Amazing Lebanese food, and not just relative to what else is available in Key Biscayne. The food at Pita Pockets could easily go head to head with the Lebanese eateries in the Wash DC area where we were visiting from. It's fast casual style and very customizable. My husband and I got the lamb and beef platter and the lamb/beef kofta platter. For the included sides, we picked rice+lentils for one and white (seasoned) rice for the other, along with little salads with assorted toppings. Plus fluffy pita like bread. Everything was delicious but our favorites were the various spreads/dips. Between the two of us, we got the garlic, fire paste, baba ganouj, tzaziki, and red pepper. The flavors were so good -- smoky, spicy, creamy, etc, and all complemented the food well. Each platter was less than $20 which was a great value for the quality and quantity, especially in the area. Good mediterranean food here, serving subs, sandwiches, and wraps. Although, I'm not a big fan of gyro meat just sitting out in the open air, it never looks that clean. The service is decent and they make the sandwiches pretty quick. However, the plastic red chairs are horrendous. The plain dining tables don't help either. I felt I was in an 1980s school cafeteria. Headed over on a Friday during the lunch hour. Hidden near the end of a strip mall (it's not visible from the street); was wondering if I was even in the right place. Stepped inside and it was a bit dark and hot; turns out something was wrong with the A/C. No matter, I had to try the shawarma. There were a few people in front of us, but staff was cooking away happily. Stepped up and order the beef/lamb shawarma pita. They make it the way you like with lots of options of quality ingredients (garlic spread, hummus, tzatziki, tomatoes, onions, etc). My shawarma? THIS. WAS. PHENOMENAL. The beef/lamb combo is marinated overnight and then cooked on a vertical circular broiler. Add the tasty sauces and fresh ingredients and you have a perfect shawarma. I wanted this to be a place I loved & could order from regularly but the handful of times I ordered, the handful of times I was disappointed. To begin with, the place reeks of smoke, the employees/managers/owners (unsure of the title) smoke outside the door like it's nothing. That smell then goes inside, it's just kind of dingy & the food is just- not impressive. The food taste just ok the wraps are often not very well put together & the bowls are just ok. After having a disappointment with a very recommended middle eastern restaurant in coral gables, the Daily bread, I was very happy to find this small place in Key Biscayne. It is one of the best Lebanese food you will find in Miami, the other one comparable is Beirut in Doral, but is too far from where we live. I've become a regular, and Federico, it's chef and owner, has a simple but great menu choices. Everything is home made, fresh and healthy. My favorite is the Kefta kebab, both in platter or wrap , also really good is rib-eye kebab, the chicken kebab. Wow! What a real gem! Saw that this had great reviews and it did not disappoint! I had the kafta wrap which was the bomb!. First you get a pita that is perfectly baked and split apart. You get to choose what you want stuffed in it and the results were amazing! Great Lebanese food. Thanks to Yelp, or I never would have discovered this gem! Tucked away in the back of a strip mall on Key Biscayne, Pita Pockets is not only insanely delicious, but also fast and inexpensive. Don't expect a fancy ambiance or even tablecloths here, but you're in for a real treat when it comes to the food. I always split the beef tenderloin kebab platter with a friend, or take half home for later. The portions are HUGE. The beef is soo juicy and tender. The Israeli cous cous is also very tasty, and so are the baba ganoush and falafel. Baklava is also very good! This is by far the best kabob I've ever had. Yeah cheesy to start a review like that but stop wasting your time ready this review and just eat here. The beef kabob is spiced and cooked to perfection. Juicy, tender, fresh and the quality is what you would find in a five star steak house. Rice pilaf, salad, compliments the dish perfectly. Humus, roasted peppers add so much more flavor.
