So me and my girlfriend arrived at 9:12, we called ahead and they said they closed at ten so we assumed we were on time. We arrived about 5 minutes after we called, we were very close. We asked for two beers, then asked about pizza specials the lady said sorry the kitchen is closed. We said we just called why didn't you tell us that, and she said we're still open you can get soda or beer. So mt review is based entirely on service as I've never had the food. read more

I'm a local. Pizza barn has good food. The vibe however is like a small town bar, where everyone knows each other, and seems to be complacent with slow service. I think the bartenders aka the waitresses, are slow and unprofessional, yelling at customers to come up front to order when they're ready. I know it's not their fault that the restaurant is understaffed. But one waitress/bartender for a weekend/nfl playoff weekend was a little much. After placing our order the waitress' shift was over, and she made us cash out our large food and drink order after being there for only 15 minutes. We were forced to start a new tab even though we were still waiting for our food. I won't be returning. read more

Just moved to La Verne. We were really hopeful ordering from Pizza Barn. Person on the phone was friendly, it was nearby, and lots of great reviews. We spent last year in New Jersey near some authentic Italian bars, pizza, and sub/hero/hoagie shops. Went in, good beers on tap, nice people on staff, a good crowd of people at the bar watching the US Open. Sadly, the pizza (plain cheese) was terrible, tasted like high school cafeteria pizza. The Italian sub was also subpar, the main failure being the bread. The meatballs on the meatball sub were good, but again the bread was awful. Not crisp or hearty, but soft and soggy. Not sure what all the great reviews are about, but we'll look elsewhere. read more

This review is on a take-out order. We were told the order would be available in a half hr and it was. We ordered the spaghetti dinner (included a side salad & garlic bread), a lg pizza (half pepperoni, half cheese), and a side of garlic cheese bread. The portions of each meal were very decent. However, the taste was mediocre to say the least. We were all surprised since we had read reviews here about how great it's supposed to be. The price for our dinner was inexpensive ($25), but the overall taste was dissatisfying. We wonder if the "Ultimate Sandwich" is what we should've ordered...but, we're ok with never finding out. read more

My wife and I tried out the Pizza barn in Laverne and despite a few drawbacks, were quite impressed. We had been out shopping and nearby and though we would stop in. Heard about this place from the local food critics that this place as good. Parking was a little difficult on that Friday evening in the rain but not bad. This place was very busy when we walked in and not wholly impressive looking. There was only one girl working the counter and serving, so service as kind of slow. We ordered our pizza and decided to have a beer while we waited about 45 minutes for our pizza. Yes, a little long. But I don't think they were staffed so well that night but will definitely come back. We will just call ahead now that we know what they have on the menu. We ordered a large beer that was very reasonably priced and were happy to discover that the beer was a 64oz monster beer! Wasn't expecting that! They of course had some good craft beer on tap to choose from. This made the wait very worth while as we watched the Dodger game. We ordered a large 1/2 Pepperoni and 1/2 sausage with bell peppers and mushrooms. This pizza was one of the best pizza's we have had in a long time. This place was great! The sandwiches look delicious as well. We can wait to come back and try other things on the menu. I think Pizza Barn is a hidden gem in Laverne and unless you live there you might not even know about this place. The prices were reasonable and well worth driving to. read more

This mom and pop place has great customer service and whatever spices they use for their pizza are just finger-licking good. My experience each time has been great. I typically call ahead and just pick up. Prices for items are reasonable and the quality of the food is awesome! I personally like the cheese bread and the meat suave they give for dipping is-well, you must try it. The owner seems to be very involved and always seems to pride himself on making sure his customers are happy. I've been here plenty of times and I've never seen nor heard someone complain. I'd recommend this local gem to anyone who likes good o' traditional pizza. It's definitely a comforting food. read more

I'm going to give this place an extra star for the atmosphere even though I got my pizza to go. I tried a cheese pizza here. I remember the cheese tasting a little plastic-y. It just wasn't the best. BUT I must say, while waiting for the pizza I saw a table being delivered some sort of salady pizza kind of thing that looked pretty good. Went there with my kids for dinner. I have been there before so expected the laid back atmosphere. Service was average at best, with one person taking orders and tending to the bar area. For a Friday night I was expecting better service. The meatball marinara sandwich was served hot and the flavor of the meatballs adn the bread tasted good, but the sauce tasted bitter. As if the quality of tomato was not there. The flavor of the cheese was amazing, and the dinner salad was crisp. Just visited this place for the first time. It's a Saturday night and completely dead when we came. A women with dark brown hair was at the register when we entered. We asked her a question regarding a item on the menu and at the same time the phone rang so she slammed a menu in front of us and ignored our question and answered the phone and ignored us and went ahead and took the phone order. 20-25 minutes later we received our food and well over all the food wasn't bad but service was sucked. read more

Solid pizza place. The Mexican pizza is very good, especially if you load up on the jalapenos. Another good bet is the Ultimate Sandwich. Sort of a cross between a calzone and a turkey sandwich. Nice and dark, a few video games, and what appears to be an active, local drinking hangout. read more

Ah, barn, sweet barn. I've had the pizza here maybe twice and it's decent. I've never had that special sandwich pizza as it's not vegetarian friendly but it looks cool. I'm "the duke" here because, sadly, it's one of the better places in the area to stop in and have some beers. The prices are decent and the special prices are great (Mondays, Tuesdays). The environment could be better. The stools are old and painful and so are the other regular bar flies and I don't believe there's a single window. The bartenders are nice. Anyway, it's definitely an A-OK place. read more

I never paid close attention to this place - I would just see a sign in the corner that said "Pizza Barn" but I never thought anything about it. But then I started hearing from people about how good it was - even though it is a little hole in the wall, they raved about the food. So I took my husband and son here over the weekend and we were pleasantly surprised. When you first walk in, it looks like the bar is the focal point with tables and chairs around. We ordered an XL pizza (which is more like a large size) with a green salad to share. We ate our salad first and my husband commented on how long the pizza was taking to get to our table. But once it came out, it was totally worth the wait. They sliced the pizza into smaller slices than the norm and the crust was perfect. Next time, we want to try that ultimate sandwich. Went here for lunch with a couple of the guys that I work with. Service was pretty good and food was also pretty good. Had a sandwich but it looked more like a pizza... dough on the bottom, meat and veggies in the middle, and another layer of dough on top. Reminded me of a Mexican Pizza at Taco Bell... only much better. The only reason it reminded me of the Mexican Pizza is because the top and bottom dough was somewhat crispy. I would have given them 5 starts, but well, we ordered two Stella Artois beers and what came tasted more like Bud light. For you beer drinkers, you know there is a HUGE difference. Went here last night for their Taco Thursday. Arrived at 7PM with 3 people in our party. We ordered 13 tacos total for the table. Our food finally arrived at 8:05PM. When we asked what was taking so long the server stated that there was a large party in front of us but how can it possibly take over an hour to make tacos??? I had to go to the register to get our bill and the server had to ask me where we were sitting. Really? She waited on us!!! And the place is not that big... The tacos are pretty tasty but since this is not our first experience with slow delivery of food on Taco Thursday we will choose to go somewhere else the next time. read more
