After a long walk through South Coast Plaza on New Year's Day I was craving pizza. I looked up what restaurants were open and close by and Pizza D'Oro came up. It was still early, about 6:00 pm. I was seated right away in one of the several booths available. I looked at the menu, which was under glass on the table top. Even though I wanted pizza, I saw that their daily special was spaghetti with salad and garlic bread and your choice of a meatball or a sausage and the waitress told me I could have one of each so that that's what I decided on. I also ordered a glass of their Chianti to go with everything. The waitress C.J. was charming! We decided that I would get the spaghetti and if I wanted a slice of pizza later that was also in the menu. First, the salad came out and it was the most delicious salad I've ever had better than a lot of salads at high-end restaurants. The dressing was a mixture of their Italian and ranch, which was really good. (I ate it so fast that I had to ask the waitress to bring me one for a photo only) Then the plate of spaghetti came out and it was so big. Very generous serving. I could only eat a quarter of it. Delicious! The place got packed very quickly with people lining up to order. There was a gentleman who ordered a slice of pizza and something else and he ordered beer while he was waiting and because it was so packed he was standing up so I offered him to sit at my booth. He introduced himself and leaning over the table to shake my hand he knocked my wine over into my spaghetti. Haha. Immediately offered to buy me another glass. CJ felt bad so she replaced my food with a new order which I took home. It was so much food that it will be feeding me for the next couple days. I highly recommend this place for the Ambiance, service and the amazing food. They have daily specials, which are posted. Everything looks delicious. It was evident by the size of the crowd. We ordered a party pack for delivery. There was a promo where delivery was free if we lived within 4 miles of their location and also spent $100+. I believe it's usually $150+, but they lowered it during quarantine. So I can't comment on a restaurant experience, but I can say ordering was easy and customer service was great! Their party pack includes a pizza, pasta dish, salad, and garlic bread - all huge quantities! They let us sub a second pizza over pasta since I figured that would be easier for people to serve and eat. This deal is meant for 30+ people and came out to around $150 before tip, so $5ish per person for a full and quality meal. Value is definitely there for catering and/or serving lots of people! The pizzas are so big that they don't really even fit through a door frame. Quite the sight to see! read more

Instant Fan! I always cry a little when trying to find a great pizza place via a service like Yelp. HOWEVER, this was a slam dunk when I really needed it. Order a Ham and Pineapple with some meatballs on the side and a couple beers, and the delivery was very quick, the pizza was unreal. I ate it for three days. This is my favorite pizza spot in OC! The best prices for the largest portions. I always get a large slice because the giant is just too big for me. Usually 1-2 toppings is enough because the slice itself will have you so full. My first time there, I got excited and got 3-4 toppings. The slices are heavy! So top at your own risk lol. Tried the Giant Mozzarella Ball and it was veryyyy cheesy! Next time I'll try it with meat sauce instead of marinara. Parking lot always has spots, but the restaurant inside is pretty small. Been here many times, but today was the worst service ever. Order a slice of pizza and a small salad. OVER 25 minutes later, after asking if my slice was ready, did it come out. Someone else came in and asked how long it would take and the server said 10-15 minutes. Don't know why mine took so damn long. Never had this problem. Not only are the owners of the restaurant affected but all the workers as well that has their hours reduced and cut. This is my all time favorite Italian place in Costa Mesa! This little mom and pop has been in business since 1977 and has the best Italian food at a great price! You can't a better deal or better service. It's cozy and has a warm fuzzy feeling for your tummy. There a ton of options for the finickiest of eaters. Whether you're a pizza, pasta or salad person, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. From the appetizers to the garlic bread and everything in between, the food is amazing! I am very partial to the pasta. This is the only place that I know that has pasta puttanesca as a regular menu item. That is one of the several house specialties that is one of my favorites. The seafood pastas are out of this world. You can order whole pizzas but you can get them by the slice. Their giant slices are as long your forearm. Nearly all menu items are served with with your choice of salad or the soup of the day and all come with toasty garlic bread. There are daily menu specials which discount the already affordable prices. Lunch specials are available every day of the week, including weekends. That's how good this place is.. We tried the Eggplant Parmigian with Penne Marinara (amazing), the Chicken Parmigian with Spaghetti Marinara (mind-blowing) and the Shrimp Scampi over Spaghetti (life-changing). Our server, Nick the III truly represents everything good about Italian culture: great friendly demeanor, upbeat attitude, hard work and a love for cuisine. First off the prices.... You can't find a better place offering you all you can eat spaghetti with meat sauce for $6.95 and lasagna for $7.95 on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. Comes with a few delicious slices of garlic bread and small Italian salad upon request. Hands down the best deal in the area. The meat sauce is very tasty on the spaghetti. If you are not feeling either go for the Veal parmigiana or just get a huge slice of pizza which puts the NY style pizzas to shame in terms of size. You can get a one topping slice and a drink for less than $6 at lunch. Another great deal. The whole menu is very reasonable in terms of cost. "King size Hawaiian Pizza" This is my 3rd ordering with curbside-pick up with this place. I have not tried any other food rather than pizza. I used to order from Z-pizza all the time but, after having a experience with this place I quitted that place.
