    Pasta Rosa

The restaurant is on Watson on the hill near other neighborhood restaurants. Has a parking lot - positive for the area. Service was good. Very attentive and made sure we were getting everything we needed. Never had to wait for anything. Brought out bread - nice and fresh with olive oil and Parmesan cheese. Was a nice start to our dinner. Food so so House salad plain - lettuce with some shredded mozzarella Had the special- chicken Modiga - fair chicken was bland taste and tasted like just an ordinary slice of cheese on top and melted. Green beans not so great. Baked potato was good. Wife had the cannelloni - she liked it. She would recommend. Daughter had the pasta Rosa which has penne noodles, chicken, peas and mushrooms Was ok. She added a lot Parmesan and olive oil to perk it up. Chicken was tough. Think she picked out all the chicken. Ambiance was good. Nice and clean quaint on the hill restaurant

Celebrating a 65th Wedding Anniversary with a Party of 14. Service was wonderful!! The place is bigger than it appears. But, our food was lack luster at best. My Chicken Pietro was dry and over cooked. The side of White Pasta was bland and needed flavor. My hubby's Lasagna was burnt on the bottom of the metal pan so we actually sent it back and it came out in a different dish with way too much cheese.. yes you can put to much cheese on a dish The Salad was ok. I did love the dressing. I did try my daughter's Pasta Rosa which was good. The Fettuccine Carbonara was ok. Needed more sauce or something. The Appetizers were good.. my favorite was the Fried Artichokes. We have visited here for lunch awhile back and it was good so I am not sure if it was just an off night or it was just soooo busy there was no quality control??? Anyway. We may give it another try...

We were in the mood for a nice big salad and you sure can't go wrong when you get one here. Today I ordered the cobb salad which was loaded with ham, bacon, cheese, egg, and tomatoes. And of course, I used their house dressing. This is definitely a meal in itself, especially if you've had a few slices of their delicious bread with olive oil and Parmesan. Our waiter was great as always. Most of the staff here have worked here for several years and we've never had bad service. They look like there was a lot of holiday celebrations going on and the dining room was full. That is always good to see for a restaurant that's been around for so many years. Love that they are thriving.

The food here was great and the service was stellar. I had the shrimp scampi--perfectly cooked and paired really well with the white pasta. The table bread was surprisingly delicious, and I think everyone in our group left happy with their meals. Drinks were on point toowell-made and tasty. Would definitely come back!

Good Italian food for a fair price. Good place for groups. There is a ramp that is out of the way to enter the establishment. On the Watson side of the building. Otherwise it is two steps and through two doors. The women's restroom is tight and would not be very accessible. Truly enjoy coming to dine here and return a few times each year.

We came here as a last minute whim on a Friday night. We were really hoping to get a table for the 2.5 of us and wow did we luck out! This place looked to be a small place initially and then they continuously added on. Either way, the place was packed with large families and tons of regulars. All the staff was very friendly and also my felt that they were all family. Such a great place! Now, for the best part - the food. I ordered the Pasta Rosa and it came with a house salad. The house dressing was stunning. That's definitely a big indicator on how the rest of the meal will go. If the house dressing is good, the food coming after will be amazing. All of three food was great! I can't wait to come back here!

How old is this place? OLD! It's from the 1960s. Pietro's, a STL staple, is an old family-owned restaurant that exudes "my grandma made it" with its classic Italian dishes and welcoming atmosphere. Stepping inside, the aroma of rich, Italian meals fills the air, instantly transporting patrons to their bygone era. The menu includes time-tested recipes handed down through the years, offering hearty comfort food dishes alongside cherished family specialties. My grouper was fantastic! The portions are large and it's always packed! Get there early!

Had the lasagna. It was very heavy on the provel. I really liked the meat sauce and pasta. I would have enjoyed it more with a bit less cheese or maybe a bit of mozzarella to cut the richness of the provel. I really wish I had gone with a seafood dish. I had a wonderful classic gin & tonic which had me feeling relaxed.

We had so much fun at Pietro's the other night! I always forget how big this spot is, especially when I go back to the event space area. We waited a bit for a table, but no problem. They were super busy for a Saturday at 5pm! Our server was efficient and super busy. We ordered drinks first, and were given a wine list. We noticed there wasn't a cocktail menu which would have been super helpful! We ended up getting espresso martinis, a manhattan, and wine (not all mine lol). There was bread at the table for us, and we were brought olive oil and parm for it. For food we ordered the spinach balls which are deep fried breadcrumbs with spinach and cheese. Super delicious. I also got the dinner salad (provel= chefs kiss) and pasta Rosa. My pasta was super good. It was just the right amount of marinara mixed with the Alfredo. Chicken was fresh and cooked well. Pasta wasn't mushy, always a plus. I also really like their pizza here. It's a solid spot!

We stopped by for a light lunch. Jimmy our server was so friendly. My husband and I had a house salad fresh and crisp with grated cheese. Three of us had toasted ravioli (my new favorite) and our cousin had spinach balls, both dishes came with a delicious marinara sauce. We would definitely come back again!

The food was excellent from start to finish. We enjoyed the Seafood Pasta Suzanne, a perfectly cooked Prime Strip Steak with herb butter, the tomato and mozzarella appetizer, Fiore Borg, Pepper Berry Smash, Five Berry, carrot cake, and gelato. Everything was flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. What truly made the evening memorable, though, was our server, Timothy K. His recommendations were spot-on and helped us make great choices throughout the meal. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and struck the perfect balance of being helpful without ever hovering. Service like that elevates a meal from good to exceptional. We don't live in the area, but Charlie Gitto's will absolutely be on our list the next time we're in St. Louis. Highly recommended for both the outstanding food and the exceptional hospitality.

The vibe inside was warm, cozy, and sophisticated. There is also a small patio area that seemed to have a much different vibe. We were seated in a busy area of the restaurant, so there was frequent traffic passing by our table, which took away from the vibe a bit. It didn't bother us but I can see how it could bother others. Everyone we interacted with from the hostess to our waiter Brian and the other servers passing by our table, was friendly and welcoming. The manager even stopped to chat with us while we waited for our Uber. Now for the food, we started with the toasted ravioli we had heard so much about and it was good. For the main dish, we went with the lobster spaghetti which was one of the day's specials. The portion size was generous making it the perfect dish to share with my son. The dish was filled with lobster, shrimp, and other seafood, all tossed in a rich buttery sauce. We both really enjoyed it. Even though we were full from dinner, we didn't want to leave without trying dessert so we took a slice of carrot cake back to the hotel. It made a great late night snack. The cake was moist and the cream cheese icing was delicious. Overall, this is a nice spot for an Italian dinner.

I never actually saw the inside of the restaurant because one member of our party needed handicap accessibility, and unfortunately the entrance only had steps with no alternate accessible entry available. Thankfully, it was a beautiful evening and we were able to dine comfortably at one of the outdoor tables. Our server was kind, attentive, and very helpful throughout the meal. We started by sharing a few appetizers including the toasted ravioli, which St. Louis is famous for, along with calamari. Both were enjoyable and a great way to begin the meal. The meals came with bread, butter, and a bottle of seasoned oil for dipping, which was a nice touch. My entrée included a salad with a sweet Italian dressing that I absolutely loved -- honestly, I would have been perfectly happy eating a larger portion of just the salad. For my main course, I chose the veal parmigiana. The flavor was good, although the veal itself was slightly tough, and the pasta side came with shells rather than traditional spaghetti. To finish the evening, we shared tiramisu and a cannoli for dessert. Both were enjoyable, but the cannoli definitely won the flavor battle for our table. Overall, despite the accessibility concern, we enjoyed the experience, the service, and many parts of the meal.

Respectable Americanized-Italian restaurant on The Hill…read more.. I was in town for work with the ole ball and chain, and we met some friends at MOTH for dinner on a Friday... Quint lil restaurant nestled in the middle of the STL Italian district. The restaurant looks like a big Italian family room and smelled like my G-Ma's kitchen. The staff super super friendly and accommodating. As for the food, it was solid Italian but I wouldn't call it "authentic", but more Americanized Italian fare (albeit the toasted raviolis were as good as advertised). We really like that the staff didn't rush you... Good pacing with dinner and no pushiness to turn tables. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the price... $250 for 4 people is expensive regardless of it being STL. While I still contend Gian-Tony's is the best Italian restaurant OTH, MOTH was good and offers an enjoyable dinner experience with friends and family... It's easy to see why they've been a successful family run business for so many years.

I have had salve osteria on the hit list for a while, and my expectations were far exceeded. This place is both insanely busy and also a hidden gem at the same time. It does not get the attention, nor press it deserves. The place is jumping with good people and good vibes. I got their New Years special which was prix fixe with prime rib as the main event. Everything was superb. The cassoulet had a beautiful spice with a velvety texture. The crab tom yum risotto was so decadent. Silky smooth from the coconut with a beautiful herby finish from the mint chili oil to complement the crab. I never thought I'd say this, but the brussel sprouts stole the show! Cooked in some bacon fat they were crunchy, salty, and perfect. Oh, and the prime rib was everything a kid could ever dream of. Fatty and the cacao rub was amazing. The horseradish was spectacular. The whipped potatoes were light and airy. Think of mashed potatoes in whipped cream form. A texture and flavor combination I will now dream of because I imagine I will never get to experience something so lovely again. As for cocktails, i kept it simple with a martini... I mean, it is a gin bar, how could I not? The service was great. I was dining solo and the servers and bar tender kept me updated, well taken care, and treated with intense hospitality. Despite being super busy they still prioritized me! Can't wait to get back and try the normal menu, everything looks lovely in a lovely space full of lovely people!

The duck bread entree was seared to perfection and cooked exactly how it was meant to be cooked. The Panna Cotta was a seasonal masterpiece. I did have one issue: I ordered a Barr Hill Vodka Martini at a premium price, and it had a strong taste of Juniper. I alerted the staff and they were very apologetic and understanding, unfortunately the manager assured me it was Vodka and didn't acknowledge the possibility it tasted like gin. I'm guessing bartender failed to rinse the shaker properly after the previous gin shake, resulting in a vodka drink with a strong gin flavor. The staff kindly replaced the drink with a lower quality vodka that helped satisfy me. The situation was resolved, but I walked away feeling misunderstood and dismissed by the owner. I will be back and I do recommend this restaurant. :)

We ordered a bottle of Amarone and enjoyed it with the whole meal. For starters, we ordered the polenta with Italian sausage between the two of us. We could only exclaim about how creamy the polenta was. It was extremely hearty, with some vegetables and thinly sliced Italian sausage. I'm glad that the Italian sausage was thinly sliced because otherwise it would have been overpowering for my palette. The next dish that my daughter had was technically a Caprese salad, which was tomato and mozzarella. She didn't like the red onion, but had asked for balsamic vinegar on the side, which she added to the salad, and when I tried the balsamic vinegar, even I realized that it is one of the best that I have ever had. My daughter went with the gnocchi, and said that it was among the best that she had ever had. We shared a veal and mushroom risotto between the two of us, and it was perfectly moist, the veal was not overpowering, and it was perfectly cooked. The veal just simply melted in the mouth. My osso buco came on a saffron risotto, and the osso buco was fantastic, tender, and simply delightful. I enjoyed the marrow very much, but I almost wished that the dish came with polenta, not risotto. However, it was still magnificent. We took dessert to go, because we couldn't finish everything at all. However, this is definitely not going to be the last time we come here. The ambience was fantastic, very intimate, darkly lit, but still noisy, with people having fun here. Our service was top of the line, with great humor. Give this place a try.
