Pizza Lucé has been such an institution in my life since I can remember. I love how willing they are to hold community events (so many school fundraisers there) and how many different fun events they are always having. Service is always great and the place itself is always a nice level of busy, but not too loud or crowded. When I was a kid/teen their mac and cheese was my go to. It was always such a good combo of gooey in the middle but nicely cooked on the top. I unfortunately fear I would explode if I tried to eat that much dairy now, but it's okay because it let me branch out! My current fave is the Veggie Hulapeño pizza. I was a bit of a pineapple on pizza hater before trying this pizza (without any reason, I had never tried it), but after I tried it I was converted so quick. The sweet pineapple pairs so well with the salty and smokey veggie pepperoni. Ugh my mouth is watering thinking about it right now. Overall, Luce is just the best. Pizza Lucé always hits the spot when I'm looking for pizza. We went to Pizza Luce after a game with some friends. We got the Gluten Free Stuffed Shells and the Cheeseburger Pizza on a gluten free crust. I always like trying their monthly specials because they're sometimes weird combinations that always work out! I liked the Cheeseburger Pizza but wouldn't order the Gluten Free Stuffed Shells again. They were fun to try because they're gluten free but a little more cheese than I'd need as a meal on its own. I was very disappointed with their Fall Special "Harvest Salad" which was roasted sweet potato, pepitas, craisins, and feta over an arugula mix with maple vinaigrette. This should be pretty hard to mess up, as there is only one cooked ingredient, but unfortunately the roasted sweet potatoes were woefully undercooked. My first bite crunched, like I'd bitten into a carrot stick. The beautiful sweet and tender flavors of a properly roasted sweet potato are scarce - maybe a third of the pieces were cooked through enough to be at the least mushy, but nowhere near enough to develop any rich flavors. The rest of the salad was okay, but without the roasted sweet potatoes to balance things out, the bitter arugula dominated the taste. It's frustrating to me because it's not like the cooking on this is made to order - they have to be making a large batch of the sweet potatoes to then add to other dishes and salads, and a single tasting by anybody would have made it obvious there was a big problem. My advice to the restaurant is to at the very least check that your food is cooked before selling it and serving it to customers. The saving grace was the slice of pepperoni I got with the salad, which was fine. Crust had a nice golden edge and the pepperonis had just crisped up a tad to give it extra flavor and texture. read more

On this particular occasion to Pizza Luce, the love of my life and I chose to make the focaccia our appetizer. I absolutely loved this appetizer. You could taste how fresh it was. If the bread is good (or great), even mediocre food will shine. In this case, the pizza we got was the feature Christmas Story pizza. It had enough ingredients to satisfy both the wife and I. Normally we don't agree on pizza ever, however this was an amazing meal. Our server, Drew, was magnificent, timely, and knowledgeable about the menu. Pizza Lucé to the rescue! It had been a long day of watching basketball at the Target Center with a lot of walking. We were starving and really just wanted to wear comfy pants, watch a movie and lounge at our hotel. So, delivery pizza was a godsend. I popped online-- they have a lot of of options! From pizza to wings to salads to hoagies to pasta. They even offer pizza by the slice. We were in a no frills kind of mood. I ordered some garlic cheese toast, a cheese pizza and a pepperoni with some extra ranch on the side. It was delivered for FREE within thirty minutes. Pricing was reasonable. The garlic cheese toast was bomb-- I loved their marinara sauce. My kiddo inhaled his cheese pizza with no complaints. Overall, I'd order Pizza Lucé again! I went to Pizza Lucé with my dad about an hour before closing to watch March Madness and eat some food after a long day. The food was phenomenal, as was our server (a grad student at Minnesota). So kudos to our server and the kitchen. However, the 3 star review is for the treatment we received primarily from the manager. As someone who has worked in the service industry as a server and a bartender, I found it shocking that they were putting up all the chairs 20 mins before closing, including at the same long table we were literally sitting at. I've never been so clearly rushed out of a restaurant at exactly closing time, nor have I ever felt so pressured to leave and made to feel so very unwelcome. We weren't even the last table to leave, by the way. The music was turned off and they were doing all the little tricks to basically tell us to GTFO. They even turned off the game we were clearly watching which was just... rude. After closing out our check, she picked up my plate which still had a slice of pizza I was finishing, at which point I commented that she could chill because I was still eating it. I do NOT like giving service industry workers problems but this was ridiculous. I was told I had a bad attitude and could leave. My dad got upset at how she addressed me and spoke up that he had never been so visibly forced out of a restaurant. It was appalling. And listen, I totally get it when it's closing time and you want to go hooome. I don't like coming to restaurants close to closing for this reason and always try to be as polite, understanding, and as easy as serve as possible. But for a Friday night I found their behavior shocking and unacceptable. I wouldn't bother leaving a review if it wasn't management (NOT our server) who was treating us this way and allowing this to happen. This was a level of disrespect I've never witnessed as a service industry worker or a custy. Really killed an otherwise great experience. A shame! read more

This is our favorite pizza place in Minneapolis! We used to frequent here pre-pandemic and since it's been awhile, decided to make the drive to get our fix. It was definitely worth it! We visited the Selby location this time. Our server was friendly and attentive. We never felt ignored. We ordered a gluten-free baked potato pizza and regular classic, Maximus style. I loved the baked potato pizza. Sometimes I just need pizza without a red-sauce base. It was fantastic! And the group liked the gluten free crust better than the standard crust.
