The food was good. Not overly salty. The young lady at the register was a doll. Since they sold wine by the glass I asked if I could try one before committing to a glass. The grumpy lady behind the counter told me she was not going to open an entire bottle so that I could taste before deciding. That set a bad tone for me. It would have been nicer if she mentioned I don't have reds open but if you would like to try a white I have those available. She did come back a couple of times to ask what wine I wanted since she had white open. At that point she has already ruined my experience. I am accustomed to the excellent treatment and courtesy we have always received from George's Greek. Her attitude does not make me want to return since there are so many other Greek options in the area. The interior is small. Not for groups. But cozy. The fans keep the air moving but also make for dirty seating. Our table was cleaned but not the bench. After wiping the bench I had a dirty napkin. They do have a few seats outside. There is a small and tight parking lot. Would be better for take out in my opinion. read more

Came in tonight (Halloween) and the girl working the counter was awesome. Very friendly ( she had dyed blue-ish green hair) service was perfect. She even brought candy for everyone to pick out! I had a falafel plate /w potatoes and it was all fantastic, only knock I have is there was a couple pieces of pita that tasted stale. Rest of the plate was phenomenal. I don't know why I've slept on this spot. For a long time, almost all of the Mediterranean spots that I've been to in Long Beach were acceptable (Panini Kabob, Green Olive, that doner place in LBX, George's, and Taboon, and I'm sure I'm missing others). But none of them slap like my 3 favorites: Open Sesame, Ammatoli, and King Mediterrano (in Torrance). So finally, we decided on Pita Pitaki because we keep seeing it and I kept hearing about it. We did go once but that was purely because I was on a dolma kick and Pita Pitaki did have good dolmas, but I really didn't want to write a review on one to-go item. This time, we made a conscious effort to dine in. Definitely a family-owned spot and casual. But man, the food was fantastic! Everything tasted fresh and the staff was helpful in making vegan substitutions as necessary on their dishes for my SO (their pita has milk powder, so ask for the homemade bread as a substitute). I ordered the dolmas because they were fantastic the last time I was here. The street fries though, are amazing! Just stacked and piled with toppings and fresh fries, you can't go wrong with it! This was big enough to be a meal in of itself. The gyro, probably drier than I like, was probably the only knock and it's not even enough of a knock to drive a point down. I'm so glad we found Pita Pitaki...it's now added to our rotation of regular spots (so far this list includes Thunderbolt Pizza, La Taqueria Brand, Lola's, MeeMa's, and Grilled Fraiche) as locals. Ordered take-out from here while at work nearby. Got the Chicken Kalamaki with no tomatoes. It was stuffed - large portions, for a super reasonable price. I have been on the hunt for a really good Mediterranean food for a while and finally decided to give this location a try. Highly recommend, I've gone back twice in the past month and I've tried their 1/2 Greek chicken and lamb gyro plate. I've also tried their side of feta fries and, I have been more than pleased with everything I've ordered thus far. They give you a ton of food, it's enough for two people almost, and the feta that they put on their fries is soooo fresh and they also give a lot compared to most restaurants I've tried. I love the music and the tele-menus Food - Moussaka Pro: You're getting bread, feta cheese and a greek salad too....all for $15. That's pretty awesome all things considered. The bechamel topping was delicious. Nice, thick, fluffy and crusty like it's supposed to be (unlike a bechamel in lasagna, this one adds egg. The nutmeg is a nice addition. Very delicious!). With that said, the moussaka was very, very, bland and watery. I cannot tell you how much salt it needed. So much that I'm convinced the chef forgot to put it in. We loved this place! We had the gemista plate which consists of a tomato and a green pepper staffed with rice and spices and it comes with potatoes, bread and a generous piece of feta cheese. It was delicious and very filling! We also had giouvetsi (lamb shank) that comes with orzo, bread and feta cheese which we also loved. For around $50 including tax you get two pounds of straight up gyro meat, a choice of rice or potatoes, a large salad, tzatziki sauce, and a bunch of quartered pita bread slices. It easily covers my family of 4 plus leftovers. When we order this, we pretty much always get it with the lamb gyro which is pretty much some of the best I have ever had -- this is coming from a person who spent their early years in their family pita shop. The meat has an amazing flavor and texture, not greasy enough to kill you but enough to have that slightly-melt-in-your-mouth-tenderness. We also never pass on the potatoes are amazingly lemony and herbaceous wedges of carby goodness. Their salad comes with plenty of red onion, tomatoes, and a healthy chunk of briney feta. If you're feeling extra fancy, splurge and get yourself the honey feta. It's literally just a block of feta wrapped in a neat little phyllo package, fried and drizzled with honey and sesame seeds and it is hands down the most delicious thing I have recently. Excellent food here! I'm just sad it took me this long to find out about this amazing place! I tried the lamb plate and everything was delicious from the lamb to the rice and pita bread. This plate came with rice, pita bread, 4 lamb chops and i believe a greek potato and good size portions. The dinner also comes with a fountain drink for about $28 dollars total. It's the most expensive on the menu. Well worth it for the super fresh ingredients they put into the plates. They are only doing take out. I heard the lamb gyro and hummus are great also. I will be back to try more goodies. The girl who took my order was so sweet and nice! Oh the powdered cookies they have in the case are awesome. I highly recommend trying this place if you haven't. I got the gyro plate that came with rice (choice of rice, potatoes, or fries), Greek salad, pita, veggie skewer, and choice of protein (in my case, deliciously tender and freshly shaved gyro!) You. Get. So. Much. Food! Now, I will say that I also had some appetizers before my actual meal came. Our table ordered the calamari and dip combo (melitzanosalata [eggplant] and skordalia [garic] were my two favorites!) I definitely recommend getting at least one dip on top of your entree. Now let's get into this entree, honey! The gyro was tender, flavorful, and was not as salty as some other places I've been to, which I so appreciate because I'm quite sensitive to salt. The tzatziki that accompanied the gyro plate was wonderful - refreshing and such a nice complimentary taste and texture to your meal. I love a good fluffy rice pilaf and Pita Pitaki definitely delivered. Again, the grilled veggie skewer was a great addition to all that protein you get. The Greek salad had a big dollop of feta cheese and dressed with seasonings, balsamic vinaigrette, and olive oil. Long story short.
