We have ordered from Pizza Al Bacio on multiple occasions, each time it being very good. This evening we ordered a large pepperoni pizza and a personal pizza with mushrooms. Love that they use fresh mushrooms and not canned - it makes such a difference in taste. We have never dined in, but we've gotten take out plenty of times. Unfortunately I placed an order this evening and once the time passed that my food was to be delivered I called to find out what was going on? Only to be told that my food had not been picked up & they'd could call to see why no one was there yet. I waited another 25 mins & called back to find out that a driver should be at the restaurant soon to pick up the food & deliver it. The food will be over 40 minutes late & cold. If you are going to use a 3rd party it is still your responsibility to make sure the food is delivered according to the timing. Very disappointed that they never reached out to the driver prior to my call & even more so that they never called back to advise the outcome. When I called back to find out the status the man I spoke with was rude, & said not our problem not our fault. This is the best food in the entire area!!! Since I moved down here from NY I have been trying to find and Italian meal fit to eat (even just a decent pizza). I had never tried this place because it was more Italian food than pizza that I was looking for. My wife took me there because she used to work at another restaurant with the owners. I had a pizza that rivals any pizza I've ever had, and I'm career military so I have eaten all over the world. My wife got a pasta dish that I challenge you to find it's equal anywhere. The staff were probably the friendliest I've ever dealt with. I would recommend this place over my dear departed grandmother's home cooking. We order from here often because they are quick and have delivery. Their food has always been very good. Lately for about the last few months I have been disappointed. The pizza has been not fully cooked with a pale crust and cheese unmelted. It has also been very soggy. I have thrown it out twice. My cheesesteaks also have been wet and soggy and fall out of the rolls. I'm an Italian Philly girl who is very discerning in both my pizza and my steaks. If you want our continued patronage your pizza crust needs to be a hair thicker to stand up and bake it so it is crusty and brown on the bottom. Also your steaks need to be toasted with sauce and cheese on top. Try buying authentic Amoroso rolls for that chew on the outside and pillow inside. Thanks! read more

The dough was delicious, and the toppings were fresh and high-end: kalamata olives, fresh mushrooms, quality sauce, fresh basil, and more. We ordered a White Bruschetta Pizza, which often isn't done well by other pizza joints. Typically, with the lack of sauce, this pizza dries out. I was hesitant to order one from here, given my bad experiences with the type from other places. However, I am so glad I got to try this pizza from here before giving up on it entirely! This is most likely the best hidden gem in York. They are staffed by people from Sicily so the authenticity is there, and the quality of the food is a notch above other restaurants. The specialty pizzas really are delicious, and don't forget the cannoli for dessert! Friendly employees as well. I'm no expert in Italian food, but we've brought a family friend over who lived for ten years in Italy, and she vouched for the authenticity of several types of pizza, including the arugula and ham (give that a try if you want something different). I also have had good experiences with the subs and fries. I'm a fan of the Italian one, personally. All in all, you won't go wrong with this place. Check it out if you haven't. We ordered from Pizza Al Bacio since it's lent and there aren't many other meatless options in York. My uncle had eaten here many times before and was a huge fan. We went with a large cheese and large veggie pizza. I have to say, especially for York, it was on the the pricier end. After tip, it ended up being $40 for 2 large pizzas which is high even for the DC area. However, the pizzas were high quality and fresh. So, what is it about York that places some of their best culinary experiences in the most obscure locations? Pizza Al Bacio is two minutes off the Emigsville exit of I-83, two minutes off the U.S. 30 "miracle mile." It sits in a modern but nearly deserted strip in a residential area, surrounded by what feels like millions of townhouses. You will need Google Maps to get there the first time. It is very, very good pizza. We visited for the first time on Labor Day afternoon. Your basic pizzeria space, about 10 tables. They offer their pizza in medium and large. The medium is a meal for two people, but there are so many good options, a party of two probably wants to order their own pizzas and take half home. The menu is very deep. My wife had a White Bruschetta Pizza. Mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, two kinds of olives and basil. She said it was delicious. Myself, I saw they had a Shrimp Alfredo Pizza, but I didn't feel like Alfredo sauce on my pizza. So I asked if I could get shrimp as an ingredient on a regular pizza. No problem. My pizza was a shrimp/onion/extra cheese. Quality stuff. They claim their dough to be made fresh every day. It tastes and feels like it. Good enough that you eat the crust after the goodies are gone. And the sauce ... authentic and delicious. Enough olive oil that you see some on your plate after picking it up. Tart, tangy. I probably got 20 good-sized shrimp on my pizza. Garlic knots appetizer ... superb. Hot, tasty and with a side of that sweet sauce. Now, I will say it's not particularly cheap. Our bill for that was $42 (I'm sure the shrimp didn't help). Yesterday we had a pizza & misc items delivered to our home. I have always enjoyed their products but I just had to write this so I could express what an exceptional experience this was for us. Weather was very rainy and we opted out of leaving our nice dry home. Person answering the phone was courteous while taking our order. We were told delivery would be about 40 minutes. We received our order in less than 30 minutes. Food was hot and one of the very best pizza's we had every eaten. Our delivery man was also very clean cut, polite and impressive! Reading the reviews and perusing the pictures I was really excited to try Pizza Al Bacio, but unfortunately they fell short in several aspects of the order. My fiancée and I placed our order for a large house special pizza and buffalo wings which totaled roughly 33 dollars. It took us well over 45 minutes to receive our food, and when we did receive our food the pizza could best be described as subpar. There was practically no sauce on the pizza and the crust was raw. When picking this thing up it practically fell apart. The pizza also had almost no flavor despite the toppings on it. I've never been so let down by a restaurant in my life. The combination of the slow service, the price, and subpar food ensures that I'll never order from Pizza Al Bacio again. I have eaten at dozens of Italian restaurants in York, PA, some terrible, some so-so, some average, some great, but Pizza al Bacio is amazing. I haven't found anything on the menu that I don't like. Tried a couple of pizza's from here because of the very favorable reviews on Yelp, and I have to agree, they make a very good pizza here. We tried their Pizza Al Bacio as well as the White Bruschetta pizza. Both were very good, but now I want to try a few different ones, as well. Glad we found them, as they are in an odd location that has very little traffic going by. But it's definitely worth the trip to get their pizza, and they are worth the extra cost (a 5 topping pizza here is $18 for a large, which is going to be higher than Little Caesars or even Pizza Hut). But their ingredients are fresh & flavorful, and the pizzas were delicious. We will be back to try some different ones. read more
