We stopped off here for some dinner and drinks before catching a concert at Belly Up. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the nice weather and chill vibes. They had some excellent beers on tap. We ordered the wings and they were delicious. The best part of our experience was our service. Chase is an excellent server. He made excellent recommendations on their drinks and he was always around to ask if we needed anything. This place is so cool! It is right next to Fletcher Cove park in Solano Beach and it is the perfect place to grab dinner and drinks and then take a walk on the beach. They have great chicken wings which they offer in traditional Buffalo as well s many other unique varieties. We love the old bay version! They also do great vegetarian options on many of their dishes. My wife loves to get the nachos in a vegetarian friendly option. The salsa is house made so you definitely should get some chips and salsa! They have a great beer selection and a fun outdoor seating area. Or you can sit inside and catch a game on one of the TV's. While spending the day on the beach, we had Pillbox recommended to us, so we ordered it to go. It was Saturday during Labor Day weekend, but we were able to call and place an order without any issues. The wait time for our food wasn't very long either! Was very impressed. We tried the All Day Burrito and Blackened Chicken Club. Both were massive portions! They were equally as delicious! I ordered the tots with my Club sandwich and liked those too. However, the sandwich stole the show. Would definitely order that again! Cannot recommend enough. If you're in the area, you gotta give this place a shot. Delicious food with huge portions. Great place to watch sports, or just grab a drink and a bite. Big outdoor patio space, and decent interior seating numbers too. Sundays they have a special NFL menu, and have the tvs labeled so you can sit with a view of the game(s) you want. The all-day burrito is a favorite. The tots are the star - always perfectly crispy and delicious with the homemade ranch. Friendly and helpful staff make it an even more pleasant experience. I came to Pillbox Tavern to have a few beers during happy hour and I loved it! They have a nice patio to sit in a sunny day and happy hour 3-6 pm (Monday to Friday). I had an Amber Ale and the Japanese lager - both were really good. I thought we order within happy hour time but one of my orders was earlier than 3 pm. Ryan (one of the owners) was so nice and came to explain how the system works and adjusted the price so we would get the happy hour price. I had a great experience. This was such a nice little spot in Solana Beach! Went there with my group of girlfriends before a meeting. They have a great happy hour from 3-6pm with $1-2 off beers and wines. They had food at happy hour prices as well! The outdoor space is a nice addition especially with great weather like we had there yesterday. It is an extended area with benches and tables in the parking lot. Our waitress was so attentive and quick! We had a group of 8 women with many orders. She was kind, polite and even asked what time we had to leave so we could finish in time. Would recommend and looking forward to trying more of them menu. read more

Great spot in Solana Beach and there was 4h street parking nearby available. Pillbox has many high tops indoor and an outdoor dining area that was nicely shaded from all the umbrellas. They were a bit understaffed but they did their best to provide service quickly and they took our drink orders immediately. Having an infant in my lap, handheld items were off the table, so I selected the chicken tenders with fries and ranch sauce. Once we were able to flag down our waitress to place our food order, the order actually came out fairly quickly. The fries were lightly seasoned, thick cut, and perfect in texture. The chicken tenders were too heavily breaded but juicy on the interior. Overall it was a solid place for a bite and brew. read more

What a delightful surprise! We were in the area for a doc appt and wanted to grab lunch near the beach on a gorgeous June day. Thought we'd be getting mid food, but instead had one of the best basics ever! We have 4 kids and have eaten at a thousand burger/beef dip/strips places and come to expect little. This place does those "basic grill" items delightfully well! Hot, crispy fries. What looked like a homemade burger patty. The beef dip was flavorful and the aujus delicious and not just salty! This is a great spot next to the beach! It's a cozy tavern style restaurant/bar. There is an indoor and outdoor seating area with several TV's. I was there on a Football Sunday afternoon so there were 3 different games to cheer on your favorite team. The staff is super cool with laid back demeanors. The food was delicious! Really good happy hour. Not a ton of options, but great service by Mark, who was on it from minute one! Really fun server. Started with a ice cold Pacifico and chard for Deb. My first time here the server recommended the marinated Mahi tacos. They were delicious! I will definitely return when I am in the area.

We love to come here in the summer months, the food and service are great BUT we went there this month and sadly the food was not good. My chicken took a long time and came out rubbery like it was frozen then microwaved. It took a while to even get started with drinks but our food was slow to come out and it wasn't busy. We will be back and I will adjust my reviews if the next time is as good as our summer visits! read more
