Mushroom ravioli with pink sauce and steak.

I came here with my family of 5 and we all had a good time. The food came out quickly, the server was sweet and patient, the restaurants atmosphere was calm and a vibe with the moody lights and colorful accents. I got the mushroom ravioli dish with pink sauce and steak (this was fantastic! Highly recommend) we also got the garlic knots for the table and those were yummy but not a must order. This place is great for a yummy dinner with a nice dinning experience, but bring a coat because the restaurant was very cold.

The buñuelos de yautía were the best dish we ate tonight, though the breaded eggplant was delicious as well. The pizza rosada was good but needed more vodka sauce on it. The main issue was that the restaurant looks closed (the first floor and main entrance are always closed, lights off, padlocked with no sign). You have to walk around the side and go in a sketchy entrance that has bouncers. It's very odd.

Delicious size large arugula salad (not very big though). A couple bites eaten.

Our experience here was just okay. We arrived around 7pm with no reservation and were told it would be a 1-1.5 hour wait, and every other restaurant around the area was the same wait time, so we waited. We got seated around 8:40pm. Not their fault it was a very busy night. The hostess managing reservations and the waitlist is SO sweet and patient. We asked for tap waters and was told their tap situation was currently "sketchy" so we ordered 2 bottled waters which ended up being $2 each. Our waiter didn't ever come back for our food order, and around 30 minutes later the sweet girl who sat us saw that we were still waiting, and she took our order. The inside is very cute so we enjoyed the ambiance around us. The arugula salad came out around 15 minutes later, and we absolutely scarfed it down because we were starving. It was absolutely delicious but not very big despite ordering the large. We did a half and half Grande pizza - the PIRILO (Homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, ground beef, & ripe sweet plantains) and the pizza highly recommended by the gal taking our order - LA PAMPA (Homemade tomato sauce, mozzarella, Argentinian sausage, & skirt steak. Topped with chimichurri sauce.) Despite the pizza *looking* flavorful and delicious, somehow it tasted like nothing....I don't know if they just don't season their meats, but in a town full of beautifully marinated meats, these pizzas had absolutely no flavor. La Pampa was much better because the chimichurri seasoning gave it a bit of a salty taste, but the only thing at all I could taste on the Pirilo was the sweetness from the plantains in a couple bites. The cheese had no saltiness, the meat had no flavor, it was very confusing. I asked for the jarred parmesan and red pepper flakes I saw on some other tables, and the red pepper flakes were the only thing that gave the slices flavor. Maybe the other main dishes are better and the salad was certainly delicious, but I wouldn't recommend the pizza at all.

Authentic Italian Gem in the Heart of Old San Juan We visited the Old San Juan location -- rustic, cozy vibe with amazing service. We started off with some local beer and Pinacolada. For appetizer , we got the spinach empanadas which came with a delicious cilantro sauce For main course, we ordered gnocchi in a creamy pesto. This gnocchi was hands down the best we've ever had! That sauce, ahhh!!! Also loved the personal pizza (Margherita + Basilica). Definitely a good spot for vegetarians. Can't wait to go back for gnocchi before we leave Puerto Rico. Large selection of wine, beer and other cocktails. Parking is difficult. Also, not sure if there is dining area downstairs as well since we were seated upstairs so not wheelchair friendly.

I've been coming here for a few years now when I cruise out of PR and the pizza is amazingly good. I also get the chicken lasagna. This time the lasagna was a little too cheesy for my liking. Gabby the bartender was awesome. Such a good bartender. It's always busy so keep that in mind. I'll be back. Location is in the center of old San Juan. Keep in mind that it gets busy starting around 7pm.

We LOVE this place, great pizza and tapas. The pizzas are 10/10, we tried the rosada and the pecado, wow! The drinks are also 10/10, the sangria, one of the best! The mojito (acerola) a bit sweet but good. The tapa, very small for the price, but they are tapas. We tries the humus, only comes with 5 chips not enough for all the humus, we got order and pay for extra chips (so good) but still not enough, so i'll skip the tapas if u sharing, don't seem worth it in my opinion unless u willing to over pay. Staff were super friendly, just not attentive at all, we didn't see our waitress from when we order until we had to pay, but we call other staff when we needed stuff and they all were quick to help and super friendly. We will for sure come again when visiting.

Don't be put off by the dingy staircase entrance -- it's not the most inviting first impression, but once you reach the top, you'll find a charming little pizza restaurant that's definitely worth the climb. We had about a 30-minute wait for a table. The staff mentioned they'd call us when our table was ready, but we ended up checking back in after a short walk and were seated upstairs. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out in good time. We started with the arugula salad with balsamic dressing -- fresh, well-balanced, and delicious. For mains, we ordered the chicken lasagna and a 16-inch pizza. The lasagna was delicious! Super cheesy! The great thing about their pizzas is that you can do half-and-half, so we went with pepperoni on one side and margherita on the other. My husband loved how cheesy the pizza was. I personally thought it could've used a touch more salt, but the flavors were still solid. Overall, it's a great little spot for a casual date night -- cozy atmosphere, good service, and tasty food. Don't judge this one by the entrance!

To get to the restaurant you walk up the stairs into a beautiful, romantic space. The service was really quick, we sat, ordered, and ate all in 40 minutes total. The food was delicious and we are so happy we got what we ordered. The churrasco was very flavorful and the rice was so delicious I couldn't eaten another plate! The pizza was fresh and light, packed with good flavor.

Pirilo was recommended by some friends and it was well worth the 40min wait. Staff was friendly and host were attentive. If you aren't paying attention you'll walk right by the entrance. The restaurant decor is warm and welcoming and the noise level was comfortable enough to have a conversation at the table and not feel like we were yelling. As for the food we order Garlic knots to start... DELISH!!!! Now being from NY the standard for pizza is high. Let's just say Pirilo will satisfy any pizza lover. The flavor selections were great. We got the Pecado (Meat-lovers) which was delicious great selection of meats. The second pizza was the Vegetales and it was just as good had plenty for leftovers. Huge selection of beers on tap and the cocktails were good as well. From la Mamma (Mojito) and the Margarepa (Margarita) both delicious with their own twist on each as seen in the names. If you're in old San Juan this is a spot you must try in your travels.

Sometimes you find a hidden gem in odd places, for me this would be one of them. What a quaint little hole in the wall wonder this place was. We ordered the Ravioli appetizers, which are stuffed with butternut squash toasted and then topped with goat cheese and pesto oh so yummy. And then came the 7 queso pizza, who would have thought meunster on a pizza would work. The food, and service was top notch and beyond what we expected. I highly recommend this place for pizza. read more

This place was very busy, so we sat downstairs across from the bar. It's a teeny ledge to eat on, but we made do. It was very lively, but not too loud. The service was slow but the drinks were very good. We had the Pampa and it was really delicious. I will go back again when not so busy, so we can sit down at s table. read more

Best pizza around. Genuine brickoven pizza and high quality ingredients. Quality of service is as random as you can get. You might get the friendly wsiter or the spaced out jerk. Wednesday might be tricky as cruises dock in sonthe average wait may be anything from 20 to 45 minutes. read more

One of our best dining experiences for lunch in San Juan. Just had a really pleasant vibe and very friendly service. The Churrassco steak is really phenomenal. Really nice and cool upstairs and very creatively decorated. Well done Pirilo! read more

Just ate at the Dorado restaurant, it just opened very recently. They do not even have their yelp set up yet, so I'll have to post my complaint here. Parking was Valet only, so that's $5.00 from the start. The wait to get in was about 20 minutes, so that actually was not too bad. But after we were seated the waiter brought my husband a flat Sprite, after mentioning that the soda was flat, he immediately tells us that the Sprite was out of Oder. Uh..... So he knew he was serving us a defective beverage! ! ! But wait, there's more... We then ordered two large pizzas and two lasagnas and we sat back and waited... our two children, and one baby, kept their composure as we enjoyed the nice ambience of the restaurant while we waited. (This place really was well decorated.) but we waited and waited.... now, I am a nursing mother of a baby boy and the wait drained me entirely. We watched a party of three come in and sit near us well after we ordered our food. those very neighbors ordered their food and were served soon after... We kept waiting.... We waited well past 45 minutes and that's when our kids lost it. One fell asleep on the chair, the other went hysterical because she was hungry, and tired, and uncomfortable, and the baby stared to cry uncontrollably because it was about the time to start feeding him again... So finally after about an hour and 15 minutes our food came in. Ok, side note, trying to eat with our kids at that state was a complete torture!!! I was so famished! I NEEDED to get food in me asap so that I could then feed my son. The food was mediocre at best, it was definitely NOT worth the wait! If it had not taken them so long to serve us, I would have probably sent back the lasagna and ordered something else. The pizza was also not the greatest thing either, trust me when I say you would be much better off going to any other restaurant on that street then this one. It is NOT worth it! read more

My husband and I stumbled upon this place after a day of walking and eating and drinking and walking and eating and drinking in Old San Juan. It was such an unexpected gem of a bar and restaurant. The decor is eclectic and interesting. The beer selection is amazing. The bartender (Natasha!) was amazing. It was the best pizza we had in Puerto Rico, which isn't say too much since most of the other pizza we had was god-awful. But it's definitely tasty. It's definitely worth checking out! We went back twice in one night! read more

One of our favorite places in San Juan while we were there. Great pizza, especially the Tampiquena,with roast pork and pico de gallo as well as homemade tomato sauce and perfect wood fired crust. Also nice selection of beers on tap as well as refrigerator with artisan beers from around the world in their beer fridge (Sam Smith, Trappistes, Duval, many I haven't heard of...) Really nice servers, great atmosphere. Was the only place we ate at during our week in San Juan that we went back to twice. read more

While celebrating a friend's birthday in Puerto Rico four ladies (myself included) wondered down Old San Juan late night looking for something to eat. We stumbled upon a few bars and restaurants but most of them were closed... Fortunately for us this one restaurant manager mentioned Pirilo and off we went. The place was cozy, nicely lit and buzzing with ambiance. We ordered a large pie of half la pampa & half a meaty pizza but I can only speak for la pampa. I couldn't get enough! :) I was honestly shocked that I would fine great pizza in PR. I was on cloud nine and we paired our meal with an great red Rioja Ontanon Crianza 2008. We also had lazitos and empanadas and I can't tell you how awesome they were because words won't do them justice. The night was wonderful and we all left with smiles on our faces! read more

We were looking for a place to eat in old town. We walked by this place and saw the line. They said 45 minute wait so we thought it must be good. What a treat! We sat at the bar and enjoyed pizza with spinach, vodka sauce and arugula. Also, pollo Milanese. It was all great with a fun atmosphere. The bar tender was great. A must in old town. read more

The empanadas are the BEST I have had, anywhere. Morsel made in heaven. Must be the monchego and cream cheese combination. The pizza was good but good pizza is dime a dozen. I wish I just ordered more of the Empanalittas!!!! Will dream of it when I get back to reality. read more

Yum-O! Cute, little, quaint restaurant in Old San Juan. I ordered calamari, which was delicious. Their spinach and onion empanadillas were yummy. My pizza was very cheesy (real cheese!) and huge (even when it was a personal pizza). No one in our group could finish their personal pizza (4 slices). A place I would revisit if I go back to Old San Juan. read more

Good place for pizza in PR. We had the sampler as an appetizer which had fried cheese, yuka chips, fried red beans and rice croquet! Bangin! I had the thin crust pizza with half rucola and half sausage. Oishii! Lastly, they had a deep beer menu. Go here if you are in the mood for pizza. read more

Probably the best pizza I've had in my life and I'm a pizza lover. A great fusion of Italian and Puerto Rican food. La pampa was so good. Argentinian steak and chimichurri sauce. Very good pizza. I judge pizza very harshly so a perfect 5 is limited to a few places (Buddy's in the Detroit area & Una Pizza Napoletano in San Francisco, but this was very very good. They have a variety of toppings & options. It is vegetarian friendly. Seating is casual. Service is good & relatively fast. read more

The food here was very good. We ordered off the tapas menu, and got plenty of food for two people for around $25.00. A Mediterranean restaurant with a Caribbean twist, I recommend this to anyone who has been in San Juan for 4+ days and has only eaten Puerto Rican food during their time on the island. This place is also very quick, so a perfect stop if you are walking around in Old San Juan. read more

If you only have a few nights in San Juan don't waste your time visiting here. It's freezing cold in the restaurant and it smells badly. The pizza is very greasy. The pepperoni was tolerable but I couldn't even eat the Hawaiian (not to mention I found a long hair on top). I wish I had t wasted my time. read more

This pizza was DELICIOUS! Our waiter, Miguel, remembered everything and did a fabulous job. You could get half and half on every pizza! They had awesome toppings like plantains and chimichurri steak. It was truly a GREAT dining experience 12/10 read more

They have a great variety of creative pizzas, from the meat lovers to the veggie lovers, pesto sauce, name it. But you also need to try their tapas. The stuffed mushrooms are awesome, as well as the chorizos, the empanadas.... everything is GREAT. It gets very busy so be prepare to wait, but is worth it. They also have a full bar and great beer selection. I dont usually get dessert because I'm stuffed but I've had tried them and most say they are also very good! read more

After just arriving, we came to old San Juan and decided to have Pirilo's the first evening. We had no idea of what to expect. First, the atmosphere is on the main floor. The upstairs lacks character, etc. So, if you have to wait and have the time, eat on the main floor. Second, the appetizers were great and the pizza was amazing. We enjoyed the Chorizo, seven cheeses, the margherita pizza and a cheese calzone. The Chorizo was the best of the four. We would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant! It was one of the experiences you'll share with others. read more

One of the best pizzerias in Puerto Rico and great selection of craft beer on tap. Always order the Pirilo fries that come with a cilantro sauce that is superb. The pizzas are all excellent. Love the Hawaiian and the Pesto. Excellent location in San Juan. It now has a second floor so the wait is a lot shorter than before but it also eats crowded. read more

Despite being brand new, she was warm, engaged, and genuinely welcoming, excited for us that we had made it back after several years, and impressed with our efforts. Shortly thereafter the bartender on duty approached us mid-conversation, visibly irritated. When I mentioned that we hadn't yet decided on drinks but were being well taken care of in the meantime, she interrupted sharply to bark at us that she was the bartender and the ONLY one who could help us. The tone was unwelcoming enough that after a moment, my companion and I determined that we would prefer to move on and left without ordering. The atmosphere is truly special, and it deserves to be matched by the experience guests receive at the bar. Our experience was simply not the vibe that night, and I truly was disappointed FOR the new hire who was doing what she should in engaging us until we could be served. I sincerely hope to return on a future visit to San Juan and to rediscover the experience that first brought me back to La Grieta.

While we were in Puerto Rico in 2024, we later discovered over $900 in unauthorized charges from this pizza restaurant on our credit card. Unfortunately, I didn't catch it immediately -- I only noticed it months later while reconciling expenses in QuickBooks during tax prep. By then, it was too late to dispute the charges with the credit card company. I am one person- I didn't eat $900 worth of pizza If you've been here and are reading this now, check your credit card statements carefully and dispute anything suspicious immediately. This experience cost us hundreds of dollars and a great deal of time and stress. I'm sharing screenshots below as proof, because people deserve to know what they may be risking. Pirilo is a must-see-eat-and-enjoy type restaurant. When traveling to new cities, we rely on the guidance of Yelp, and we were not led astray. The casual and inspiring ambiance, impeccable service, unique and delicious pies, locally made desserts, and numerous craft beers all coming at a valuable price, was an absolute treat on our journey. We were able to tour the newly renovated historic second floor, which offers a synchronistic feel to the ground level, yet with an interesting and inspiring twist giving an entirely different but incredible experience. This place is amazing! Gets very crowded but they handle it very well. The place is decorated beautiful and rustic and the food is always ALWAYS on point. The drinks are great, the place is always clean, and the employees are always happy and friendly. Went last Saturday the place was full but we were able to sit at the bar quickly. I give the place 3 stars because the pizza had no taste to it and the beers were warm.
