First the good. great atmosphere. When i walked in i said to my buddy wow this may just be my new hangout spot. They have these stars hanging from the ceiling and christmas lights. Service: our waitress sat at the next table up with her boyfriend the whole and rarely ever checked on us unless I waived at her. Food: really small portions but I don't mind that if the food is quality. The tacos at torchys are bigger better tasting and cheaper. Our tacos from this place were gross they came out after 30 minutes of waiting freezing cold. Probably because our waitress forgot to go get them. When we told her that they were cold she didn't care. She said maybe it was because they were rushing them out because we are so busy. I said that makes no sense but ok. The happy hour here is awesome. The margaritas are great. We often go for their burger night. Their burgers are AMAZING. Some of the best I've had in Houston. My only drawback with this place is the service. It's never good. The food comes out fast and is great so it's not a kitchen issue. I've wanted to try Pistolero's ever since I read about their pineapple and jalapeño infused margarita. I am a big fan of infused tequilas and the creative menu offerings were enough to entice me. My boyfriend and I arrived around 5:30 and happily discovered it was the middle of happy hour (3-7PM). This meant tacos were two for five dollars, so I went with the grilled portabella with cauliflower puree and jalapeño jam and the grilled veg (which was zucchini squash) with salsa verde and pumpkin seeds. He got the roast pork, barbacoa, and lengua tacos. The tacos were a lot bigger than I was expecting, especially considering they were a happy hour order. Both of mine were delectable, but I preferred the portabella. I didn't try his, but I surmised from the speed with they were devoured that they were also delicious. The corn tortillas held together nicely with no ripping or leaks. Dining on Monday also means that seasonal margaritas are $5. Their current seasonal margarita is raspberry mango, and the $5 price tag convinced me to order that instead of my intended Pineapple Picante ($11). No regrets. The raspberry mango flavor was impeccable. We had the guacamole small plate with was nothing to write home about but solidly tasty and made even better by the generous portion for less than $5, a rare treat in Houston these days. Came here for happy hour. Isn't wasnt very busy, but there was a large party while we were there. We sat at the bar. We ordered the ceviche and street corn as apps, which I thought were ok. HH Tacos are 2 for $5. We got the mole pork, beef fajita, barbacoa, shrimp, fried fish, and portabella, all on flour. My favorites were the fried fish and portabella. The frozen margarita was really good. Prob best I've had. Strong too. 2 apps, 6 tacos, and 5 drinks for $50, which is really good for two people. Tacos were good. Came here on a Friday night to meet friends for drinks. They had dinner and I can't speak for the food entirely, but I did nibble on some of their leftovers and what I had was just OK. The fiancé had glass of mezcal and I had a Mexican Martini. The mezcal was delicious [I mean, you can't mess up just pouring straight from the bottle into the glass]. The Mexican Martini was just strange... olive/caper juice maybe? The frozen margarita, meh. Service was really slow and a bit kind of confusing. I wasn't sure who was my waitress because each time they came by, it was a new person. Also they were playing nostalgic modern synth-pop, I thought this was a Mexican restaurant. Mexico has a rich musical history with great examples both antique and modern, why not look into that? Overall a place with a focus on the bar, decent food and no soul. read more

Happy hour Lit on a tuesday. They have $1 tacos and i tried the chicken, beef barbacoa, fried catfish, blackened catfish, and the grilled portebella. My fav was the grilled portebella as the flavor was great! Least fav was the grilled catfosh whoch didnt taste like anything. While staring at the second drink we ordered we watched the staff share shots at the bar and after they were done, our server forgot to run our drink to the table . 3. We asked for flour tortillas on ordering but they came out with corn. We asked the girl if they could fix it and she told us she thought they were flour because both look the same. Ok? Thoroughly unimpressed with this restaurant. They messed up my friend's birthday party reservations for the patio. A few of us had to sit inside and the restaurant was not busy. Our service was no existent. The waitress took our order and the food took 45 min to arrive. Basically we ordered tacos. I had to ask what was taking so long and she said the food was waiting..it was cold and unappetizing. We had to order our drinks at the bar. Not going back and would not recommend this restaurant. Not only are the tacos cheap, they're actually good (and only $1) I ordered six (2 beef, 2 chicken & 2 beer battered fish) They were all pretty good, the beef was a little dry though. At midnight, the late night happy hour starts. [$3 margaritas] Those were good as well, I had 2. The parking's far from great lol, so I've taken uber both visits. I'm absolutely disgusted by lack of communication. I was waited by Sammy and she did great, however there was deception in my itemized receipt. They gave me and "up charge in effort" for the bartender to have to put my margarita as a half a half. The fluid ounces are the same and it's the same ingredients. RIDICULOUS. This was never mentioned. I as well have never been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn't provide chips and salsa as a compliment for the group size we had. I'd rather got to Los Cucos or El Tiempo if I want good business. At least they let you know what you're getting into. When I am paying for "add ons" that equivalent to a meal or drinks, I expect that to be communicated. Pistolero's is a great chill spot to have some drinks after work. It was about 15 of us. At 11pm friday night the bar wasnt too busy. we were able to combine 3 tables in the patio area with no problem. Our waitress Sammie was awesome! she took our orders and quickly delivered our drinks. she checked up on us every once in awhile which was great! the margaritas are perfect and are $3 after 12am the valet parking is unnecessary. the parking attendant was difficult to understand and confusing. i recommend parking across the street read more

BE PREPARED TO WAIT it's what any busy establishment does when it is a peak time or day. Don't be a dick, you might get seated or served faster. I have seen some of you bad yelpers in here while enjoying my meal and service. Some of y'all are horrible to these servers. They are bartenders and waitress, not your servants. And learn how to TIP! You're already getting cheap food and drinks and working these servers to death, don't be a cheap jerk! Realize when there is a line out the door during peak times that service might take a bit due to demand. What's odd is during that time I'm always able to find a seat and get a drink within a few minutes, food is sitting in front of me in 15 min or less. Attention bad yelpers: stop being jerks to service staff, trust me, you get what you give. Stop acting entitled, stop snapping your fingers at the bartenders or throwing a fit when you have to wait for a table. Because that bad behavior that you display in the middle of the restaurant/bar is way more off putting than anything else! I've been to this place 50+ times since it opened and I LOVE IT! So far, the best thing that I've sampled would have to be their Chips & Queso, which is pretty sad. Like others have said, their customer service falls short. The drinks are delicious. During happy hour the prices are very affordable. The food however is another story. It was my first time visiting and I was super excited but was very disappointed by their food. The chips were refried and you could taste that. The flour tortillas were not heated properly all the way through. The pork taco: the pork is salty and they add a salty cheese so not a good combo. The rice was swimming in oil.
