I enjoyed the experience and the food here. Pizza was the item I had in mind walking in. I ordered a small cheese deep dish, and was overall pretty good. Although it is the norm for pizza in Chicago to be on the pricey side, it was mostly worth it, but still, it isn't cheap. The interior of the building is awesome, especially at night. The last time I had visited here was 25 years ago. There was a short lived television program on the Travel Channel that pitted two favorite restaurants in a chosen city against each other and had three people vote on which one was the best.. In Chicago they had Pizzeria Due versus another popular chain in the suburbs, Lou Malnati's and Malnati's won by the slimmest of margins. Having Lou Malnati's throughout the suburbs, we started dining at Malnati's for the convenience. We attended the Chicago Jazz festival and we stopped by Pizzeria Due for a late dinner. We were greeted with the usual 20 minute wait to be seated and the hour for the pie to be cooked. To make the time go by a little faster, we ordered the chicken wings after seeing on the menu that they were baked. The wings came out juicy and hot and they tasted great. You can order them Buffalo style or plain with sauce on the side. Almost to the minute, one hour after we ordered our Chicago style pizza, it arrived. Fresh out of the oven and streaming hot. With the very first bite, we could tell the difference between Pizzeria Due and the other guys product. The tomatoes in the Dues pizza was sweeter and not as tart like Lou's. But most importantly, the crust was crunchy and moist, unlike Malnati's where the crust is hard and can do damage to your dental work. It was a very pleasant return to Pizzeria Due and we will put aside the hassle of the parking and waiting for a table for an excellent Chicago style pizza and some great wings. read more

Don't know if there is another restroom but the one at the entrance sent me right out again because I couldn't even walk into the stall & close the door behind me. There was literally no room to budge and I'm an average sized person. A friend came in after me & was also dumbfounded. She had to stand on the toilet in order to close the stall door. This is a great place to go for an authentic Chicago pizza experience. Pizzeria uno was packed so we walked here instead. It still has the old school feel and great food. My sister and mom shared a gluten free pizza and the gluten free crust they use is pretty good! Some of the beat I've tried before. My dad and I got a thin crust pizza, we added tomatoes, spinach, and garlic, which was a delicious combo. We had a ton of food left over though, we couldn't even finish half the pizza together. While on a business/pleasure trip to Chicago, that trip ended on a very sour note. The Pizzeria Due failed in every category a restaurant can have. On an average November Evening there was a 45 minute wait to be seated. We thought to ourselves, it will be worth the wait since the Yelp Rating was over 4.5. Wow, how wrong could Yelp have been. Finally we were seated after 49 minutes to a filthy dirty table. Crumbs, pizza sauce and water spotted flatware. The waitress was neither helpful nor pleasant. We had already put in our order in when we requested our table and yet our waitress was clueless as to what was ordered. When we reminded her that we had already put in our order, she made a condescending remark "Why didn't you tell me that?" The waitress finally got around to bringing us our drinks, which came in water spotted glasses and a member of our party had to return her drink as it had some type of debris in her glass. The pizza came and it had far too much tomato sauce then cheese. The crust was thin and crispy, not what a deep dish Chicago Style Pizza is usually described. Of course if I were not born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, I would have no idea what a Chicago Style Pizza should be like. As expected the bill came in with an inflated price (sign of the times), which would have been fine if the experience had lived up to the hype. Caesar salad is good the soup is good and the deep dish was superb. I will say my first slice was a little soupy from the sauce and tomatoes but over all it's very good. My folks and I spent the night before our flight in the area and decided to eat dinner here. I read the reviews on Yelp; also, the restaurant was included in our guide book as it has a historical significance. We came around 7 pm. We expected a wait, but to our pleasant surprise, we were seated right away. Our waiter, Swen, was so charming! He had a incredible sense of humor and kept us laughing through the evening. As for the food, we ordered the veggie dip, individual bowl of Caesar salad, and the deep dish pizza with anchovies, mushrooms, and spinach. The food was incredible, and the pizza was really filling! One downside is that the deep dish pizzas do take awhile to make (40-45 minutes). Also, the place is cramped inside; if you don't like tight spaces, you are better off eating outside. Overall, our dinner here was one of the highlights of our time in Chicago. Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting! read more

You don't get compared to Lou Malnati's unless you're really good, and this pizza is really good! If I happened to be intoxicated and had this pizza put in front of me, I don't think I would know the difference. With that being said, there is one minor knock that will keep this place from dethroning the champ - the crust is just a tad bit dry. Perhaps it could vary from day to day, but I had no intention of snacking on the crust like I do with Lou's. That's about it, the cheese and sauce are spectacular and the bite is what I expect from authentic Chicago deep dish. I needed to make up for lost time. While it was nice to sit outside and we had a lovely, attentive server, I am sorry to say that, out of the 7 pizza places, Due ranked dead last. It mostly had to do with the crust. There was simply too much of it and it was bland. Unless we were served an unusual pizza, which is possible, the bottom crust seemed to make up nearly 1/2 of the depth. I could only eat one piece and my daughter resorted to just eating the other filling ingredients and left all of the bread on her plate. Late night Chicago, just off the L from O'Hare, checked in to my hotel, and starving at 11 pm. What to do? Get the best thin crust pizza I've ever had! The whole crust is perfect, breaking like glass between my teeth, and loaded with just the right amount of sauce and cheese,but the edge of the glass is like hot thin ice: shatters in my mouth. A miracle. It would be so easy for them to dial it in and give me something quick, but they produced this crispy wonder in 15 minutes and I am totally happy. I'll be back tomorrow night to try the deep dish, with its 45 minute cook time. But if they can get the crust to crunch right on a deep dish, I will be amazed. Place order prior to arriving! Deep dish pizzas take about 45 minutes to make. This was the best advice we read from other reviews and couldn't agree more as all tables around us had to wait much longer for their food and ours was delivered within about 10 minutes of being seated. Seating is jammed packed. Our table seemed to be squeezed in but wasn't the best location. We had a direct view of the kitchen and all servers had to squeeze between us and those standing at the bar with super hot pizzas. It's a wonder nobody was burned by the pizza pans or no food & drinks were spilled on anyone. Pizza was good & servers polite. We wanted Chicago Deep Dish and this was a fairly good option. The location was great close to our hotel, the decor was cool, if a bit crowded. Your really had to suck it in walking around the bathrooms. What we loved the most was that you can call in your order before you get there, so it would be ready when you arrived. The downside to calling in early was that the pizza was not piping hot when it arrived to the table. That said, we were in and out before other people who got there before us even got their pizzas. With 2 small kids, that's a lifesaver. The Numero Uno was good, but it would have been better right out of the oven. The salad was good, a bowl was more than enough for 2 of us. We got the Numero Uno w/ sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, and green peppers. I thought the crust was good - and not at all overpowering that sometimes a deep dish crust sometimes is. The sauce is definitely more tomato based flavor. It was even good the next day reheated! We started with a salad - but I would not recommend that. Dressing-wise it just wasn't good with the olive oil/red wine vinegar blend. Not much care was put into the dish. This is definitely a tourist destination and you could be waiting a long time for the deep dish - but from a non-deep dish person, I thought it was pretty good. read more
