Came here on a Friday night and I was amazed by the promptness of their service. We were sat quickly and greeted quickly. Our food came out fairly quick as well and hot. The waitress recommended getting something that you can't get anywhere else, however, the blackened grouper was a horribly disappointing meal. After the first bite, I knew I was going to be let down, the blackened grouper had no real flavor, the "crabcake" on top was incredibly salty, tasted like old bay spice caked on. The fries had no taste and were soggy. The Mashed potatoes were palatable. The conch fritters had more flavor for a third the cost. The grouper was a flavorless $50 meal ($100 total for both of us). Take my advice avoid the allure of this place and up sale on this dish, and your wallet won't feel violated like my does. read more

Great place. Food is good, service was great, drinks were inconsistent (first one perfect, second one was totally different). Sam was our server, he's new but did a great job, super friendly and accommodating. I ordered the crab cake with potatoes and green beans. I loved the sides, and the crab cake was just okay. My husband had mozzarella sticks and fish and chips. He is quite picky and he was pleased with his food. "Surprisingly good" were his exact words. I asked what my sides were: either ONE salad or two regular sides. The location is right in the heart of downtown Lakewood Ranch by a handful of niche stores and the theatre. Some lovely little lakes are also nearby for ambiance. I sat in the outside eating area. Beautiful sunny day. A breeze. And my iced tea. Perfection. I enjoyed the gator bites first. Very tasty but I felt like the portion was kind of small given the price. I would've liked bigger pieces of gator or just more. I then decided to have the shrimp Po boy with sautéed shrimp. I added some bacon. It was AMAZING. You won't go wrong with this sandwich. We have been going to Pinchers in Venice for ages and usually pleased. Today was AWFUL! Food took forever and the shrimp and potatoes were cold. The shrimp was meant to be grilled, looked and tasted like they were microwaved. Husband told a server, food taken back. After waiting for ages with no update we walked out. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager about terrible service. Anyway, he said he was sorry, and it was sent back for recook? I've been dying to come here just to try the pinchers claws and they were Really good, just love the fact that you don't have to crack them yourself lol. The stuffed shrimp were very good and the grouper was perfectly cooked. It was way too busy when we first came and we had a movie to catch which is conveniently located right next door to them and the host said they didn't close until 11pm so we decided to eat late instead but I was happy about it because no one was in there lol so no Covid scares for us!! They have TVs everywhere so it's great because my son was watching the game. It's a little on the pricey side so don't come if you don't wanna spend a bit of cash for this and a lemonade our bill was $80.20 and well worth it. We called ahead for seating but still waited 45 minutes. Not sure the call ahead actually works. We had 8 in our party. The crab legs were well liked. The crab cheese dip, conch fritters, hush puppies, and blackened grouper were good food options. Very dissatisfied with the crab cakes. It was a lot of filling and little taste. I ordered one and didn't even finish it. My husband usually finishes what I don't eat and he took one bite and left it. Good service once we were seated. I liked sitting outside, even though it rained for a few minutes. They closed the blinds during the rain and re-opened once it passed. I'd been putting off a visit to Pinchers thinking it would be an over-priced tourist trap, but I was pleasantly surprised. Jared was excellent! He was very friendly, attentive, and great with recommendations. I had the snow crab legs which were delicious and the side options are great. My only annoyance is the marketing around 2 for 1 drinks, common in beach towns. We all know we're gonna pay out the a$$ for the first one and they're not very transparent with those prices. Rarely do you find a restaurant that has Great Food Excellent Service 2 for 1 Drinks All Day Happy Hour Food that is Cheap & Good What also really impressed me was that you could ask any employee walking by to get you something and they got it for you without saying I'll send your waiter over. I've been to pinchers in the past. It wasn't great. Not sure if it's this location but my fish Mahi Mahi was juicy and cooked perfectly. My whole meal was really good. I don't think my waiter liked that I asked if the kids meal was free because he nickel and dimed me for a kids drink which should have been an extra 2.00 but he charged me the full price and the full price of the smiley fries. It's fine I just reduced my tip from my usual 25% to %15. I'd go back but only to this location. read more

We had the cheesy crab dip to start. It was very good. I had the grilled shrimp tacos. They were very average. Not much flavor. I wanted a beer, but they didn't have a single beer that has any flavor. They have the usual lineup of average beers .. bud light, mich ultra, etc, etc.... It astounds me that in this day and age of countless local breweries with plenty of great tasting beer, this place has none. I can only imagine that the owners or whoever decides on what beer to carry live in some sort of vacuum, surrounded only by Budweiser drinkers. Yee haw! Seafood is typically more than a normal restaurant but prices here are very expensive for what you get. Ordered the jumbo stuffed shrimp, for $20 and received smaller than even normal sized shrimp. With a little ball of crab cake on top drenched in sauce. Mashed potatoes had so much garlic and salt I honestly couldn't eat them. Same with the green beans. They were cooked very nicely. But soaked in butter and salt. I couldn't even get through those!... I hate complaining about things online. But we were never greeted by a manager. We made our concerns known, but fell on def ears. I live near the beach and it was more expensive than the beach , which makes no sense. The teriyaki chicken wings, crab Rangoon and hush puppies were all good. It was hot but not fresh, so we can only assume it sat in the window a while. But even fresh wouldn't have given it flavor. I went with their "famous fish n chips". Famous for??? No favor, not even any salt. Thank goodness I got the steak fries extra crispy. Now those had flavor and salt. Hubs got the blackened shrimp and when I asked how the baked beans were, his response was "sweet". When asked about the shrimp - " not much. Cool and not much of the blackening seasoning ". Unfortunately when we walked in it smelled fishy and his dirt bite tasted fishy. We both vowed never to return. Another fun find near Sarasota FL...Pinchers in Lakewood Ranch FL. Pinchers is a chain in FL, but what makes this Pincher's unique is the area its in. Lakewood Ranch main street is a consortium of nice high end shops and restaurants. So you can eat and walk to some awesome shopping before or after lunch and/or dinner. Let's talk Pincher's.... setting expectations. This is a laid back bar setting, very casual and a place to enjoy good seafood, good drinks in a relaxed "beachy" restaurant feel environment. .... its not a five star restaurant, but it is located adjacent to an upscale area. The service to food price point is really good. They have "all the time" 2 for 1 drinks and they do not skimp. Check the pick out of Dori sitting with her 2 for 1 mammoth and very strong margaritas. The only thing you have to watch out for is if you order 2 drinks they have to bring you all 4 at the same time. ...no worry if you drink fast. My advice, order 1 and share the extra drink. Our waiter was hilarious, again, set expectations, this is a laid back fun bar, not a place to worry too much about having the flatware in the right place on the table. Our waiter had a slight memory issue, which made us feel a little like being in 51st dates, it was pretty funny. He got the order right, but I have to say we were a little worried, he asked the same questions several times. We shared the Blackened Mahi Sandwich, which was awesome. The Mahi was juicy, and grilled to perfection. We also shared the Crab Dip, and it was wonderfully cheesy. I have to admit, I don't go for dips too often but thus really worth sticking your toes in.
