First time here for lunch -- the sandwiches and fries were excellent! I'm a fan of the chicken shawarma platter and getting it in lunch size in a pita was great. Fairly priced with and served with their great spicy and yogurt sauces. The fries were crispy and In a solid portion.

I was happy to see there was no line on Memorial Day at lunchtime. In fact, I was thrilled they were even open! (They are actually open 365 days a year, I found out.) The gentleman at the counter was friendly, patient, and helpful. It had been a while since I ate at Pita Inn, so I had to take a minute to decide what to order. I chose the falafel sandwich and asked if the tahini had dairy. I was told yes, it does, but that they also have a vegan tahini. Additionally, I ordered a small hummus, which comes with pita bread. It took about 5-ish minutes for the food to be prepared, then I found a table in their clean and bright dining room. I enjoyed listening to the music while I ate; it made me feel more immersed in the culture. The food was delicious, and I liked that they sprinkled paprika and oil on top of the hummus. The pita was warm and fresh, and the falafel was perfectly seasoned! After lunch, I ordered baklava to-go, which does not contain dairy (woo hoo!). Even though it tasted good, I felt it was a bit dry... perhaps a little more honey would have done the trick. During my experience at Pita Inn, I was reminded of how much I love this place (especially this location), and am looking forward to returning again soon!

Very clean restaurant. Friendly, helpful staff! Excellent lunch specials. Delicious food. Great drink selection! Mint tea mixed with mango!

So much food, for such little price! Pita Inn did not disappoint. My vegetarian combo plate came with 2 pitas along with my big tray of food. The falafel was perfectly soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The tabouli salad was soooo fresh and I loved the roasted eggplant flavor of the baba ghannoug. We ordered at the counter when we got there & our food was ready in less in less than 10 minutes - super quick! Great place for take out.

Yes, another win, for Pita Inn. We ordered for delivery, but all was still hot and fragrant when it arrived at our door. Piles of pita, creamy hummus, tangy dolmades, fluffy rice pilaf and tasty kefteh and shawarma. Amazing garlicky sauce, nutty tahini and spicy red sauce. All was packed nicely and secure, and delivered in a timely manner. We're all in for Pita Inn.

    Chicken Shawarma Entree

Last week ordered a chicken shawarma plate for take out. I brought it back home and was shocked on how little chicken there was compared to the pile of rice, it was basically all rice. I come here often and never usually have problems (I dine in). But for 16 bucks it was not worth at all. I don't know what was going on this time around they usually do a great job.

This place hit the spot! I loved the portions, the flavors, family environment and sauces!!! This was my first time and it did not disappoint. Seems family owned so the service is warm and comforting. This is definitely being added to my Chicago food list when I am back in town.

I love Mediterranean food and it's difficult to find a good place. Pita Inn is my go to place when I crave for a good chicken shawarma & falafel sandwich. This location is always hustling. Everything is fresh and their staff is always helpful when there are any questions. The process begins with placing your order at the front counter, receive a number ticket, find a table, and wait for your number to be called on to pick up at the pick up counter. There is plenty of inside seating and when the weather is nice, guests can enjoy outdoor seating. We ordered Chicken Shawarma, falafels, Chicken Tender Entree, Extra Pitas, and Chicken Fatoush Salad. Overall value was on point for the amount of food we received. I highly recommend this place.

Customer service is poor with the one man that stands at the kitchen counter. Rude service from this guy.

Do you make your dürüm in-house to order?

They do make it in house.

How are the catering portion sizes? The menus look fantastic with a wide variety of foods, but if I order for exactly how many guests I will have, will it be too much food?

I agree with James as he mentioned they are very generous with their portion sizes and we have actually catered thru them on many occasions. The restaurant will actually suggest based on how many people in your party what the correct order size is.…

We had made a reservation a month in advance to try a new restaurant on Father's Day. However, as…read morethe day approached, the weather forecast consistently called for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and possible flash flooding. We decided it was not a good idea to drive to an unfamiliar area in inclement weather and canceled the reservation on Friday night. We were fortunate that Social Inn is close by and is a great restaurant for celebratory dining. Best of all, they still had reservation available. As it turned out, it was just light rain the entire evening on Father's Day, but we didn't regret the change at all. Although the restaurant was not filled to capacity, it was bustling with many families celebrating Father's Day, creating a festive vibe. It's the first time that we met the owner, Daniella, who's so warm and welcoming. She invited us to choose from available tables in three different dining areas. We selected the table right by the lounge that had a large TV, homey décor, couch and cocktail table. It was also right by the big window overlooking the small and charming front patio. Our server, Chis, was very friendly, pleasant, and attentive. I ordered a Lemonade ($3), my husband and daughter each enjoyed a glass of Mer Soliel Reserve Chardonnay (2 for $26). We shared a Grilled Octopus ($22) which was cooked to perfection. The warm, lightly charred pita points paired well with the creamy and tasty beet hummus. I had a Slow Roasted Lamb Shank ($39) which was tender and full of flavors. It was a very generous portion that I shared a big piece with my husband; and still had leftovers to take home. It made a delicious lamb sandwich for my next lunch. My husband liked his Spiked White Fish ($29) so much last time that he ordered it again. Our daughter enjoyed her order of Rigatoni Sausage ($23), another generously portioned dish that she couldn't quite finish. By the end of the meal, we were too full for individual desserts, so we shared a Crème Brûlée ($8), which was the perfect sweet ending. All in all, it was a wonderful dinner. With consistent delicious dishes, warm hospitality, comfortable seating, and a convenient location, we will definitely be back again.

It was a little over-seasoned for my taste, but I absolutely loved the beet hummus and warm pita bread that came with it! The rigatoni with their homemade sausage was delicious. It was slow-cooked until it was fall-off-the-bone tender and paired perfectly with creamy mashed potatoes. Every bite was comforting and packed with flavor. Overall, we had an amazing dinner. The restaurant has a chic, modern atmosphere that's perfect for date nights, celebrations, or getting together with friends. The staff was warm, friendly, and attentive, making the entire experience even better. We'll definitely be back!

In the attached photo taken today the rice with the chicken strips is much smaller even though I personally asked for them to add more rice explaining that everyone at home fights for it. There's lots of exciting food options on the route, and I did question myself on if this was worth the effort... it was. Small place, but that just fine. The first thing I noticed as I walked in was the smell, oh what a fabulous scent! Meat and complex spices. No other nonsense, no air freshener, no cleaning supply smell, no candles, just the smell of exactly what your here for. The cones of meat are spinning right in front of you behind the counter. What a beautiful sight. I ordered the lunch special #1. It comes with chicken shawarma, chicken kabob, kefta kabob, rice, salad, pita, and a falafel. Less than 12 bucks! Available from 12 to 3 pm, this is a great value. I'll get the negative out of the way here, I didn't care for the chicken kabob. It just felt over done, but good flavor. Also, the pita was a very generic and dry pita. Likely store bought. Not a huge deal but if pita is in your name I expect a decent one. The shawarma was spot on perfect. I've had my fair share of shawarma at this point and I'd put this up near the top, especially on the local scene. The kefta was my favorite part of the plate, the spices really show up and stand out. Perfect cook as well. The rice was nice with some citrus flavor that balanced the plate out. The salad was very basic but tasted fresh. A special mention for their spicy red sauce. THIS. This is the red sauce I always want but no one does it this well. Just the perfect heat level, at the very tip of my tolerance, with plenty of flavor to back up the spice. This is the best red sauce I think I've had period. I usually love the white sauce but catch me here sweating with a smile on my face and red sauce on everything.

I've since visited the Niles location several times. The food has always been consistently excellent, but unfortunately the service has never matched the quality of the kitchen. Had the burratta & fig, porkbelly brushetta, and a flatbread as apps. Loved it all. porkbelly was so tender, the burratta & fig was a good balance of sweet and savory. Needless to say, the flatbread was a hit with the kids as well. Other notable dishes were the beef shwarma and the crispy duck. Ambiance- LOVE it! It can be fancy if you want, it can be more casual if you want. Enjoyed the church vibes mixed with modern touch. Very well decorated. The outdoor area is so cute, esp overlooking the lake. We sat indoors but still a wonderful ambiance. Bonus: they have a changing table in the women's bathroom. Sorry, could not confirm in the men's. Service- this was definitely impressive. You don't always get service especially at some of these well known restaurants bc why would you have to have good service? We had made reservations online and it was initially indoor. They were so awesome about switching it to outdoor with out much trouble even if we were 10 minutes late. But the air quality was so bad so once we were about to get settled we requested for indoor again. There was only smiles and a happy to help attitude and got us settled. I want to highlight our waitress, Ciara (Sierra?). With a party of 9, she was so thoughtful of our orders esp for the kids. I mean, when we ordered lemonade for them she even asked if she wants us to water it down and as parents we were like YES! They do not need that much sugar LOL! She was just overall so warm and communicative. She checked in and made sure we were comfortable. Her smile and pleasant attitude made it easier when we had three little ones wanting to walk around after eating and trying to keep them entertained at a table.

We intentionally made this our "no budget" celebration, expecting exceptional food, service, and hospitality. Instead, it turned into one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've ever had. Our reservation was for 7:00 p.m. on July 2, and despite having a reservation, we waited more than 20 minutes to be seated. During that time, we watched people walk in, greet someone they appeared to know, and be seated immediately at the bar while we continued to wait. My husband had gone out of his way to ensure our anniversary would be acknowledged. He noted on the reservation that it was our five-year anniversary, called ahead before our dinner to confirm the restaurant was aware, and even checked with the host stand when we arrived. We weren't asking for anything extravagant--just the kind of small acknowledgment that many restaurants happily provide for guests celebrating a milestone. Nothing happened. There was no congratulations, no acknowledgment from our server, no candle with dessert, no handwritten note, nothing. We even ordered dessert ourselves, and it arrived exactly as if it were any ordinary Tuesday night. The service only added to the disappointment. Our server was curt, rarely checked on us despite our ordering two appetizers, two entrées, dessert, and several rounds of drinks, and never made us feel welcomed or cared for. For a restaurant positioning itself as a destination for special occasions, the level of hospitality simply wasn't there. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for it. Considering the price point, we expected much more. Most dishes were surprisingly bland and underseasoned, and nothing we ordered stood out as memorable. At the end of the evening, my husband politely mentioned everything to the host stand. The response was essentially that our anniversary "must have gotten lost in communication," followed by an offer of a dessert to take home. By that point, the moment had already passed. A boxed dessert cannot replace a once-in-a-lifetime celebration that was overlooked from start to finish. No manager came over to speak with us, no one took ownership of the experience, and there was no meaningful attempt to make things right. This wasn't just dinner--it was our fifth wedding anniversary, a milestone we'll never get to celebrate again. We chose Foxtail because we trusted it would deliver an exceptional experience worthy of the occasion. Instead, we left feeling ignored, disappointed, and wondering why we spent so much money on an evening that felt like an afterthought. If you're looking for a restaurant to celebrate an anniversary, proposal, birthday, or other meaningful milestone, I cannot recommend Foxtail on the Lake based on our experience. There are too many restaurants that understand hospitality and know how to make guests feel special. Sadly, this wasn't one of them.
