Sweet heat pizza and arugula salad
    Eric H.

We went while we were in town last week. We positively loved it. We had a margherita pie, a sweet heat pie and split an arugula salad. Plus, we had some solid cocktails from the bar (they are only $5 on Thursdays!!). The crust on the pizza was the most memorable thing for us. It's a perfect balance between Neapolitan airiness / char and New York structure / chew. I crave it just thinking about it. The tomato sauce was bright and fresh. Plus, they use Grande' mozzarella from WI which shows a commitment to quality. The "large" salad was big enough to split 3 ways (but we still found a way to finish it). The dressing on the salad was nicely balanced (lemon, oil, salt, cheese). I wish it was a "tossed salad" and not "dressing on the side" but I say that at nearly every restaurant. The second most memorable thing about it: the service. Everyone we dealt with was professional, skilled, friendly and energetic. If we lived in the area, we would be regulars here. Highly recommend.

    Soppressata & Hot Honey

I ordered takeout out from Pizzeria Serio. They make some serio pizza but with a smile. The ordering process was easy, and the pizza was ready before their promised time. I ordered a Margherita Pizza, and customized my own pizza with Soppressata and had them drizzle some Hot Honey on the pizza. Both pizzas were really delicious, but I really did enjoy eating my custom Hot Honey & Soppressata pizza. The Margherita pizza was good but nothing special. The only good I would have preferred on both is a little more char on the crust. Overall very satisfied.

Catching up on Yelp reviews in 2024. I visited Pizzeria Serio back in March on a Thursday night and has been on my bucket list for a while as I heard they have good brick-oven pizza. The vibe was a cozy neighborhood bar. There were 3 TVs for sports and there were a few people at the bar and sitting at tables. They had a good amount of people coming in for carry-out. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza. Crust: 9 Cheese: 9 Sauce: 4 Toppings: 6 Overall: 7.0 The pizza was brick-oven. I thought the crust was nice and toasty a little doughy. Not too much crunch. Cheese was very tasty so it must have been from Wisconsin! Sauce is a bit watery and it was tangy. Pepperoni is just a smidge above mid, but they loaded it up. I would love to come back and try a specialty pizza next time. The pizza was about $18 the Green PBRs were about $4. The bartender was friendly and he told me that they would tap the Green PBRs on draft early since I wanted to order one, which was awesome! Overall, I wouldn't say it's the best pizza, but it was good pizza and it felt like a cozy neighborhood bar. Definitely worth giving Pizzeria Serio a try!

These are the calzone bites. Notice the color. Completely undercooked.

Moved into the neighborhood 8 months ago and have gone to Pizzeria Serio for pizza multiple times. Sometimes great, sometimes okay, but always acceptable, if overpriced. Tonight was not feeling pizza so instead ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich and mini calzone bites. It was basically inedible. Both the bread on the sandwich and the crust on the calzones were completely undercooked. Both soggy and virtually inedible. Even worse, the chicken and parmesan on the sandwich were virtually non-existent. The chicken breast was about 3 ounces of thin, un-breaded chicken cooked approximately twice as long as necessary. Completely dry and virtually no flavor. Whatever small bit of parmesan cheese was on the sandwich was embedded in the soggy dough of the bottom bun. Probably no more than half a slice of parmesan I would guess. As for the calzone bites, they were so soggy they basically had the texture of steamed dumplings. Whatever cheese was in them was completely stuck to the side of the soggy dough. Both were virtually inedible. The fact that combined they cost $24 is laughable...$24 for 3 ounces of chicken, likely 2 slices of cheese, and a bunch of undercooked dough. At least the side of marinara was tasty. After tonight unlikely to go back. Which is a shame as it is less than 2 blocks away. Better places around than to waste money on this.

Came in for kids eat free on Sundays after 4 pm. The kid pizzas came out in less than 5 minutes! Perfect for hangry kiddos. I loved the prosciutto pizza topped with heaps of peppery arugula and drizzled with a lemony cream sauce. Spaghetti, cheese flatbread and Italian salad are all good. It's a fast & friendly neighborhood staple!

One of the best brick oven pizzas in Chicago. A cozy brick styled restaurant nestled in the Lakeview Area, it is a hidden gem for pizza lovers. A build-your-own 16 inch pizza is $20 and the garlic sticks with the side of marinara sauce is $8. It's moderately priced and the food is very tasty. The half-cheese, half-sausage pizza arrived in 10-20 minutes which was quick because it's brick oven pizza. It was very cheesy and reminded me of NY style pizza (best type of pizza). The garlic sticks were toasted and were smothered in spices, with the marinara sauce enhancing its flavor. This is definitely going to be my new to-go pizza place!

This is by far my favorite Chicago pizza place. Brick oven style. Fresh ingredients can be custom and great staff. Atmosphere is appropriate pizza spot style. Sustainable food

    Small 12" spinach pizza
    Tom Z.

The pizza here is satisfactory. It's nothing special, but it will hit the spot if you're in a pinch. It's also a bit pricey for what it is, especially when compared with other pizza places nearby and surrounding neighborhoods, some of those places serving award winning pizza. The toppings were also a bit disappointing. The menu stated "we use on the freshest ingredients" but the goat cheese on one of their speciality pizzas had no flavor. I LOVE goat cheese and I couldn't care less for their spinach and goat cheese pizza, which was seriously lacking in flavor. The garlic sticks were pretty tasty. Our server was very lovely and attentive and the space is large and seems well suited for families with kids.

    Sweet Heat added ricotta

Ordered the Diavola and Sweet Heat tonight for dinner. I added ricotta to the sweet heat and I think it really elevated it. I think the only thing that would have made it perfect would be hot honey instead of just regular honey. The pizzas were huge and filling. Will be ordering again.

Came last night and had a really nice meal. Service was wonderful! Very nice staff, and the space was big and didn't get too loud. We came during lakeviews restaurant week and tried a few things off the menu. I got the sweet meats which had interesting flavors. My husband got the margarita pizza and really enjoyed it. Both of these pizzas were the small size and have 6 slices so it could be shared! Not sure we would get the breadsticks again. Will definitely come back.

[COVID pickup review] Overall: A solid takeout option for those looking for a good deal while going above the standard chain options. The good: Pickup was right on time and provided friendly service. The portions are well-sized, we had plenty of leftovers (we got a large w/ garlic sticks and baked cheese). Everything was exactly as you would expect - the garlic sticks were garlicy, and the pizza was cooked well with plenty of sauce and cheese. The not-so-good: The flavors didn't really blow us out of the water, and the baked cheese appetizer was lacking. Maybe it was just because it was takeout, but there was only a dollop of (semi-solid) cheese swimming in a lake of marinara. It fit the needs, but we expected better.

We had visited Florence last year, and one of the numerous wonderful moments of our trip to Italy was seeing "Il Porcellino" - the lucky bronze boar fountain that draws tourists from around the world. A copy of the boar stands proudly near the entrance of the restaurant, and though it is not as old as the original 1634 sculpture, it was a charming reminder of our amazing Italian holiday. Did I mention that the weekday Happy Hour (4-6PM) specials are quite good? The specials are served only at the bar area, so you might have to wait a few minutes for available seating. We started with some drinks, including two kinds of Negroni. The wild mushroom arancini (5 little balls for $6) were the smallest I've tried, but they were creamy and melt-in-your mouth delicious. The whipped ricotta and jam beautifully served on a strip of toasty focaccia was a unique taste sensation. Prime beef meatballs and short rib sliders on toasted ciabatta bread also hit the spot. Even though we were merely dining at the bar, we enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. There are lots of photos on the walls, interesting lighting from the ceiling, nice serving dishes, and servers who seem to know who their regular diners are. We look forward to returning to Il Porcellino, to bask in that indescribable feeling of being in Italy again.

They pour what feels like a gallon of garlic butter over it, and somehow it's still never enough. It's rich, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. We order it every single time and would probably be disappointed if we didn't. The real star of the show, though, is the lasagna. Between the two of us, we've had lasagna at countless restaurants, and nothing has come close to this one. It's hands down the best lasagna we've ever had. Perfect layers, incredible flavor, and the kind of comfort food that makes you want to savor every bite. Their Grey Goose espresso martini is also unmatched. We've tried espresso martinis all over Chicago, and this one is still our favorite. It's smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to start or end the meal. The atmosphere is another reason we love coming here. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, with a dark, moody vibe that makes it feel special without being stuffy.
