Tax evasion with a side of mediocre pizza. A cash only pizza joint rubs me the wrong way to begin with and it only gets worse when they charge $9.75 for a slice. I recently had friends in town who wanted to get a bite after we saw some music and I was astounded at the prices of this place. CASH ONLY. The pizza is certainly good but not 2nd best in the country as said by Trip Advisor. Not even close. I could think of 20 or 25 in the NYC area that are much better but they do have a respectable slice. They serve this cafeteria style which I find ridiculous. To top it off they didn't have garlic salt or powder and they give you red pepper flakes in a small, tear open packet. Something I would expect from gas station pizza. My main issue is the price. $7.50 for a slice of pepperoni. Not only is it highway robbery but it's unethical. Do yourself a favor and go across the street and get an entire pizza for just a little more than two slices here. The pizzas here were delicious and the rice ball was also tasty. This place is known for their pizzas supposedly 2nd best pizza in the country. I really enjoyed it and the service was very friendly and cool. I really enjoyed the shop, the decorations were fun to look at and the staff were very inviting and courteous. With multiple signs advertising this as the 2nd best pizza joint in the US according to Trip Advisor, we were stoked! We looked it up and Trip Advisor does have them as number 2 in the country?!? Unfortunately, they didn't live up to the rating. At least, not in my opinion or the opinions of others in our group. The Hawaiian was very good and can't say anything negative. My piece of Lasagna pizza was not so good - it was wet and floppy, not very flavorful, and the burrata on top was still cold even though the bottom was burnt and hot. Maybe their oven was off because 3 other slices in our party were burnt on the bottom and hard. We also tried the potato and rice balls - hard pass. Not to mention 4 slices of pizza, 2 Italian balls, and 2 bottles of water $60 bones... way, way, way overpriced. Overall the pizza was ok. Better than what you can get at Little Cesar or Pizza Hut, but in no way are they the second best pizza place in America. That is a little ridiculous. And the value is not there for the cost. I am a local from Jacksonville and I have had Pizza Time pizza for many years, and have recommended it countless times but I admit it has been a few years since I have had it. My daughter and her husband were going to see the lights in St. Augustine last night and I asked her to pick up a whole pie, not knowing that they only sell by the slice now. They waited for 90 mins in line and ended up only buying 4 slices because they were $9.75 a slice!!!! OMG, you surely don't pay that in NYC. We were really excited to try the 2nd best pizza joint in the US! The pizza selection was great. I got a slice of the Hawaiian and Cheese. Others in my party tried different varieties, not sure of the names. Their opinion was so-so overall due to taste, some pieces the bottom was burnt, or the mozzarella blob on top was cold. Mine, I enjoyed. Both were good, with the cheese being my favorite of the two. We also tried the Italian deep fried balls, I would pass on those. As for the shop, it is a quaint atmosphere, the Italian music created the perfect ambiance, and all in all welcoming pizza joint. I say give it a go, but not sure I would agree that it is the 2nd best in the country, also, bring a fat wallet, it is pricey. A shop in Alaska apparently got the number 1 spot, go figure. Came here after a day at the Inlet. I thought the line was going to be bad, but it wasn't. Came on a Saturday about 5:30/6:00, line time was about 10 mins and about 20 all together for the food. Cheese was about 5.50 and pepperoni was 6.50 per slice, they are big slices and would suggest 1 slice maybe 2 if you have a big appetite. I didn't care for the mashed potato balls .... At all! It's exactly that.... Creamy mashed potatoes coated in a bread crumb, no flavor, no crunch... did not like. Garlic knots were very good and an order of 3 for 4 of us were more than enough. The bathrooms (both male and female), were very clean. Imma tell you what, you think McDonald's coke or sprite is something? My husband and I have been wanting to try this place out for awhile. It always has a long line. The pizza was so good and different than your typical Pizza, but at almost $10 a slice and cash only, I'm not sure if it's worth it. We also got garlicky c knots which didn't have much flavor to them. The slices were large and had a lot of topping on them. I had the lasagna which had a mozzarella ball on top. First off this is a mixed review and I could have went higher or lower so I split the difference. The line started at the door but the heat hit you right there. It's very much a NY style where they heat up the pizza by the slice. There's a guy yelling at you asking you what you want, then a few feet later another yelling asking what you had. Prices are 5-8$ per massive slice. Most will only want one. You then hope you can find a seat in the still blazing seating area. The food is really good and tastes just like what Ive had in NYC. ATM has a fee. They have no prices posted anywhere in the establishment. I ordered a rice ball, a slice of lasagna pizza and a Genova pizza. Total for all came to $26.09. I enjoyed the rice ball. It came with marinara sauce but not worth $5 each. Both pizzas were good. But also not worth $9.75 each. This is the most I ever paid for a slice of pizza. Sometimes I am savvy and other times just gullible. I had stumbled upon this restaurant at home while on Youtube. Heard it was voted second best pizza in the USA on Trip Advisor. So, I had to try it when we got to St. Augustine. The line to get in wasn't too bad, maybe ten minutes. I asked to order a large cheese and the manager or owner told me no pies now. I figured because they were busy. But they are always busy! Ok, so I ordered six slices of pizza and three garlic rolls. I paid cash, which is all they take. I hate paying cash especially in a pandemic. I think most people would appreciate if they accept credit cards and just charge a little more for each item to cover credit card fees. I ordered too much food for two people. The slices are super filling. We each only ate two and that was too much. The pizza is okay but I can name at least three pizzas in South Florida that are much better. Now the garlic rolls and the sauce they come with are excellent!! That sauce had such a ripe and fresh tomato flavor. Garlic rolls were not too pungent or oily. Oh yeah, we sat right near the cash register. So, I noticed many people who ordered pizza pies to go. But the guy told me no pies!!! I had to ask the cashier. She said the pies are only to go. But I never told that guy we were eating there!!! He is on edge and needs a vacation. read more

Cash only! We went in for a late night post bar hopping snack. It's one of two places that stay open later. We got lucky and arrived before the line wrapped around the building. They have several pizzas displayed to choose from and garlic knots. Then they just pop them in the oven to heat them up. My only complaint is that they are cash only. Yes, they do have signs posted but honestly after drinking, I did not notice them until we were checking out. It's been a year now since I last ate here and let me tell you what.. A LOT has changed! and regretfully for the worse... Pizza Time is now run like a bait and switch scam. You stand in a long line waiting for your turn to order and all while not knowing this place is cash only (ATM inside $3.75 fee). Once you reach the opening of the door you'll have an employee yelling at you asking what you want. You'll glance around looking for a menu (none to be found and that's what they want) only to see the names of 4-5 pizzas that are in your current view. So you'll likely just pick one of those.. because they will keep asking again and again ... you'll likely regret your choice as you move closer towards the register because you found something more appealing that wasn't in your view before. Once you get to the register you will order a fountain drink or water. She will ring up your order and BAMMMMMM $64.75 for 4 slices of pizza and 3 drinks. You didn't know it.. but each of those fancy pizza slices with toppings were $9.75 each, fountain drinks $4.50, and water $4.00.. can't forget the tax They don't want people knowing the real prices of their menu items so you'll see that your receipt will just say "food" over and over. Pizza Times business practice is outright disgusting and is the epitome of tourist trap. No longer do they allow you to order a pie either, ONLY BY THE SLICE. It seems to me they don't care for the locals that supported them. Previous Prices were $3.25 - $5.25 per slice Current Prices are $5.00 - $9.75 per slice Beverage prices essentially doubled I also regret to inform you guys that the taste is no longer there. I have it a 4 star but barely..I'd say just under for me. Ok..so I finally got to try this place with a group of friends & family visiting me. It was 6 of us. It was a Sunday afternoon around 1 pm. There's claims all over it's the "second best pizza in the country." Thats a bold claim. So it's an obvious tourist trap so I believe a line is standard. There was a small line so we waited a few minutes. Here's an initial problem right here. Recommendation to the business, very important, put a menu of your pizzas & their descriptions as well as your few other offerings outside with prices! That way, as it happened to us, the very second it seems you cross the threshold into the place, a guy immediately asks what can I get you. If you've ever watched Seinfeld episode with the Soup guy, kinda like that without kicking you out, but they will pass over you. Clearly patience at the threshold isn't offered. I felt pressured to hurry my order without even being able to see all the offerings as the long 2 row counter display with pizzas & their descriptions don't even start until you get inside and continue down. So I quickly picked 2 slices closest to me because that's all I could see & read that quickly. Yes it's also by the slice. And yes, you're waiting in line to order first before you do anything else. Then at this time I notice the cash only signs. Cash is king so I'm fine with this as I know the importance of not losing this concept, but still good to know ahead of time to be prepared. Especially since each slice was give or take over $5 a slice without a drink. Drink options by way are sodas, bottled water, beer and wine. Everyday is 2 for 1 wines of their brand they offer. So then you move a few feet to wait for your slices that are put in the big pizza oven and then another guy hands them to you over the counter as you then move on a few more feet to the cashier to pay. After you pay, then you can find a table, which happily there are many tables and/or booths inside. Now...here's the entire group's issues and I take this very seriously. I'm Sicilian on both on my father's side. I love pizza and we love cheese. I & we asked for the obvious very seriously important items to enhance your pizza eating experience which is pretty normal. So I thought. *First & foremost-a quality grated cheese-NOPE! HOW DO YOU NOT HAVE ANY GRATED CHEESE?!!!! *Second-Oregano-NOPE! *Third-(more optional for people) Garlic Powder-Nope! ALL they had to offer was red pepper flakes in a packet! How is this even possible?!! Never in the history of EVER in any Italian restaurant or pizza place do you not have these things or minimally GRATED CHEESE!!! I'm dumbfounded truly. This took away from our fuller enjoyment of the pizza honestly it's needed. So bottom line, is the pizza good, yes. Is the crust good, yes. Is it 2nd in the country good, no way I can't believe that.
