wait for a table so I went to the bar. There seemed to be two bartenders who were somewhat busy. A wait staff approached and asked if he could do just a quick pour behind the bar and the closest bartender said yes. I didn't think anything of it until another wait staff made comments of "oh so now you're a bartender?!" I'm guessing some TABC violation occurred but have no idea. I waited a few minutes until my drink order was taken. Then my drink just...didn't get made. Then my table was ready and I was seated. I saw many, many wait staff around (I was facing a main computer for orders), most wearing their face masks incorrectly. One was serving refills on water with the mask below his chin. I sat for 8 minutes without one person acknowledging me, despite literally being seated in the middle of the restaurant with employees going by every few seconds. I finally flagged down a hostess and asked if I had a wait staff. A young lady arrived a few minutes later and someone else brought chips and salsa. I asked the female wait staff for a double Tito's, club soda, lime. She was confused and I repeated the order. She said "so you just want two shots??" I also ordered water and queso while waiting on the rest of my party. I received the drinks 10 minutes after ordering. At 16 minutes, my friends had arrived but the queso had not. A different female wait staff cane to take my friends' drink orders. We mentioned the queso and she replied that I had "probably ordered it around the time the computers went down." My eyesight is pretty great (thanks, LASIK!) and I was literally watching wait staff use the computer that was 15 feet in front of me at all times. Picoso's wait staff seemed to only be employed to deliver food, not ask and check up on you. We had to ask for more chips and refills of drinks. Food/Drink - We seemed to wait longer than normal for our food, especially given the place had a ridiculously high staff-to-diner ratio and was maybe 1/3 full. The salsa was good, the right amount of spicy and no frills. Green chili queso was white melted cheese with a few chili's, no real flavor. My drink was definitely not the double I ordered and paid for. I got the Cozumel with chile relleno, taco and enchilada. You could tell from the heat of our plates that they'd been under a lamp for a while, The tortilla for the enchilada was nice. The taco and meat inside was cold with very little flavor. The relleno had weird yellow cheese inside - like one of those cheddar sticks in individual packs was just stuffed in there and it didn't melt properly. Breading was okay. The food overall, on a scale of 1-10 was a 5. If someone I loved really, really wanted me to try this place again, I would. But a restaurant's very first impression is how they treat their customers and this place has really crappy service. In a town with a ton of Mexican restaurants - you can do better. read more

After attending the soft opening last week my wife and I were impressed. The atmosphere sets Picoso's apart - it's definitely a little more refined than some of the Mexican restaurants in town that go for the in-your-face riot of color and chintz and noise. Think Mexico City, not Juarez. The food was good, especially my wife's cheese enchiladas with red sauce. We also enjoyed our dessert - tres leches cake. The best part of the experience, though, was our drinks from the bar. Picoso's has paid some extra attention to their bar setup, and it shows - the bartenders are pros, and the drinks are amazing. My Top Shelf Margarita was the best margarita I've had in Lubbock, period - perfectly tart and sweet with a flawlessly salted rim and an honest pour. My wife's sangria was also excellent. I'll be making it a point to drop in to have these drinks again, and to try some of the other cocktails on the menu. read more

The service is amazing, especially Alejandro his smile makes my day and makes my soul leave my body as I ascend into the universe. There is one thing that I hate more than anything in the world. It's the booth. It's atrocious. I prefer to dine in a booth because it makes me feel secure, but these particular booths are the worst I've ever sat in my whole life. I am forced to sit at a 45 degree angle and it feels like the worst form of torture anyone could ever go through, my goodness. But, this server, Alejandro Martinez, is absolutely incredible. Okay, so this place is awesome. We just came now, a month after opening, which is key. They have had time to work out their kinks and get going. The food here is great, and the service we received from Dora was outstanding. There are so many options here. I had the naked rellenos which were stuffed with cheese and laid on a bed of brisket. My kids had the chicken quesadilla and cheese enchiladas, while my husband had the crispy rellenos.
