We have had pizza at three different spots while visiting Puerto Rico and this is hands down the best pizza we've had here. The waitresses were friendly and the food came out quick. During our week long visit to San Juan in February 2020, we visited Pirilio at least three times. It was conveniently located close to our home away from home at the Dreamcatcher and the pizza was too good not to return! The menu has tons of incredible, unique pizza options and they let you go half and half with any two pizza options. So of course, we took advantage of this to optimize the pizzas we could try during our short visit. A few of the many I remember trying include the Rosada, Pirilo, Carbonara and Tripleta. In addition to the pizzas, we tried an assortment of the appetizers. While I can't remember specifics, what I do remember is loving every single thing we ordered. This was some of the best pizza I've ever eaten! Absolutely delicious, the lasagna was also GREAT. We finished it all with no hesitation, the large is pretty big. The small pizza wasn't too bad in size, the Hawaiian pizza is the small pizza. This was a fantastic introduction to Puerto Rico! Now the pizza may seem a little pricey compared to pizza in the states. It's well worth it though! The specialty pizza was so good, I forgot the name. You can look at the ingredient list this one had some tender pieces of skirt steak. Skirt steak is very popular in Puerto Rico, so is RICE. The rice was delicious, to be honest I think I ate it before anyone could try it. The rice came as a side with the lasagna, maybe not a perfect pairing but it was good. We ordered 3 large pizzas a small and the lasagna we spent about $120 before tipping. Don't let the prices hold you back! This pizza will leave you wanting more. We started with the very tasty Pulpo pa'la Gallega (Spanish-style octopus and potatoes) and the Setas Rellenas (manchego cheese stuffed mushrooms). The pizza here was delicious. We ordered La Pampa, which comes topped with Argentinian sausage, skirt steak, and chimichurri. Strong recommend. The crust strikes the delicate balance between doughy and snappy, the sauce is light but has good flavor, and the mozz is appropriately thick and gooey. As for pairings, I have to shout out the excellent fruity and smooth Ocean Mambo. There are so many island-themed drink options, but I fully endorse skipping the mojitos or pina coladas and opting for the locally brewed Ocean Mambo here. 4/4/21 I absolutely love the decor of this place!! It's travel themed (at least in the back where we were seated) I took videos but, still haven't figured out how to post those on here so all you get are food pics, sorry. There are post cards hanging on suspenders from the ceiling, luggage serving a shelving on the walls, maps on the tables, items from other countries hanging on the walls. It's seriously so cute I LOVED IT!! Drinks, had to go with the shaken piña colada of course, I mean, we are in Puerto Rico, home of the Piña Colada. I went with the tapas, my friend went with the Churrasco Chimichurri. The lazitos were like knots. So freakin good like better than knots, knots. Lol super soft and perfectly cooked dough. The marinara sauce was homemade and not too tomato-y the parmesan was amazing, I could have eaten that by itself. Next up the chorizo al vino. It took everything in me to not pick up the bowl and drink the sauce. Literally. I'm not joking. I was lifting the bowl to the side and trying to soak up with the perfectly fried cheese all the garlic and wine sauce. I even dipped the lazitos in it so I could get it all. It was delish!! Last up were the croquetas de mamposteao. These were Puerto Rican style rice and beans croquettes with a touch of chorizo. Pretty self explanatory and tasted just as amazing as everything else. Cesar was our server, he was great, super attentive and answered all our questions about the menu and gave us suggestions. Tried this on New Year's Day as a lunch spot for our group. Service was absolutely wild. We kept getting different servers and they kept taking our food to different tables before getting it to ours. And we were wanting to order more food but could never seem to find a server to help us. They would disappear for 15 minutes at a time. Our food all came out at different times. I asked for Diet Coke two separate times and was definitely given regular Coke. Not a big deal, but the combination of poor service quality definitely put a damper on our experience here. The food was good. It wasn't amazing, but good portions and pretty good flavor. The cilantro lime ranch was a great sauce. Probably my only compliment of my experience. My boyfriend was brought out the wrong sandwich entirely and just ate it since we waited so long for the food to come out. I just feel like overall the service we've had in Puerto Rico has been sub par at best and I don't feel welcome as a customer. I saw good reviews of this place and was excited to try it, but probably wouldn't return just due to the service (lack of) alone. Oh! And good luck paying the check... I ordered takeout. Security guard nice. She sat me. And then no one acknowledged me. Had to get up and find someone. They were all at the corner of the bar laughing. A nice girl took my order. It arrived quickly. I destroyed my outfit on the way home because the pizza dripped all over me from the box. Pizza was not classic margherita and was pretty blah. BEST PIZZA IN PUERTO RICO! I can't say this enough WOW!! We arrived at the peek of their busy hour & thankfully we got a table as soon as we arrived. This is the second time I've been to Pirilo. Both times have been great experiences. The staff is very attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is fun, and the food is great. It's a great place to come on a date and also with a group or family. The first time I came I had the Pampa pizza. It had Argentinian sausage, skirt steak, and chimichurri. It was very good. Tonight I decided to have an entrée. I had the Milanesa de Berenjena. It was fried eggplant topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, ham, and pesto. It was good, but lacked a little salt. I ordered it with a side of mamposteao rice. That was very good. My husband ordered the Basilica pizza (alfredo sauce, manchego and mozzarella, white onions, walnuts, basil, cherry tomatoes, and honey. Delicious. We were with a friend who ordered the Carbonara pizza (alfredo sauce, mozzarella, bacon, parsley, and garlic). He liked it. We also ordered the lazitos (bowtie shaped breadsticks), breaded mozzerella squares, and the Pirilo fries. The fries and the mozzerella were excellent. I didn't care much for the lazitos, though. Seated immediately without a reservation at 4:30 on a Saturday. Options for outdoor seating (patio) and indoor with air conditioning are available. Very causal, very local, very cool spot for couples or families. Service was amazing, our server, Diego, even helped translate the menu from English to Spanish for my mother-in-law who doesn't speak English. All the food was delicious, only critique is the lasagna is heavy on oil, not necessarily a bad thing but something to keep in mind before ordering it. We were really excited to have highly rated and recommended pizza in San Juan! However, the french fries appetizer was severely soggy... Also the pizza was super oily. There was a huge pool of oil in the middle of the pie... which made it unappealing and us uneasy. After dabbing all the oil with a bunch of paper napkins, we got to try the pizza. 1000 feet from the beach at the ocean park location brings back memories of Mack's Pizza in Wildwood NJ. Their crust is dusted with flour reminiscent of Italian bakery bread. In early April 2022, our family placed a takeout order of pizza margherita (tomato, basil, mozzarella cheese) and a pepperoni pizza from this Ocean Park location. It has an open-air dining room and is across the street from Kasalta Bakery. Although nearby street parking can be challenging to find in the evening, it's worth the effort. Relative to other sit-down restaurants, I found that 2 pizzas at Pirilo's was excellent value for a family of 4. One major plus is the takeout service was easy to do by phone and saved a considerable amount of waiting time (especially if you have children). To the right of the dining area is an outdoor waiting section to pick up carry-out items. It's a busy place with lots of customers, but the staff is very attentive. From a customer service perspective, I think Pirilo was near the top among kid-friendly restaurants in San Juan. If you're on a family vacation in Condado or Ocean Park with kids, you should definitely check out Pirilo for one of your evening meals. read more

I couldn't enjoy the food because it was hot and sticky. This was the opposite at the Ocean park location which was pleasurable. It was a busy Wednesday, I ask if there was a sit at the bar... there wasn't, I apologetically took a seat at a 4 top table... A gentleman came over to ask if I was alone and gave me a plate and silverware. After than, I waited nearly 9 minutes... no acknowledgement from staff. We also had the pesto pizza with generous portions of prosciutto! This also had a lot of diced tomatoes on it - which I really liked. Both pizzas were very good flavor. There is an option to pick the crust. We tried one of each- not really sure the difference. The crusts for both were chewy and the perfect thickness- not too thin or thick. Pirilo was doing a bustling service on an August Sunday at the seemingly off-time of 4:30 pm, so it must get even busier at actual mealtimes. The restaurant is an open-air sort of structure, which lends an extra breeziness to its already chill vibe. The service was friendly and sincere, but they might've been a bit understaffed. It was a bit difficult to get anyone's attention, and we had to asked for plates, cutlery, and napkins. Not a big deal, though. My mojito - the house mojito - was made with sherry. It was refreshing, though almost too sweet for my liking. The menu, comprised of pizza and tapas with an Argentinian flair, is both large and well-curated. We went with a large La Rucula (House Italian tomato sauce, red onions, garlic, goat cheese, mozzarella di Bufala, arugula, top with pesto, & curri seasoned sesame seeds). The crusts here are hardy and crunchy, the sauces (at least on our slices) tangy and bold. The slices are dabbed with pools of cheese - mozzarella and goat (also tangy) - rather than covered in the queso. The pesto, which, like the sesame seeds, also seemed to include some curry, added a bit of a different, Caribbean-flecked flavor. The arugula was fresh and helped create at least the illusion of a healthy meal. Get this or anything else-- based on our experience and the great reviews, I'd guess that you can hardly go wrong with anything on the menu. read more
