Person answering the phone friendly and knowledgeable! We ordered the two family size pizzas...one Mexican and one pepperoni and sausage. Cost was about $35 for both. When we got it in the car it smelled so wonderful that we had to take a peep...holy cheese!!! This pizza place doesn't skimp on the cheese! We ordered pizza here twice while on vacation and it was quite good. I recommend the pepperoni and ham and pineapple. It had a reasonable amount of sauce, not too greasy, but a really hard thin crust. Overall, much better quality pizza than Pizza Hut or Papa John's I think. I would call ahead for pickup as there can be a little bit of a wait at night, maybe 45 minutes. Everyone inside is very nice and they even gave us free cups of extra marinara sauce, cups for our 2 liter, plates, and napkins to take back to our room. How nice is that? read more

An utter and complete failure. I called at a little after 9:00pm on a Saturday night and placed my order for delivery. I'm told by the guy on the phone (who was apparently so new he couldn't calculate the total for my order) that delivery would be between 30 and 45 minutes. Fast forward to just a few minutes after 10pm. I don't have my pizza and haven't received a call giving me any kind of update. I decide to call them to check how things are going. I get their voicemail because it's after 10 and they're closed. THEY TOOK MY ORDER AND BLEW ME OFF?!? Luckily I didn't pay by card over the phone. Half an hour later, THE DRIVER SHOWS UP. I don't blame him for the situation (it's not HIS fault) and go ahead and make the transaction. I tear into the pizza box only to find a pizza that could only be described as slightly above room temperature. It is an absolute mystery how Pizza Shack remains in business. Stopped here after a long day of fun. Placed my order and was surprised that they don't accept cards, cash only. No problem though, ran down the street for cash. Pizza was done by the time I got back and we took it home. The variety of pizzas was impressive and I wanted to try the Alfredo but we went with the old stand by of pepperoni, sausage, bacon and banana peppers. Once in the door 5-6 kids plus the gentleman that owns the place are busy taking orders making those wonderful pies, The menu offers gourmet pies plus traditional pizza which is what I came for. My choice a med. house special. 8 Items ,mushrooms,cheese,sausage,hamb.black olives,green peppers,onions,pepperoni. My normal. Called it In they said It would be ready in 30min. When I got there people sitting outside plus a few in side.The Pizza Shack smelled really good getting out of the car. The smell inside was even better, Crust rising in racks the smell of cooking pies,mmmm. My pizza was still hot when I opened the box.Was not bad at all. I like my cheese on top of the sauce with meat and veggies on top.The cheese was on top I eat it any way. The crust was light and airy, the toppings where falling off, the sauce had a good taste. I really wanted to like this place. We ordered a large half pepperoni and half cheese. Looking at the pizza you could tell it was going to be bad. The crust was razor thin, there was very little cheese on the pie and even fewer pepperoni. The crust was dry and flavorless. The sauce seemed watered down. It was supposed to be an extra large pie but didn't even come close to reaching the sides of the box. I think the owner was trying to use as few ingredients as to increase his profit margin, which is a horrible idea. This is absolutely amazing. Crust is very thin and sturdy holding up all of the toppings. We got the chicken alfredo pizza and the sauce is not overwhelming and very flavorful. Pizza is thoughtfully constructed, with spinach under the cheese so as not to burn and tomatoes on top to get a nice roast. Perfect amount of bacon so as to flavor all of it and a nice toast to the cheese. Thank you so much - long day at Bald Head Island and this is a perfect finish! (One note is that the crust itself is not very flavorful or chewy, but we assume that's necessary to the structure to be able to hold up all the toppings. An engineering feat.) read more

This place is a joke. Tried to call to order pizza to pick up....nobody picked up phone. I then decided to drive there to order and wait as I heard the pizza was good. Didn't even get all of the way through the door before I was told if you haven't called your order in it is going to be over an hour. I agreed to this and even suggested ordering and having it delivered. The 4 girls stood staring at me and wouldn't even let me order. This is the best pizza place to try new combinations that I'd never attempt in my kitchen! My personal favorite is the pulled pork, the pineapple gives it that little bit of sweetness. My only complaint is that the crust is lacking a little in flavor. The white pizza we got was more like just olives and cheese but it was still quite tasty. It was a minor inconvenience that they don't take plastic, just cash or checks. Ordered the Buffalo Chicken, Mexican, and two Pepperoni pizzas. The pizza was very good and delivery was quick. The standout was the Mexican style but the pepperoni left an impression because of the layers of pepperoni's on top and underneath the cheese. Our order of four family sized pizzas came out to be $70 even, including delivery.
