We've tried about 5 other places around Brandon and the Brooklyn style from Pizza Rock is hands down our favorite. Would give 5 stars but that pepperoni is terrible. They are thick and small in diameter so become oil/grease cups. I'd rather see something more refined, thinner, larger in diameter. Like you'd buy for a higher end salami. Just my 2 cents. This place is pretty busy and I loved the aroma of the fresh cooked pizza. I feel it may be a bit pricey. I definitely recommend the Marty salad! Will definitely return for that. I do not like that you cannot sub or remove items from specialty pizzas but can create your own which will tally to more. I may still be adjusting to the price tag of Florida. read more

Honestly I just made a yelp account so I could talk about how bad this experience was. The wait was almost 40 minutes which is totally fine on a Friday night then we sat my mother can only eat gluten free so she orders a gluten free pizza. We end up waiting another 25 minutes until our waitress tells us that they have no more gluten free pizzas therefore wasting about 2 hours for us to drive there and wait to sit and order making this experience the worst ever. The management must not be good if they cannot keep track of important options that are required for people. read more

Best New York pizza in Brandon!! Tried this place with my husband from reading all the 5 star reviews and was skeptical because most of the pizza here in Brandon is awful! But this place definitely holds the trophy for best New York pizza! The other reviews aren't lying! I do have to tell you, the neighborhood is soo sketchy. This place is like the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover". The parking sucks and the neighboring "shops" are either closed down or run down but I promise you, gather up the courage to walk into the pizza place and you will NOT regret it! It is soo nice inside this pizza place, they really deserve a way better neighborhood for how great and fresh their food it. We came in expecting we were going to take the pizza to-go because of the previous reviews but there was seating by the bar and we really like the ambiance of this place. There were photos of New York and Italy all around the walls. I enjoyed a couple beers while waiting for our wings and pizza. We had hot chicken wings and they were so fresh and tasty! Ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was phenomenal! You can tell these ingredients are fresh! The owner asked us how everything was and there was a legit Italian older guy making all the pizzas. This is not your typical hole in the wall pizza place. The pizza was fresh and hot and it was very flavorful. The kids struggled a little because they want more of a basic pizza especially the pepperoni which was delicious but not your typical boring pepperoni. They have lots of options including salads and sandwiches. I would say more for older kids and adults. read more

By far one of the best pizza and wing places in Tampa. I have been here a few times and always get great service from Steven and Marty. I have never been one for New York Style pizza but this is more Italian/New York Style pizza. The stone oven really helps get that nice char on the crust. I heard they had good pizza, but cannot begin to convey how disappointing it was! We got cheese garlic bread and a pizza, for $30. We figured for that much, it would be epic. So when we got it home and tried it, not only were we underwhelmed, but my boyfriend said it tasted like someone got a DiGiorno and baked it in a wood fired pizza oven! The cheese garlic bread was extremely greasy and burned, as well as salty. How is bread even salty? And I love salt, but the pizza was salty too. AND completely lackluster. Horrible. We will never go back. Just a complete waste of $30. read more

A couple days after eating there stomach still hurts after eating pizza here the other evening.

Read all the great reviews so had to give it a try. So disappointed. Took almost two hours start to finish for us to have dinner for our family of five. Yes it is a Saturday night, no it was not busy and yes I could read on the mmm menu that it states it takes 45 minutes for a pizza on weekend (why I am not sure but ok) We ordered cheese bread and mozzarella sticks. These took 30 minutes and came out at separate times. Don't even know when we got our dinners. However my son had ordered a Philly cheese steak and it came out 20 minutes after the rest of our food. Had to ask about it twice and the server said yes it is coming. The French fries that were his side didn't come out for another 10 minutes after his sandwich came out. My daughters both had ordered meatball dish. They were each served in different dishes. One of them was in a iron skillet and the meatballs had a metal taste to them. The other meatballs tasted good. We had to ask for utensils to eat our food with. We had to ask for napkins. Then had to ask for napkins again because the first time the server only gave us three and there were five of us. When we ordered our food there were three other tables in dining room besides us and one other table sat down after us so I really do not see how they were too busy to take care of us. There were other servers besides ours so it wasn't that our server had too many tables. She never asked us if we needed anything or if everything was ok. Our bill was $80 and a complete waste of money. read more

I typically do not write many reviews but I do rely on them, I know my bad, we were excited to visit this establishment based on reviews. When we arrived friendly staff BUT the pizza, I don't know how else to put it was Terrible is the only word I can use. The crust had a very strange taste meatballs were obviously the frozen kind and the pizza overall was very dry no sauce. We each had one piece then took the rest home. We tried to doctor it up with our own toppings etc but ended up throwing it out. I don't know where all the positive reviews are from but they can't be legitimate. Buyer beware. Third time eating pizza here, it's excellent. I'm assuming the owner is actually working here every day and cooking the food which is probably why the restaurant seems to be running so well and the food is so good. My aunt recommended this place to us off of a recommendation from her nail tech. So, I will say my expectations were low because I played the telephone game (look it up) as a kid and the end result was rarely close to the original phrase. This place is located at the intersection of oak field and parsons in a short strip mall. When we arrived there was very little parking available. We took this to be a good sign. When we walked in, we were lucky to find a seat for us as it was busy. We were placed at a table with four chairs. I wouldn't call it a four top as there was barely room for outlet drinks and plates. They bring pizza out fresh and place on the table on a sort of pizza/rack stand. We would need two and had no idea how it was going to work. Turns out that our server had the same doubts and moved us to a newly empty booth. This was still a bit cramped, but doable. The seating here is why I took away a star. It feels very cramped. I understand they are trying to allow plenty of people to sit, it just feels like most seating fits two or three people comfortably. Four people is a bit of a stretch and more would seem impossible. For this reason, we will probably do take out from here on out. This is a fantastic place to order pizza. It is made in a pizza oven that is straight ahead (behind a half wall) when you walk in the place. They offer beers on tap as well. Since opening they have adjusted their menu, but we found out they will still make anything that was once available. We ordered two 12" pies. One just cheese and pepperoni and the other... well it had a name, however I think it was the DC white sauce. We chose to add artichoke to it. Both pizzas were super! The pepperoni arrive with smaller pep on it. This is perfect for cutting. They have grated Parmesan and red pepper flakes at the table. What is unique is the also offered garlic powder in a salt like shaker. The manager stopped by at our table and our server kept us happy. Overall a good experience. The price point was about on par with the calm fungus place (see what I did there?). I had grand plans for photos with the perfect lighting, but my toddler had other plans, so if you imagination can't quite get the picture together, just hop in your car and head on over to grab a pie of your own! read more
