A big group of my friends and I (10 people) came in all at once. The employee working did a great job. His service was quick and very helpful making sure we had everything we needed. My Girlfriend and I went here when we found out it offers Vegan options. We realized to our surprise that the entire menu has a vegan alternative for every pizza available. With all the hype I had to try this place . I drove from my house an hour away to get a pizza . This was the best pizza I have ever had. It was thin crust, perfect sauce, extra veggies, and the heat Omg the jalapeño were the topping on the cake lol I bought a large and ate two slices . It is really filling. For what you get and the price it is well worth it. Any one can go eat crappy fast food and it be filled with preservatives. This is a true vegetarian, vegan restaurant . I agree with some of the other yelpers... . This place is def. over priced . Being vegan I was super excited to try this place. Don't get me wrong the food looked and tasted delicious but I got a "large " which was very small compared to other places larges (more like other pizza places smalls) with a few extra toppings and some pesto knots.. cost almost $45. I'm all for supporting small businesses ... but common... I can get basically the same size vegan pizza at blaze pizza with vegan cheese vegan meat and unlimited topping options for under $12 .... I have another go to pizza place that offers vegan meats and cheese and their large is HUGE and still less expensive .... Idk I'd like to try some of their other pizzas because they sound delicious but I just don't know if it's worth the extra mark up . Service was very fast. Food was fresh . New to Modesto and not a huge vegan restaurant / pick up food scene. I saw the cool banner that said "Plant Based Pizzas". I'm Muslim so I don't typically eat pizza at places that serve pork, but I was sooo happy to see that there is a pizza place I can FINALLY feel free to buy from. I ordered the artichoke spinach pizza and it was really good. Prices are expensive...but that's veganism for you. I'll be honest, I'm not a huge fan of vegan cheese , but the flavor from artichoke and the greens on the pizza were delish. Also just the fact I held a good conscious that no pork was on my pizza (lol). I'll keep coming here. Would be a good idea to have a customer loyalty program to keep people coming back! read more

Update: At first I left a 5 star review but since I have had a 1 star experince. I am not one to jump to a bad review but I gave them opportunity to make it right and they chose to handle things with poor customer service and lack of ethics. So due to lack of respect, I am sharing my experience. I ordered my go to pizza with favorite sauces (the sauces are half the reason I get the pizza) from door dash and the past 2 orders came delivered without our sauces. The first time they claimed it was the dashers fault, second time they said they didn't get it in the special instructions. If it was one time, ok, things happen. But 2 times in a row and with more of a recent history of disorganization led me to believe that they likely just dropped the ball. I had just came home from a work trip and was exhausted and hungry (which is why I doordashed) but I was forced to drive over to the location after telling pizzaria halt the issue over the phone. I was told that we would get free sauces and half off our next pizza for the inconvenience. Ok, that was appreciated! But much to my surprise, once I showed up and actually talked to the owner about the situation, I was charged for my 2 sauces and asked to leave them a good review. CHARGED FOR MY SAUCES THAT WERE FORGOTTEN THE PAST 2 TIMES. I wasn't expecting a comped meal but the least they could do for the inconvenience is throw in the 2 sauces for free. Honestly I was shocked. I run a business and when things get messed up, you bite the bullet and make things right with your client/customer. On an additional side note, they changed the recipe for the 2 sauces that I loved and so after all that to find the 2 sauces I paid for were not up to par was just a slap in the face. I tried the barbecue chicken for the first time last night and loved it!! Even my boyfriend was surprised it was all vegan. He kept asking if I was sure the "chicken" wasn't real chicken. I'm glad Modesto is branching out with more vegan/vegetarian friendly options. A medium was enough for two people, but I think a large would have been a little more satisfying since the slices are on the smaller side. I had the Chipotle pizza, then went back for the artichoke pizza. The place is very clean and the staff is very accommodating. They offer many different pizza flavors. Things have changed for the worse... I've been going to Pizzeria Halt since the very first week it opened, and I used to be a big fan. As a vegan in Modesto, there are only 3 (including this establishment) fully plant based restaurants in town, so when a new one opens up it has my full support. As for the food itself, the pizza crust has always been tough, but the flavors are good and the variety of pies to choose from makes it seem like you're getting a great deal. The menu pictures boast these generous topped pizzas with plenty of toppings and cheese, but what you get is sadly not what's in the pictures. The toppings are Skimped on to say the least. Fast forward a couple of months into COVID things have obviously changed in our world and restaurants are having to make adjustments, but i can't support the shady decisions this business has chosen to make. Recently pizzeria halt reopened after being closed for a while, and I was excited to have that extra option again. Only this time the experience was much more skimpier and a lot more expensive! I ordered my usual Bianca pizza and the newer option the Elote flat bread only to find that my pizza was sprinkled with just a couple toppings and the flat bread had been reduced by more than half it's original size. My total went from $33 for my usual to $46 and the portion sizes were reduced. As soon as I noticed this, I was pretty disappointed and returned my pizza. To which I will say the employees are very friendly and this review in no way reflects their customer service. Lastly I will say, I believe honesty is the best policy and if you look at the more recent reviews they seem to tell a less than honest story. Amongst a bunch of recent reviews with similar experiences as mine is a review from the owner himself, and then a reply to that post by the exact same owner. Along with a couple more reviews that seem to use similar sounding phrases and wording. 7/24/20 RIP OFF!!!! Went in today for a couple of pizzas and ONE large Chipotle chicken pizza was $42.99 for ONE!!! and a medium Hardy Boy was $32.99. These people are crazy! I was so beyond excited to get a fully vegan pizza place especially because the market is so open for it in the valley. But the product just wasn't up to par. The knots were over cooked & hardened. I've had grocery store frozen pizza that was better. Rethink this then come back with fresher ingredients. I live in Modesto and when this place open I figured wow it's so nice to have a pizza place that is vegan. About a month later they changed prices ( going up ) I told my husband it's way too expensive and I hate places that take advantage and up prices just because they see lots of people like their food. I hardly order pizzas because of the price. I called yesterday to order one pizza and added a few toppings (because as it is they don't have lots of toppings) my total was $50 just for one pizza and like 2 toppings!!!! That's crazy!!!!! It was basically a VERY high priced daiya freezer section pizza. Nothing tasted seasoned, the crust wasn't even the slightest bit toasted, the marinara sauce tasted like tomato juice, my jalapenos were nonexistent because it just did not add any spice. I had also ordered a side of garlic knots but quickly learned that there was something off about them? They had a bad after taste I think it was because the garlic used was really burnt. Oh my goodness, their pizza is amazing! We get the extra large pepperoni and artichoke pesto on the regular! I also love to get the pepperoni with black olives and mushrooms. Their pepperoni has great flavor and texture. I got the large artichoke pesto with pepperoni added this time. The picture only has 4 pieces in it because I ate the rest. Haha! It was delicious! This is how vegan pizza should taste and as vegans we are so elated and grateful to have a vegan pizza place in Modesto. If you're vegan/veg you have to check this place out. Im from the bay area. Ive had many vegan pizzas and this was right up there with the best ive had. They use daiya cheese which imo is one of the worst plant based cheeses, follow your heart or violife and soon miyokos mozzarella are all superior but wow they made it work so well with daiya. Great medium crust, fantastic toppings and amazing sauces all blended together to form a very high quality plant based pizza. I'll definitely be returning whenever I'm in the valley. As a full time vegan I was super excited to hear about this place , so my girlfriend & I decided to stop by at our first opportunity The space Doesn't look like much from the outside , & they seem to be getting their footing still as when we walked in a contractor of some sort was hanging "award frames," even though they had only been open for three weeks, an action which I found curious With regard to the food: we ordered a house salad which contained croutons that would have given any family of rocks a run for their money , also we were served with paper plates & plastic utensils both of which tore & broke during the dining experience. The pizza didn't feel artisan , it felt like a lazy effort & was dry / flavorless, however the bread sticks & pesto I did enjoy very much ! Overall criticisms: I think for this type of place to be successful , the location should have been in downtown Modesto, not next to Marshalls in a tracked home shopping center , the ambience is pretty terrible, there should be some murals on the walls, I felt like it was too brightly lit, they could have done with some mood lighting, also there was no music playing , Didn't seem like there was really an effort to create a "vibe," All of which I think are extremely important to warrant the price point, even if it's just for a few minutes you want to feel like you have escaped, not thrust into some random kitchen , also get some proper plates & utensils , it's okay to do dishes I promise ! I've been wanting to try this place for a while just because it's a vegan pizza place and the pictures they posted of their food look really good. I was highly disappointed. It's probably actually one of the worst restaurants I've been to in quite a while and I try new restaurants quite frequently. I ordered the medium barbecue chikn pizza and the pesto breadsticks. They are extremely overpriced for their portion sizes. I thought I'd get more breadsticks considering I paid over $20 for just a handful of them. they weren't very flavorful and they were supposed to have cheese in them but I didn't really taste any cheese. The pizza was also not very flavorful. It was hard to taste the barbecue at all. They use a vegan cheese that isn't so good. I've had way better options that can actually work good for a pizza, but for some reason they just use a gooey sticky kind that doesn't taste very good. I don't know what kind of vegan meats they use, but it also wasn't good at all and didn't have much flavor. I hate to say it but literally the only thing I think I liked was the crust and maybe the pineapple ...but the pineapple is obviously from a can. I ordered two marinara on the side and two ranch. They were both almost $2 per sauce cup even though the sauce cups were really small. The ranch tasted good, but I can't believe I spent that much on ranch. I could have gone to the store and gotten a whole bottle for cheaper. The marinara tasted really cheap. It wasn't good at all. When I picked up my order the restaurant was fairly clean so they have that going for them. The customer service was just okay. Nothing to rave about other than they were kind and did their job. I literally ate a piece of pizza and a breadstick and gave the rest away after spending over $40 on the couple items I got. I won't be returning. Id save your money if I were you. I spent $33.00 on qhats equivalent to a small sized pizza and it wasn't even worth 1/3 of that. They put barely any toppings on. The vegan chicken wasn't cooked was just raw looking. Something also caused me a mild allergic reaction. Not coming back place is cheap with low quality. Never actually encountered an expensive pizza place that is so cheap.
