We finally made time to head to the city and get some pizza at an old favorite Pizzeria Tivoli! Arrived at 6:30 on Saturday and were surprised to see we were their only table considering how nice the weather was and knowing how good the food is. But grabbed a table on their patio facing Kingshighway under the giant umbrella and settled in. Server was very friendly and offered drinks and appetizers right away when bringing the plate settings. We ordered their antipasto plate and a ceasar salad while we decided on the pizza. Pizza list is extensive and not your typical selections which I really enjoy! We went with the Tivoli and the Holly Hills. Can't decide which one we liked more, but very happy that we had enough for left overs later in the week. Great place for a family dinner or date night. Oh and eventually other tables did come in and a few carry out orders, but still not busy enough for how wonderful of a place this is. Pizza= delicious Service and Ambiance is just fine. I really enjoy their chewy crust... it's my favorite. My husband could have killed me for ordering a Hawaiian pizza and honestly I'm not sure why I did but it was still really good. I had a whole pizza to myself. My friend and I visited for dinner a few weeks ago and had a nice time. When we arrived, the place was not busy at all since it had just opened when we arrived. We opted to sit outside since it was a nice night (in November)! One of the main reasons we picked this spot is because they offer a GF crust and my friend needs that as an option. Our server had to check with the kitchen to make sure they still had what they needed for this request and they were able to make one so we ordered the Margherita pizza since this is a classic option. Love the restaurant setting as it is right in the middle of a neighborhood, the interior gives off an authentic Italian vibe, lighting is easy on the eyes and the floors, tables, and restroom are clean, something I can always appreciate. We got the Margherita Pizza and the Toscana Pizza from take out for date night! When I opened the Margherita Pizza I was so sad to see that the basil was left off completely it's the best part! I was let down BUT the Toscana pizza saved the day! It was so delicious, the red onions cut the saltiness from the cheese so perfectly and the crust was so perfectly chewy with the great wood fire taste. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEIR WEBSITE. They claim to not have a website, but you'll still get charged. I ordered on their website (https://www.pizzeriativolistl.com/) and I got a text message that said I'd get an email when the order was accepted. After 20 minutes, I never got an email, not even in junk folder. I called them to ask about my order, in broken English, they told me they don't even have a website. I looked at my credit card account and the charge was already on there. I drove to the restaurant and again, they told me they don't have a website. Sitting on their soda machine behind the bar, right when you walk in, there is a table card with their web address advertising online ordering. They wouldn't do anything so I demanded to talk to the manager. They finally called him, after speaking Spanish to him, they made me talk to him. He told me he didn't get any online orders. I told him the stupid card advertising their site an online ordering was right there in the restaurant. I mentioned it saying "powered by Ordello" or something and hes like "Oh! Yeah we have that. What did you order? We will make your pizzas now." I said that I don't want the stupid pizzas anymore, I just want my money back. He told me he never got an email for my order so he cant refund me. He told me to talk to Ordello. I was like "How is that on me? It was on YOUR website!" He said he'd look into it and call me back. He asked for my name and number. He never called me back. We ordered the Funghi Pizza, the Calzone Verede, Mezza Luna, and the Cannelloni Al Forno. The Calzone Verede and the Mezza Luna looked and tasted almost the same. The Cannelloni was good but slightly greasy. We had a lot of special requests on the Funghi Pizza and they honored all of them and it came out correct. We paid online and the boxes were placed on a table and I picked them up off the table. If you're in the neighborhood this is a decent choice for carryout during the pandemic. Excellent place , just flew in for the weekend from Denver to look at real estate in this awesome neighborhood , the pizza blows away anything you can find in Denver. The cool neighborhood atmosphere and European feel was excellent. It seemed the owner was making the pizza right in front of me , very friendly staff as well. Hard to find this anymore in most parts of the United States. Been away from St. Louis for over 10 years and wow has it changed. Both were great but a little annoyed that that charged us $3 to substitute sausage for the hamburger on the Holly Hills. The place is very small and cozy although it was not very busy when we went.
