The deep dish pizza here is simply fantastic. I've been slowly re-visiting all the famous deep dish pizzerias in Chicago over the past year and Due's is still the real deal. It tastes exactly the way it did back a few decades ago when I first started loving it. There has been no tampering with the original recipe as far as I can tell. Due's pie is a little more rustic than some other options around town, such as Lou's, and it has a more complex flavor profile within the boundaries of tradition. All you really need to get is a plain cheese deep dish to experience the goodness in its purest form. Although, if you want meat, I would suggest their pepperoni which has a bit more kick than some of their competitors offer. I would also recommend the nicely crafted house salad with their special dressing. Like the pizza, it's been consistent over the years. Once you nail something, there is no need to change it. The service on the night that we went was friendly and fast. We went late in the evening so the crowds had thinned down, There was no wait. The atmosphere at this location is authentic and charming. This is a value post. If you want old school Chicago then UNO & DUE are good choices. Their are great choices closer but I am not here to rate them. DUE is a throwback to better times in Chicago but it is on the expensive side. I had 2 beers, Individual Chicago style thick pizza, and a salad and it was over $50 with tip. Apples to oranges I could have ate healthier and better at a steakhouse for the same coin. 1) Restaurant is small cute space with limited seating but that is more for ambiance. I dig it makes it feel speak easy-ish. 2) Pie was good with tons of toppings and a nice crispy thick crust. 3) Salad was legit with homemade croutons and bright colorful veggies. Haven't actually got my food yet, but AMAZING service from Aaron. We ordered the Numero Uno having not seen that it had mushrooms and I just can't stomach mushrooms. We were afraid it was too late to change, but Aaron went in and it fixed over to a Chicagoan for us. Any other restaurant I've ever been at they just say "sorry" but this man hustles for strangers. I wanted to try a Chicago style deep dish pizza, so I came here with a group of coworkers back in August 2022, but it ended up being probably one of the worst service experiences I've ever had a restaurant. The only reason for the 2-stars instead of 1-star is because the deep dish pizza was decent. I don't know what was going on with the restaurant that day, but the first server quit her job and walked out on the restaurant, and then second server who took over was just completely incompetent. We ended up having to wait an eternity for our food and drinks, which we had to order multiple times even after the second server took over. We actually didn't even complain or anything, but the restaurant preemptively offered to comp us a round of drinks for the inconvenience. But of course, they ended up charging us for those drinks anyways lol. Out of principle my friend tried to point this out, but the manager was not at all interested in hearing her out. I could see that the argument was going nowhere, so I stopped my friend from pursuing it any further. I simply payed the check plus a 20% tip and left because I'm sure that such a poorly run restaurant like this one and its incompetent servers could use the charity. read more

The service was great and the Gluten Free pizza was excellent, but my deep dish was awful. The crust was tough, very crumbly and dry. The filling was 70% tomato sauce and hard to enjoy the toppings. This is my second time in Chicago and I wanted to try the deep dish pizza. I am so glad I tried this four cheese and pesto! AMAZING does not justify how good it was! We went on a tour the same day and we were told that it's a traditional to try the deep dish which we knew however, we end up coming to due pizza because uno didn't have reservation, which is the second location they had opened and it was amazing. We were also told that it would take at least 30 to 45 minutes for the food to be ready and it was accurate but so worth the wait. The only thing when it came to places in Chicago, the service did not seem to be so great and that they want people to leave as soon as possible to get more people in. That is the experience that I did not like. We got two medium size pizza which is about eight pieces each! So plenty of food but that can literally feed 3 to 4 people for each medium size because of how big and filling it is. We also had half barbecue chicken which I didn't really like it a lot like onions. The other half was the sausage but I cannot eat because I have allergy but everyone's favorite is definitely the four cheese and pesto. It was filled with cheese and amazing flavor! I went to Chicago for a true "Chicago" experience and got it here! So I'm probably wayyyyyy off base when I think about Chicago, but I always pictured the old "Webster" or "Family Matters" (tv shows) houses with basements. I pictured the dimly lit restaurants in the basement where you can see parts of the sidewalk when you look out the windows. I pictured the tiny black & white octagon/ pentagon tiles on the floors. But I'm more than sure Chicago has evolved from that. Ok, it HAS evolved but I wanted that old/ stereotypical vibe that I'd see on television. Well... I got it at this place! I fell in love immediately. The place first gets you because you have to go a few steps down to get into the restaurant. The walls had pictures of older famous people, tiny tiles, wood everywhere.... Wood tables, wood on the walls... you just felt the history of the place. Dimly lit. Intimate. I LOVED IT! We sat in a booth and spoke to the waiter.... who was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Even though we didn't order a deep dish, we ordered a thin crust pepperoni. This pizza was amazing. Yes, Due's is part of the Pizzeria UNO's chain but in name alone. My experience was fantastic. To start, it is a relatively small spot on the corner hugged by massive buildings all around. It is a true dive. You walk down some stairs and you feel like you've been transported to another world. It truly feels like a mom and pop kinda joint. We started with the garlic bread Chicago style. Simple and delicious with the hot peppers. We let our waiter know we were in a bit of a time crunch with the Hawks game starting in about an hour and they were more than accommodating. They came and got our orders quickly and always were sure to check-in. I ordered the sausage deep dish with the Giardiniera. Yum yum yum. I recommend the sausage seeing as you are in the meat packing capital of the world. I would easily choose this again. Beyond the service, the food is fantastic - admittedly I've not yet ventured beyond pizza and Italian beef sandwiches simply because they are just that good. Most surprising is the gluten free pizza - the crust is actually so good I prefer it, and I'm not even GF. I just tested it for my significant other to see if worth trying - now I'm hooked. Delicious Chicago-style pizza and excellent service! On Jun 30, 2022 our family spent a day in Chicago. This was our first time in the "Windy City". From our tour guide and friends we heard quite skeptical opinions on Chicago deep-dish pizza, but nevertheless we decided to risk and try for more complete Chicago experience. Our waiter Aaron was very attentive and helped us to decide on the order as what we initially planned was 3-4x what we could eat :) Our pizza came fresh and hot in 45 min after order (exactly as promised), and was absolultely delicious! It certainly exceeded all expectations and was well worth the wait! Appetizers: Buffalo wings - good fresh and juicy. Mains: 1 large deep-dish pizza - half veggie / half pesto 4 cheeses - both sides were delicious! 1 personal BBQ chicken deep-dish pizza - great, fresh, and tasty! 1 personal plain cheese deep-dish pizza - can't assess as we took it for our 7y old used to New York pizza and as expected she didn't like it :) We highly recommend this restaurant! Walked in and picked up my pizza. Took LSD home and 20 minutes later... Delicious pizza. I think it's one of if not the best pizzas in Chicago. An OG staple. I'm the pizza guy. I recently had Pequod's and Milly's too. And Due was better. I've been coming here for almost 20 years. Same as Pequod's. I'm usually bouncing back and forth on comparing these two. Due wins today. I should have read the reviews before ordering. I arrived 15 mins early to pick up my pizza. Expecting to wait while it was prepared, I was surprised when they brought it right out. Usually when you carry a pizza box it is quite hot. My pizza was not. The box was not even warm and the pizza itself was cold and seemed old as if they gave me an old order. One customer mentioned she had a reservation for 8pm and the hostess responded "today?" with complete seriousness. We were seated upstairs in the building which had a complete INFESTATION of spiders. It was basically a massive spiders nest upstairs. If you sit upstairs DO NOT LOOK UP. The minute we noticed the spiders, we couldn't stop looking up to ensure they were propelling on our heads from less than 1 foot above us. I am honestly shocked that this isn't some form of health violation. Completely repulsive and everyone included in my party lost their appetite. We were in Chicago on business and came across this restaurant walking around. We both had thin crust and deep dish pizza with chicken wings. The thin crust combo pizza was the best I've ever had. The deep dish combo pizza was my first time with deep dish and it was delicious but for me too filling because of the crust. Came to Pizzeria Due on our first night in Chicago because it was recommended by a local bartender. We did not order the deep dish. We told the have awesome tavern style pizza (crispy, thin cracker like crust). We ordered the windy city which a combo pizza. The pizza was AMAZING! The crust was super crispy, not soggy at all! The pizza sauce was also very good, you can taste the basil. Best of all our server was amazing!! His name was Swayne (sp?) He was super attentive! He checked on us multiple times. When we walked in we asked for the same server, unfortunately he was finishing up this last tables. We had a different server this time. We waited FOREVER for her to take our order, we had to stop the host that sat us to take our order. She did not check on us. The pizza was not good, it came out luke warm, crust was not crispy at all! The 4 of use order 2 pizzas and we only ate 1 slice each. The first night, my boyfriend and I finished 16 slices by OURSELVES!! We were ready to go because the service was so bad and our friend had to catch a train back so we asked for to go boxes. We asked if she can bring them as soon as she can, and she replied " I'll try, I have another party". We just when to the kitchen to grab the boxed ourselves. When we dropped of the bill I double checked and saw that she automatically added gratuity. I went up to the bartender to ask him how many people to a large party is when gratuity is added, he said 6. We asked for the manager and told him we only had 4 adults and a toddler which adds up to 5 people. He said sorry and removed it. I am not sure why she decided that it was okay to play us. Little did she know I used to work in the restaurant and service industry. I always tip even if the service is mediocre. We tipped Swayne 25% the night before. However, if you give us attitude all night, ignored us and try to hope that we dont noticed that you snuck in the automatic gratuity, SORRY. If you come here make sure you ask for Swayne! I've never been a fan of deep dish pizza but clearly I've been going to the wrong pizzeria. Unlike the others I've tried this one had flavorful crust that wasn't loaded with grease. The sauce was flavorful and the sausage, mushroom, peppers brought it all home. Now that we've put dry January behind us I can heartily recommend the local draft beers. My husband and I were in town and met up with some friends who live in Chicago. We hadn't made a dinner reservation but deep dish pizza sounded like a good plan. The reservation we made on Open Table said to call 40 mins in advance to order your deep dish since it takes time to make. Day one in the windy city, this place caught my eye. Everything about it looks like it was frozen in time in the 1950s. There was a bit of a wait to get seated, but man, oh man, I would of camped out now knowing how great the pizza is. The pizza sauce was ah maze ing. It was so fresh, perfectly balanced, and you can taste the authenticity in it. The dough was supper soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside.
