The best meal I had during my week long visit from Texas. I was tremendously surprised at the level of food in the Portland area. Went for Sunday brunch today (7/19) - no one else there, which should have been a clue.... Outside eating area is quaint and nicely laid out and where I decided to sit. I ordered the hash and eggs breakfast ($14). My medium eggs were VERY overdone and like rubber. The hash, which looked homemade was awful - very salty, dried out and mostly burnt. The server never came by to check on things, refill coffee or anything. When she came to clear and give the check, she asked it I was still working on my meal. I politely explained that I couldn't eat the meal because it was dry and mostly burnt, which she could clearly see. She said nothing. She did nothing. Customer satisfaction is clearly not of interest here. Don't waste your time on this place. read more

We stopped by during our week stay in Pine Point and everyone was satisfied with their meals. The waiter was very friendly and made a great recommendation of the Brussel sprouts appetizer. I also enjoyed a Caesar salad as an appetizer which had a unique flavor almost smokey- both my husband and I approved! My husband and I shared a carne pizza and were both pleased. The pizza also reheated well. Another family member enjoyed a vegetarian pizza- said it was "exceptionally good", another had the shrimp tacos said it had a kick to it but also happy with her choice. And grandma had the burger and fries and said it was good but very thick (95 years old and still ate 3/4 of it!) Overall we all agreed it was a tasty meal in a nice atmosphere. This had the potential to be a pleasurable experience. Our server, Emily was quite friendly and professional. Beet Salad was great. Mussels were very good, and the entrees were tasty. Scallops dinner and Salmon dinner were above average, nicely done. Kids ravioli was way overpriced for the small portion, and the Rib eye was also a very small portion for the price. But the worst was to come... I had a bourbon pineapple smash cocktail that was very weak. I asked for some more bourbon and got charged $8.75 for a shot. So all said and done my cocktail cost $19.25, and it was not good at all. This never would have happened in a restaurant that values its customers and is properly managed. Then the desserts took 20 - 25 minutes to arrive. Very pricey and not worth it in the end... not a good experience. They got my money tonight, but I'll head to Portland the next time I want a nice dinner. Definitely not worth the money! Overpriced and lacking care. read more

As a visitor from Los Angeles I was impressed with how consistently good our meal was. The staff was very friendly and efficient. We started with a strawberry rhubarb martini and had the smoky chicken quesadilla as an appetizer. When we found out the owner was Italian we tried the pizza, which was one of the tastiest I have had. The patio is very cozy and relaxing. Last Saturday, my husband and I went to the PPG for dinner. We were not greeted upon entry into the restaurant and the wait staff seemed confused about how to handle the busy night. When were finally greeted by the owner, she was almost inconvenienced that we wanted to have dinner, but didn't have reservations. Because I won't judge a restaurant by one visit, today I called to make reservations. When the owner called me back, she didn't ask for me by name and was unclear about whether they had reservations available. She, again, acted inconvenienced that I wanted reservations. The food is fine, but you can get much better food with a lot better service in Portland. read more

What a fantastic experience! Everything was top notch, including service, atmosphere and food. The appetizers of the beet salad, Brussel sprouts and seafood chowder were delicious. We loved the PPG! Went for breakfast, so I splurged with a lobster eggs Benedict that was amazing! I was quite disappointed with my experience at this place especially with all the good reviews. To start, I made a reservation for 5 people only to find out when I arrived that the tables only accommodate 4 and that they just pull another chair up. When I seemed confused, the unfriendly and rather annoyed looking hostess told us well you can go outside as the tables are bigger. We promptly escorted ourselves outside to dine with the mosquitoes as apparently the tiki lamps were not working again to find 4 person tables. The waitress was wonderful and very attentive. I ordered crab cakes to start and it was okay; too much mayo but nice flavor. For dinner, a few of my family members order the chicken parm. This was terrible! Do not order this. I ordered salmon which was fine. It was over some white rice with veggies. Again nothing amazing. I would not return however the bar did look nice and would be a nice place to maybe get a quick drink without eating. read more

We waited for 25 minutes before a waitress offered water and bread. The service staff seems to be untrained. The food is very pedestrian, not worth the price they are charging. My wife ordered the risotto which was tasty, but was only about a 1/2 cup of food for $20. The real clincher to the evening was that our waitress did not even ask if we wanted coffee and desert. It would serve the owners well to get a restaurant consultant in there to teach them how to run an upscale establishment. When we told our server about it should said the manager would come over. Manager did not come until after our check came with only $3 off because of missing crab. PPG has become one of our go to places! Since they've opened they seemed to get better and better! They've opened up the dining room so you're more comfortable and don't feel cramped. The portions are not always the same, but the flavors of everything is terrific! We usually start with a cesaer or beet salad- we've had their pizzas, tried many pastas and love to choose from their specials. Ordered a burger medium temp. Got it almost rare. Blood soaked bottom bun. Fell apart into quarters after picking it up. Let waiter know. Got burger back and was the same reconstructed burger. Half was ok, half was still undercooked. Also due to the burger falling apart the first time, I don't think some of it made the round trip back to my plate for then second go-round. The waiter felt bad. Not his fault right? Tried to push the remaking of the burger pretty hard. I already ate some of my fiancé's pizza, which wasn't bad. Didn't want the burger anymore. Told him to just take it off the bill. He took it off. So the waiter, again saying he feels bad and wants to make it right, asks us if we want dessert. We say no thanks. He then asks if I want a beer because he feels bad, everyone at my table under the assumption that it's complimentary for the burger issue. I get the bill and the second beer is on it. Overall, it was a nice experience. Pleasant atmosphere, clean and nice decor. Service was efficient, but a bit erratic. Waitress was very friendly. One of the owners stopped by the table and chatted with us a bit, which we thought was nice. We had a white pizza with prosciutto and asparagus that was just fantastic. The crust was one of the best we've ever had. We found the pizza so good we bought a second one to bring back and share with friends we were seeing that night. The entrees all looked great, but we thought they were a bit pricey, which is why we went with the pizza. We loved the drinks and bartenders, the food is very overpriced for "fresh pasta" which is not at all, we received boxed spaghetti as a substitute for homemade fettuccine with no apologies. We are Full-Time RVer's and we travel from place to place about every 2 weeks. We leave reviews for every place we visit. So, we saw this restaurant several times and kept saying we should try it. Looked them up online to make sure it didn't say reservations only and it didn't so we attempted to go there. I was greeted at the door with a scoured looking woman who I no know as the owner. She pointed to 2 bar seats that were open but didn't speak lol. I said are you reservations only and she shook her head yes. Still no words. So we decided the next day to make a reservation and try them out. I still didn't know she was the owner. When we arrived the same lady greeted us at the door and I told her our name and she didn't speak she pointed to a table for us to go sit at. No she didn't seat us at this so called reservation only restaurant. The restaurant was small and quaint exactly what we were looking for. As we are ordering drinks and appetizers, we always order a bottle of wine and take the remainder home with us. We were celebrating and wanted to order a shot for each one of us to do a toast to another successful month. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 dinners. We were denied our celebratory shots. She assumed who was driving, she assumed everything making an a** out of herself. After everything I will tell you the food was great, but the customer service aka the owner is AWFUL!!!! Remember we went there twice and were treated exactly the same. So it wasn't just a bad day! That is who she is!!!! read more

We found this small quaint restaurant on Yelp, and we were not disappointed. From the friendly hostess to our waitress, Emily, the service was great. Shared a crab cake, one of the best we have ever had! We each had our own salad, should have shared. Bill had the Cesar salad, I had the beet salad with goat cheese, and took it home. Pine Point Grille misses the mark on the food taste. The quality and freshness of the food is good, but chef choices are off. Perhaps they try to hard to be unique instead of just making it great simple food. The Brussels sprouts appetizer for example was burned on the outside on purpose with a seasoning that just did not work well. The prosciutto pizza had overwhelming garlic. The mushroom and shrimp risotto has too much oil and undercooked shrimp. The food quality is there, the atmosphere is there, the service is good, but they really need to refine the menu ingredients and pay attention to what is not being eaten by customers. There is nothing wrong with a fresh and unique menu but only if it's tested and good. read more

So excited to find a great restaurant near OOB!!! Went with 3 adults and my son (10) and we licked out plates. It was actually embarrassing because seriously, all 4 plates were clean. The 4 entrees were Lobster Mac and cheese, a lobster casserole, a special which was pork medallions and last but not least, a grilled cheese. My son is still raving about it. We were so happy with our dinner at PPG that we ate here two times In one week. I thoroughly enjoyed the steak which was so tender and very flavorful. My son ordered the chicken Oscar twice and others loved the salmon special. My only comment is that it seems there is one pepper grinder for the entire restaurant as it moved from table to table as requested. There's a salt shaker on the table but no pepper. The owner is very friendly. The restaurant is on the small side but there's a lovely garden patio with tables. High points for the great bar stools with backs, foot rail for us shorties and a pocketbook hook! This used to be my favorite place, but lately they are slacking. My potato with the scallops wasn't fully cooked. The lobster carbonara was $37 and hardly had any lobster. Good Lord, save your money! We ate there on a fairly slow evening a few days ago. GREASY scallops, poorly cooked risotto (the kiss of death for my husband), & the waitstaff was fairly...basic?...people you'd expect more at The Clambake in terms of knowledge of cuisine. Our waitress took 15 minutes to arrive and there appeared to be a LOT of the owner's family milling about. We felt they should have helped more or at least gotten the heck out of the way! There was a little old man who greeted us at the door, who then proceeded to hover only to boast of the establishment's accomplishments to the point of annoyance. And where do they get off charging nearly $10/glass of low grade Chardonnay? It took 3 hours for plates that were poorly presented. And, oh! we could hear the cooks (sorry, with food that bad, were hesitant to call them chefs) swearing in the kitchen! Word has it they got Back Bay Grille's cast off for "head chef". Wonderful dinner for our party of 8 on June 25. I have been coming to Scarborough for more than 40 years, and each year we struggle to find a nice upscale dinner choice. The Brussels Sprouts appetizer was amazing and the ginger soy chicken wings were delicious. A member of our party ordered the crab cake appetizer for dinner and it was large and filled with crabmeat and a small amount of flavorful filling. I chose the Lobster Tranglotti, a large triangle shaped ravioli stuffed with lobster and a lemon butter sauce. Hands down one of the best lobster dishes I have enjoyed in all my years visiting Maine. Two in our group ordered the Seared Scallops, they both said the scallops were excellent and the polenta authentic. Two others ordered the Chicken Oscar they both were thrilled with the choice as the chicken was moist and delicious as was the crab and hollandaise. The final two guests ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak and and Bacon Wrapped Whitefish both received a thumbs up. Enjoyed red and white wine reasonably priced. Wonderful friendly staff and owner. We arrived at around 6:30pm on a Monday evening and the parking lot was packed with BMWs and Audis, which was a red flag in my mind, despite our party arriving in a BMW and Lexus. Maybe my trepidation was because our cars were the only ones with green plates. Our group of six walked in, were told that there was a 45 minute wait, and bellied up to the bar. A nice young woman took our drink orders and was extremely pleasant. I missed exactly what happened next, but the hostess, (who I think might have been the owner or manager) came to us and let us know we would have a table in around five minutes. She mentioned something about our asking for a table nicely, which is surprising, since my wife did the asking:). She was extremely outgoing and really made us feel special and at home. Really a nice beginning to the night. Our drinks arrived and the house chard was quite good and generously poured. My martini was excellent, one of my measures of a restaurant. No Beefeaters, alas, but I am pretty good friends with Tanqueray, though usually with tonic. We ordered salads and dinner and had a nice time visiting. The salads were upon us pretty quickly, especially considering how busy the place was. The salads where nicely composed and delicious. Entrees were all excellent and well priced, at least compared to were we come from, the mountain hamlet known as the Ski Capital of the East, where we have many nice restaurants, but pay a steep price for our dining experiences. I think the highest priced entree was $27 and there were items on offer for under $20. If $27 seems steep, have no fear, there are options like pizza and a burger which you could enjoy for far less. Some really interesting sounding appetizer/small plates are on the menu as well. Three of us had lobster ravioli, one surf and turf, and I had a flank steak with potato gratin that was superb. All of us really liked our meals. Way too full for desert. lf you are looking for a very nice dining experience with great drinks, great food, super nice staff, and an unstuffy, homey atmosphere, this is your place. read more
