I usually go for the succulent pork ribs which were always succulent, but apparently were taken off the menu because "not enough people were ordering them." Personally, I think management just wanted to tweak the menu to make it simpler and more profitable. Pinstripes gets traction for its upstairs bowling alley, large bar with plenty of seating, ambience, front patio dining, several windowed private rooms for birthdays and wedding receptions, and consistently excellent server staff. As my number of tree trunk rings increase, my appetite for buffets continue to decline. It's been a while since I've done a buffet with a hot pot place being my likely last destination. My friend's celebrated their son's college graduation, YAY Matty!, on a Sunday late morning. The two people who waited on our table were friendly and efficient in removing empty plates and refilling the water flasks. I made a cup of tea at the drink station with the provided teabags and hot water. The food stations were kept neatly and empty trays were quickly refilled while the fellow diners were equally courteous and polite. When I got home, I was curious about the cost of our meal and learned it is reasonably priced at $38.00 per adult and $19.00 for children which becomes free for kids Sundays. Bowling and fine dining all in one place - no better way to host a celebration or large gathering to have bellies full of food and laughter! We came in to celebrate a birthday and had a pleasant time. The facilities were clean, well kept, and conducive to a fun and lively environment. The food was delicious and plated with great care. The prices are a bit higher than what we have been used to but it's fair relative to the peninsula. Located in the high traffic Hillsdale Mall, Pinstripes is easily accessible from the parking lot being one of the first establishments you'll find as you round the corner after parking your car. As we had made reservations ahead of time for both bowling and dinner, we just checked in at the front and the staff got us situated. There wasn't much of a waiting area as they got our lane set up so we just hung around one of the open tables near the bar. When it was our turn, we followed the staff member upstairs to the alleys. We first picked up shoes and complimentary socks. We were then ushered to our lane, offered waters and told that we could get started. As a first timer, it was unclear how to get started but we got it after fumbling with the kiosk a bit. We were able to add players to the game, take face pictures, add bumper configurations, and customize player names. It would have been nice to get an orientation before our time started. When our time was up, we didn't have a whole lot of time to gather our things before we were told the lane needed to be cleared for the next party. The staff directing us to move wasn't the most cheery, although I understand that it's all in the business to churn customers. I think setting expectations upfront regarding onboarding, during active play, and off boarding would have made the experience a lot better. The alleys themselves were nice. Balls of different weights were available in each lane, bumpers were easy to enable for each player and would automatically engage when it was the user's turn, food can be ordered at the table (assuming you flag one of the staff members), and seats and tables were relatively clean (there was food on the floor and the table was wiped down just before us sitting). The flooring was well maintained as well, however some of the balls don't seem as round as they should be. There is a collaboration with OpenLane so download it to track your scores. For those looking to get more games in between meals, they have bocce ball courts upstairs and downstairs. Typically you would have to make reservations for them but since the kids just wanted to see it briefly, we didn't bother. For dinner service, we headed back downstairs to the front desk to check in, yet again. After checking in, they seated us at a booth near the kitchen. We were offered waters and given menus to peruse. They have kids menus for smaller portions, but we found that the family style meal options were a lot more economical. Their menu is extensive with appetizers, soups, salads, pastas, and meat/seafood. We took a bit of time to decide but the holiday discount and daily specials they have definitely had an impact. We ended up ordering a variety of items for the table and they were all delicious and presented beautifully. Tenderloin Sliders - available as 3 or 6, these tender cuts of meat-stacked sliders are delicious and the potato strings add a nice crunch if you decide to add them in with each bite. Great for sharing and worth the price! Pigs in blankets - little morsels served with delicious mustard and ketchup are popular items for kids. These would go well with a pint of beer but I would skip these otherwise. Lobster Mac and Cheese - this motherload of a mac and cheese dish is loaded with lobster meat. The balance of creaminess from the cheese and chewy bites from the lobster makes it fun to eat. Great flavor, fan favorite, and good price! Chicken and Goat Cheese - my personal favorite of the family style pastas is loaded with big pieces of chicken breast that pair well with the creamy goat cheese. The fusilli pasta soak up the flavors well and add more texture to each bite. Surprisingly filling! Since we came in to celebrate a birthday, we were also given a complimentary sundae. It was a great cap to a nice dinner service. Overall, Pinstripes does what it does best and that is bowling with fine dining on the side. Due to larger profit margins, I do see more of an emphasis on the restaurant side of the business but they do a fantastic job maintaining a play space for parties, casual gatherings, and corporate events. There's no doubt we will be back but we may be more cognizant of any specials they may be offering as the price point is above average. We reserved 2 lanes for our party and one of the lanes broke down 3x within the 2 hours we were there. Manager was not so helpful resetting our lane either. He was not very happy when he assisted us. A female server/potential manager assisted us later on. She moved us to a new lane, gave us 1 hour bowling, and said she was going to give us a discount on our meal but that never happened. They gave us a check before we asked for it. We had a membership card that we wanted to use to for discount. We frequent Pinstripes for the neighborhood ease of walking and great ambiance. The courtyard is full of decorative seasonal lights and just really gets the spirit. Last night for a quick nibble we sat at the bar with our Old Fashion and super tender beef sliders in a slightly sweet dipping sauce. Three to a plate with shoe string potatoes. Since they took off the fig ham flatbread (I'm still grieving) we tried the lobster. It was so delicious from the oven with a hit of chili flecks that were a bit too hot. Once the cheese cooled off it really affected the flavor and became less appetizing. The service was timely and quick but as frequently we dine there they served seemed overwhelmed and they are backing up as you place your order to get to the next. We felt as if we just had this one chance to get it all out knowing we wouldn't see her again. Busy time of year yes but this is year around. The bar has a hard time serving the whole restaurant demands for its size and number of people it can accommodate. They had the front door open again (48 deg last night) and the cold wind blew on us the whole evening. Chilly indeed. Overall was a good experience as the good food and cocktails keep us going back. I came here with my friends this past weekend and we had reservations for bowling for a party of 8. The hostess told us we needed to pay for 2 lanes because the lanes are only good for 6 guests (keep this in mind for later) so okay fine whatever we paid for two lanes and they brought us upstairs to the bowling alley. We sat down and immediately one of the servers approached us and said that 1 of the 2 lanes is under maintenance and that they would refund half the lane and add as much time to our 1 lane as possible. We said that it was fine & he proceeded to give us a refund. This is where I have an issue with Pinstripes. The hostess told us we NEEDED two lanes because one lane is only good for 6 guests but clearly the server said we were able to have 8 guests to the lane so this just feels very deceiving coming from the hostess. I would've been okay if she said we RECOMMEND two lanes because we had a larger party but that's not what she said. And not to mention that there were other larger parties around us with more than 6 people to a lane. The website never indicated that only a certain number of guests were allowed to a lane, it just says reservations for parties if 1 to 19. Our lane also kept breaking down but no one was around for us to ask for assistance. I actually had to leave the bowling area to look around for help. Now let's move onto the food and drinks, the food was fine and didn't really stand out and nothing to write home about. We ordered a few drinks and almost all of the drinks came out way too sweet and super watered down. I literally tasted 0 alcohol in my drink and for $16-$18 a drink this was NOT it. Stopped by Pinstripes for happy hour and tried a mix of drinks and shareables. Overall, it was fine, but nothing really stood out enough to wow us. The Paloma was refreshing and easy to drink, but it leaned a bit on the sweeter side and lacked that strong grapefruit punch I usually look for. Not bad, just average. For food, the Philly fries were filling and indulgent with plenty of toppings, but they felt heavy and a little messy. Good for sharing, though not something I'd crave again. The signature wings were solid with decent flavor, but they didn't really stand out compared to other places with better sauces or crispier texture. The Brussels sprouts were probably my favorite item. Nicely roasted with good flavor, but even those weren't anything exceptional. Happy hour pricing is fair, the space is nice, and it's a good spot to hang out with friends, but the food and drinks felt more "safe" than exciting. It was pretty chilly sitting outside; heat lamps are placed outside by the tables. I don't remember what our friends got for their entrees, but here's what I did document: - Calamari (for the table) - Spicy crispy chicken sandwich (mine) - Baked lasagna (his) I'd say that the food was pretty average compared to the service which was actually way better. The chicken was a bit dry and Zach said that the lasagna tasted basic and somewhat bland. The calamari was okay too and was more breading than octopus. Our waiter checked on us every so often and made sure we weren't getting too cold. Even the manager of Pinstripes came by to say hello which we don't see often when we go out. My friend had mentioned that it was my birthday coming up so they gave me a Pinstripes hat and medal. Pinstripes is a great way to spend a couple of hours with friends and/or family. They are incredibly kid friendly. We went with 2 toddlers and they loved being able to participate with the bowling assist and bumpers. The food is pretty good. I would choose beer over cocktails. I believe they have bumped up the rates by $20 per lane/hour since last year. Costco gift cards help. They also have some deals on Tuesday. Our waiter, Kevin, was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our brunch. Luis was our server and he was very attentive. He kindly reminded us of what came with our son's kids menu (didn't realize it had both drink and dessert!) Don't order the lobster pizza or the Italian jambalaya but do order the short ribs. I like the restaurant it has a nice modern vibe and food is decent except some of their food name is very misleading. The lobster pizza has absolutely no lobster meat I canfind unless you count the miniscule possibly micro pieces of claw meat? It's mostly shrimp pizza and I don't think it tastes good even though I'm a big lobster and shrimp fan. The jambalaya is a mess and the big fish pieces are dry and tasteless. There is no jambalaya taste in it at all. Name it something else. I can't stand them calling such tasteless concoction jambalaya because it's one of my favorite food and this is definitely not it. The short ribs is actually amazing. Very moist and delicious and I highly recommend that you order the full rack because it will go fast. The kids meals are a great deal at $12. Updating my review to five stars. After hearing about our experience, Pinstripes went out of their way to incorporate my feedback. We went back for a birthday celebration and Pablo, Alfredo, and the rest of the staff were so attentive and kind and just all around so fun! The food was also noticeably better. The meats were much more tender. The salmon dishes were delectable as was the ice cream bowl Alfredo surprised us with. The staple goat cheese pasta was also a must try. Got there a little early and they explained that our table would be ready in about 15 min as they were waiting for their servers to come in, that's fine. It was quite busy with private events and I noticed it was Two for Tuesday-basically get two of the same item for the price of one (sounds like a great deal). Our server was Elizabeth and she was very nice, helpful and attentive. While we ate we kept laughing about how the lights kept dimming down then getting brighter at times. Maybe someone was just trying to get the right lighting and the music was "club" like, but no complaints there. Our table ordered the chicken wings and pigs in a blanket for starters, entrees included a burger, and two orders of the filet mignon plate medium rare. Funny thing is we saw on our table ticket notes "negative feedback" which is true, we did provide comments before. Well we literally got our main entrees before the apps, which is kind of strange. You'd think they would get the cadence by now and know the timing of food. What would Gordon Ramsey say...! We got our entrees the table next to us who ordered around the same time did not even have their apps. Our server apologized and said the chicken wings take a little while to make, ok but still doesn't mean your entrees come out was before apps. About 5-10 min later our apps arrived. Service was better but for sure you can tell they were still under staffed. The table next to us got their apps when ours arrived. We had dessert - Brownie with ice cream (good) and the celebration sundae which could have been more celebratory...basically 2 pretzel rods stuck into 2 scoops of ice cream and chocolate syrup on the side. Once you the pretzels broken up and mixed in it was better. The experience this time around was better except for the entrees before apps issue. Service from Elizabeth was good, and we will probably be back with a group but I wish they would bring back the ribeye and the burrata on the chop salad. read more

Pro: the food and service were yummy and they had lots of vegetarian options and outdoor seating. Con: My super salad entree wasn't filling, and at $14 it ought to be. There wasn't a vegetarian add-on like tofu for it either. read more

This review is for lunch in early Aug 2024 and dinner in late Sept 2024. The food was great on the first visit but I had an issue that I brought to the attention of management. So I gave the place another try, which is why this review is for two separate visits. Menu is broken up into sections (salads/soups/sandwiches/flatbread for which you can do combo), along with pastas, chefs specials, etc. (Weekend is an all you can eat brunch.) Food is great. Ten stars out of five stars for the super salad, which I ordered on both of my visits. The candied pecans, blue berries, raspberries, humboldt fog goat cheese, grains, figs, veggie chips, avocado, grains on spinach with honey red wine vinegarette was amazing---and I did not even add a protein on purpose (despite being a big meat eater). I would love to replicate this at home. Even my parents loved this salad, and they are picky eaters. We also shared the full rack of baby back ribs--which were nice and meaty, tender, full of flavor, and finger lickin' good. They came with BBQ sauce on (which I liked), and cut up in three portions of about 3 ribs in stack. It came with parmesean fries and a few slices of pickles. We also received a bowl for the rib bones, along with an extra napkin and lemon wedge for our fingers. We had the ribeye, which was tender too (but the baby back ribs were better). The three cheese polenta tasted like mashed potatoes with some corn (was okay) but needed something else, and I liked the crispy crust. The stalks on the asparagus were too thin so the ends were stringy to eat. The restaurant is beautiful and two stories. Upstairs -- lots of stairs -- has more dining area and a larger bathroom whereas the downstairs only had one bathroom (one person/one room). It has a bocci ball area next to the restroom which is across from the open kitchen area where you can see a pizza oven and lots of staff working behind the counters. A bar is located near the front of the restaurant which has lots of seating. You can sit outside on the patio area which has a larger play area for kids and is nice to hang out. Located in the Hillsdale mall, the place is on the corner very visible. We had great service tonight. Our server checked on us regularly, brought us another bottle of water when we were low, and let us know that anyone in purple shirt could help out if they were busy. I would recommend for food, atmosphere, and service. I would visit here again next time I am in town. read more

This was quite the experience...and not in a good way. I am not sure if this place is about to shut down but it sure seemed like it. The only good thing is that we got a good laugh out of it but I don't think I will ever come back. Food was tasty, everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. I had the Caesar salad with salmon. The salad was fresh, dressing was flavorful, and salmon was cooked well. My husband had a burger that was just okay. Fries were tasty. The biggest problem was the service and the management. Our table had 4 bottles of water and zero glasses for 8 people. Our waiter never noticed so eventually we had to grab glasses from two nearby tables. When we told her she just shrugged and said "ok that's fine". Next we tried to order drinks and were told they were out of multiple things, including all blanco tequilas (???) and all mezcals. They said they were switching menus but it seemed like they were emptying inventory in preparation of closing down. Our waiter seemed to be serving at least half the restaurant and yet there were 4 different people running food, which was weird. They would bring dishes to the wrong side of the table and make us pass the plates down..which is fine, but just not great service. They also forgot one of our kids' cheese pizzas, didn't have enough kids menus, and didn't bring enough bread for the two kids at our table. My sister in law received her dinner before my father in law received his drink, and my 5 year old nephew had to wait until the table was nearly finished with their meals before he got his pizza. It is a miracle he didn't have a meltdown. Overall it was just a very odd dinner, our waiter was nice and seemed to be trying hard but was fighting an uphill battle in a mismanaged restaurant. Even though the food was good and my drink, when it eventually came, was good too, I would not come back here and I would not recommend this place. read more
