As a vegetarian who enjoys eating vegan, I've loved Pizza Head for years. I was happy to hear the dining room was reopening on 314 Day. It's been closed since the pandemic. We decided to get some Pizza Head on 314 Day to get $3.14 slices and to sit in the dining room. Perfect service, pizza and location. Highly recommend!

We went for a slice but came home with a giant yummy pie! We weren't quiet sure what to make if the walk up and order format on a dark and chilly night. Being quite hungry we made a decision to upgrade from a few slices to a whole vegan pie. It turned out to be more spends than we expected ($32 for pepperoni with vegan cheese and tomato sauce ) but it was two meals for two people. And DELICIOUS! We will def return. So happy to have healthier pizza options that are tasty.

Wow, I never heard of this place until yesterday. This place is only carry out or eat outside where there are some seatings. There is a small window where you will go to pay and pick up your food. Yesterday I got 4 slices of cashew pepperoni pizza. They were good. I like the crust a lot. The pick up was smooth.

Pizza pizza read all about it! Boy oh boy you won't get double takes or will you as you walk down the street with the large but niche pizza boxes. Lots of vegan and non vegan options! If you think you won't be able to find something, wrong by friend! I enjoyed the pizzas but got mad heart burn from the vegan 'meatz' pizza. The ranch caught me off guard. Dillish. Recommend for an experience and to fill your pizza heart desires!

We ordered this last Friday night! We made our own pizza with vegan sausage, peppers, onion and regular cheese! There was a line at the pick up window, but we ordered ahead of time and was ready within minutes! You can order online and pick up or order at the window. I stopped by Pizza Head after an event on South Grand. I've heard a lot about this place and thought it was a great opportunity to finally try it. This isn't a sit down restaurant. Or at least it was not when I stopped by. You order at the walk up window, and depending on your order, it comes out fairly quickly. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but if I was this would be a great choice. They have vegan pepperoni and cheese. I opted for the dairy cheese slice, this is the only option by the slice that has your traditional cheese. I definitely would have loved some more options like veggies on it, but when you get a slice of pizza and not the entire thing, that's the name of the game. They sell whole pizzas as well, as well as beer. The slice was super delicious! Hot and crispy and has a really good seasoning on it. I was super pleased with the slice and would for sure stop by again.

Considering that I'm not a Vegan nor a fan... this was darn good pizza. The Foodtruck was parked on Locust in front of Ash Cigar Lounge and given that I had been enjoying Ash, I had to venture out and grab a bite. Thank goodness that they offer a non-vegan option.. but it is a vegetarian pizza instead. 12" Pizza with Sauce, Dairy Mozzerella, Onions and Bell Peppers. I was told it would only take 5 min, so I hung out right there to wait. Yep, 5 min later my order was ready. Pizza was hot, fresh and very tasty. Some parmesean cheese packets would have been great. Overall, a surprisingly good option.

I didn't realize this place was only take out until we got there but that's okay! The pizza was delicious and it was the perfect size for four adults. I wanted to try the vegan meat but ended up getting the utopian pizza which is all veggies. It was delicious!! There is outside sitting around the corner from the post office that is the property of pizza head and had 4 large picnic tables. The service was otherwise helpful and patient with us as we asked our questions. They send you a text when your pizza is ready. Will come back again :)

Pizza Head has some of the best pizza I've had. The crust is perfect- nice and thin in the center but with a deliciously doughy edge. Their toppings are all high quality, and the employees have all been really friendly. They only make 20" pies, but they're actually pretty light. Plus whatever you don't finish reheats beautifully in the oven the next day. I've picked up pizza in person many times, and also ordered delivery through Door Dash for a group at work, and the pizza arrived on time and in perfect condition. I was also able to order a vegan pizza, which my vegan colleagues really appreciated! Keep it up, Pizza Head!

I truly love coming to this pizza place because the pizza is really large and it is also vegan. Don't let that deter you from going because it's actually really delicious! The crust is nice and then the cheese is always delicious. The spinach and artichoke also is really tasty very flavorful. We had a little extra garlic on top. It was perfect. The only downside is you cannot enjoy your pizza inside. So we have to get it to go. So keep that in mind currently when we went in January 2023 no dining services they were seats outside but of course because it's January you don't wanna sit outside.

Delicious vegan meal! First time ordering! Got it delivery from their website! I ordered two hours before the time I wanted it and scheduled it. They contract out delivery with DoorDash which isn't my fave. Preference is actual delivery drivers from the pizza place like the old days. lol. The dasher arrived 15 mins before the delivery time and the pizza wasn't ready. The pizza wasn't ready until 5 mins after the delivery time so the dasher had to wait 20 mins for my order. A bit poopy for the delivery driver. Also not to mention was late for me but luckily I was fine with whatever. Overall really yummy but four stars because only one size pizza options and not a honestly their premade/specialty pizza options are super lackluster like no I don't want a fake meat lovers pizza, I want a veggie pizza. But to get the at I have to l build my own and pay millions of dollars adding every veggie. And the other option is spinach artichoke? Like I bet it's good but who has ever had that as a pizza??! Give me a veggie deluxe specialty pizza... Also they charge 4 dollars for vegan cheese on a whole pizza, that seems totally fine but then if you get half and half you have to pay 4 dollars twice for the two different vegan cheese options.... It should still be 4 dollars total not 8 because it's the same surface area. But okay good food but just annoying stuff like deliver and ordering and bad options.

Very good very good I love the crust it reminds me of a New York pizza and I would know. And I know pizza I grew up in Chicago and lived in new York for several years. Though I'm not vegan or vegetarian I could eat there meatless pepperoni all the time. The flavors are authentic and they know their way around a pie. The service is friendly and I love the walk up window. You can smell the aroma of brick oven pizza from down the block and there is nice outdoor seating near by. Street parking on Grand or near by side streets. Well worth a visit.

I was ranting about this place all weekend, so I figured it was time to leave a good review for them here. The pizza is amazing. I've been craving a good New York style pizza and haven't found any options nearby, but Pizza Head fits that spot perfectly. Much better than any chain pizza places nearby. Don't underestimate the size of these things. read more

Awesome! Good crust, great toppings, cool vibe (makes my young punk heart sing). It's a slightly "diy" environment, in other words, help yourself to plates, napkins, water, and plastic ware. The staff is pleasant and they are accommodating about half and half pizzas, including half vegan, half standard cheese. The cashew cheese is decent and I love the faux sausage and whatever garlic powder is sitting on the tables. My picky carnivore spouse was even pleased enough with the veggie pepperoni. All around wins here. read more

Had the vegan pizza on Mother's Day and gave been craving it ever since. It is delicious! Hard to believe that it is vegan, even the pepperoni is good and the cashew cheese is mouth watering. Picked up another one to put in the freezer and I live in Edwardsville! Will be back soon!!! read more

The food is okay and it mirrors NY Style slices however i think they lack options. The only option for vegans is a soft sauce with mock sausage. I'd rather go to soulard for vegan pizza. read more

Just because it's vegetarian/vegan, doesn't mean it's healthy. Heck, Oreos are vegan. If you're looking for a good, greasy slice of New York style pizza, Pizza Head is the place to go. It has a simple menu, but if you want a whole pie you can customize. Great atmosphere and great addition to south Grand. read more

Not great. I ordered a whole cheese pizza, so I got to try a lot before coming to my conclusion. My three roommates all tried it and no one gave a great review. The crust was not good. Pizzeoli and Melo's have better crusts, along with anything other than Dominos/Pizza Hut etc. The cheese and sauce were nothing special, so there just wasn't much to love. Some/more herbs might set the flavor off a bit. I would like meat (but I understand what he's doing) or at least better cheese(s). I would also expect more cheese on a NY pizza. Stingy toppings makes sense at Pizzeoli for Napoli style, but not NY style. The way they're targeting a very specific market doesn't appeal to my tastes much though, so you may like it. read more

Excellent NY style big slice pizza. Parking on Grand was easy, late night on a Saturday. Being a huge fan of Pizzeoli, I knew the Pizzahead experience would not only be delicious but also thought provoking. The owner Scott is always gracious w/his time & enjoys discussing the base ingredients. Attention to detail sets him apart from the competition. I was in town for work, and desperately looking for some vegan options. Pizza sounded awesome, so I went ahead and ordered the two slice vegan special and had it delivered. First off, the slices are huge. I'm stuffed from the two pieces I ate. When I first opened the box, I will admit the pizza did not look the greatest to me-probably because I'm not used to the style. It doesn't look like normal pizza, but that does not matter. When I started eating it....oh my gosh it was so delicious! Totally different than the typical Daiya cheese pizza. I would love to try more with additional toppings. If I'm ever in town again I will be sure to visit this place! read more

Pizza gets worse all the time. Lunch one slice. She gave me a slice that must have been sitting there for hours. Pepperoni old and dark on edges and chewy as gum. Flavor ok but not enough pepperoni even on a fresh slice. And could use a little more cheese. 3 strikes and your out. 3rd visit. read more

Since I moved to the area last fall, I've heard about Pizza Head but never stopped by until recently. It's tucked into a row of South Grand restaurants and you'll almost miss it if you don't keep an eye out. The pizza is delicious, and they have a vegan option as well. The slices are huge so it's a great deal for the price you pay. Highly recommend! read more

NY style pies with great dough and house-made cashew cheese. I love that they have vegan meats!!! The pepperoni is so good. I typically like veggie lovers pizza, but they conflicted with the cashew cheese and made it kind of gross and wet. Have eaten here several times since the veggie pizza and I got either cashew cheese only, or pepperoni and black olive. SO GOOD. read more

We really enjoyed this pizza. Vegan cheese and pepperoni were good. Lots of sauce, also good in my book. We watched them bring out a lot of steaming hot pizzas. For some reason when ours came out it was room temperature. Small beer selection. Only one high chair. read more

If you're looking for vegetarian/vegan lunch (or even dinner) options on south grand, this is the place to be. Imagine a divey punk rock pizza joint and that's just what you get when you walk through the door. If you've ever told anyone to turn down their music or you're not open to eating a meal that doesn't involve at least one meat, this place might not be for you. Seems to me it suits the neighborhood well. Never mind the fuddy duddy naysayers. read more

Great pizza and I love the 90s punk music while I ate. It was like I was in Portland and the 90s had never died. I got the vegan slices and they were delicious. Love the use of cashews instead of the usual plastic vegan cheese substitute used at most places. The crust was ridiculously good for a reheated slice of pizza, and the slices are big. I think their two slice lunch deal is a very good deal. I really appreciate this owner's commitment to offering solid, great tasting vegetarian/vegan options at both of his establishments. I may also be the only person sad to see the canned mushrooms go, it is a childhood thing, I just can't get into fresh mushrooms on a new york style pizza. read more

As a vegetarian, I was ridiculously excited to hear about the opening of Pizza Head. I like pretty much everything about this place except the price. It is so exciting to be able to eat a pepperoni pizza. Their large pizzas are ridiculously enormous. The food is fantastic. I love it all. I only wish it was slightly less pricey. read more

They didn't do a good job of letting us know the meat isn't real meat. We thought we had a pepperoni cheese pizza. I'm just now learning that the meat there isn't meat. Scary because some people have soy allergies. Also: music was too loud and the pizza was overpriced. read more

Had a slice of cheese pizza and it was pretty good. My friend had a slice of Pepperoni and didn't even realize it was vegan until I pointed it out to him. Always a good sign for a veg/an joint. The price of a slice was pretty inline with what other by the slice places charge. I've been to Pizzeoli several times and this pizza while obviously not the same and not cooked in the same method does not disappoint either. Great place to grab a slice of pizza and head out for a night on the town. I can see this becoming a frequent stop for me before a weekend night. read more

This is sincerely, I am not lying, the best pizza crust you can get in South City. The fact that they have vegan cheese and vegan meat is mind blowing. You would think that might freak people out. Maybe they wouldn't come in and order some pepperoni slices, because that's fringe or something. But they do, and by the time they realize it, they've also realized how freaking good the pizza is. You can order toppings if you pony up and buy the full 20" pizza, but be warned, it is huge, and no one should really eat more than two slices. I can't wait to go again, it's so freaking good. read more

This place is amazing. I love the atmosphere and their vegan pizza is super delicious. I love that you can walk in, order two slices and a beer for less than 10 bucks and walk out less than five minutes later with your food. The restaurant itself has a super punk vibe that fits perfectly to the area. I will for sure be back! read more

Don't know how I missed that this place was opening in my neck of the woods. Had a vegan cheese pizza the other night (delivered!) And it was very yummy, and ENORMOUS! I think I like the fancier pies at pizzeoli SLIGHTLY more (hence 4 stars) but it's different styles of pizza. I will be a regular. Thank you! read more

We ordered a vegan pizza with vegan pepperoni, mushrooms, spinach, and olives. The pizza cost $45 after typical tip. Yeah, at's right, a $45 pizza!!! The pizza had nearly an inch of their 'vegan cheese', which seemed like coarse cashews mixed with red sauce, and was the consistency of vomit. As they were about to bring the pizza to us I saw them pour nearly a cup of oil all over it. When they dropped it off, I asked if they had in fact just poured a ton of oil all over the pizza. He said that he did it so the pizza wouldn't dry out. Now, we're out $45 bucks and have to waste this entire pizza because it is seriously not good. Speaking of waste, this place only uses paper plates, plastic cups, and plastic silverware. It's 2017. Oil and trees are both resources that we can't be wasting because a company doesn't want to do some dishes. I would never recommend this place. As a vegan, it's always exciting when you see a new restaurant opening with vegan options. This was a huge let down. I could have ordered a vegan pizza from Whole Foods with all of the same toppings and good vegan cheese for $15 bucks, and it would have been a thousand times better. read more

Then a younger employee walked up to the counter and collected money. I'm hoping the older man was just having a bad day, but being rude in 2 different manners is not a good look. When we get home and started to enjoy this pie half way into eating a slice was a nice piece of rubber, kind of looking like a hair tie or something. Now that's a huge turn off. First experience and now the last. Sorry folks but bad attitude and a foreign object is at all not appealing.

The two bartenders welcomed us right away and told us they would take good care of us throughout the evening. My wife ordered an iced tea, and I started with an Old Fashioned. For an appetizer, we ordered the Toasted Ravioli ($14), which is handmade in-house and filled with ground beef, ricotta, and pecorino romano cheese, served with marinara sauce. It's one of the dishes featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. For dinner, my wife ordered the Chicken Marsala ($23), and I went with the Bolognese ($17), made with veal, pork, red wine gravy, cresta di gallo pasta, stracciatella, and Calabrian chili oil. The toasted ravioli arrived looking great. I tried one without the sauce first. The fresh pasta didn't fry up quite the way I expected. It was more flaky than crispy, and I was hoping for a little more crunch. The filling was decent but could have used a bit more seasoning and flavor. The marinara sauce also had a bitterness to it that wasn't my favorite. When our entrées arrived, both dishes looked and smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't quite live up to the presentation. My wife's Chicken Marsala had good flavor overall, but the side pasta was very gummy, and the sauce again had a bitter note that seemed to overpower the dish. My Bolognese was the biggest disappointment of the evening. When I think of Bolognese or a rich meat ragù, I usually expect a wider pasta such as pappardelle. The cresta di gallo pasta wasn't my favorite choice for the dish, and it also had a gummy texture. The sauce itself suffered from the same bitterness that we noticed throughout the meal. Looking back, I probably should have ordered the Carbonara once I realized the Bolognese wasn't being served with the type of pasta I was hoping for. Overall, the meal was okay, but it didn't quite meet the expectations we had after seeing the restaurant featured on television and reading the reviews. The service was excellent, and the bartenders did a fantastic job taking care of us. While this visit was a bit disappointing, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked great, and I would be willing to give Anthonino's another try and order something different.
