The portions are good which is ok if youre hungry. The staff isnt very enthusiastic about being there or about you coming there, and some of the server attitudes border on snotty. The food itself is mostly bland and cheap quality.. its like cheap quick corner chinese joint food, served in a dressed up restaurant with a few dollars more tacked onto the price. Haven't been to pings in well over 9 years (been living out of the area), so when my husband suggested Chinese for date night, i knew where we had to go to my old favorite place in town. We were seated right away to a booth. Right away i noticed it want as darkly lit as it used to be, but maybe should be. The decor is very 90`s. Our waitress was nice enough but had zilch in the personality department and apologized for taking so long but she was very busy. She would apologize a couple times throughout dinner, but there wasn't really anybody there...so what was she busy with? Anyway husband ordered a cocktail and couldn't taste the liquor but i could and i ordered iced tea and after going back and forth, i got the plum wine as well and it was AMAZING. we ordered the tidbit tray for our app, bbq pork, wontons, and a shrimp eggroll. This came with red sauce with just a tad of hot mustard. It also had sweet and sour sauce that congealed quickly...so that looked gross. The appetizer was pretty good. Shrimp eggroll wasnt heavy and the wontons were crispy and hot, purl? A little dry, but once i dunked it in the red sauce it was yum. WE Got the #8 & #9.no substitutions allowed, which was kind of a bummer because i really wanted wonton soup and no numbers anywhere came with that soup. I ordered the standard egg flower soup and hubby upgraded to hot and sour. Both soups were really good the egg flower had no oily taste and his soup was delicious. Or food came and we were totally overwhelmed with how MUCH food came to us! He said overall his #8 was "okay" my number came with almond chicken chow mein and the amount of celery that came in it was ridiculous and little chicken. Lots of almonds though, so I overlooked the other two flaws. We asked for two to go boxes and left, our main courses barely touched. Stopped in for lunch. Won't make that mistake ever again. Started out with potstickers - not great, but the packaged takeout sauce should have been a warning. Ordered their "specialty" Schezuan lunch combo, with fried rice. The dish was just okay, the fried rice was probably the worst I have ever had. The three star rating on Yelp now, is overly generous. The best item I had with the meal was the ice water. And, my wife's meal was actually worse - a greasy lump of bean sprout and noodles with a mystery meat added. read more

While it's not the highest quality Chinese food, I still felt it was good for the price. My only complaint would be the lack of crab puffs. Lemon chicken was very sweet, but in a good way. General Tso chicken was also on the sweeter side, while I personally prefer it to be almost painfully spicy. I'll try it again. read more

Very large portions for the price!! We ordered the orange chicken. It was a HUGE plate with very fresh, large pieces of chicken. It was served with fresh orange slices, and had a very strong smell of fresh orange (we loved this). It also came with a large side of fried rice. We also ordered the pot stickers. I have never experienced anything like this before but I made a yelp because I felt so strongly about what happened. We called in for takeout. When asking questions about our order the woman was very short with us but that can be forgiven. When we got home and opened it up the food was all thrown around in the boxes and the noodles in our chow mein were just sitting on top, half soggy half burnt. The egg flower soup was all broth. No veggies and barely any egg and tasted bland, I couldn't eat it had to throw it away. My husband called just to let them know that we were disappointed and that hopefully no other customers would have to have the same thing happen to them. The woman immediately started arguing with my husband about our experience. There was no apology whatsoever and she refused to let us talk to someone higher up when we asked. I will never eat there again and I will tell others not to eat here either. The food tasted okay, but the service experience we had fully ruined it. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time today. The outside of the building looks quite fancy, but when you go inside it resembles a diner. Prices were very reasonable at lunch time and the server was very nice and attentive. Chicken lo mein, bbq pork, and sesame chicken was quite good. Fried rice was very bland however and reminded me of minute rice. The fried pork is quite tasty, but the sweet and sour sauce was a not so sweet pineapple sauce. Overall, pretty good lunch. Tried Ping's Garden for the first time this evening. We were very pleased with our experience! Our meals were exceptionally tasty, portion sizes generous, speed of service very fast, and our waitress, Suzette, was as nice as could be, really making it all a very positive experience. And, the final bill was also very reasonable, very good value. The atmosphere is a little on the plain side, but as we were there to visit with a friend, we appreciated that it was quiet, no loud background music, and it made for a nice place to visit while we ate. Altogether, a very positive dining experience and for us easily gets the full 5 stars. read more

We have been going to Ping's almost forever. The food has become bland in the last couple of years. No longer tastes fresh as it once did. Tonight ordered potstickers and special lo Mein to go. It was still warm when we arrived home but it was awful tasting. Our lo Mein was not lo Mein but something indescribable. Veggies, white sauce with a layer of burnt noodles on top (I'm not kidding). Why would anyone serve burnt anything to a paying customer ? I can't help but wonder if this place has changed hands. read more

If you are starving, require giant portions, and don't mind bland food then Ping's will be fine. It isn't like Albany has a lot of options. The service is fine and food comes fast. The bbq pork was really the only edible thing. I ordered a combination platter and each serving of each item was enough to feed 2 people so I had a plate big enough for 6. I am serious. The almond chicken chow mein consists mostly of celery, lots of celery. LOTS of celery. There was hardly any chicken and almonds. Ping's Garden really surprised me. I have eaten Chinese food from San Francisco to Hong Kong, of all shapes and sizes, but I was not expecting the high quality of both flavor and freshness that I found at Ping's. We started with the steamed char siu baos, amazing! Then we ordered Happy Family, a wonderful blending of fresh veggies and meats. The sauce was not overwhelming, nor were the veggies overcooked, as though the dish was prepared fresh, just for us. We then had Pea Pod Chicken and again, very fresh snow peas were used, not overcooked at all, in a very light sauce. Ping's is 5 minutes off Hwy. 5, near the town of Albany, in Oregon, and well worth the detour if you are anywhere near Eugene, Oregon. I really envy the folks that live in the area, as they can visit Ping's anytime. read more

Absolutely horrible food. The fried rice tastes awful and smelled like canned dog food. We also had the cashew nut chicken, orange chicken, and fried shrimp. Everything was just terrible. Terrible flavors, quality, and the meat was chewy. When we mentioned our dislike to the waitress she shrugged and said there was nothing she could do. Terrible service, terrible food. The dumplings were not good. The dough was way too thick and red sauce is not appropriate for dumpings. The pork fried rice was the consistency of bulgar wheat and didn't taste like pork fried rice at all. The low mein was passable, but not that great. The noodles were really gummy. I'm beginning to think that American Chinese food is like pizza. Everyone has different expectations and different tastes. I just enjoy it all for what it is. I've had sweet and sour sauce i like better, but Ping's isn't bad and i particularly like the pork, chicken shrimp combo. I rate the pork fried rice as pretty good. I generally steer clear of chow mein. But their extra special house chow mein with pan fried noodles is quite tasty. read more

So much leftover Chinese food - huge portions, but it was delicious :) Vegetables were fresh, which is always a good start, sweet and sour pork had generous sized pieces and a delicious style of sweet and sour sauce, tasted like they used orange juice instead of the usual artificial bright red version :) fried rice was tender and flavorful, not the bland dry rice some places serve. We also got a "small" war wonton soup (which was giant, enough for two meals easily, with lots of veggies, meats and a yummy broth) and the tidbits tray, thinking it'd be a small sampling...nope, enough for 4 people to share...including the shrimp egg roll which was giant, true to the rest of the portions here, but had celery, so this was the only "eh" of the whole order for us, only because we don't like celery :) Semi casual dining, relaxed but clean, we're set for another 2-3 meals now, but it was a good find :) read more

We tried to eat there yesterday but never again. This place used to be Tops On My List. It was busy but mostly with To Go orders. We waited 15 minutes for a seat another 15 minutes before we were handed a menu. when we decided (which was fast, we were starved) it was another 10 minutes to take our order We are seniors and must eat due to medications. I asked the gal politely How long after we place our order can we get served "She had no smile, just blurted out, it can take 30 to 45 minutes, as you can see we are busy" sarcastic voice. Soooooo we got up and left I saw another table do the same. Rude help, long waits and just so so food will someday bite you in the you know where Pings...
