A friend and I went to Pizza Pirate last night. It seemed to me they were very overwhelmed. The tables were not getting cleaned, the salad bar was a mess. The place was crowed with families. I ordered a personal size Crows Nest with white sauce, my friend ordered the Porky & Bess. She loved her pizza! 10 minutes after my friend got her pizza , when I went up to the counter to inquire about what happened to my pizza? The big burly guy behind the counter was very sorry (my pizza had been skipped) and made it right. I hope to try Pizza Pirate again for a better experience! read more

Not much to say aside from the pizzas are average. They name their pizzas with pirate themed names, but they're pizzas that are just not dazzling or flavorful in any particular way. The servers couldn't get the salad order right and I had to go up to the counter multiple times to get the right dressing. They served us the hot bread that was supposed to go with the salad at the end of our meal and no explanation what it was for...just plopped on our table. I thought it was to make up up for the mistakes early on, but the manager at the time did try to make up for the issue by giving us a different salad to-go. It's kid-friendly, but that's as much as it's got going for it in my opinion...I guess that's why the pizzas are made the way they are? Who knows maybe it was an off night. Unfortunately it was our first time there and likely our last. Ambrosia pizza around the corner is definitely a much better option. read more

Arrrrrrrrrrguably the best birthday dinner our daughter has ever had! Double thumbs up. We had an A+ experience here after attending nearby Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and are total converts. The staff was friendly, professional, and attentive, and even for our large group the food was fast and great. The party room was perfect for our group of 18, though it could easily have fit many more; and the games in the game room were a big hit with the kids. It's obvious folks at Pizza Pirate care about their customers and making sure everyone gets what they need. To give just one example we were consistently steered towards the right order, when we might easily have over-orderer. E.g. we ended up splitting fabulous ship's wheel sundaes between multiple ten-year-olds - and there were zero complaints, and a lot of delight. We already look forward to coming back every time we visit friends in Benicia or Six Flags! read more

Ohhh, the PP in the SS. *Translation for non-Benicians: Pizza Pirate in Solano Square* I have infinite memories in this place: The earliest was my friend Michael and I playing Dig Dug on the sitdown arcade game and hording the Andes mints that they used to have out on the counter. The most embarrassing graced me somewhere around age 9. My sister tackling me, mid-walk back to our table from the bathroom. I had somehow failed to get all of the toilet paper I had wiped with, into the toilet. I was parading through the place with a charmin train comin out of my pants. Countless pizza parties were had here, post-softball games. Memorizing the entire PP manual, taking the employment test and having the owner call me into his office and say, "I'm kind of concerned. We've never had anyone get a perfect score on this test. Are you sure you want to work here?" I remember working my way up from "floors" to "pizza" to "register" to "jr. supervisor." Eventually, there wasn't a position I didn't spend at least a little time in. I even got to be a part of the last known "all-night inspection". Assignments were placed on tags of paper and whatever you drew was yours to clean from midnight to 4 a.m. I drew the oven, which was roses compared to my friend's unlucky draw of "the women's bathroom". Man, if the walls of pizza pirate could talk. Some of my favorite memories were created during my time working there. Some, I'll even admit to. ;) It's changed a lot since then. Owners, atmosphere, menu items, layout and the most devastating - the crust. That last item is why I reluctantly pulled back a star. It's good, it's just not as good as it used to be. They do still have an amazing salad bar and freshly baked breads. It's still the pirate and it will always be the go to place, when old friends or family members roll into town. read more

I love the salad bar at Pizza Pirate. One of the best ever and super reasonable prices too. They also have soup of the day which is usually quite good. Try to get here around lunch time as the salad bar gets really picked over and messy as the day goes on. They do try to keep up with keeping it stocked and organized, however this depends on who's working that day. Same with bussing the tables. Sometimes good sometimes not so good. Clean restrooms and lots of parking. They actually have a few pirates working there. read more

Dear Pizza Pirate, Thank you for offering gluten free pizza crust from Still Riding. I appreciate it. I just wish that your prices were a bit cheaper, but I understand. I've had Still Riding crust at a bunch of different places and I would have to say that the preparation and quality of the ingredients used to make a gluten free pizza at Pizza Pirate comes in first. I ordered the Grand Mutiny, which comes with sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms. Tasty. I also ordered the potato skins and that's where this 5-star review really comes into play. Can I just say that your potato skins are the best I've eaten since Round Table did away with pizzatatoes over 10 years ago? In fact, it's been so long, that your potato skins may even be better. While they weren't "pizza potatoes", I'm going to see if you can make my potato skins with sauce, cheese and a pizza topping next time. If you could do that for me, this would be a 10 star review. I ordered takeout and the phone service was prompt and friendly. When I arrived I was greeted with a smile and even kinder service. I am really impressed, Pizza Pirate. I can't wait to come back to try your salad bar (it looked so tasty and fresh) and more of your potato skins (hopefully transformed into pizzatatoes). I have eaten here a couple of different times. Had not been in a while and I've been on an outing today with my wife and thought I would take her by for some pizza and salad. I was really talking up the salad bar and my wife agreed when she thought that it is a very good salad bar with lots of ingredients and a good variety. ordered a couple of salads some sodas and a small sausage mushroom and olive pizza. I used a Yelp coupon to get some garlic bread twists for free with our meal. Since my last visit, they have one of those newfangled soda machines that had the touch screen. Very easy to use. Wow I could have sworn that I had written a review on pizza pirate being that we come here fairly often. This is a cool family owned family friendly pizza parlor. I don't think I have had anything here that I don't like (and I'm not particularly fond of pizza). Me my wife and daughter love coming here and so do most of the people we know. The pizza is good with fresh ingredients, the wings are big and tasty, my daughter loves the soup, they have cold beer, my wife gets the wine, they have an arcade room for the kids, and they can win little prizes, and the beat thing in my opinion is the salad bar. It is probably the best salad bar I have ever been to. Always fresh always quick to refill low items. The salad bar is one of my main reasons for coming. Also the staff is always super friendly and helpful. So if you have never been give pizza pirate a try. read more

Our last order place of 02/18/2022 was dismal. the crust was so dry we had to add our own sauce. Plus! they forgot to add the pesto. As a pregnant woman with an insatiable pizza craving, this place is a godsend. The ingredients are fresh, generous, the dough is good quality, and the service is always great. It's a bit higher price than you would get at a chain, but the ingredients are much better quality so I am always willing to pay more. They also are very fast and delivery (for us) always comes early! What always seals the deal for us is how friendly and helpful the staff always is. I remember coming to Pizza Pirate ever since I was a little kid. They've always done an amazing job with decorating the restaurant and fitting the Pirate theme perfectly. Not only does this restaurant make me feel like i'm in a giant pirate ship, but they also have delicious pizza, some pretty awesome lunch specials, and an all you can eat salad bar! And if you're looking for a place to eat where you can get a break from the kids, just ship them off to the back room where they can play some arcade games instead being bothered with a thousand questions regarding the arrival time of their food. The best lunch special would have to be going on a Thursday or Friday. They do this rich and creamy open faced crab sandwich which includes a Salad Bar for only $6.55! Usually pizza crust becomes a canine snack at my household, but the Pirate makes them pretty good. It's good to the point where my dog probably hates the fact that he gets less of his share. I wouldn't dare feeding him the toppings so he is stuck with his normal dietary meal. We ordered a large half combo and half garlic chicken. Super yummy pizza! When I first walked into this place, I was like "ehhhhh." I mean, what was I supposed to expect? The name is Pizza Pirate hahaha. My boyfriend and I came here because he hasn't been here since he was about 13. The arcade was small, but a lot of kids were still excited to play the games for tickets and redeems little prizes. Games and pizza? What could go wrong? Anyway, we got two sodas, a salad, and a half "walk the plank" and half pepperoni pizza. The pizza was just the right crispy and soft. This place serves great pizza at great prices. They used to have an awesome salad bar but it is gone. Thanks Covid! That's not their fault. Hopefully someday it will be back. They still have salads on the menu as well as pastas and sandwiches and stuff. Met up with a friend to eat. We both got an 8" pizza for around 8$ each. That's cheaper than my normal fast food order! They had indoor and outdoor seating, friendly employees and excellent service. My friend and I were so busy talking that I accidentally left my purse there, out front where someone could have snatched it easily. I drove all the way home to Martinez and realized I had left it. I feel like part of the Tanner family every time I eat here... If you don't get this reference...then I'm just sad for you! This places reminds me of one of the Full House episodes, just not was G rated and colorful. It's actually much darker and more Pirates of the Caribbean, but still Full House-esque. A huge main attraction is their large salad bar. I'm a fan of this chilled, chafing dish assortment of salad delights. I am a self prescribed salad connoisseur and I am always on the prowl for the Asian crunchy noodles...and they have THEM! Bonus! Their ranch is also on point, so delish it's the only dressing I use. I truly enjoy supporting local businesses, but hot damn...this place isn't cheap! For three individual slices, three salad bars, and 2 sodas - it was $35! Although I throw this little complaint in there, I still support this wench lovin' place. I do appreciate they sell single slices of cheese or pepperoni for lunch. And by slice, think Costco size "slice" ...or a quarter of a medium pizza. No big deal, just do an extra 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. Another positive is that they are light handed with their sauce, which means I don't have to pop a Pecid AC for desert. Hats off to you PP, I appreciate that! My husband and I were headed to a friend's in Benicia and wanted to grab some food first. I had a 4-year old restaurant.com gift certificate for a place out there that had closed, so I hopped online and found that Pizza Pirate participates in the same deal. I bought a certificate and we headed over the bridge. PP was easy to find and we were able to easily find parking. We went in after a picture with the pirate out front and looked at the menu. The one thing I couldn't find online was prices. Perhaps that's because everything is pretty pricey. We ended up with a small pizza: 12 inch for over $15!! I decided to just order the unlimited salad bar, which was only $5ish with the pizza. I had a bite of the pepperoni pizza my husband ordered and loved the tomato sauce, but there was almost none on it. I didn't want a second bite. The salad bar however, was really amazing. Better than any one I'd seen in a while. PLUS, an employee seemed to have the endless job of replacing fresh veggies and picking off veggies that had fallen into the wrong piles. I got a scoop of chocolate pudding for my husband at the end, and he found a mushroom in it. Sounded good to me, chocolate + mushroom, but he just wanted to go at that point, not being a fan of either the pizza or the chocolate mushroom. One of the better pizza spots in the Benecia/Vallejo area. They offer a variety of beers on tap and wine as well. We originally came here in the past because of a Groupon we purchased and have been coming since then. The pizza is that GOOD! They have a great salad bar as well with a wide selection of toppings and fruits. This place is very family oriented with an arcade and prizes in the back. Wow. My mom and her family are Benicia natives. I grew up eating pizza pirate. What happened? New owners? New recipe? We came in tonight for my nephews 7th Birthday. He loves pizza pirate. I wish I could give 0 stars. We ordered a salad for my mom. She didn't eat it because she witnessed employees without hairnets and wearing only one glove to restock food materials for the salad bar. We ordered two pizzas and both were cold. And the quality of the pizza tasted like little Cesar's. We spent $75.63 although, we did get a refund on the salad. Which brought the total for pizza to $65 The pizza tasted like a cardboard box. I was very disappointed. We've come to pizza pirate for years before tonight. My favorite authentic pizzeria to go next to Napoli's in Vallejo. They sell personal sized pizzas which is perfect for my son and I. He likes his porky & bess, I always get the captains combo. Then there's these twists called Caribbean Jim's that you can add pieces of bacon too and are extremely delicious. We always call in our order and pick it up to go, so during these pandemic times it's no different. I'm just grateful they're still open and selling pizza! Support local businesses!
