We split the steak, carrots, and fingerling potatoes with an amazing sauce! There was enough for us to split it into two. The wine was amazing from local wineries, the waitress was sweet and friendly and had grear service. Everyone was dressed super nice & when we asked for recommendations of wine with our dinner, they had a great pairing. We wish we could've checked outside, but there was a wedding going on. We will definitely be back to check out the outside area and I definitely recommend!!

The main seating…read morearea is actually downstairs - there is one room that my friend calls the "cave" room, it opens up to an actual mine that was used. So if you like those Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes, then you would like sitting next to the mine for sure. It's roped off but you can hear the water dripping and it is naturally cool. The structure was originally built as a hotel in 1853 and has been well preserved. I ordered their Smith Flat House salad ($10) and the Jambalaya Risotto ($34) which consisted of Cajun-marinated prawns, lobster meat, Andouille sausage, grilled sweet corn with saffron chicken risotto. Definitely had a bit of a kick to it, the risotto was done well. My pet peeve is mushy risotto, it needs to have a slight bite to it which this one had thankfully. Love the fact that this place serves up local wines -- I couldn't recall the wine I had and they do not have their wine menu on their website. If you have the opportunity to visit, I'd recommend a glass of red from Starfield (winery up the road).

We stoped by after wine tasting just before 2 pm. They welcomed us as if we were family. Amazing service and company. For the record, they are closed between 2-4 pm. Make sure you get there early for the most amazing food in NORCAL. Food: The menu has a wide variety for everyone. On this day, we chose the Carne Asada Fries. Hands down the best any of us tasted. There were four of us and we all shared it and all equally satisfied. It's a meal on its own. Do not pass this up! We each order sandwiches; Turkey Club and Pastrami Reuben. Both with sweet potatoes. We asked if we could share the sandwiches. They quickly and very friendly said, of course. All four of us enjoyed our 1/2 sandwiches. One of us stated they were the best he has tasted in over 20 years. Every one of us was exceedingly pleased with our meals. We will be making this a regular stop on our wine tasting journeys. We already stated that breakfast will be our next sampling. This really is a gem hidden away in the beautiful El Dorado Wine Country. And it is most definitely worth the trip! We all live in Sacramento and this will be our place when we go to Too Good Caves once a quarter; or sooner. Tell them James sent you!

I ordered the lamb persillade and my husband had the NY strip steak. We also ordered the bacon brussels sprouts. My lamb was cooked perfectly and not overly seasoned. My husband's steak was a beautiful cut of meat, cooked perfectly, but way over salted for my taste. The rolls were fresh out of the over and delish! The brussels sprouts yummy. The meals were served with what appeared to be frozen broccoli, which detracted a bit from the farm to fork vibe, but it was cooked well, so not reason to hate on it too much! We were super sad that we were too full to order dessert because they looked amazing!!

And thus, in my humble assessment, this place qualifies as a mom & pop joint. I visit friends in the Somerset area and I house-sit in the summers there and this is one of my go-to places. Their pizza is excellent and I feel that their employees are well trained as there is a consistency of high quality food that comes out of there. I seem to get the same pizzas as I'm content with what has become my standard orders, the meat pizza is one, the other veggie. And, I give props to the staff there, friendly as always. Aside from the food, the premises reminds me of an old-school pizza parlor, lots of elbow room in the dining area, a small arcade to entertain the young-'uns, and TV monitors to keep the ambience lively enough on slow days. The place is a nice boon to a rural area that doesn't have much in terms of selection. Of course that's coming from an urban rat that has dozens of choices beyond his doorstep, so it's quite a compliment.

I just paid 74 dollars for three little pizzas and when they were done I asked the clerk "how much ranch cups they give per pizza?" She said "two ranches per pizza " lol but she would not to that for me because I had 1 order. Please how does this make sense where I had to pay additional money for ranch when I was only asking for 6 cups of ranch. Two per pizza right? Lol. So silly how people loose customers right. Good luck and won't be coming back here ever again.
