We tried the follow 1) rose rice cakes - 3/5, I wasn't a fan of the rice cakes but I liked the other things on the plate. The sauce is fantastic 2) scallion chicken - 4/5, it's fried chicken so you know it'll be good. Good sauce on top, perfect crunchiness. Yum. These dishes were all shareable and had large portions. Ambience: It was pretty loud so I would think twice if you are looking for a dinner spot to have a conversation. The ddukbokki has spam fries and sausage inside, and the rice cakes are fried so it's super crispy outside and chewy on the inside. I'm not even a huge fan of rice cakes, but really liked these. I came on a Friday night at 12 AM and was seated immediately. We ordered the corn pancake, the truffle fries, and marinated scallion chicken. Be aware that the portion sizes are big, especially that corn pancake! My favorite had to have been the scallion chicken; it was crispy and topped with a soy-sweet sauce and tons of shredded scallion. Plan B is a relatively new lounge/bar in Ktown, crowded into the second floor of one of the many buildings on 32nd Street. Walking in, a promoter was handing out pamphlets for free shots with a $50 minimum bill, which would have been a good incentive if the Yelp check in didn't provide the same offer without a minimum specified. However, our waiter said the deal was one and the same, effectively nulling the Yelp deal. Plan B is aesthetically pleasing in a Korean chic bar kind of way, blasting hip hop music as soon as you set foot in the lobby. It then splits off into two dining areas: one brightly lit and for larger parties eating dinner, and the other with darker mood lighting and smaller tables. My friend and I were seated in the dining room area in between two large loud birthday parties and could barely hear each other. Overall not a good place to go for more intimate dinners. We shared the wings and asked for the Korean spicy version. Although they had a good crunch, the wings were not spicy at all and left much to be desired. Same with their cocktails, of which there were only three options. My friend's soju sangria didn't come with any of its promised fruit garnishes, while my yogurt soju tasted like it was 80% Yokult and 20% alcohol. My friends and I came to Plan B for a Sunday night dinner. We were met with a cool lounge vibe, dim lighting and LOUD but amazing music! I don't know how this place has a 4 star review. My coworkers had met the manager at this establishment who had invited them to stop by. We had planned on visiting couple weeks ago & finally had time to come check it out & support the business. Upon entering, they had wanted to seat us by the entrance, where honestly, we weren't feeling the vibes. The tables in the back had music playing with the cool ambiance & overall better feel. We asked if we could be seated there instead of where they wanted to place us in which they kept telling us no. We asked if we could wait & they told us it would be 30 min which was fine with us. Initially the manager Rich hadn't recognized our coworker & kept giving us a hard time about being seated. We asked him again if we could sit in the back which he then told us it would be an hour & a half wait. How does it go from 30 min to an hour & a half just like that. The place wasn't even half packed. We were later able to get Rich to recognize my coworker which her then immediately seated us where we asked. Once we got seated the vibe was no longer there. It took all of us a moment to realize we were being racially profiled. They didn't want us seated in the main area, I guess to make space for the Asian guests? I heard the owner instructing his staff to not seat us in the back without reasoning. We tried to put it behind us but they had left us feeling very uncomfortable & unwanted. We all come from the service industry & know exactly what they were up to. One of my favorite food spot in k-town by far. It was empty on a Sunday night around 10pm so we got seated right away. It's dark in there and more of the vibe of drinking, but we got food and it was so good! Big generous portions even though it was a bit pricey. My favorite dishes we ordered: cheese corn (with the sweet onion bits.. drools!), seafood soup (huge but we finished all the soup among 4 and ate all the meat bits. Got a kick of spice but a good one!), kimchee fried rice (solid with its crispy rice from cooking it in the stone pots), and the fried chicken (sweet and crunchy with juicy tasty meat inside). The least favorite was the flat fries with cheese on top, but probably cus it was more carbs on top of everything else we were stuffing ourselves with. Overall, this place is not worth the money. Their food taste was very disappointing. The menu ideas sound great but they weren't executed well. We got the kimchi carbonara pasta and the pasta noodles were all cut short strands. They weren't really noodles and the sauce was way too creamy. For context, we came at 8pm and only had 2 dishes, so I'll have to do a follow up. My girlfriend and I were met by a very attentive waiter who wasn't overbearing and gave us good advice on what we should pick on their smaller selection. This smaller selection is a clear indication -- this is definitely not a pocha, and the slightly higher pricing reflects that. But when the Pork Belly Rice Bowl and the Rose Ricecakes came out, we were stunned. Pork Belly Rice Bowl (note this is a limited menu item): We let it sit for 30 more seconds, to get a bit of nurungi(crispy rice) and then dug in. I was already fairly full from a previous meal, but MY GOD, the amount of pork and other stuff they put in the bowl? It was like 50% content, which is huge, considering most bibimbaps are largely rice. Each bit was full of delicious crunchy rice, perfectly cooked pork belly, and some veggies that helped balance everything. Nothing was too salty. Oh, and they give you a pile of seaweed sheets on the side, to wrap your bites in. $23 seemed a bit steep, but it filled both of us up and was well worth it in quality. I hope they keep this on the menu, because it would absolutely bring me back Rose Ricecakes: The nice waiter said this was a hit and people loved the rice cakes. We asked him what else was in it, and all he said was "oh, you know, the usual... fishcakes, and the creamy rose sauce". He undersold it for SURE. This thing came out with what must've been 12 perfectly fried dduk, coated in what seemed to be mochi flour, as it gave the crunchiest texture in each bite. The dish also came with 4 pieces of nicely cooked sausage, 4 spam fries (tempura coated), and a hardboiled egg. All of it was coated in a distinctly pink rose sauce that gave everything a little creaminess along with a kick. Wasn't sure exactly what to make of it at first, but that flavor definitely grew on me, and I feel like I want to give it another go again. So why 4 stars? More of a principal thing. The food is definitely 5, and I want to come back, but one small gripe was that they charged gratuity (20%, post tax) for the two of us. Seemed a little strange to do... but I'll still be back.
