I've been coming here semi regularly for the past 2 years with my now fiancé and children and have yet to have a bad meal here. I could probably review 80% of the menu... Huevos Rancheros = mmmm New York and eggs = bomb Prime Rib = 10/10 Open Face Chili Burger = so good! Chicken Fried Steak = my favorite The food is very good and the portions are enormous. The service is great in a Cheers kinda way, they know us and many others by name. The staff is great with our kids which is a plus. Bad bad customer service! Waitress was so rude! As we placed our order she checked if they had egg benedits, comes back and said yes we have them, so we order. When we first steped in the waitress said, oh just sit wherever you like, I was a bit confused as to if she was even going to find us since the seating is super akward. To my suprise, not only did she find us in a timely manner, she was pretty rad. Like the old school cafes where ya get the "hun" and "my dear" ...I'm a fan of that. The portions were pretty big, fair prices, the food was pretty good. Not like THE BEST, but tastes great, big portions plus excellent service. BIG portions, fresh ingredients, super friendly staff = will visit again. I am not a regular as I don't live in Santa Rosa. This is the second time I visited Piner Cafe--been there once last year and was impressed by the portion of their breakfast!! I ordered my favorite corned beef hash and eggs and no surprise as it was just as delicious as last year during my first visit. My brother ordered a pancake (2 super fluffy ones) and the size is bigger than his head. My friend said one skillet per pancake, super powerful, haha!!! Look forward to going there again next year. The generosity of their portions is what I love most about this place. Their potatoes, however, were not as crispy as I like them to be, but they were still very good. Next time, I'll request it and see what happens. I do wish they offered freshly squeezed orange juice (not the everyday orange juice) because it would have perfected the experience for me. Not a good 1st impression when your brought a dirty spoon with someone else's leftover yummies on it ( see my attached photo ) It's Sunday morning, you just rolled out of bed. You would like to try a breakfast place you've never been to before, so you hop on Yelp. Yelp brings you to the Piner Cafe with their stellar reviews. The place is packed like grand central station. People are waiting outside, people jammed inside, there's no parking. You're solo and find a nice single seat at the bar. You get a menu and served coffee. You add your creamer and go to stir it with the silverware you were just handed. Oopps..... this one still had someone else's wet yummies on it. Okay.....one slipped through the cracks. It happens. I get it! You politely ask to swap out your spoon for another because of the funk. When you bring it to the attention of the waitress, she is not concerned whatsoever, takes the spoon and throws it back into the spoon bin before my very eyes. I understand, this place is a zoo! It left me completely Flabbergasted!!!!! I remained kind and polite the entire time. The food came out in less than 8 mins flat How can that be with a busy diner? I do wanna say, the waitresses bust their ass, work hard and are on point. But this place is just a tad too busy. Kind of felt like cattle being herded. It's didn't have that warm fuzzy and intimate feeling. However, the amount of food you get is ridiculous. So much food for a great price ! Would I come back? Yes! Stuffed French toast was amazing! Has a bit of a wait on a Sunday, but that's to be expected. Main reason for the 3 stars rather then 5 was the service. Server seemed to have a bad attitude and not very attentive. Then she charged us extra for some banana with my sons pancakes which was meant to be a substitute since he does not eat meat and did not want the included bacon or sausage. To top it off, looked like less than half a banana. I also ordered decaf coffee due to being pregnant, it was definitely not decaf that was brought. For breakfast places in Santa Rosa, this is up there with the best. Be prepared to wait, it's worth it. They have a good selection of specials and basic breakfast food. The ingredients are fresh, the staff is friendly, and there's lots of cool stuff on the walls to look at while you wait. There's also outdoor seating, which I would have preferred but it was raining and cold on the day we were there. Will definitely be back. read more

The food was excellence hot very fresh the portions are very generous I can see why all the locals come here for breakfast at 10:00 all the table had customers I had the breakfast burrito fresh fruit and hash browns. We come here often. There always seem to be a waitlist but we never have to wait long. The servers and the Busters are on top of their game and they are easy to talk to and friendly. There are a lot of choices of food to eat, we are never disappointed. I love that they have a mint bush in front and the place is surrounded by beautiful roses and lavender. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. My favorite it the Artichoke Omelet. The staff is friendly and efficient. Then I looked at the specials of the day, and that looked much better. I ended up getting eggs Benedict with avocado and tomatoes. The coffee was fine, nothing was special about it. Now let's talk about the food. I've had many many many eggs Benedict in my life, and this one was just... not great. The generous chef put so much Hollandaise sauce on my food, I could not see anything, it was just a mountain of yellow. The english muffins underneath the eggs started to get soft and soggy, because they were dying under the weight of the Hollandiase sauce, and was also surrounded by Hollandaise sauce. The sauce looked kinda greasy too. I was expecting better food, and left disappointed. read more

I'd rate the service in this place at a 1 for sure. The food was decent so that bumped it up to a 3 star review. Waitress was rude and not paying attention to us at all. My coffee cup was empty far more than it was full. She was pushy to get our order in right after we sat down, and once she got our order she was gone. She came over to drop our bill on the table before we even got our food, and then after we got our food she did not stop by our table once to see if there was anything else we needed or how we were doing. Mix the inattentiveness with a crappy attitude and you get what I'd call a not so welcoming atmosphere. Aside from being cold, the food was pretty good, so for that we were happy. We'll go back again sometime since it's close to home, but this will not be my go-to breakfast spot, that's for sure. read more

Went to piner cafe this weekend with my mom and had such a great experience! We had abbey as our server and she was such a sweetheart. I'm very picky so I asked lots of questions but she was patient and she answered all my questions. They had lots of food to choose from with very reasonable prices. I thought we would be waiting for a bit since it was somewhat crowded but abbey brought our food out promptly and was super attentive. I'll most definitley be returning here in the future read more
