On a slow Saturday evening with no line, I would have thought a greeting may start the mood off positively. It seems that this business focuses more attention to the regular customers than new visitors. I cringed at the sight of a dirty plate with a peeled off piece of butter label. The food was okay and the portions were larger than most. Too bad the chocolate cake was dried up and seemed to taste better with vanilla ice cream to sop up. BUT: the dishes have gotten inconsistent. I had linguine with shrimp--extremely tasty--but for $16 there were only 3.5 shrimp in it! I was this restaurant (Pizza Beat) last night and could not have had a worse experience. Our waiter essentially ignored us. The party at the table next to ours came in after us, yet they got their order taken before ours and were finished their meal before we ever got our food. The waiter was constantly checking in on this other party and kidding around with them in Spanish. My impression was that this waiter did not give us as good of service because we did not speak Spanish. Moreover, when I complained to the manager, she did nothing to help this situation. Ok ballbreaker king Nunu bitches and moans like always he once ordered dessert to take out and gave it a 100 point inspection and it failed what a pain. As for PORCELLI. When I'm in New York, and it's time to have a pizza dinner with family, Pizza Beat is a great place to go. Pizza's consistently good, and the rest of the food is decent. We had fried calamari. They tasted like they were cooked in older oil, and the squid was a little chewy, but marinara was quite good. We also had clams oreganata, which were excellent. Service was suboptimal. He was quite busy, but acted a little like he really couldn't be bothered serving our table at times. Price was good. Overall, pretty happy with the food though, and that makes up for it. read more

Went here for a party the waiter Eddie handle the large crowd fantastically. Everyone was happy with his service's he was friendly and quick and engaged the crowd. The food was very good, we were served salad already dressed and bruschetta and warm bread. We then moved onto penne ala vodka which was quite tasty. I then had chicken parm which tasted great nice and thin and a large portion, my wife had the chicken francaise which she enjoyed. Desert came from outside and they served coffee. Pizza Beat is good eating, huge portions, a reasonably priced, family friendly setting. As stated by other reviewers, there is no ambience, so don't be surprised. Not a fan. The pizza is crispy yet tasteless. I needed to add way too much grated cheese. My pasta carbonara was beyond greasy. I should not see pools oil in my plate! Come on! So I would like to give this zero stars but I can't because the previous 2 times I came to this establishment it was "decent". I put that in quotations since it still took a good amount of time to get service. So the last time I came here is the reason this review is coming to fruition. Normally the person in the front always has a face but whatever it's ignorable. We where seated (me and my fiancé) and we never even received water. All we had was menus to stare at. Looked around the restaurant was empty, maybe 3 families (couples and 1 family). Thought it was that, then realized they legit just forgot. 20 minutes later... nothing.... we didn't even see anyone look our way. So we left... lesson learned don't be Minority.... I understand that this establishment has been purchased by new owners and they are attempting to cater to a higher class. Forty Years of Serving my Family! It was 1978 when my family and I first visited Pizza Beat. Last month we took my Grandson Thomas there on his 3 month birthday. More than 34 years ago we carried my son Joe in on his 2 month birthday. My wife and I were first introduced to Pizza Beat by my in-laws in July of 1978 and after all these years things are still the same. Great food and even more important great service. The head chef Miguel has been with Pizza Beat many years learning under the former head chef Thomas. Their concept is simple-good quality food and be consistent every time you serve the same dish. My two favorite dishes that are a must are the Mussels Fra- Divalo and Chicken Marsala. I must admit I have tried everything on the menu and it is all good. Equal to the food is the service. The minute you walk in they treat you like family. It seems like yesterday when they gave my son the crusty hard end of an Italian bread loaf to suck on while we enjoyed our food and it was then that my Joe fell in love with Italian food. I was recently at Pizza Beat for a baby shower in their private room. As one of the organizers and contact persons for my best friends shower I can truly say the management and staff at Pizza Beat were truly exceptional. From day 1 when I met owner Doriana she made it clear that our happiness and satisfaction was their main concern. They eagerly and quickly answered any questions we had. They responded to every request to view the venue (we checked it out a few times to figure out seating) and for information with a smile and as soon as possible. They reviewed all options with us thoroughly and assured us that we would be well taken care of and we were. Even with last minute seating changes they did not miss a beat. At the event when Doriana was present as was Tony to oversee everything and make sure everything went smoothly. Our head server Oscar made sure of that. He consistently and frequently checked in with me to make sure we were on the time table I wanted. He adjusted our schedule as needed for all the activities we had planned, all the while making sure there was never an empty glass or plate. They maneuvered around the room seamlessly never disturbing or interrupting our games, our meals, or our speeches. The food we were served was always perfectly timed to come out fresh and delicious. Our guest even asked for extra and without hesitation the Oscar and the kitchen made it happen and in a timely fashion. I have never written such a review for an establishment even ones that I frequent or am a regular at. I had to write this because the service Pizza Beat provided was beyond exceptional! My parents and I through a 30th Birthday Party for my siblings who are twins. I had never eaten here before but my my family members are regulars and always tell me how good the food is and how reasonably priced everything is. They did a wonderful job with the party. We had a group of about 40 people. They gave us the back room, it was very spacious and private. They were very accommodating and let me decorate as I pleased , they even offered to take a picture off the wall so I could hang up a Birthday banner. The food was excellent and kept coming! We did a family style option. Starting with a cold antipasto , fried calamari and bruschetta. Everything was hot and very tasty. Second course was pasta, penne ala vodka and linguine in white clam sauce. The penne ala vodka was amazing , the best I have ever had! For the main course we had eggplant parmigiana, chicken parmigiana and chicken Marsala. Every dish was very good! Chicken was tender and eggplant was delicious! Everyone kept raving about how good the food was! A family oriented Resturant, not fancy but not your typical pizzeria! A must try for sure! read more

They gave me duck sauce with my chicken tenders and French fries which I thought was very good (I'm a very picky eater). The only thing was the waiter was very impatient when we were ordering. I've been coming to Pizza Beat since I was in diapers. So it's been 24+ years, and as a loyal/long-term customer, I can tell you better than anyone that this place is THE ABSOLUTE BEST. The food is so amazing. And even though I always get the same thing every time I go, I literally would recommend everything on the menu. The dishes come complete with soup/salad, a side, and bread. I usually come here for dinner but it's a great place to grab pizza as well, which is absolutely fantastic. My family has been coming here for over 30 years and it is the perfect Italian family restaurant. I remember coming here countless times as a kid, and it's always been my absolute favorite. The staff is wonderful and have been there for decades. Many of them even remember when my deceased grandparents used to come to Pizza Beat back in the day! This restauarant will always be my family's favorite. It is very special to me and will always have a special place in my heart. It's been there for so many years and is not going anywhere! That should tell you something. I adore this place and will be bringing my future kids here one day, just like I grew up here! I never thought I would write an online review but I felt like I had to share this experience. I came here with my boyfriend a few months ago on a very slow night. Our server was young and seemed to be very new and inexperienced but that didn't bother us. we were actually being patient with him since we're both servers as well. We ordered apps and entrees and the apps were taking forever to come out. After waiting a long time our entrees came out. We asked the server what happened to our apps and he said "they didn't come out? Uhh do you still want them?" we said yes bc we were looking forward to the mussels. We didn't complain, we just ate our very mediocre food. My tortellinis tasted like the ones my mom buys from shop rite. When we finished we ordered coffees and asked for the check. At this point it was 10 on the dot which is the time they close and my boyfriend was putting his card in the checkbook. After this unpleasant experience a woman approaches the table who seemed to be a manger/owner? I'm not sure and says "no offense but we're closed". my boyfriend looks at her and she actually says it again. He says okay but we're paying right now. I could deal with the fact that the server was inexperienced, that our apps didn't come out when they were supposed to and that our food was disappointing, what bothered me is that someone who is obviously some kind of management had the nerve to say that to us after all that happened. If anything she should have apologized. That was extremely rude. The only reason we were leaving late was because the food took forever to come out and it literally just turned 10 when she said that. I work in the business and I would never say that to any my tables who stay WAY PAST the closing time and neither would any one of my managers. That is completely unacceptable to say to a table. Very disappointed in the food here with the new owners :-( I have been going here and enjoying their food for over 50 years. But have to say today's meal was very much unacceptable. The penne ala vodka pasta was extremely bland, the alone we are still trying to figure out where the cheese is under all that dough. Garlic bread with mozzarella was soggy as hell cannot figure out how the mozzarella was melted and bread still not crisp? Not sure if after over 50 years of going to this restaurant if we will return. It breaks my heart to write this but know many friends who have grown up going here and still do need to know that the quality of their food has gone down hill. I don't review very often but had to for this place. I'll be brief. The "salad" is a handful of iceberg lettuce, 2 slices of grape tomato and 2 slices of cucumber. The cap must have fallen off of the dressing bottle because this chintzy serving was was soaked in 2nd rate 'Quasi-Italian' dressing. The ziti was the texture of oatmeal. The industrial strength sauce was bland. By the way, you are permitted to have tomato sauce ONLY. Any other type of sauce is $3 extra. The sangria was sans-alcohol. At $28 for a carafe you don't need to worry about d.w.i. You do better ordering a bottle of fruit punch. The veal marsala was decent and gets the one star I've given. The waitress clearly had better things to do than to serve us. Overall, this place is over-priced and a poor value. You will do better at any neighborhood pizza joint at half the price. read more

Today I went to this place with a friend. I went there for pizza. I ended up getting an eggplant with cheese for the appetizer and it was delicious and the pizza for get about it, even better! I have a very sensitive stomach and tend to get acids and to my amazement I haven't get any stomach issues thanks to their quality of ingredients they use. I order a pizza with tomatoes, mushrooms, and ham. It was well cooked and they don't use a lot of spices which is good for your health.. I recommend this place specially for pizza. My friend got a blue moon beer, and i got a soda. I only spent $40. read more

Where do I begin? May have been the worst dining experience I ever had. Pathetic service and bad food are on the menu!! First we waited 15 minutes for water and that was after the bread was served. Had to get up and ask someone else for water. Then they served garlic bread that tasted sour and we returned it. I ordered a sweet sausage wedge and they brought me a meatball wedge. Again I had to get up to tell someone other than my waiter, that I ordered a sweet sausage wedge. My wife ordered spaggetti with meatball and sausage. The sauce was bland, the meatball was dry and bland, and the "sweet" sausage had absolutely zero flavor and tasted as if were sitting in water for three days straight!! These were not sweet Italian sausages at all!!! When I tasted those sorry pathetic sausages I cancelled my order. The waiter said "ok" and didnt even ask me if I wanted anything else. I was left there to eat nothing!! Then to make matters even worse I spoke with the owner about the water and wrong order and he said to me that you didnt order, you werent there, your wife did, and she ordered the meatball wedge for you. WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE considering the owner wasnt there either!! Then he called over the pathectic exuse for a waiter and told him that I "complained". So now he left me there to argue with the waiter. How unproffesional can you be. I was talking to boss not the waiter. Then the waiter says "well first of all...." At that point I walked out and said have a nice day!!! Seemed to me at this point they just didnt want my kind there. Dont even look at this place!!!! I mean how do you mess up spaggetti and meatballs and Italian sausages in the first place. No sorries, or can I get you something else? They didnt even care at all.
