I have a problem with this place. The last time I visited was 2011, so let that be a lesson to future customers. I will visit again soon to see if their service has changed. I get a lot of gift cards from this place for some reason, my friends love it. The first time I visited they told me refills on bread were free, so we filled up on as much of their delicious bread as we could have. They charged us on all four refills of bread at 11$ each basket. WHAT? Even with a 50$ gift card, I remember our bill being up in the 180 range for a FOUR PERSON MEAL. I did call up the server I had and said that they said free refills on bread and my party agreed on what we heard, but apparently the server didn't say such a thing. The second time I went, I was more wary. They SAID bread refills were free and so I ate only two rolls of bread. When the bill came, it was indeed free. Here's where the problem sets in. The first time I went, I went with 3 other colored people, and the second time I went with 2 white people. I went within 6 months of my first visit and I highly doubt there was a change in management staff. I know they're kinder to regulars but both times I went were the first time for both of my groups. The food was...ok. The atmosphere is more Cheers-like than we expected. The bread was amazing, served with bruschetta that was very flavorful; but that was the best part of our dinner. Dinner for two without drinks was $70, after tax and tip. Maybe it just wasn't our kind of restaurant. They definitely have a lot of regulars, and it seemed that everyone knew everyone else. Wasn't that impressed. Took the family here for dinner, it wasn't crowded. It took over a hour to get are food. The salads were good, but the pizzas were horrible. Ordered to different one's and they were burnt, Plus the sauce seemed odd on both. You know it's bad pizza when the kids won't eat it. My favorite local Italian place to go. We've gone for lots of birthdays and family dinners, and its always been great. The bruchetta is awesome, the gnocchi is BOMB and the wine list is superb. The pizza is great for kids or they can order pasta dishes in child size portions. You can eat outside or inside, in a classy casual atmosphere. Have never been disappointed! read more

Not worth the money or the time. The pizza was dry and crunchy. Even after asking for extra sauce. Service was very slow and unfortunately should really be improved upon. We came here base on my coworker's recommendation. We decided to try the Pizzaioli salad and the Mahgarita pizza with pepperoni and sausage. The salad consisted of arugula, cranberries, nuts and cheese. It was one of the best salads we had. The wife really liked the pizza but I thought it was okay. I thought it needed more sauce and the crust was too crunchy for me. The meat, cheese and sauce were very good on the pizza. The service was good. We were seated quickly and our server made sure our drinks were filled. As we only tried a couple of items, I can't say what the other dishes are like so I only gave 3 stars, but will definitely be back to try them. read more

Impressed with the atmosphere. Decided to have a family birthday dinner, big mistake. $86.00 for two meals which were not worth $86.00. Mashed potatoes were so salty my 18 year old could not even eat them. I had linguine with clams which were not that hot, a couple hours later I was sick to my stomach. I called and asked if I could bring a cake in, and was told yes. What they didn't tell me was that they charge $15.00 to cut it. Will not return, ever. After a long swim sesh, a girl gets hungry for something hearty and fulfilling and what can be better than Italian right? Unfortunately... WRONG!!!! My friend and I wanted some Italian but we didn't want to go to a cheesy chain Italian joint nor did we want to drive for forty minutes to the place in Newport that we love, so I yelped and Pizzaioli looked promising. We got there around 6:30PM on a Sunday night and shit we were underdressed. WTF why was I not informed that it's kind of semi-casual dressy? We walked in and it was like one of those movies where everyone stops what they are doing and stares at you, I get it I looked like shit but damn if it doesn't affect your dinner experience than please leave me be. We did get seated right away and I have to say the service is pretty on point. Right away they brought us water and their bread with bruschetta. The bruschetta is okay but even better when you are starving. We ordered the antipasto Toscana which was a miss for me. It was a appetizer of Italian cold cuts, cheeses, and olives. The cold cuts were the standard variety of Prosciutto di Parma, mortadella, salami and the cheeses consisted of gorgonzola, pecorino, parmigiano and provolone cheese. I felt like I could have gone to Trader Joes down the street and made my own antipasto with higher quality meats and cheeses. For my entree I had the chicken milanese which was bland from the chicken to the arugula salad. The portion was huge and I would say it is comparable to a T-REX breast if I've ever seen one. I literally blurted out "holy shit that is big" when the waiter brought it out. The mood quickly became awkward because of all the sexual innuendos that were being bantered back and forth between my friend and I over this obscene piece of meat. As far as taste the cook really needs to salt the chicken it was so bland and it also needed some acidity to it. I ended up squeezing the lemon from my ice water on top of the chicken. The arugula salad was lack luster in flavor and seasoning. I needed more olive oil, lemon, and salt on the salad for it to be edible. All in all the dining experience was just okay. I may have just ordered the wrong thing because it looked as though everyone else in the restaurant was enjoying every bite of their food. I guess if I do come back I will need to ask for recommendations as to not make the same mistake of ordering the chicken milanese. read more

The best Italian restaurant in the area. Service can be from eh to okay. Food is fair to excellent. Nice wine selection. Very comfortable to relax and have a nice meal. The pasta with the jalapenos is a must! Iget it every time! You would think the jalapenos overpower. Quite the contrary. This is some of the best Italian I have had. The bruchetta and bread was delicious. It is nice to have a quaint and lovely restaurant nearby to go to. If you are bringing kids, sit outside as to not cause any issues with the customers inside. My mom and I were craving Italian food, and we always saw this place pretty packed with guest sitting outside on their porch area, so we decided to give it a try. I will be honest! The food was really good but way over priced! You really can't find anything on the menu for under 10 dollers, and we waited for a very, very long time for our order and the place wasn't even busy. We noticed the bar area had a large selection of wines it seemed like most of the guests there were at the bar area. The staff was ok, not to friendly, seemed to be catering more to the bar area. I don't think we will go here again, I know of other places with better service and better Italian food for a more reasonable price. My hubby wanted to take me to a local "gem" for a nice dinner and not take me to our usual fave; Owen's Bistro so based on recommendations from friends he decided on Pizzaioli. I must say last time on new years I gave them a five star rating it's sad on new years eve they give better service than a Sunday night..just cause they booked a big party is not my problem. My husband and I have been dining here for more than 10 years. The food here in our opinion is excellent. We especially love the bread and bruschetta and the eggplant parmigiana. I do have to agree on the wine corkage fees being high though. We have brought many friends here who have also returned on their own.
