Bf and I are regulars of the Plano location (edit: Now renamed Hotpot Fairy, not an official location??) and happened to be in the area to try this one tonight. While there were some minor differences, overall the quality here was the same and you really can't go wrong with it. $15/lb and I NEVER need more than .75 lb to fill me. You choose absolutely everything that goes in it so everything down to the taste and amount is specific to you (you fill a bowl with raw ingredients and it gets boiled into a broth of your choice for you). All of it is fresh and healthy. The Plano location does have way more soup options (I love the mushroom, but this one only had tomato!) but I'd say this location has more topping options. I'm a spice baby, so get the tomato soup here if you're weak to spice like me. A great concept as always! read more

Chinese hot pot that charges by the pound! When you're assigned a table, you go to a buffet line to fill a large salad bowl with all your desired hot pot ingredients. They weigh it for you and take it to the kitchen to cook with your desired broth. I got the spicy soup which was good. They had a good assortment of vegetables and various balls (fish, beef, pork...) but only had lamb and beef for the meat portion. Although they also had some seafood. The average price per bowl was between $25-30. read more

This is one of my go to places because you can choose all your favorite hotpot ingredients and pay for what you choose. They have a good selection of items and the broth is delicious. You can choose whether you want it in a soup or "dry". You can also select your spice level. Once it's cooked, they'll bring it to your table. There's also a small sauce bar area as well, but the food is already flavorful enough. Met up with some friends for dinner at Yin Tang in Carrollton. This is another popular Chinese malatang spot in the city. When we sat at our table, nobody came up and addressed us at first. We just walked up to the front where the self serve soup toppings were. You first get a bowl and put in whatever veggies, meat, and various toppings you would like. They have much less options than yonny, I just kept it simple here and basically got a bunch of meat. They also have more limited soup base options here, with an option of original, tom yum, tomato, or spicy dry mix. I decided to get the original spicy broth. After they take the bowl to cook, I checked out the sauce bar. It's pretty limited, and I made my sauce way too vinegary. After getting my soup, I had to add a little salt to it as I thought it was a little bland but it was much better after that. The lobster salad ball was my favorite topping, I did not expect such an explosion of flavor when I bit into it. It was lowkgenuinely life changing, everything else was good in general read more

Chinese hotpot - aka malatang! I enjoy going here when I crave hotpot and want to build my own bowl. I love the idea of pay by the pound. Typically I get the original soup base in medium and that'll have a good amount a kick to it for me. That have a good variety of options when it comes to veggies, noodles/carbs, meats. There's a self service sauce bar as well. It's build your own bowl, eat, then pay! Always come back here! Out of the 5 times i've gone the first time had an ant in it... so maybe be mindful when eating! the food is good for what you pay for so I came back to give it a try once more.m and its been fine since. read more

Great food! I know there are some differences btwn the places but they're minor enough for me to compare. I prefer it here over malatang (the one nearby), the food is better and it was cheaper too). First time trying this spot and am already waiting until I'm in the area again to come back. They had a plethora of options to include in your bowl and everything seemed very fresh and clean. I got the broth medium spicy and it was the perfect amount of lingering spice to elevate the dish without overpowering it. There was a waitlist when we went on a Saturday night but were able to sit indoors until our table was ready. I loved the egg noodles, imitation crab, broccoli, enoki mushrooms, potatoes, and much more. I would definitely recommend coming here especially on a cold night! read more

Good broth flavor here, although it's a little bit salty. It's one of those places that's nice to go when you're craving a bowl of hot pot but don't want to go out and get all the ingredients yourself. You pick your ingredients, bring them up to be weighed 14.95/lb and they give you a tag number. Then they bring the bowl to your table. Yin Tang is one of my go-to spots. Their sister restaurant in Plano recently rebranded, but both locations are just as good as ever. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is clean, bright, and inviting[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], and the staff are always efficient at getting your food out quickly. They have a huge selection for building your own hot pot bowl--everything from fresh veggies and mushrooms to tofu, fish balls, and beef (and plenty more). For the price per pound it's honestly such a steal! My friends and I got so much food for just 14-15 bucks, we all got really full off of our malatang and had to take a good chunk of it home, which was great if I do say so myself! The sauce bar had plenty of ingredients/options to make whatever sauce you wish. Two things that I will point out is the spice levels are extremely underwhelming. Me and two of my friends ordered the second to highest spice level and when we got our food the broth tasted mild. For it being the second to highest level of spice we all expected it to be way spicier than it ended up being, which was pretty disappointing. Another more concerning part of this place was that there was a concerning amount of cross contamination. Both seafood and meat weren't properly separated, allowing for easy cross contamination, which prevents people with seafood allergies from eating here. Same goes for the sauce bar, the peanuts and other nuts are easily able to accidentally able mix in with the other sauces. Other than that service was standard for it being busy on a random Tuesday, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance/vibes of the place were so nice and calming, and even though there were lots of people there and every table around us was full I didn't feel like I had to yell at the people at my table for them to hear what I was saying and I was able to hear everyone clearly, which was really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall this place is a perfect place to eat out with friends! read more

The portion sizes here are MASSIVE and you can choose what broth you want your food in. I got the mild spicy mala and wish I went with a spicier option--there was not much heat to it. There's a large variety of items to choose from which is very nice. The only downside I would say is that for the dry pot option it tastes like they just boil the food and mix in a little bit of peanut sauce. read more

I've been in twice now and think it's pretty good. You get to customize your bowl with ingredients and either pick your soup base or opt for stir-fried. Ingredients are plenty including various veggies, noodles, seafood, and meats. There's also a little sauce bar that's included as well. They charge you by the weight of your bowl, and you pay at the end of your meal. I came in this last time for the new tom yum soup base, because if there's tom yum soup then I'm there. Alas, it was just ok. The soup has one level of spice which was just below a medium to me. The first aroma I got was coconut and gave me curry vibes. As for the taste, there was a hint of lemongrass, but I was missing the strong sour and spicy notes. I would just stick to the original spicy soup base. It's pretty solid. I usually prefer hot pot cooked at the table because I like my soup scalding hot but this is a nice alternative. read more

You can get your dish stir-fried or as a soup - we went with the soup based on the staff's recommendation. I tried the tomato soup, but the broth just tasted like straight tomato, which wasn't great. If you're vegetarian or don't eat beef, this might not be the best spot. But my friends had the beef broth and said it was super flavorful and savory, so I'd recommend that if you can have it. For the price, we got a lot of food and left really satisfied. There's a good variety of items to choose from, including plenty of veggies. If the tomato broth had been better, I would've enjoyed the experience a lot more and definitely come back. The service was friendly and quick, and everything was neat and organized. I finally tried Yin Tang and it was really good value for the money. I tried the dry pot while my boyfriend tried the hot pot. (The ingredients are all priced the same, incentivizing us to get more of the meat and seafood; it is all $14.99 a pound.) The employees weigh and cook it for you according to the dry pot or hot pot styles. My boyfriend got the hot pot, which was delicious with a warm broth and a sauce bar to create your own hotpot-like dipping sauce. The dry pot was different from what I expected - I thought it would be more like mala xiang guo (mala dry pot), but it felt like they had boiled the ingredients and sprinkled on sesame sauce (which was similar to what I could make at the sauce bar). So, I would recommend going here for the hot pot, which was really delicious. Especially as it gets cold, I will be coming here more often. read more

My favorite place for Chinese style hotpot or "malatang" in Carrollton! Yin Tang lets you craft your own by adding your own topping in a bowl. There are so many topping options to choose from and I see lots of ingredients I don't see at other places (like soft tofu, different types if intestine, etc). You can also select their dry version as well. There's nothing not to like. (4.5/5) Original Flavor Hot Pot Soup Gosh this broth is to die for. It's so savory, flavorful, rich, with a bit of nuttiness. I can't see why anyone wouldn't like it. I picked one less than the spiciest level but I could've done the max. Not very spicy! (4/5) Spicy Dry Mix This is the dry version which only comes in one flavor! It is nutty, saucy, and delicious. Picked the spiciest level and it was definitely spicy with chopped chilies in them. Honestly best fast hot pot I've had in a while. The waiters were really good at explaining how it works and really quick to get us seated in a nice clean table during dinner hour. The inside was small but clean. It's $15.99 per pound so mine was around $16 since I got a pound. Honestly it's on the pricier side but they make up for it by having so many options veggie, meat, noodles, and the best fish balls I've had in a while. There's different spice levels and medium spicy was the best amount. I surprisingly ate the entire thing and the broth. I recommend it here if youre new to hotpot or don't wanna do AYCE. read more

Yes, yes and yes! I love this place. It's not like the typical haidilao/little sheep hot pot flavors but it is delicious in its own right! This is a great way to only eat what you pick because they charge by weight- it can get pricey quick but it's worth it. This is how I can eat lots of veggies! If you're thinking about going, just do it! On a cold night, I was craving some noodles and soup. After flipping through pho and ramen spots, I came across this hot pot spot and decided to try it. Absolutely worth it! This spot has a build your own design where you select all the ingredients you want in the hot pot, they have two broths available or can make a dry pot. It was great being able to see and pick the fresh ingredients. The items are $14.99/lb, then you choose how you want it cooked. I chose the original broth and man was it fantastic. Aside from the food, the restaurant is nicely decorated (look out for the muscular lucky cat) and the servers walk around frequently to fill water. Overall great place, I'd love to go back and try the dry pot. read more

Love love this place for their broth. It's creamy pork bone broth that makes everything that it's in taste so good. There's a great selection of meat, fresh seafood, vegetables and carbs to choose. Came here with some friends and this was a fun place to visit! It's not your typical hotpot place where you cook everything at the table. Instead, you grab all the veggies, meats and noodles you'd like in your soup and they charge you based on how much your selection weighs. You can also select whether you want soup or not and how spicy your soup base is. The ambience is nice as well, but it's definitely more of a casual place to eat. Was in town for work and tried this place. Glad I did! Building your own hot pot w all the ingredients you can think of Taiwanese style. They charge by the pound so you can build quite a large hotpot w just one pound of food. Price is reasonable too! Choose regular or spicy broth, they cook it up for you and bring it to your table. Yin Tang is the perfect place for individual hotpot bowls. There is a self service bar where you can pick all of the ingredients you want, and then pay by weight at the register. They let you choose between soup or stir fry, and then the spiciness on a level of 1-4. I always get level 3 and it's still not too spicy. I love the variety of tofu and mushrooms that they offer. They do soup to-go as well, in which the ingredients are cooked and packaged separately from the soup to ensure the food doesn't get soggy. Its a self serve buffet where you pick all the veggies/carbs/meats/toppings that you want and scoop it all into a bowl. They charge by weight, so keep that in mind. You can pick if you want them to prepare it in a soup or dry and your spice level. I highly recommend the soup as their broth is very good. This place offers an interesting twist on hot pot: you select the ingredients that you want first and then they heat it up for you in the back. I liked this concept because you're able to enjoy the delicious broth instead of wasting it (if you choose to have it in the hot pot soup vs. the spicy dry mix). I got the original flavor with a spice level of 4 (on a scale from 1-4, with 1 being not spicy and 4 being most spicy), and found that it was pretty spicy but not overbearing. The broth was very flavorful, and their ingredients were fresh. The workers would refill the ingredients often, and there was an excellent amount of options. The price is $14.99 per pound of ingredients that you fill up in a bowl. There's also a sauce station next to the cashier stand with the classic, most basic hot pot sauces for you to mix after you pay for your ingredients. I was a little disappointed after I got my bowl though because I had picked out a decent amount of crown daisies, but there were only like two small pieces after they brought it out to me. read more

A hidden gem in Carrollton! Located in the back area between ranch99 and daiso, it's much quieter with ample parking. Lots of available tables when we came. It's like a self-serve personal hotpot which is nice because you choose exactly what you want. There's lots of unique choices as well as the classics. The giant bowl you fill is deceiving. The weight and amount of food add up quickly - I ended up with over 1lb and struggled to finish. There's a small sauce bar to make your own sauces. The waitress only recommended the spicy hot pot, which was delicious. The broth was so creamy and rich. All the ingredient were fresh and cooked well. So much food. You choose your raw ingredients and add it to a bowl and then it gets weighed and you choose if you want it dry or with the original vs tomato broth. Let me just say that if you get carried away like I did you'll definitely leave with left overs! The price is pretty high but for what you get and the quality of both the ingredients and taste I think it's definitely worth the splurge. read more

110% my favorite Thai Soup place in all DFW. No one even comes close. This is a spot my Thai friend took us one day, and forever change the way we eat soup. Just plain amazing and at a very good price. Hoping as they expand that they open a location by North Fort Worth with all the luxury living up there. read more

Came during the soft opening in September 2025 with excited expectations based on what we've heard, hoping to find a new go to Taiwanese spot. Unfortunately we didn't find what we were looking for. I admit this was the soft opening and things may improve, and for their sake I hope they do. Biggest issues for us were lack of flavor in the meat and multiple proteins being overcooked. The sauces they used had the flavor but it seems like the meat just wasn't given the time to marinate because the meat itself was bland. That coupled with proteins being a bit dry from being overcooked and you don't have a good combo. If they can tweak their prep process to let the meat marinate then it would solve most of the problems though. The best dish was the fried pork chop rice by far. A bit on the sweeter side so it just depends on how you like it. The bok choy it came with was basically raw though had more crunch than the pork chop. Service was also a mixed bag. The server was super nice and helped give us recs but it just seemed like they were still getting the hang of working in a restaurant. A glass of water got some food in it so the server took it away but they never brought us a new one. Again, soft opening so I give that some grace, but food has to be more on point for a new restaurant to make it. So all in all, there are definitely some kinks to work through for them. Normally I wouldn't write a review for soft opening but given that there are old reviews here plus food quality missed the mark more than I think it should've, I think people on Yelp should get a heads up.

The only times I really eat sushi rolls is when I'm at a place like this, so we ordered one to get our mayo intake for the month and the rest were sashimi or nigiri pieces. Pepper in some hot appetizers and we left feeling extremely full and satisfied. One thing that I really did love was the presentation. It makes it feel a lot fancier when the food comes out on a wooden boat serving platter than on little plates so brownie points for that. I will say that we ordered pretty much the same thing from round one and two, but the first round was definitely had more of the higher quality pieces (fattier pieces, smoked this and that, etc.) but I get it. The service was really good and I like that they provide Japanese mayo on the table for people to use, but it's just a bit pricey. Overall, I would recommend if you want to try Hiroshima style okonomiyaki and are ok with paying a bit more.
