A hidden gem! I've been coming here for 7 years and absolutely love the chicken fried rice with hot sauce. I order it all the time from work. I really wanted to like this place since their lunch special comes with a spring roll, soup, and a salad. However, the soup was cold and the pad thai looked like it had been sitting out half the day. This place has the best lunch specials in town when it comes to Thai food. You get a free soup, salad, and spring roll to start. I usually get the thai fried rice which is phenomenal. Very disappointing red curry. I hate to have to say it, because the lady at the takeout counter was nice. But I eat red curry very frequently, and I have eaten it in many restaurants and even in Thailand, and Pilin Thai's version leaves much to be desired. Very bland, flavorless, skimpy portion, no pineapple to give it that bit of contrasting sweetness. After eating this I felt totally unsatisfied, and still a little hungry. My wife and I have been to Pilin Thai a few times, we found the food to be absolutely original and very delicious Thai food. I always order my food Thai Hot, wow very spicy just the way I order it. The servers are very nice and helpful. If you like Thai food, though, you're not going to like it. First, I tried the green curry. The vegetable mix in it looked good, but it tasted like spicy coconut milk. So, they brought me chicken pad Thai instead. There was so much sugar it was grainy, and looked overcooked. The sauce was out of balance, no lime taste, no vinegar taste, no peanuts, etc. The green onions had a nice bite, though. I just ate the pad Thai and gave the restaurant up. I got the pad se-ew was pretty good. My friend got the pad thai and was also pretty good, but not the best ever. Tom yum soup was no good. Had to much lemon grass and smelled horrible so I couldn't eat it. Spring rolls were alright. Sauce for spring rolls was clear and had no taste so that was weird. I am in love with this place. It's never busy when we go but the staff are always friendly and even remember us now that we've been 3 or 4 times. The restaurant is very clean and the food is always so good. I usually get the yellow curry and my husband gets some kind of duck curry dish (I forget the name of it) but he loves it. the problem I have with this place is whenever we call, they never answer the phone and their hours are so odd, you never know when they're open. they don't even have an active voicemail. sometimes they're closed for weeks at a time. i also own a business and it doesn't look good for business when your hours are inconsistent. other than that, the few times I've eaten here, the food is descent. the pad Thai is yummy but really salty. read more
