This is the nicest hardware store Ive been in. Granted, it's in Beverly Hills so it better be nice. It's kinda the opposite of a Home Depot. It's densely packed with products, the selection per square foot of display space is very high and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Additionally, they are accessible and easy to find in the store. This place reminds me of the way retail stores used to be many decades ago when service was paramount. Prices seem high but I expect they are completely in line with the neighborhood. Parking is abundant in the structure behind and I wasn't charged anything. Lastly, this place has a lot more stuff than you would expect a hardware store to have and seems to be focused on home goods and home repairs more than new construction. Anyway, 5 stars from me.

Pioneer Hardware is located on North Crescent Drive and Dayton Way. It's a small hardware store that's been here for over 3 decades. First will point out this store is not comparable to the bigger hardware store institutions in terms of products available. For basic items such as light bulbs, key duplicates, household items it's a great store. The customer service from the main guys who have been here over 25 years is commendable. I have purchased portable heaters and replaced knob handles, and the guys have been super professional and helpful. Priced a tad higher than goods from other vendors but service makes up for it. Unfortunately I cannot say the same glowing review for the females in this store, all have been uncordial, unprofessional, negative attitude and unhelpful...would merit a zero star. I like this store, for the useful items and some of the kitschy items they sell always amuses me and the recipient I gift it to. Also, like the free 1 hour parking in the structure behind the store and this location is so convenient for me. Today, I came in search of an air filter/humidifier to help my allergies due to the ongoing fires in the valley. Unfortunately, they have run out. I will have to order it on Amazon and request same day delivery ASAP. Pioneer offers same day delivery as well, and despite them being 2 blocks away from me at the Montage, its a lifesaver and timesaver service that earns my 5 stars.

I love this mom and pop hardware store. It's the oldest family owned business in Beverly Hills (founded in 1925). This is a small and quaint well-stocked hardware store that serves the needs of the community and is customer service oriented. You will always find someone to assist you. They are very friendly, knowledgable and helpful. It's great for all your home needs. They also make keys! You can get a discount for paying with cash. Park in the free parking garage in the structure behind the store. There's also metered parking in front. It is walking distance from the post office, a bakery, and a market.

This sells for $2.87 at Target.

The staff working the aisles always ask if they can help, usually have the best suggestions and steer me towards the right products. Today I just wanted to buy a sheet of sandpaper that was marked as $1.79 and it rang up for $2.50 at the register, so I told the cashier wearing a surgical mask that's it's marked $1.79 on the aisle and she says "I'm just going by what the bar code reads". So I went back and checked, told her again that it was marked $1.79 so she marched back with me and I apologized to her that she had to walk back, but it was indeed only $1.79 ...she goes "well, you must be desperate!" and I said "Why am I desperate? For 80 cents?" :D Have to laugh I'm not that cheap or desperate, but just like to pay what the price is marked on the item out of principle. A note: Under California Business and Professions Code Section 12024.2, it is illegal for a business to charge a price greater than what is advertised, marked on a shelf tag, or posted on the commodity itself.

I usually prefer sitting at the bar because the service tends to be better, but this time I came with a few friends so we grabbed a table. Our first interaction was a little off putting. As soon as we arrived, the host made it a point to tell us there was a strict 1.5 hour limit on the table, and the delivery was pretty stern. I completely understand restaurants having time limits, especially when they're busy, but the energy felt a little unwelcoming right from the start. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but it definitely wasn't the warmest welcome. That aside, I love the ambiance here, especially the outdoor area. The food is consistently solid. I absolutely love the shrimp scampi pasta, hamachi, and truffle fries, seriously some of the best truffle fries around. We tried the new pesto pizza this time and it was delicious! The short rib pasta was also a hit with lots of flavor. I enjoy pretty much all of their salads too and usually add chicken or shrimp. Unfortunately, the branzino was a miss. It was overcooked and had almost zero flavor, so we ended up sending it back. Our server was good overall, but service here typically moves pretty slowly and they sometimes seem understaffed. Water refills can take forever, and somehow the sparkling water bottles are always warm lol. It's also a little ironic being reminded so sternly about a 1.5 hour table limit when the service itself tends to move at a slower pace. Other than those little things, Laurel Hardware is still such a great spot. Good food, great outdoor ambiance, and an easy choice when you want dinner somewhere with a fun LA vibe. I'll definitely keep coming back.

Two stars instead of one, because the manager on duty said they were going to talk to the main manager tomorrow. I was simply trying to get a couple pieces of wood cut and immediately was met with a miller who did everything from our first encounter to let me know he didn't want to help me. He refused to make any eye contact or even look at the information I had written down regarding the cuts I needed. I asked him his name, and when he answered, he even begged me to go complain to the manager, said he would even do it himself! ("what's happening!" I kept wondering." almost laughable, twilight-zonish.) He proceeded to get the order wrong, something I caught when I was prepaying for the cuts inside the store. Once I returned to him he (Jeremy) belligerently blamed me for his error, did his best to exude snarkiness, and seemed as though he was finally going to get the confrontation he seemed to want from the beginning. All very odd since I wasn't going to get into some kind of personal squabble with him. There are other details which could make this truly disturbing but I'll leave it at this and hope the managers at Anawalt Lumber, a place I've been going to for more than 30 years (without this kind of incident) respond appropriately and show it really cares about its customers. If not, I'll take my business to another Anawalt: I've found the one at Sepulveda and Pico to be pretty courteous and friendly.

We didn't know how much they cost and my friend is too nice so she just paid. It was EIGHTY DOLLARS for a 4ft ladder. That didn't seem right. That's literally double the price of everywhere else. We did some quick research and realized that Emil is PRICE GOUGING. So 10 mins later we asked if they do same-day returns. Here's the deal.. it's one thing that this happened, but his attitude is the thing that was beyond unacceptable. He conceded that the cashier should've told us, and that they're supposed to say no returns or exchanges on ladders. But even a half-assed "sorry" in there would've done it. No, his response was literally "I WASN'T BORN YESTERDAY PEOPLE USE THEM AND RETURN THEM ALL THE TIME." Please explain to me sir how I could've used a ladder that is STILL in its original packaging??? You think I would risk breaking my neck for a return at your shitty garage store? We weren't even trying to argue to still be able to return it, just letting him know that they should say that at check out and he just kept yelling over us. Beyond unacceptable. We just moved to the area and go to hardware stores all the time. We were looking to support a small local business and loyally (and we had already bought things here before).. but now that I see how they really operate, no wonder they go out of business all the time against the big names. If that ever happens to Emil, he earned it. You don't treat people like this and then yell & talk over them just cause they're women. Thievery & price gouging like this is one thing but the arrogance on top is beyond. Thankful I didn't grab anything else here cause I literally had it in my hand and was gonna come back for it. Never again. (Photo for proof ladder was never used). Jerk.
